XML Report Excel Output Numeric & Character value left aligned

Hi,
I want the XML Report Excel ouput both numberic and character values to be left aligned in the report ouput. Currently my report excel ouput prints the number value right aligned and character value left aligned.
I have tried to concat a space to the value to make that as a character value, but this gives a extra space in the report output, which shld not happen..
Please could anyone help me with a solution.

You are making number as a string, by adding a character :) , so it will be displayed as string with space and not as number.

Hello All,
While working on XML Report we need to show output in excel format. One of the out put value is “00110E001”. but when displaying in excel is shows "1.00E+0" and default behavior of MS Excel is if the any number data contains “E” then excel will convert those records in exponential format. But our client required those data which are present in database i.e. “00110E001”.

XML Report - Excel output automatic cell expand

Hi,
I created a XML report with Excel output. It works fine but I have 35 columns in that report.
When I open the excel file - columns are not expanded, user needs to expand it manually.
But It should automatically expanded when the user opens the report. How can i do that?

You need to create the rtf template with enough width for each column to render the output fully expanded when viewed from BI Publisher Desktop, which will look the same when run as a concurrent request. If you used the table wizard to create your excel layout, you can widen the columns in Word and paste/enter some spaces before or after each header field in the top row which will force the html rendering that XML Plublisher utilizes to widen the columns when creating Excel output. The fundamental disconnect here is XML Publisher is not rendering .xls or .csv output, but rather html that opens in Excel minus most Excel formatting. You might need to use a 22 inch landscape layout to fit all 35 columns after they are widened.

How to open a form from Oracle XML Report .xls Output?

We have a requirement wherein we have one complex SQL query, requirement is to fetch the data from that query and show it to the user. So far, so good. We can either create a report thru' UTL file to show the output to the user or can create a XML report whose output can be in the excel format.
Now user wants to have a hyperlink i.e. when he clicks the BSA (Blanket Sales Agreement) from the report output, it should be able to route him to BSA screen (oracle form), so that he can directly correct the issue with that corresponding BSA on which he clicked.
i.e. requirement is to create a a hyperlink from report output which will route the user to that oracle form with the BSA queried.
Not sure how can we implement this. If anybody has come across this type of requirement, please share your ideas and the approach used so as to accomplish this. Any inputs on this will be highly appreciated.

we create reports in an XML format using http://matzberger.de/oracle/spreadsheet-en.html.
Within these files you can create hyperlinks to a forms application like
http://<applicationserver>/forms/frmservlet?config=xy&p_autoinit_module=ab&p_autoinit_arg=123
With these parameters we call a default forms module (welcome screen) and then start module ab and execute a query for 123. The user then can directly access the data he needs.

The steps mentioned in the doc is what i did in order.
I couldn't understand the step # 13 & 14.
Log in as XML Publisher Administrator
Navigate to Administration --> Font Files --> Create Font File
Available fields are Font Name and File
--> for Font Name, choose any descriptive name
--> file will browse your PC to locate the font file
Navigate to Font Mappings -->Create Font Mapping Set
Mapping name is the name you will give to a set of fonts.
Mapping code is the internal name you will give to this set
Type: 'PDF Form' for PDF templates. 'FO to PDF' for all other template types.
Create Font Mapping (this allows you to add fonts to a set)
Font Family is the exact same name you see in MS Word under Font. If you don't use the same name the font will not be picked up at runtime.
Style and weight must also match how you use the font in the RTF or PDF layout template. Normal and Normal are good defaults.
Language and Territory should remain blank (NULL) unless you have a strong business reason, as these fields can cause the font not to be picked up at runtime.
Navigate to Configuration General -> FO Processing -->Font Mapping Set. This can also be done at Data Definition and Template level, via the corresponding Edit Configuration button on those pages. The hierarchy is Site-> Data Def -> Template.
Select your new mapping set.
Make sure the font is not referenced under File --> Properties --> Custom in the RTF template file.
Under General, set a Temporary Directory. The font will be stored under a /fonts directory at runtime, initially created the first time the font is used.
Upload a template that uses your special font and test using preview or by submitting a concurrent request.

XML REPORT 'S OUTPUT DOESN'T OPEN DIRECTLY IN EXCEL

I have two question
1)
For one of our XML publisher report whose output needs to be displayed in EXCEL format, While submitting this concurrent program we change the "Format" field from PDF to EXCEL as PDF defaults always.
Can we default format to EXCEL only ?
2)
Once the program is completed, upon clicking on the "View Output" button it display the output file. When selecitng Tool -> Copy option it opens in browser automatically.
Can we display the output in EXCEL , similar to a report whose output is PDF and the "Format" is "PDF"

For the 1st question ,i agree with yerroju.
For the 2nd one , Please do the following
1) Set profile option values to 'Browser' for 'Viewer: Application for Text' and 'Viewer: Text' either at site-level or underlined user level.
2) Add following entry to the "Viewer Options" ( Sysadmin --> Install -> Viewer Options)
File_Format Mime Type Description
Excel application/vnd.ms-excel Microsoft Excel
if this entry is there for mime type then leave this step.

XML Publisher Report EXCEL output Huge stored as Web Pages

Hello
I have a XML Publisher Report which generates EXCEL output and the output file size is huge.
What I notice that it is stored as Web Pages *.htm; *.html (Save as Type) in Excel this is the reason it is huge.
If I save as Microsoft Office Excel Workbook *.xls it Reduce the size.
I don't know how to save as ".xls" through XML Publisher using PL/SQL.
Any body knows? please Help..

Hi Vetsrini,
We're on 10.1.3.4.1 and siebel 8.1.1.3 and when trying to open a report from within siebel in the output format EXCEL (selected from the parameter applet), it just opens the document in the browser.
Is there a way to get it to open directly in Excel? I guess the reason is the file extension*.EXCEL, how could we get the extension to be in excel format (xls)?
We don't want our users to have to do this themself.

Xml publisher excel output

I have the rtf-template for xml-publisher report with excel output.
There is the table there. I need format the table according appointed requirements (in output excel file). For example, width of the columns of the table must be fixed width. How I can define width of the columns with xsl language in rtf-template?

There is positive progress there.
For example, I can change height of the heading row of the table by this way:
<xsl:attribute name = "height" xdofo:ctx="block-container">40mm</xsl:attribute>.
These xsl tags I put it in the text field of the rtf template between <?split-column-header:GROUP?> and <?VALUE?> tags (There are dinamic columns in the table).
But <xsl:attribute name = "width" xdofo:ctx="block-container">40mm</xsl:attribute> tags work incorrect, not as I need (Some cells is spanned in the height and division of the text is by the word).
May be I need some others tags? Or I need different object or property?
I want to note that xml-publisher's tags <?split-column-width:@width?> and <?split-column-width:width?> are not working in excel output (or I use it incorrect).
I am really need your help. How I can define exact width of dinamic columns?

Problem with images in XML with excel output

Hello:
I made an XML concurrent program, with excel output, but i am having a problem:
The rtf template has a logo (bmp image), but it is not showing in the excel (if i execute the concurrent in the oracle applications). However, if i create the xml in Oracle Reports in my computer, and then load that xml in the rdf template in word, i can see the logo in the excel preview. I don't know why is it not showing when i execute the program in applications.
If someone can help me with this, i will be very grateful.

xml cP, will not give you a image in excel output,..
In RDF there is a placeholder for image, and the image is located in certain location, at runtime it picks and render the output with logo.
but xml CP, will get the data in xml type and merge with rtf to get the output you wanted..
if you have the rtf with logo embedded in it, if output is of pdf or rtf output , then it will display the logo ,.
in excel currently it is not possible to show the logo,..
excel you see could be xml-excel or csv-excel not the true binary excel.
to get the logo embedded ,for that you have to wait on tim for the excel template, which will be release in near future i guess..

Report not output ENGLISH character

im using 12.1.3,
recently just did a customization report. but the report not output in English character, instead it outputs in Greek or Symbol font in PDF.
i can see the ENGLISH output if i run it in REPORT BUILDER.
my app server is RED HAT 5. I have configured the printer correctly

XML report data output as a email link

Hi Team,
I am in a mid of developing a XML reports using BI Publisher in Oracle EBS 11i.
I am using a procedure to produce to generate my XML tags.
I wish that the data which is displaying a email id as [email protected] i should be able to make it as a hyperlink and if the person click on to this id.
One should be able to send a email to this id.
Any pointers/suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Converting Standard Oracle Report to XML for excel output

I have gone through the steps of copying a concurrent program for a standard report to a new program, changed the output format to xml, ran the new concurrent job, saved the output as a .xml, then using the xml publisher template builder for word (Oracle Patch 5887917) tried to modify record information so each record will be on the same line in an Excel format. I tried de-normalising the hierarchy using the ../.. syntax to traverse up the hierarchy but only the data at the lowest level displays. Has anyone else run into this issue or have any ideas on how I can fix it.
Here is the xml when I insert a table and convert the table to text just so you can see the hierarchy I'm trying to de-normalise; these are all the fields but not in the order I would want them displayed...

OK, figured it out... when you double click on the field to add the ../, you actually need to click on Add Help Text and add the ../ here

XML Report Excel Display Issue

Hello All,
While working on MS-Excel we observed the default behavior of MS-Excel is to show decimal places only when it is greater than 00 i.e. “22.56”
But when the value is “22.00”, MS-Excel will display “22”
Our client required those values with two decimal places. If the value is 22 then it should display 22.00.we already achieved that value with converted those numerical value to character with using TO_CHAR function.but they required data should be display in numerical.
Can anyone please help to achieve this scenario?

we have a rtf template created in ms-word. whatever the xml output generates, it takes the rtf template as a source to display the xml data in ms-excel.
So, we cant change anything in ms excel.. we need to change the rtf template in ms-word..
could you please help in how to set default datatype for numeric values in ms-word.

DATA: CHKBOX TYPE C.
WRITE: CHKBOX AS CHECKBOX INPUT ON.
it will be displayd on output list if click on it It will be ticked or unticked it is fine.
but the value of chkbox is not changed.
but I need to change the value of chkbox regarding to clicking on it(check, uncheck).
