XML element

I have following code snippet in pro *c. I'm Constructing XML element and passing to SP using Clob data type.
When compling pro *c i'm getting  following error for xmlelement key word mentioned below
SELECT  xmlelement("Id",
*.........1*
PLS-S-00201, identifier 'XMLELEMENT' must be declared
Error at line 203, test.pc
SELECT  xmlelement("Id",

EXEC SQL EXECUTE

l_clob_xml_msg CLOB;
purge_dt DATE DEFAULT SYSDATE;
barcode_in CHAR(20) := 'TEST';
item_no CHAR(8) := '133444';
type_c CHAR(1) := 'C';
BEGIN
SELECT xmlelement("Id",
xmlelement("barCode", trim(barcode_in)),
xmlelement("item", item_no),
xmlelement("typeC", type_c),
xmlelement("purDate", purge_dt )).getclobVal()
INTO l_clob_xml_msg
FROM dual;
test_msg_sp(l_clob_xml_msg );
END;
END-EXEC;
Please let me know pro *c wont support xmlelement tag if i have embedded pl/sql block.
Thanks,
kannan

try this.

  • XML tag markers moved: Find and Replace causing problem in xml elements

    Hi All,
    I am doing find and replace using GREP. While using the expression like $1, $2 (Found Items) in the change to field it changes the placement of tag marker. If the found item is a part of two of more xml elements, I am getting a serious problem while replacing it. (ie. The xml tag markers are moved.)
    See the screen shot below, then you may get better idea. And help me to overcome this issue.
    This is just an example to show you what i'm trying to say, there are so many cases like this.
    Original text/ Before doing find replace
    After replacing
    Green4ever

    Hi Peter and John,
    but it seems to me that the example is looking for any space that
    follows a semi-colon and has two word characters following it, and
    repalce that with an em space. I think you could do the same using look
    behind and look ahead and not need to replace the found text.
    Yes you are right about the look behind and look ahead. I'd like to show some more examples to show what the actual problem is,
    Original/Before Replacing,
    (Consider there is another case here, instead of em-space some times normal word space will also be there)
    Using the Grep:
    Find What---------> ^(\d+\.(?:\d+)?)~m
    Change To------------->$1\t
    After Replace:
    Did I make any sense? Eventhough this will not make any changes in the layout, my requirement is to insert the tab out-side the tag marker not indise.

  • How can we get the reference of XML element on frame as soon as frame is created in Document?

    Hi,
    When ever we copy any text/table cells from any frame, and paste it directly on page, A new Frame is created and the pasted text is placed inside that frame.
    Now to capture this frame creation, We have two possible solutions:
    1) Attach Observer on Document 'kDocBoss' on IID_IHIERARCHY_DOCUMENT and it will notify on frame creation in update function.
    2) Notification event on new story creation.
    Now, I need to perform some changes in the newly created table, for example:
    a)  Need to delete XML tags from newly created frame
    b)  Need to perform action on table cells if any in the created frame.
    But the problem is, when the event comes, I can access basic properties of frame like it's name, type etc, but it does not give me the
    XML element on frame or tables in frame until the event is com pleat.
    I know it's quite a specif requirement, but I guess many of you might have faced these kind of challenges, while processing the event.
    Does any one has any idea how I can get the reference of XML element on frame as soon as it is created?

    Hi Kapoor,
    please give also others a chance, and excuse that I get up late on vacation ;-)
    Anyway, I'd keep the story creation responder to recognize the copy, then combine it with an observer on the backing xml story to catch the associated XML element which is created there. Something like below:
    UIDRef xmlStoryRef = Utils<IXMLUtils>()->GetBackingStore(doc);
    InterfacePtr<ISubject> subject ( xmlStoryRef,IID_ISUBJECT );
    subject->AttachObserver(observer,IID_IIDXMLELEMENT,observer->GetAttachIID());

  • Hiding XML elements in the structure view – scripting influence to the structure view?

    Hi
    Is there a way to hide specific XML elements (really the elements and not the attributes) in the structure view?
    I am asking this question to know if it is possible to influence the structure view by scripting.
    Many elements are indeed used as a kind of help for constructions which have nothing to do with the actual contents especially in the case of tables.
    You inflate the the structure view unnecessarily and the author will lose track of the real contents. It would be nice if there was a possibility to hide those help construction elements.
    Thank you for any hints.
    Regards
    Apollo102

    Hello Apollo,
    There is a way to hide elements from the Structure View (one such method is offered by the free AXCM plug-in). What happens when you use AXCM (or other methods to hide elements) is that the elements get wrapped into hidden content. This might make the structure view less complex for your authors, but has a number of disadvantages and dangers.
    1. The structure is normally invalidated, as the helper elements are usually required.
    2. Accidentally deleting hidden content may make the invalidation permanent and render your documents useless.
    It is NOT good practice to hide elements from authors in the structure view. Instead, you should either teach authors about the structure, or let them work in the Author View while adding sufficiently clear formatting to show them the underlying structure. In some cases, it might be better to create an authoring structure which is automatically transformed into the required full structure using an XSLT or other processing step. I have created a couple of such environments and they work fine. It just depends on the difference between the structure required for further processing and the structure that would be optimal for your authors (which in turn depends on the level at which your authors are experienced in working with structured content).
    I hope this helps you solve your problem without having to tweak the structure view.
    Kind regards
    Jang

  • How to find out the page number of an xml element

    Hi everybody, sorry for my very bad english (french guy! logical). I hope you see what I'm looking for.
    I'm scripting (javascript) an exporting script of every articles from a multi-pages indesign script.
    In fact I could have one or more article in one file, every one of them is on an separate xml element. for each I have to export an xml file named with, first, the page number where appears the xml element, second, the number of exported article.
    I'm success the second purpose, but not the first.
    Someone have an idea ?

    Try this,
    var myDoc=app.activeDocument;
    var root = myDoc.xmlElements[0];
    var docTag = root.evaluateXPathExpression('//doc');
    for(i=0; i<docTag.length; i++)
        var docPos = docTag[i].insertionPoints.lastItem();
        var docFrame = docPos.parentTextFrames[0];
        var docPage;
        try
             docPage = docFrame.parentPage;
    catch(e)
            docPage = docFrame.parent.name;
        alert(docPage.name);

  • [CS3] [JS] add XML  Element to Insertion Points

    hi list,
    i'll do some text parsing in indesign cs3 intended to add some xml elements to my document.
    i just wonder why i can't markup an insertion point. is the following approach correct? The code works fine, only the return value (stored in the _xml variable) is not the new element but the parent element. The same code works without using the insertion point (marking up the text object [xmlElements.add(_dokument.xmlTags.item("index") , erg[0]))] ).
    Any ideas or thoughts?
    var _dokument = app.activeDocument;
    main ();
    // ** main ()
    function main() {
    //Set the find options.
    app.findGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
    app.changeGrepPreferences= NothingEnum.nothing;
    //find any string encloased by @
    app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = "@.*?@";
    erg = _dokument.findGrep();
    while (erg.length > 0) {
    _xml = _dokument.xmlElements[0].xmlElements.item("text").xmlElements.add(_dokument.xmlTags.item( "index") , erg[0].insertionPoints[0]);
    erg[0].contents = "";
    erg = _dokument.findGrep();

    hi dave,
    gui testing is always a good idea :-) but in this case the behaviour is different:
    your observation is correct (anyway at least a strange behaviour compared to any xml editing tool i know == how adobe intended to insert an empty element?), tagging in the gui a tagged insertion point tags the whole story.
    in the script a new element is added but the return value is the parent element (the xmlElement of the whole story).
    this causes a problem when i add an attribute (the intention of the above script is to add references) which is added to the parent element.

  • Remove xml element using JS[CS3]

    Hi, I have an xml structure where i want to remove some paritcular element named "extlink".
    I do have one script with me but it doesn't wipe out all specific xml element from structure.
    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var foundtext = 0
    Query_Remove (myDoc);
    alert ("You have removed " + foundtext + " " +" Link !!")
    exit (0);
    function Query_Remove(elm)
    try
    for(var i=elm.xmlElements.length-1; i>=0; i--)
         if((elm.xmlElements[i].markupTag.name == "extlink") && (elm.xmlElements[i].xmlElements[0].markupTag.name == "http"))
        var Store_CitAttri = elm.xmlElements[i].xmlElements[0].xmlAttributes.item("c_style").value;
         if(Store_CitAttri == "URL")
          elm.xmlElements[i].remove();
         foundtext = foundtext + 1;
       Query_Remove(elm.xmlElements[i]);
    catch (e){
    Some time it skip the element from all figure captions and some time from body text and some time it works perfectly
    Could any one figure it out why this script behaviour is not consistent as i am new to scripting and not getting any idea about this.
    Thanks
    Mac

    Okay, after peering over your code and trying a few things out I see one immediate problem and one possible improvement.
    The problem lies in this:
    1. if condition is true, remove item
    2. check recursively
    The problem is .. if an item is removed, the following recursive check will always fail. However, the entire loop is wrapped into a try..catch, so InDesign will not alert you that it failed. Instead, it will continue with what's after the loop, exactly because the try..catch is around the entire loop!
    Change the loop code to this
    if((elm.xmlElements[i].markupTag.name == "http") && (elm.xmlElements[i].parent.markupTag.name == "extlink"))
        var Store_CitAttri = elm.xmlElements[i].xmlAttributes.item("c_style").value;
        if(Store_CitAttri == "URL")
          elm.xmlElements[i].remove();
           foundtext = foundtext + 1;
           continue;
    Query_Remove(elm.xmlElements[i]);
    so the recursive checking is skipped. You can also remove the entire try..catch block, as this may hide additional errors ...
    The improvement is: as I started reading this thread from the top again, shouldn't you be removing the "extlink" items, rather than just the "http" ones inside?
    If so, remove the parent of the found item (which is always the "extlink"):
          elm.xmlElements[i].parent.remove();
    -- and, as this will break the loop (because you just removed the set of elements it was working in!), replace 'continue' with 'return'.
    Hope this helps

  • Carriage Returns and Tabs in XML element

    I have a number of carriage returns and tabs within an xml element. When I take that element I would like it to transform to html in which I am then displaying within a JEditorPane. However, when I do this it is one long string. I have tried the xml:space="preserve" within that element and this still is not working.
    Here is part of the xml with the carriage return line feeds. The element that I am talking about is called pseudocode. You can see it is displayed correctly below.
    Design Document XML : <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?><design-doc><title-page><title>Testing Document</title><class-prepared-for>Lloyd</class-prepared-for><authors>Ben Garbers</authors><date-created>September 23, 2004</date-created></title-page><introduction text="This is the introduction.                    if (mPlayers.mPlayerName != playerName)
                        throw PlayerNameNotExistInTeamException;
    this.mPlayers ? this.mPlayers - player;</pseudocode>
    However, when I do the transformation I get the following with the pseudocode:
    /* Ensure that player name exist in the system*/if (player =null)     NullPlayerException;          if (NOT (isPlayerNameExist(player)))               throw PlayerNameNotExistException;          /* Ensure player name exist in the team already*/          i ? 1;          while (i <= length(mPlayers)) {               if (mPlayers[i].mPlayerName != playerName)                    throw PlayerNameNotExistInTeamException;}this.mPlayers ? this.mPlayers - player;
    It looks like it adds some spaces but no carriage returns or line feeds.
    My transformation code is the following:
         public ParseFile(String xmlString) {
              try {

              System.out.println(formattedXmlString);
              System.out.println("--------------------------------");
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
    I have been searching and trying to figure this out forever. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bottom line is that I want carriage returns and tabs to work when transferring from the xml to xsl.

    I get the following line when adding the <pre> tags.
    /* Ensure that player name exist in the system*/if (player =null)     NullPlayerException;          if (NOT (isPlayerNameExist(player)))               throw PlayerNameNotExistException;          /* Ensure player name exist in the team already*/          i ? 1;          while (i <= length(mPlayers)) {               if (mPlayers[i].mPlayerName != playerName)                    throw PlayerNameNotExistInTeamException;}this.mPlayers ? this.mPlayers - player;
    On the screen this is shown on 1 line. It looks like the tabs are working correctly. However, the carriage return, line feeds do not seem to be working. The xml that is pushed into the transformation has the carriage returns and line feeds and is formatted correctly. There has to be something happening when the xsl takes the xml String. When I add <BR></BR> within the xml that doesn't seem to work either.
    I am really sumpted. If you could help DrClap I would really be appreciated.

  • Missing XML Element when using asset from library

    This is not really a scripting question but I seem to be unable to find any regular ID forum and it has something to do with a scripting workflow I established for a customer.
    A script places an asset from a library onto a document and then (amongst other things) imports some XML file.
    The asset in the library consists of a number of textframes and has the structure e.g.:
    article
    box
    box
    Now the customer needs new templates (that is assets in the library) and we cannot produce them anymore. It seems that as of CS 3 5.0.4 Adobe changed the behavior of the library. Dragging e.g. two box-tagged boxes with an article parent XML into the library leads to an asset without the article element. Can someone confirm this? And more important is there a reason to it? Or is there a way to configure the behavior?
    I guess I could create a parent xml element by script after placing the element but then I would need to redo all existing libraries.
    Thank you,
    Ralf

  • [CS3 JS WIN] Get XML Element of paragraph?

    Im trying to get the xml element of a selected paragraph.<br />ie:<br /><br /><item><br /><text><br /><code> This is some code </code>   <--this is selected in indesign<br /></text><br /></item><br /><br />When I try to use associatedXMLElements[0].xmlElements - it returns all different elements(item,text,code,etc) how do I get it to return the immediate XML Element?

    Well what I'm doing is selecting a textframe and then looping through the paragraphs, passing them to the procXML function which is when I try to get the xml element.
    The forums ate my structure:
    [item]
    [text]
    [code]This is some code[/code]
    [/text]
    [/item]

  • Howto use Converting File Content in Rec. Adapt. to suppress a xml-element

    Hi,
    we use PI/700, SP6.
    I have following structure (example):
    <MsgOut>
      <Sender>Partner1</Sender>
      <Receiver>Partner2</Receiver>
      <FlatPayload>
         blabla blabla
      </FlatPayload>
    </Msgout>
    Now I wanna use a XI-File-Adapter to write just a Flat-File with the content (of the element <FlatPayload>):
        blabla blabla
    (in other words: I wanna suppress all other xml-elements beside of FlatPayload)
    But I'm not able to configurate this with the function "Converting File Content"
    I tried different possiblities:
    e.g.
    setting yyy.fieldFixedLengths = 0 and yyy.fixedLengthTooShortHandling = Cut
    (yyy = Sender and Receiver)
    or
    just defining "MsgOut,FlatPayload" as RecordSet Structure (without Sender and Receiver)
    Result: no success.
    Now my question: is it possible to suppress some xml-elements?
    Thanks for your help!
    bye
    Wolfgang

    HI,
    You can suppress the XML Nodes/Elements over here. Not Fields ..
    For e.g if your outout xml is like this
    <MsgOut>
        <Sender>Partner1</Sender>
        <Receiver>Partner2</Receiver>
    <FlatPayload>
       <flatdata> blabla blabla</flatdatat>
    </FlatPayload>
    </Msgout>
    In this case you can suppress the <FlatPayload> node/element here.. Using Cut Parameter in the Receiver File Content COnversion.
    /people/sravya.talanki2/blog/2005/08/11/solution-to-the-problem-encountered-using-variable-substitution-with-xi-sp12
    So in your case, you can restructure your data type as you required.. I have mentioned in vice-versa here
    Hope this helps,

  • XML Elements Ordering in Generated XML Output

    I have a requirement where I need the xml element tags to appear in the generated xml output in the same order as in data template definition but in my case this is not happening. I have one master group - Customer and two subgroups - BillingAddress and ShipToAddress. The subgroups appear below some master elements eg. Contact but above other master elements eg. Telephone . However when the xml output is finally generated all the Master Elements appear first followed by the subgroup elements. Does anyone know how I can rectify this?
    See below:
    my data template structure is as follows:
    - <group name="Customer" dataType="varchar2" source="Q_MASTER_FILE_CUST">
    <element name="CustomerID" datatype="varchar2" value="CUSTOMER_NUM" />
    <element name="CustomerTaxID" datatype="varchar2" value="TAXPAYER_ID" />
    <element name="CompanyName" datatype="varchar2" value="COMPANY_NAME1" />
    <element name="Contact" datatype="varchar2" value="CONTACT_NAME" />
    - <group name="BillingAddress" dataType="varchar2" source="Q_MF_CUST_BILLTO">
    <element name="BuildingNumber" datatype="varchar2" value="BUILD_NUM1" />
    <element name="StreetName" datatype="varchar2" value="STREET_NAME1" />
    <element name="AddressDetail" datatype="varchar2" value="ADDRESS_STYLE1" />
    <element name="City" datatype="varchar2" value="CITY1" />
    <element name="PostalCode" datatype="varchar2" value="POSTAL_CODE1" />
    <element name="Region" datatype="varchar2" value="COUNTY1" />
    <element name="Country" datatype="varchar2" value="COUNTRY1" />
    </group>
    - <group name="ShipToAddress" dataType="varchar2" source="Q_MF_CUST_SHIPTO">
    <element name="BuildingNumber" datatype="varchar2" value="BUILD_NUM2" />
    <element name="StreetName" datatype="varchar2" value="STREET_NAME2" />

    <element name="City" datatype="varchar2" value="CITY2" />

    <element name="Email" datatype="varchar2" value="EMAIL_ADDRESS" />
    <element name="WebSite" datatype="varchar2" value="URL" />
    </group>

    <PostalCode>95053</PostalCode>

    </ShipToAddress>
    <Telephone>8441212</Telephone>
    <Fax />
    <Email />
    <WebSite />
    </Customer>
    is anyone able to advise?
    Rani

    If you know the changes necessary then you could write an XSL transformation to do them. But a generalized piece of code that examined an XML document and a schema, then produced a corrected document, would be quite difficult to write.

  • Can i have xml elements with same name but one is having attrbt..?

    Hi all,
    I am suppose to take input from one system into BPEL.That system is auto gererating xml file. But that file is strange. It has two xml element with
    same name but with completely different sequence. First one is having two comlexTypes while second is having 5 simple types.
    Now the difference is First element is having attribute while second is not.
    So is that file is correct.?
    thanks a lot.
    /mishit

    can you post the file? or load the file into JDeveloper and check the syntax or use XMLSpy for validation of the XML.

  • JMS Queue XML: Elements with same name

    Hi
    I notice that ODI does not do a good job of reverse-engineering JMS queue models where an element name is referenced in different parts of the schema.
    For example:
    root
    ..body
    ...consignment
    ....load
    .....event
    ....unload
    .....event
    etc
    In the above, ODI will reverse-engineer the 'event' element under 'load', but not the one under 'unload'.
    I don't have control over the xsd models and was therefore wondering if there is some sort of workaround I can perform in this scenario?
    Cheers

    Actually, I just found the following Oracle note sums this up: 757642.1
    Is it possible to use the SAME ELEMENT as a SUB-ELEMENT in multiple DIFFERENT Elements of an XML File?
    If so, what is the impact of this approach on the reverse engineered Model and Datastores and how can Integration Interfaces be set up to map these identical ELEMENT for which the content is semantically different and as a result to be used differently in different Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Integration Interfaces.
    The following XML is a simple example in which the ITEM Element is logically set as a sub-element to three other XML Elements:
    •Shoppinglist
    •GroceryStore
    •HardwareStore
    <Shoppinglist>
    <Item>ShoppingList</Item>
    <GroceryStore>
    <Item>Eggs</Item>
    <Item>Milk</Item>
    <Item>Bread</Item>
    </GroceryStore>
    <HardwareStore>
    <Item>Screwdriver</Item>
    <Item>Hammer</Item>
    <Item>Nails</Item>
    </HardwareStore>
    </Shoppinglist>Solution
    Such an approach must be avoided. This is a strict limitation of the ODI XML Driver.
    See Bug:8563428 DUPLICATE SUBELEMENTS WITH DIFFERETNT TYPES ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY XML DRIVER
