XF-I digital out to DTT3500 WOR

untill you touch the xf-i software....
I installed my new xf-i fatality card in one of my computers, hooked up the 4 ring minijack into the flexijack, mentioned in a speaker setup screen that i had 5. speakers on digital out AND IT WORKED JUST FINE..
I could hear the lady's voice run around me and i was rather supprised at this because this forum is full of how the xf-i doesnt work with the dtt3500.
Then i started touching buttons in that fancy looking console and that was when it broke and playing every channel on the front speakers.
I've been messing around with the software for 0 minutes now but i cant get the suround back.
So is this a software problem afterall and not a problem with the hardware ?
I'm going to see what happens if i put it in another computer which hasnt been infected by the software yet too see what happens.

btw it did only come up with 2. speakers when the first wizard showed up.
I selected those and changed it in the startup console.
and it broke after i switched audio modus from entertainment to gamingMessage Edited by Conz on 2-24-2005 2:39 AM

  • X-Fi digital out problem with FPS 2000 speak

I just upgraded my old SB Li've! to X-Fi ExtremeMusic.
I connected my 4. digital FPS 2000 Cambridge Soundwork speakers to the digital i/o port at the back of the sound card, but I could only hear from front speakers. Nothing from the rear speakers.
Also when I run the speaker connection wizard, after I pick digital output, the program only allows me to select either headphone or 2. speakers even though I connected to my FPS2000 which is 4. speakers.
Is it because my orginal mini-plug to DIN converter cable from FPS2000 is a 3-pole only and X-Fi digital out port is 4-pole? If that's the case, is it possible to buy a 4-pole mini-plug to DIN converter cable which works for FPS2000?
    Will this cable http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=3&subcategory=58&product=0375 &nav=systemRequirements
    work?

Actually you are having exactly the same problem as other users with DTT3500 or 5700 speakers. The X-Fi does not support the DIN connection. The digital-out of the X-Fi is the industry standard SPDIF. This means only 2-channels can be sent!
You should connect your FPS speakers to the analog outs of the soundcard. Quality will be anyway better, as the X-Fi includes modern DACs at 24-bits, which is not the case of the FPS2000 speakers.

  • Audio output changed to 'Digital Out' and speakers don't work! Please help!

I'm not exactly sure what's happened, but after starting up my macbook pro, my speakers/audio haven't worked.
The volume control in the menu bar is inactive (looks light grey) and in the Sound menu, I have no option for output devices except for 'Digital Out' - there is no other option for 'external speakers' (as per usual) or anything!
I can plug earphones in, and sound comes out fine... I don't know what may have happened, but I'm really worried - I use my MBP for home & work; I need my speakers to work!!
If anyone can offer any advice, I'd be really grateful. Thank you in advance.

Talked to Tech Support about this when my machine locked up in this same fashion. There's a little "door" inside the headphone jack that can get stuck in the open position and keep the audio from switching back to the internal speakers / stuck in the digital (optical) output position...
The solution: the iPick... It's a toothpick, but if you use it to poke around inside the headphone jack until the little door gets unstuck, it becomes an iPick, and a box of them are very expensive, but they come in lovely colors and are very intuitive to use...
I'm not kidding... Stick a toothpick (or other non-conductive small stick) in the headphone jack and joog it around until it releases the little door...

  • Can i generate PWM output from digital out of my PCI 7041 RT DAQ card?

I want to generate 4 PWMs using my PCI7041 card. I do have only 2 analog outputs and 2 counters to output my signal that's why I want to use digital out of my card for PWM. How can I do that? If there is any example then please let me guide that way.

    Hello rajen,
There is a good link to PWM in LabVIEW using counters here.
As for using analog output, you will need to be able to continuously update your output waveform. I've attached a program that demonstrates this. Hope this info is helpful.

  • Help. I have a Google Hangout in 40mins and my sound seems to have vanished. I went to Sys Prefs and it came up with Digital Out....and the Internal Speakers option is no longer there. How do I reboot, or fix this please?

help. I have a Google Hangout in 40mins and my sound seems to have vanished. I went to Sys Prefs and it came up with Digital Out....and the Internal Speakers option is no longer there. How do I reboot, or fix this please?

There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Some may not apply to your model. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
    2. Make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
    3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
    4. Other third-party software that has been reported to interfere with sound output includes "Boom" and "Samsung Kies." If applicable, uninstall according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging something to the Trash.)
    5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
    6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select Built-in Output from the list on the left. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them.
    7. If a red light is visible in the audio-out port when sound should be playing, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. If not, the machine needs to be serviced. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by the warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
    9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
    10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    11. Reset the NVRAM.
    12. Reset the SMC.
    13. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/Audio
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Recreate your settings in the Sound preference pane.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    14. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
    15. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

  • Audigy 4, digital out would not work, now external box does not power

I recently purchased a audigy 4 sound card. At first it was almost as if there was a loose wire somewhere. Sometimes the external break out box would power up and sometimes it would not. There was no loose wire and it now no longer powers up at all. The only thing that was worse than the intermittent power up was the digital out on the box. First of all I was told that you could use the spidf out on the box to a receivers digital in, this never worked now matter what settings I tried. I was then told to try the mini out. So I went and bought a mono mini out, that was a joke, didn't fit right rarely worked. I then went and bought a mini stereo plug to RCA out, that fit right and worked a few times, It no longer works at all.
I had the settings set up correctly with the spidif passthrough.
Has anyone else had any problems getting the digital out to work with a receiver?
The analog works fine, but just like the audigy mp3 the bass output for my sub is weak and almost nonexistent. I have a nice hifi/ht system I am trying to get this card to work with.

    hello there!
i have the same problem - when i use the equalizer i can save a preset without problems,
but if i reboot the pc i first have to open the equalizers window to make the equalizer work. without having opened the equalizer window it seems to be not activated.
does anybody have an idea how to fix that problem?

  • Sound Blaster card 'digital out' into my high-end stereo receiver?

BSound Blaster card 'digital out' into my high-end stereo receiver?A I want?to interface my iTunes music library?(all tunes in Apple Lossless file format) to my high-end sound system, using an optical (TOSLink)?cable and a "mini TOSLink adapter" that will plug into the 'digital out' jack on the Sound Blaster card in my Windows XP PC. This configuration will take advantage of the high-end DAC's in my Denon receiver.
I don't care about getting surround sound out of my PC, and I'm not a gamer. I just want hi-fi stereo music from my iTunes library.
    Will this work?Can I expect CD-quality sound?
Also, would it be worthwhile to upgrade my model SB394 sound card to a hi-fi SB card like X-Fi Xtreme Audio, or is any sound card as good as any other for simply deli'vering the digital data stream to my Denon receiver?

well, I have two devices that a combo CD player/Tape decks/radio tuner/amp; one has misc input, the other doesn't. Both are analog devices, both are old things I bought at a yard sale. I got 6 bookshelf speakers that use pairs of stripped wire as the input hooked up in 2 parallel wired sets of 3 to the CD/Tape/Tuner/Amp thing that has a misc input. Anyway, the one without misc input has a 3 disk CD changer, plus it would give me a way to input tape and radio sounds sources into my computer if I just connected it's audio outputs to the internally located Aux In on my soundblaster card in my computer. But I wonder, what considerations do I have to have?
Firstly, is the Aux In on my board analog or digital? I'm assuming if it doesn't say "digital", it's analog; correct?......
secondly, and more importantly; the CD/Tape/Tuner/Amp thing is supposed to be used with 8 ohm speakers and do I have to worry about sending too much current to the soundcard?
specific model of SB card; I'm not sure. It has 2 analog outs, analog in, mic in, digital out and a joystick port; and it came installed on a 200 Dell w/ Win ME
and please, don't try selling me something; I use old crappy hardware and really do not mind doing so.
any help will be appreciated, thanks.
    Aux-In is an analog port (4-pin connector/stereo).
Don't connect powered output (= speaker outputs) into soundcard but, if possible, use some low-power connection like Headphones-Out (or if possible then some line-out port).

  • No digital out signal from Optical Out

I have a Pavilion p6250f PC with a ATI Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics card.  I have it connected to my Onyo receiver through the DVI-D port to the HDMI port on my Onyo receiver.   I get a message saying I need to cable the sound separately, so I am using a optical cable from the PC to the receiver, but am unable to get any sound.
I have used the Realtek menu to select Digital Out.  Any ideas?

    Hi,
Where are you connecting your optical cable to on the PC as you have stated?
Try SPDIF output from the PC using a coaxial cable to a digital input on the receiver. Or, use an analog cable from the back of the PC to the receiver.  Then go back into the Control Panel ---Sound---> Playback Tab and set the default sound out device.

  • Using ATV2/3 with non-HDMI Receiver and theater projector and also need iTunes downloaded movies to work.   I'm thinking to use the Toslink digital out for surround sound and an HDMI to RGB converter for video but not sure the iTunes DRM will prevent?

I have a theater with a Runco projector but non HDMI. alas, my receiver is non HDMI. Changing electronics and projector is a non-starter.
I would like to be able to buy HD movies on iTunes and watch them by streaming via Apple TV3. My plan is to capture surround sound from the TosLink digital out, which my preamp/receiver can handle. For the video, I need to convert the HDMI to RGB component to feed my receiver.
This is where iTunes DRM and HDCP issues might arise. I am under the impression that I need an non-HDMI compliant converter so that ATV3 can even talk to my receiver. It is my understanding that this is possible and takes care of the HDCP issue. But what about the DRM issue? All I want to do is buy and watch HD movies, no bad intentions. I find it incredible that iit might not be possible.
Anyways, is there a 100% certain approach even if it costs up to $300-400. Again, changing hardware is a non-starter so please avoid the obvious "buy an HDMI amp and projector".
    Thanks

  • Sound Preferences: switches from Internal Speakers to Digital Out

I've been having this problem recently. I sent the computer off to Apple a few weeks ago and it helped for a while, but no longer.
My computer has a problem with it's sound output jack or something. Without inserting anything into the plug, the Sound will change for "Internal Speakers" to "Digital Out" and to "Built-in Output" in the Sound Preferences Panel.
    Any suggestions?

I have a 4 month old macbook and experiencing the same problem. Just realized it after installing itunes 8 and since then having a stuttering audio playback problem too. When i plug my headphones into the audiojack the sound switches from headphones to speakers and back as well as itunes playing tracks in a stop and go mode. I repaired the rights several times, installed quicktime 7.5.5 again, reinstalled itunes 8 and for sure running the latest leopard version 10.5.5.
Also thought it could be a hardware problem but after reading this it seems more software related.
    Any idea?

  • What is better to use: digital out or 5 channel speaker level out

    Hi
Is it better to use digital out on sound card or 5 channel speaker level output? If you could explain it to me...(i'm new so that's why i am asking this)
    Thank you

First you need to determine what options you have, if you have an amp/decoder
use digital out because that then frees up the line-outs which you can use for other devices. Quality wise not much difference.

  • 2009 Mac Pro no audio out from Line Out and/or Digital Out.

Hey guys, I recently bought a new tv which has an optical input and thought I'd buy an optical cable to connect it to my Mac Pro's (4.1 model 2009 I believe) digital out port which I have never used before .
The issue I'm facing since is that I can't get out from my mac pro to my tv. I also bought a cable to direct sound from my mac pro's line out, to my tv's red/white stero audio ports. That didn't work either.
When I select Digital out as the default audio output in Sound preferences the OS says that there are not default audio controls for that device and the sound icon in the menu bar is greyed out while when I switch to line out output I can control volume but no audio is coming from my TV.
I've been searching on forums and didn't find any relevant answer so if someone knows what may cause this that'd be really helpful.
*ALSO: I've got windows 8 instaleld on my mac pro as well. The digital out doesn't work there as well although the line out does send sound to the TV.
** I also have soundflower installed and perian although I don't think any of them would mess things up like that.
Do you think this is a problem with my Mac or is this a common Mavericks issue (sorry forgot to mention I'm on 10.9.2)
    Many Thanks,
    Thanos.

When I select Digital out as the default audio output in Sound preferences the OS says that there are not default audio controls for that device and the sound icon in the menu bar is greyed out
That's normal.  Is the correct audio input selected on the TV?

  • Digital out not working (unibody)

I have been using my digital out for some time and now i noticed its not working. When i go to the system panel it says headphones when i plug in the digital audio out connector rather then saying digital audio out. NOthing has changed otherwise. Same connector cable plugging into the same audio system.
    Thanks in advance

Have you tried cleaning out the jack with some compressed air? Sometimes the Mac will mistakenly think something is plugged in to the optical/analog audio jack.

  • Does anyone know why there would be slight latency using a digital out (Toslink w/adaptor) to my amp, where I don't have latency with an analogue cable? Is it the amp that is causing the latency?

Recenty used a Macbook Pro with analogue out to my amp and there was no latency at all. Bought a new iMac and got a Toslink cable with adaptor and connected to same amp. There is slight latency using the digital out! Can anyone explain why? I don't really want to go back to using the digital cable because I have the surround sound setup that works well with the optical cable.
