[Xorg Server] Graphics Drivers for Asus EEE 1101HA

I just installed Arch Linux to my new Asus EEE 1101HA. Everything's fine, just Xserver starts in 1024x768 instead of 1366x768 which is really, really annoying. Which driver shall I use? Everyone's talking about Poulsbo, but it doesn't seem to be so stable (at least what I read). Or is it already reasonable stable? If not, which other drivers are available? Thanks.

thank you very much. I set up uvesafb & 915resolutions and it works. I just have problems with X-drivers - you wrote me in other thread that I should use fbdev and should read about it on wiki. But I can't see any reasonable info about this driver and how to set it up.
ATM I have vesa driver (in my xorg.conf), it works, but 19 FPS is pretty low, I need something faster. With Poulsbo driver I got about 250 I think. I don't need 250 FPS, most of time I'm just doing software development, but I need something better than 19 ... so with uvesafb I can't use the "intel" driver for X? No "i810" or something similar?

Download and run this driver. You will probably get an unsupported operating system error.

Close out of any error windows.
Go to the device manager and click on the video controller needing drivers.
Click on the driver tab. Click on update driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp34749.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.
Reboot and your graphics should be working normally.
You will not have Windows aero because the Intel GMA 900 graphics adapter is not 100% Vista or W7 capable but at least you will be able to change the screen resolution and have graphics acceleration enabled.

There you will find the latest, available Toshiba drivers
But please dont ask when new updates will be released as Jeka mentioned, its user to user forum and such information are not known to the community

YES we are both stating the same thing however in different terms. You will be fine with the updates that you are talking about. Just ensure that the drivers that you are updating match the make/model of your graphics adapter.
If something doesn't work out then you can always revert back to the previous driver.

I'm going to explain my situation, that I think many others have this same problem with the toshiba right now.
1 year ago and some month pass after I got my first laptop Toshiba Satellite L650-11F and in the beginning I was thinking this computer will work without problems for at least 2 years. Well, today I found one "BIG" problem with the toshiba... I can't install the new drivers for my graphic card AMD ATI Mobility RADEON HD 5650 from the official AMD driver website.
Today I buy Battlefield 3 for my machine, but my drivers are old, can't handle the graphics well and the solution is to download the new drivers from AMD, but is impossible. What I ask is for the Toshiba Dev's get the new AMD drivers ready do download as fast as possible, because right now I got in hands a game that was suppose do run without a problems and the old drivers killed the game completly.
I receive all the time new drivers for WLAN all the time, I don't need that. My graphic card don't have updates for almost 1 year, is a joke!

It is well known that display or graphic drivers for mobile units (notebooks) should be downloaded from notebook manufacturers download page. Offered drivers must be tested. Many people have reported the same but, generally speaking, it is nothing new.
Portable units have specific design and built in cooling system is designed to cool down hardware placed in notebook case. New drivers force graphic card can force graphic card to run with more power and offer more performance. More performance means more heat. If the cooling system canot cool down graphic adapter result will be overheating or even hardware damage.
Thats the reason why notebook manufacturers dont offer graphic card drivers update so often as manufacturers for cards designed for desktops.
One other thing: notebooks from series L are not the best machines for gaming. I have used several Toshiba notebooks in the past and it is my personal opinion.

Finding a PKGBUILD for the 2.6.21.4 kernel (for Asus EEE )

I'm trying to build a kernel that will support the Asus Eee's non-source drivers out of the box without ndiswrapper. I also would like to install the whole thing using my pacman. Is there any way to get a complete PKGBUILD for this kernel? If possible, I'd also like to get the associated patches, etc if possible.
I'm basing my hack on some things listed here:

I played with the CVS for awhile, but couldn't find a way to get the kernel 2.6.21.4 PKGBUILD, and I'm not sure if CVS would even do this.
After this, I'll have to compare the PKGBUILD with the config that Asus used on their kernel. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for any help or tips.

What are you talking about - I thought the PKGBUILDs were publicly available. Atleast I can see them - and you could certainly create your own although with a little difficulty for such an early kernel - but It should be possible

Where can i find Win8 graphic drivers for Qosmio X870-BT2G23?

Hello, I brought the new Qosmio X870.
It comes with Seagate Mumentos XT 750GB hybrid drive, I have installed Intel 120GB SSD on the free slot and 1st surprise no option for RAID on BIOS.
As top of the line gaming machine this option should be available.
But lets go to the point, because I dont use windows 7 home on my network I am installing Window 8 consumer preview (on the SSD drive) so I can use Hyper-v for my work and make some gaming on free time, and 2nd surprise Toshiba support site as no drivers for my model the site not even recognize my model existence, search by serial number did find the model but not even 1 download available.
Now 3rd surprise can't find option to download driver for Nvidia GTX 670M on Nvidia site, or any other of the new mobile boards from Nvidia.
After some research I managed to find model X870-BT2G23 on Toshiba TW support site and get the drivers for the other unknown devices in device manager.
So my question is where can we find the driver for the Nvidia GTX 670M?

Sorry for the delay on follow up, because I've been busy.
In the same day I was able to extract the graphics driver from the original installation and installed on the windows 8 OS.
I am sorry, maybe is my English, but I don't want the Windows 8 drivers, I want the original drivers and software available on support page. I cannot understand that an international company like Toshiba is selling a new product but no drivers CD included and no reference for the new product on the support page, a good and fast support is essential on modern global business.
Nvidia auto detect feature on Nvidia driver download page now correctly identifies GTX 670M but says that the graphic card as specially tailored by the notebook manufacturer and the driver should be downloaded from the manufacturer download site.
Other open question is the possibility to choose RAID on BIOS since the chipset as able to do it, and to be able to accelerate drive access with Intel Smart Response technology (use a SSD disk to speed access to the main disk), or to configure 2 SSD drives in stripe (RAID 0). Sorry but the mumentos XT hybrid is a good disk but lacks the kind of performance this machine can deliver.
So now all devices are correctly identified on device manager, the only thing I miss at the moment is the software for the special keys on the keyboard and some of the software originally installed for the Blu-ray, because I really don't want the huge amount of software that came with the original windows 7 home on my start up.
The Qosmio X870 is lighting fast with Windows 8 on a really old Intel SSD, can't wait to try 2 SSD new generation on RAID 0 (maybe one day), here is Windows performance index
Processor: 7,8
Memory (RAM): 8,8
Graphics: 5,8
Gaming Graphics: 6,5
Primary hard disk: 7,8
The low 5,8 on windows aero is because Nvidia GTX 670M don't kicks in till the 3D tests, the original disk scored 5,6 so even if this is not an last generation SSD 7,8 is a huge difference.
Waiting for the original drivers and software on the support site......

I need help updating the graphic drivers for my laptop.

Recently purchasd a new game and I am having some issues with the graphics. Every post I have read suggests it is an issue between HP and amd. I keep trying and seem to be going backwards. I would love to actually talk to someone from hp but they haven their number very well. I have tried every combination between hp and amd and I am obviously missing something. Graphics drivers for e550 on Ubuntu

I recently purchased an e550 - 8gb ram and the hybrid Intel/radeon graphics set - up. I've installed Ubuntu 14.04 in a dual boot setup. Occasionally I am seeing missing characters in text field so I believe I need to tweak it replace the auto installed graphics drivers. Any suggestions for what drivers are best for this setup!

Had the same issue on my e550.
The fact is it happened only on a session and not another. So i assumed it was not a driver issue. I deleted the /;compiz /.gconf folders and reboot. It worked again !
I assumed it was more a config problem than a driver one.
On this model, the only anoying stuff is the trackpad driver not recognise the double finger scroll and makes me triple touch to click (and double touch to acces certain menus).
Think those are drivers issues

Unable to install AMD 6770m graphic drivers for dv6t-b600, System crashes

I have Hp pavilion dv6t-b600
Windows 8 pro 64bit
Product number: QJ920AV#ABA
My laptop came with windows 7 and AMD graphic card 6770m.It worked fine with it untill the problem in fan arised. It used to heat up alot. I replaced the fan and installed windows 8.
When i tried to install AMD drivers which i downloaded from HP official website by giving my product number it got stuck and a black screen appeared and my whole data was corrupted and i had to install new windows once again. It happened twice. I lost all of my important files in it as well. Drivers were 64 bit and for windows 8.
I did everything right.
Now windows is working fine withoud AMD graphic drivers again every thing works fine except the AMD drivers. I am unable to install the drivers. I just tried to install it again and while installation it says screen may flicker or completly go black during installation but when it goes black nothing happens. Its stucks.
I have updated BIOS from F.19 to F.1C but still no luck. Please give me the solution ASAP

I grasp that you had to replace the fan on the notebook and you have installed Windows 8.
How did you install Windows 8, was it an upgrade or a complete install from a Windows disk?
When I checked the HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide for you notebook I see that you have switchable graphics.
As your notebook is a CTO (custom to order) I am unsure if you have dual AMD GPUs or Intel +Amd GPUs so I am including both links.

Download and save the chipset driver, and both graphic drivers.
Delete the current drivers the chipset
Install the chipset driver and restart your notebook. Restarting the notebook is an important step and must not be omitted.
Delete the graphic drivers
Now install the graphics drivers.
Restart your notebook.

M70-147 graphics drivers (for the 3rth time)

Ok this is the 3rth time im askig when r they going to release new graphics drivers?
I have problems with Star wars galaxies, it always chashes (virtual memory issues)when i want to switch to a alternate character (if i play more then 30 min on 1 character).
I know about the hardware lock and i wont use drivers like omega or somthing like that bc im still in warrenty.
And please dont give me the default answer about that my laptop is a new model and that they dont have new drivers yet getting pretty boring here always getting the same answer.
I never had ne problems with my normal pc and i cant put my normal pc up due to lack of space i have.

I completely agree with Ivan.
The problem is that the Toshiba graphic drivers are not similar with the original manufacturers graphic drivers.
The original graphic drivers are designed for desktop PC usage not for notebook. The notebook graphic driver supports a overheating protection and controls the performance of the graphic chip. If the temperature increases the driver decreases the graphic card performance.
This is very important because notebooks have no own graphic card cooling module.
The fact is that nobody knows when the new drivers are available. You can check also other notebooks with the same graphic card. Maybe there you will find a new driver.
The other drivers like omega or original manufacturers drivers you can use at your own risk.

Are Graphics Drivers for the Thinkpad Edge E520 going to be brought up to date?

The Lenovo supplied drivers for the Radeon 6630M installed in the E520 haven't been updated since early 2012. Meanwhile ATI released v14 of the drivers just a few months ago (mid 2014). The E520 is now 5 versions behind with it's drivers, and the ATI supplied driver is incompatible.
Does Lenovo have any intention of releasing a compatible version of the latest drivers for the 6630M or are we supposed to muddle along without further support for this piece of hardware?

There are other problems with the old drivers.I can upgrade IE10 to IE11 due incompatibily with this hybrid graphics driver.
I can't update the lastest IE10 security updates for July 2014 due to incompatibily with this hybrid graphics driver.
I'm sure upgraing to IE12 will fail as well.
In January 2016 Microsoft will stop support for IE10 on Windows 7.:
