Xfce runs some apps twice at startup

Usually Xfce runs conky and keepassx twice during the startup. I tried cleaning ~/.cache/sessions while unlogged, but it didn't work.
These apps figure only once in xfce4-sessions-settings and these are my settings.

I had this problem in XFCE, ages ago, worked around by auto-starting a bash script, rather than the apps themselves, then having a bit of checking in the bash script - snippets:
#!/bin/bash
export DISPLAY=":0.0"
# To get evolution to use gnome's secrets keyring
# From http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/18930
if [[ -z "$(pidof -s gnome-keyring-daemon)" ]] ; then
export `gnome-keyring-daemon -s --components=pkcs11,secrets,ssh`
fi
# Optimize firefox databases
for f in ~/.mozilla/firefox/*/*.sqlite ; do sqlite3 "$f" vacuum ; sqlite3 "$f" reindex ; done
# Done here, so it takes effect reliably!
xrdb -merge ~/.Xresources
# Make pidgin minimized at startup
sed -i -e "/list_visible/s/value='1'/value='0'/" -e "/list_maximized/s/value='1'/value='0'/" ~/.purple/prefs.xml
# Run terminal if not already running
pgrep -u myusername xfce4-terminal > /dev/null || xfce4-terminal &
(sleep 15 ; if [[ -z "$(pgrep -u myusername xscreensaver)" ]] ; then xscreensaver -no-splash ; fi) &

  • The iPad won't run some apps.

Sometimes I download some apps and when I open them, the iPad will take me to their title screen, then automatically force quit them and send me back to the home screen. This happens specifically with game apps. If I shut the iPad all the way off, and turn it back on, sometimes it will fix the app. But I think it is related to the amount of battery. If the battery level is below 40%then the apps quit more often. Please help if you know how to fix this or prevent it from happening. I have the 1st generation iPad, 32 gb. Thanks, Travis.

Hi there. I'm having the same problem: my iPad won't import some photos from a folder, saying that they can't be read. They are all JPEGS and some photos taken at the same time have synched fine, but out of a folder with 200 photos, it only lets me synch 37. I'm synching albums created via Photoshop Elements 6, which has worked fine until now.
I've tried deleting all photos and re-synching, and have also deleted the iPod Photo Cache, but it hasn't made a difference.
The iPad auto-updated to the latest version of iTunes, so maybe that's what's causing it?
    Any advice gratefully received!

  • TS1702 Ipod touch wont run some apps, that previously ran, after a restore

have an ipod touch, running software version 3.1.3, which according to itunes software update is the latest version for my ipod. so why is it that after i had to restore my ipod and re installl apps, some of the apps say i dont have the right software? apps like yahoo, and ebay, that worked ok before i had to restore my ipad.

What happens when you try to resync them back over to your iPod Touch? Perhaps they were recently updated to a newer version and now require a later version of iOS than what is supported by your iPod Touch.  If that is the case, you'll need to restore the old apps if possible.  Otherwise, you're out of luck.
It sounds like you have a 1G iPod Touch, which cannot be updated past iOS 3.1.3.

  • Have you noticed the 3G struggling to run some apps?

I thought it was just a dodgy update but after trying the apps on a 4g iPod Touch its clearly the 3G at fault.
Vevo - The music video service, you open it, it gets to the home screen then just crashes, runs perfect on 4G
BK App - Again just randomly closes, runs perfect on 4g
Ubertwitter - The new twitter client, I've only had a brief play with it as its only out today, but its dog slow
I'm sure there is more than this, I may be wrong, but could it be something to do with the high res images used for retina display take up more memory and the 3G can't cope?
    Whats your thoughts?

It's not the 3G it's the 4.0 OS. Apple doesn't give a crap so they won't fix it

  • Some app not automatic startup when windows start.?

I use dell touchpad but it don't automatic start when windows start. I allway manual open app.

In this build, when you are set to use the Start Screen instead of the Start Menu, apps in the "Run" area of the registry that normally automatically start will not start. If you switch back to the Start Menu, they will start. I have not seen
any documentation about this change so I am hoping it is just a bug at this point.

  • How to run some part at only startup(Initialisation)?

    Dear All,
I want to send the query only once when i start the program not continuosly during the programme, so what i should ,can anybody suggest me, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks in Advance
    Rujuta

    Hi,
If i understood your query right,
This is what you meant: In a continous process(loop) you want a part of code to execute(sending a query) only once (in the very first iteration).
If I have understood your query right, any of these attached VI should do the job
Only on the first iteration(loop zero), the true case will execute and a pop up message will come. ( first loop_1.vi)
For all successive iterations, the code inside the true case will not execute.
It this is not what you are looking for, do post your question in a bit more detail.
    Regards
    Dev

  • After installing last Security Update 2014–002 i've had problems when trying to open some apps, as they close unespectedly. Boom, Audacity, Dropbox are some of these apps...

Yesterday (april 22) I install the last Security Update 2014–002 from the Mac App Store. After rebooting the computer, I haven't been able to run some apps I use frequently, such as Boom Device, Dropbox, Google Drive, wich didn't show in the menu bar anymore and don't run even when clicking on their icons; or apps like Audacity (open source sound editor), All2mp3 (sound files converter to mp3); and other apps bought from the Mac App Store, as Funtastic Photos. This problem affects even applications as Word, Excel and Powerpoint... I think the problem has reached it's highest levels and I would like to know what can I do in order to reverse my iMac to a "normal" life... I should say that I haven't had any problems with any of the several Web Browsers I commonly use...

I have the sam problem with Firefox and Word. Annoying, please help me. Word does not open at all(still Excel and Powerpoint do, Firefox get a lot of problems, and shuts down.

  • I was wondring if there is any top free app for cleaning up  the computer and make it run faster while booting, on startup and while surfing web. I am using a macbookpro  with IOS10.8.5, under chrome, safari, firefox net environment. thanks on yourhelp

I was wondering if there is any top free app for cleaning up  the computer from malware, phinishing apps, adware, and othere malicious softwares and make it run faster while booting, on startup and while surfing web. I am using a Macbook pro  with IOS10.8.5, under chrome, safari, firefox net environment. thanks on your help

I was wondering if there is any top free app for cleaning up ...
There is no such thing, since the problems you are describing can have various causes. Seeking anything claiming to "clean" your Mac is asking for trouble, since all of those products are scams, whether they are "free" or not.
If you are having trouble with your Mac, describe what it is. Be as specific as possible. For general recommendations read below.
There will always be threats to your information security associated with using any Internet - connected communications tool:
You can mitigate those threats by following commonsense practices
Delegating that responsibility to software is an ineffective defense
Assuming that any product will protect you from those threats is a hazardous attitude that is likely to result in neglecting point #1 above.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "clean up", "speed up", "optimize", "boost" or "accelerate" your Mac; to "wash" it, "tune" it, or to make it "shiny". Those claims are absurd.Such products are very aggressively marketed. They are all scams.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources.
Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
"Questionable sources" include but are not limited to spontaneously appearing web pages or popups, download hosting sites such as C net dot com, Softonic dot com, Soft pedia dot com, Download dot com, Mac Update dot com, or any other site whose revenue is primarily derived from junk product advertisements.
If you need to install software that isn't available from the Mac App Store, obtain it only from legitimate sources authorized by the software's developer.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iCloud, iTunes, or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose:Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Java can be disabled in System Preferences.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
The same precaution applies to Adobe Flash Player. Newly discovered Flash vulnerabilities appear almost weekly.
Beware spontaneous popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > check "Block popup windows".
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but unsolicited popups are commonly used to deceive people into installing unwanted software they would never intentionally install.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever receive a popup window indicating that your Mac is infected with some ick or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
The same goes for a spontaneously appearing dialog insisting that you upgrade your video player right this instant. Such popups are frequently associated with sites that promise to deliver "free" movies or other copyrighted content that is not normally "free".
The more insistent it is that you upgrade or install something, the more likely it is to be a scam. Close the window or tab and forget it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. Most of these attempts are pathetic and are easily recognized, but that hasn't stopped prominent public figures from recently succumbing to this age-old scam.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

By default Mac apps do not close when you close the window you were working in. Unlike in Windows when you click the top right X icon in any program is closes the window and the program shuts down. On Mac OS X clicking the X in the top left hand corner only closes that windows and leave the program running in the background. If they are left open and you reboot they will restart with the system and load a window for them.

  • Some app don´t run

some app don´t run suddenly, any idea?

What exact behaviors are you seeing when you attempt to open the apps? Do they bounce in the Dock at all, or only bounce once, or do you see any errors or warnings pop up?

  • My ipod 4g is running slow and doesn't open some apps what should I do ?

my ipod 4g is running slow and doesn't open some apps and close the when i am working on them what should I do ?

Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
    Next try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

My iPhone is getting stuck for a few seconds everytime I do something,  if i type a letter it will type it twice or a few times, if i click to close the browser it stucks there for a few seconds before closing, if i try to open some app it gets stuck there.
I have restored it and loaded the backed up material again. But this problem doesnt seem to go away. Sometimes it is too much sometimes it is not noticeable, so what exactly could be wrong and what ALL should I do to get it fixed?  Please reply.

Thank you. You are very kind. First I backed everything up, then restored as a new phone, and then i couldn't see the contacts, the contacts were not restored when i restored as a new phone. So in order to get the contacts I restored from the backup but then the same problem happened again.
What I meant to saw was that the probelm disappeared when i restored as a new phone, but it reappeared when i restored from the backup. So is there a way to just somehow get the old contacts when the phone is restored as a new phone. All I need from the current phone is the contacts to be there when I retore as a new phone.
    I hope I am clear.
    Kindly help
