XMLForm Sorting by a form field

Hello,
how can i sort a Renderlistitem by any of the fields in the form?
I think that the layout set is not a solution, because the fields on the form aren´t available.
The solution must be in the XMLForm Builder, isn´t it?
Many thanks,
António Oliveira

Hi António,
how can i map a field entry
Within the forms builder, on the left side, you have the "properties" section; open it, you'll find all available properties. You can also define your own properties within KM, see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/1a/9a4a3b80f2ec40aa7456bc87a94259/frameset.htm and around.
You can just click on such a property and move it onto an inputfield for example, so that the input will be mapped to this property (the property will be filled by the input; if possible).
Hope it helps

  • Gather information from form fields, sort into links for searching

    I have a PDF Acrobat form that I email to about 100 people, they return the completed forms to me and I put all the forms together into a single PDF.This removes the form fields, but leaves the form information that was filled out.
    I need to set up an easy way for people to navigate and search the forms by several criteria: a person's name, their country of origin, company name, and so forth. Other than manually creating links for each of these search criteria, is there a more efficient way?

    You can export the data form the PDF using the FormDataIntegration service.
    Once you have the data in xml format, you can use a setValue and concatenate the value of the two nodes you're interested in.

  • What are the limit of Form Fields?

    Hi all
    I'm quite a new user to Acrobat Form Fields so please forgive any blantant errors...
    A client of mine bascially wants to edit and produce his own versions of posters and ads that I've produced for him.
    Another agency has already told him that it can be done by using Form Fields so now looking into this avenue for him.
    My experience of fields in the past is that are quite limited and should only really be used in areas where information is required - answers to questions, names and addresses etc, etc.
    But, my client wants to actually edit headings and replace logos!!!
    The pic below sort of illustrates the situation....
    Would I be able to set up field that allow the heading to be changed?
    By changed I mean would he be able to add substantially more text (as is a clients want) and thus edit the size of it to fit the space?
    And what about the logo? Would that be able to be changed?
    On the face of it I imagine it's a big fat 'No' and the only solution would be to set up some sort of web based site.
    But I need to explore the possibilies of an Acrobat based file first.
    cheers in antisipation
    Andy

    Text fields can be set up to allow Rich Text Formatting, which means that a user is able to select a font, change the font size, color, and other properties. Logos can be changed by setting up a button (with a layout other than Label only) and using the buttonImportIcon method. The latter allows the user to select a page from another PDF as the source of the button icon, or with Acrobat an image or other type of document that Acrobat knows how to convert to PDF can be used. If your client only has Reader, he would have to use Reader 11 for the buttonImportIcon method to work, and he's only be able to import from PDF, not directly from other formats. But it's fairly easy these dats to convert to PDF without Acrobat.
    The JavaScript that you'd use in the button's MouseUp event would be:
    // Import an icon into this button
    event.target.buttonImportIcon();
    If the PDF will then be distributed, the text fields and button should be set to read-only so the end-users don't mess with it. If this needs to be done with Reader, you can use another JavaScript.

  • Want more robust form fields in InDesign for PDF forms.

    I wish that soon InDesign CS6 Interactive Form Fields will include the COMB field for entering data in various formats such as phone numbers, credit card numbers, using some sort of format like [number of characters] ["(nnn) nnn-nnnn"]. I use comb fields a lot. Likely others do too. I realize that we are at v1.0 in the InDesign Interactive fields, so I hope that the developers will consider this for the next release!
    I long for the power that Acrobat fields have to be implimented in InDesign.

    The powers that be (InDesign product managers, engineers, or other employees) don't frequent this forum. To have you voice heard, file a feature request:

  • Adobe Reader 9.4  won't allow saving-copying-printing of data entered into form fields.

    Hello, all.  I own a fully automated Continuing Education website with a national customer base.  The release of Adobe Reader 9.4 has brought a major problem for us which we haven't been able to overcome, and it's a critical issue which will destroy our business if the problem continues.
    The problem:  Our professionally licensed website users earn online, instantly downloadable Continuing Education certificates in PDF file format, which are auto-generated by our software program when the user has successfully completed a course and its quiz.
    Each certificate is a template created by Adobe Acrobat Pro 6 which contains the boilerplate course goals, credit hours earned for the course, plus all of our educational approval numbers needed to conduct business in each state.  THE PROBLEM HERE is that these generated certificates ALSO have form fields which are auto-completed by our system when the user successfully completes his or her course - i.e., the user's name, his license number, and the date and hour and minute of completion.  Until some of our customers began to use Adobe Reader 9.4 on their PC this past week, the certificate generation process has performed flawlessly - for over 3 years now, for over a thousand customers - the only exception being the  occasional MAC user who needs to download the correct version of Adobe Reader, and to use the correct browser.
    Beginning last week, site users who have downloaded 9.4 can no longer SAVE their Continuing Education certificates to their computer with their name, license and date and time of completion showing on the certificate.   And they can't even print the certificate correctly - their name, license, and date of completion appear as blank lines.  They can't download or email the certificate with the critical form field data showing on the document. This is a devastating situation for our business and for the users - who certainly won't return, and are demanding refunds.
    In fact, I (who installed 9.4 last week) discovered that I can't even download and save an intact copy of a customer's certificate from my own website, OR copy and paste information from a client's generated certificate in order to manually create a certificate for him or her.  The on-screen message tells me that I am not allowed to do this with this document .... despite the fact that I was the creator of the document. Needless to say, when I un-installed 9.4, I had none of these problems.
    Customers wouldn't have problems either if they uninstalled 9.4 - but you can't tell customers who call in to complain, to uninstall their Adobe Reader program and find something else.  They also have to use Adobe Reader to view over half of the courses we offer, and they need to be able to work with them effectively with no problems.
    In the past, because of occasional Adobe Reader problems of a different sort, we could tell customers to use Foxit or Nitro PDF if they had Adobe issues.  But that was back in the day when there was no competition in running an online CE website.  Now there is plenty of competition, and customers will just go elsewhere before they will try to reconfigure their computer just to stay with our site.
    I will bet that hundreds (thousands?) of other online businesses who work with system-generated form fields in PDF documents have been similarly affected.
    Is there a solution here?  Surely this was an UNINTENDED result of  Adobe's upgrade to 9.4.   Is there something that we can do at our end to eliminate these issues?  There are NO security protections or limitations imposed on these certificate documents.  And we CANNOT eliminate the form fields that are filled internally when the customer passes t the course.  Date and time of completion and all the rest are required by all of the States which license us.  Many thanks!

    That was it!
    Thanks

  • Printing "Form Fields Only" not working correctly in Adobe XI

    I have a pdf form with fields including check boxes. If I print this form with all fields it prints correctly, but if I select "Form Fields Only" then all check boxes print as checked regardless of whether or not they are checked. When I use this form in earlier versions of Adobe I do not get this problem. Any ideas or solutions?

    Also the "PrintParams" properties require version 6 or above of Acrobat/Reader.
    One has to review the Acrobat JavaScript API for all sorts of version variations in the way Acrobat's JS object works. And the documention is not always correct.

  • Form field actions in Acrobat 9 Pro

    I have two sort of related issues in a form I've created using 9 Pro.
    1 - I want to use the "reset a form" action with button fields, but Acrobat won't let me select the fields I want to clear.  I get the Reset a Form window that has all the form fields listed with a check box next to each one. The "Select All" and "Deselect All" buttons do what they are supposed to do, but I cannot check or uncheck them individually to select only the ones I want.
    2 - I want to use the "Calculate" function with text fields, but have the same problem as with the "reset a form" function.  I can get to the pick window that has the fields listed with check boxes; and, again, the Select All and Deselect all buttons work, but I cannot check or uncheck individual fields to calculate only those I want.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

    I figured it out! I had the same problem. I clicked, right clicked, center clicked, shift clicked, alt-clicked, tried all the function keys and finally hit the space bar. BINGO! Nowhere do I see anything that tells you to select by hitting the spacebar, but that's the solution.

  • I need to substitute the default font (times roman) in my editable form fields with a san serif...

    I am making a PDF with editable form fields out of InDesign CS6. When I make the interactive PDF, the font, Helvetica Neue  is being substituted with the default font, Times Roman. The client has provided me with last years PDF which has a nice San Serif for the editable fields. I need to change the font either to Helvetica Neue, or at least to a nice San Serif common system font. I have Acrobat X.
    Thanks in advance!!

    I called a friend of mine who walked me through this so I will post the instructions for anyone else who may be having this problem...
    1. Open the PDF with the form fields in a recent version of Acrobat.
    2. Click on the Toolls tab.
    3. Under Forms, click Edit.
    4. Now you will see your fields listed under "Field" > "Sort by"...  "Text Field 1"...  etc.
    5. Holding "control" click where it says "Text Field 1" and some options will pop up.
    6. Click on "Properties".
    7. A "Text Fields Properties" window will pop up.
    8. Click on the "Appearance" tab.
    9. Here you can change your fonts and font sizes.
    Good luck!

  • Re-sort in PDF form

    Hi experts,
    I'm using transaction SFP to develop PDF forms.
    Is it possible to re-sort an internal table in a PDF form.
    Thanks,
    Anja

    More details. Are you asking to change the form fields or the underlying content. If the underlying content you should go back to the original files. If the changes don't affect the placement of the form fields, you can replace the pages in the old pdf file with the new and the form fields will remain.

  • Printing form fields only on Reader

    Before I get to the meat, a little background.  We are in the process of converting all of our forms into PDFs so to keep everything the same across the company.  My company is a contract packager, and we ship out many items.  We have purchased forms for Bills of Lading and Packing slips that have duplicate copies for the back.
    We would like to be able to scan the form into the computer, and create a PDF with text fields to type in the information, but then only print the form field data.  Basically, I want the form to show up on the computer screen but only print the data that's entered.  With Acrobat, I can select in the printer box to print form fields only, but when I put the form on the system and tried it on a computer that only has Reader it doesn't give me the option of printing the fields only.  (I'm the only computer that has and uses Acrobat).
    I'm not a programmer of any sorts, but is there a way to have Reader do what I want it to?
    Thanks in advance for any help!
    Bret

    Hello Eveyone
    My solution for this is simple
    In Adobe Pro, go to menu bar in:
    Documente-->
    Backgroup-->
    Add and Replace or Update
    in Apperance select
    Apperance Options
    remove the check for "SHOW WHEN PRINTING"
    This solved the problem to print forms with background in your company.
    GOOD LUCK

  • Publicly sharing PDF's with form fields, tags and bookmars.

    I'm looking to be able to share a PDF document so that my coworkers are able to acces this document. I'm very aware of various ways to share the PDF, via email or Google Docs, but I need some sort of hosting that will support form fields, tags and bookmarks. It would be very beneficial if everyone would be able to access the PDF after 'sharing' and viewing on a URL. But, I really need them to be able to search and navigate easily through the bookmarks and buttons. We need this shared via internet because sharing the PDF document itself to each individual employe's computer, runs the risk of slowing computers down. Is there anything I can use, some sort of hosting site or program similar to Google Docs that will support these features?

    Note The Adobe PDFviewer requires that users to use Safari or Webkit based Browsers only.
    All gecko based browsers will not work. Adobe made conscious decision when OSX came out Not support gecko based browsers.
    So if you have any of the following Gecko based Browsers you have to use another plugin.
    SeaMonkey (equivelent to the Communicator All-in-one)
    FireFox
    Camino
    OmniWeb
    Opera and others.
    You have to use a Plugin from a fellow named Schubert of Germany, called PDFBrowser Plugin
    It supports all Browsers except Internet Explorer. Makes no difference whether gecko or webkit based. The plugin author is banned by Adobe from putting in forms support.
    And using Apple's Preview will absolute corrupt a PDF Form making it unusable if opened in Reader or Acrobat after being viewed and saved in Preview.

  • Printing Form Fields only .. from Reader

    I am a NEWBIE using Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro. It would be a lot easier if Reader & Pro had the same print options for printing formfields only .. but that's life.
    I have created a form with interactive fields for input. However am having
    difficulty having just the "form fields" only print to the preprinted form.
    I have created a new button and found coding for the printparms ..
    var pp = this.getPrintParams();
    pp.interactive = pp.constants.interactionLevel.silent;
    pp.printContent = pp.constants.printContents.formFieldsOnly;
    pp.pageHandling = pp.constants.handling.none;
    this.print(pp);
    It's my first attempt at XML / Javascript coding and must be missing something because it's not working.
    If anyone has "a sample" of complete code .. it would be really appreciated .. or a brief explaination might get me going.

    Also the "PrintParams" properties require version 6 or above of Acrobat/Reader.
    One has to review the Acrobat JavaScript API for all sorts of version variations in the way Acrobat's JS object works. And the documention is not always correct.

  • Creating a modifiable form field

    Hi,
    I would like to create a modifiable form field that maps onto a directory server multi-valued field. This field should have the ability to add a value or remove a value as well as displaying the contents of the list. I've spent time reviewing the Workflows, Forms and Views (v8) document but it's not clear how to achieve this sort of field. Is it possible?

    The ListEditor component is what you are looking for.
    Check out this code snippet directly from the documentation:
    <Field name='accounts[Sim1].Group'>
      <Display class='ListEditor' action='true'>
        <Property name='listTitle' value='stuff'/>
        <Property name='allowTextEntry'>
          <Boolean>true</Boolean>
        </Property>
        <Property name='ordered'>
          <Boolean>true</Boolean>
        </Property>
      </Display>
      <Expansion>
         <ref>accounts[Sim1].Group</ref>
      </Expansion>
    </Field>The important stuff in this case is the field name, in this case accounts[Sim1].Group. This means you are displaying/modifying the contents of an attribute "Group" on resource "Sim1". Change this to suit your needs.

  • Separating form fields

    I'm new to creating forms. I got a PDF doc from someone that I decided to turn into a form so I could fill it out more easily. It has a lot of checkboxes on it so rather than placing them painstakingly one by one I did a lot of copy/paste. It was much faster because there are sevearl columns of checkboxes. When I went back to the form to fill it in and checked one of the boxes, the all checked at once. That was a huge surprise. I understand why that happened (dumb feature if you ask me) but how do I separate them without deleting them and putting them back one by one. I'm also wondering why the form wizard ignored them. It added fields for all the rest of the form. I should make sure that I'm clear. I know I can select each checkbox and rename them one by one so that they are separate but that's harder than putting them back one at a time. I'm looking for some sort of global button that I can click after selecting them all so that they are no longer named the same or connected. I'm using Acrobat 9 pro fully updated.

    Bill,
    Thanks for your answer but I'm guessing you didn't read my entire post. Created form fields in Acrobat 9 Pro from a PDF doc (that wasn't a form previously) from a client of mine. And I know how to rename things in properties (which I also mentioned). And actually already did that. Was wondering about some automated or global feature that would let me do that in bulk. I got a private answer from someone else telling me it's not possible.

  • Can Form Fields from uploaded WORD docs become Sharepoint columns ?

    Hello -
    We are in the process of uploading many Word docs from Shared drives to Sharepoint (2010 )
    Some of the Word documents have information stored in Form Fields. For Example : BuyerName & SellerName. These fields need to be used in SP for sorting, filtering etc.
    We have tried creating columns on Sharepoint with the same names (BuyerName & SellerName) but the information from the Word docs does not display in the corresponding Sharepoint columns once the docs are uploaded.
    Any advice on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated !
