XPLITE ON ASUS EEE WONT INSTALL N81 DRIVERS

I have been trying to set up my wifes n81 to act a modem for her asus eee. The asus eee is running on xplite(condensed windows xp.)When the phone is connected to the asus by usb cable it recognises it and seems to be trying to download drivers but eventually a ballon comes up saying that drivers could not be installed. I am assuming that the relevant "software" to download these drivers has been cropped for the xplite. Can anyone tell me how to add this missing feature or where to go from here. I have managed to pair the n81 as a modem with my laptop running full Vista and so a guess xplite is short of something. Thanks in advance. Jim

You don't need to install anything, ath9k has been part of the kernel for a loooooong time. Rather than trying to install random drivers, you should diagnose why wireless doesn't work out of the box. The first place to look is dmesg, so after you try to connect, run dmesg and then post here it's output.

  • Windows Vista wont install Ipod drivers

    OK I NEED HELP....
I have Windows Vista and I am trying to install my iPod Nano, but everytime I plug my iPod in it ask me to insert the CD that came with it. As I don't have a CD I just click to install drivers automatically. Than it gives me an error saying 'unable to install drivers'. The divers do show up in the device manger under- other devices but there is a little warning sign next to it. So I right click on it and update driver, which it then tells me that it can't update driver. I have the latest version on iTunes and Quicktime, and I have also done a restore on my pc. Spoken to Apple 4 times!!! got no where with them. My iPod works fine on Windows XP machine, but not my Windows Vista. Has anyone else had any troubles with Vista??

I'm not sure my problem with Vista is the same. New computer with Vista, and I'm trying to transfer my library from old computer to new one. I loaded latest version of iTunes. When I put in my apple ID, my acct balance and items in my shopping cart appeared. When I connect my iPod, it is recognized.
I found an article that gave two options for copying library to new computer. One was to use backup discs to RESTORE, and the other was to use the iPod as a hard drive. It says that it will ask if I want to restore when I insert backup disc, but it does not ask. I tried Import, but tht didn't work either. When I connect my iPod, it doesn't copy the contents from there either. It only gives me the option of erasing iPod and loading what is on new library (which is only about 12 songs). I get a msg that I am synced to another library and can only be synced to one. I still got that msg after I deauthorized the old one.
Any suggestions on how to load music onto new library?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Finding a PKGBUILD for the 2.6.21.4 kernel (for Asus EEE )

I'm trying to build a kernel that will support the Asus Eee's non-source drivers out of the box without ndiswrapper.  I also would like to install the whole thing using my pacman.  Is there any way to get a complete PKGBUILD for this kernel?  If possible, I'd also like to get the associated patches, etc if possible.
I'm basing my hack on some things listed here:
    http://cliffhacks.blogspot.com
I played with the CVS for awhile, but couldn't find a way to get the kernel 2.6.21.4 PKGBUILD, and I'm not sure if CVS would even do this.
After this, I'll have to compare the PKGBUILD with the config that Asus used on their kernel.  We'll see how it goes.  Thanks for any help or tips.

However, one has been inserted into the aur mix by raymano and it is for kernel 2.6.23.9-1.
What are you talking about - I thought the PKGBUILDs were publicly available. Atleast I can see them - and you could certainly create your own although with a little difficulty for such an early kernel - but It should be possible

  • [Xorg Server] Graphics Drivers for Asus EEE 1101HA

I just installed Arch Linux to my new Asus EEE 1101HA. Everything's fine, just Xserver starts in 1024x768 instead of 1366x768 which is really, really annoying. Which driver shall I use? Everyone's talking about Poulsbo, but it doesn't seem to be so stable (at least what I read). Or is it already reasonable stable? If not, which other drivers are available? Thanks.

    Hi skottish,
thank you very much. I set up uvesafb & 915resolutions and it works. I just have problems with X-drivers - you wrote me in other thread that I should use fbdev and should read about it on wiki. But I can't see any reasonable info about this driver and how to set it up.
ATM I have vesa driver (in my xorg.conf), it works, but 19 FPS is pretty low, I need something faster. With Poulsbo driver I got about 250 I think. I don't need 250 FPS, most of time I'm just doing software development, but I need something better than 19 ... so with uvesafb I can't use the "intel" driver for X? No "i810" or something similar?

  • Installing Arch on Asus Eee, Already Read the Wiki [Solved]

I'm attempting to install Arch on my Asus Eee 701 (4GB SSD model) and I made a mistake that I'm having trouble correcting.  First, I accidentally wrote the image to my Eee's SSD, instead of my USB drive.  I tried to install Arch with the installer on my SSD, set up the partitions (one for /, one for /boot, and one for /home), but when I issued the command, it told me that the disk was in use.  It was then that I realized what I did.  I used an Ubuntu LiveCD on another computer to burn the image file again, this time to my USB drive.  I booted my Eee from the USB drive and tried to partition my SSD again, but this time, it tells me:
    Device or resource busy
This disk is currently in use - repartitioning is probably a bad idea.
Unmount all file systems, and swapoff all swap partitions on this disk.
Use the --no-reread flag to suppress this check.
Use the --force flag to overrule all checks.
When I boot from my SSD, I get the same message, so I'm not even 100% certain that I booted from my USB drive before.  My USB drive's activity light was on though.
Is there any way to fix this?  Also, given that I have an SSD, what partitions should I set up and how big should they be?  I can't find any concrete numbers in the wiki.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I'll try that, thanks.  What would happen if I dismounted the SSD with -f if it was in use?
EDIT:  I just realized that when I go into the installer, it lets me set up partitions manually (I run the installer, pick "Prepare Hard Drive", "Partition Hard Drives", "/dev/sda").  But how should I set them up?  When I test it by just making one 4GB partition, it tells me, "Wrote partition table, but re-read table failed.  Reboot to update table."  So I rebooted, and it appears to work.  So I deleted that partition, made a 512MB one, rebooted, and repeated until I had 3 partitions in ext2, a 512MB (sda1, bootable), 512MB (sda2), and one roughly 2.5GB (sda3).  I then went to "Set Filesystem Mountpoints", said "NONE" for the swap (due to the avoiding pitfalls section of the wiki), picked "/dev/sda1" as "/" in ext2, made "/dev/sda2" as ext2 called "/var", and made "/dev/sda3" in ext2 called "/home", then said "DONE".  When I say "Yes" as the confirmation prompt, I get this message:
    Error creating filesystem: mke2fs /dev/sda1
I hit enter and get dropped back to the "Prepare Hard Drive" menu.  I followed this section of the Beginner's Guide too.
Is there any way to fix this?

    Hello IamTrying,
you are aware that Arch is primarily a help yourself system? Thus some simple forum search would have provided the links karol posted.
Just continue there. If any specific questions remain, feel free to open a new thread and ask to the point.
And, yes, be sure to read the forum etiquette I linked to above, esp. in the "Life is a Two-way Street" section the hint on "help vampirism".

  • Vista Business 64 on iMac - drivers wont install

I installed Vista Business 64 bit on my 2.4 GHz iMac. The install went fine until I got to the initial boot of Vista. When I inserted the Mac disk to install the drivers, a little dialogue box popped up and said that Vista x64 was not supported on my computer. Oh really? The operating system runs just fine, but it isn't any good without the Apple drivers for networking, etc... Does anyone know of a workaround for this? Why does Apple get to dictate which version of Windows I run on the computer that I bought and paid for? If they support 32 bit Windows, what is the difference if the support 64 bit Windows? Too much competition, I guess.

Unfortunately, the iMacs are not officially supported by Apple for use with 64-bit versions of Windows. They enforce this lack of support with their Boot Camp drivers installer. I won't pretend to understand why the MacBook Pro and MacPro models are the only officially supported models for 64-bit Windows...but, that's the way Apple wants it for now.
I've put Vista 64-bit on 24" iMacs before, and, it just takes some creative driver installation. I didn't chase down trying to get everything functional (e.g. the Boot Camp Control Panel).
For the wired ethernet: Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet Drivers (obtain from Marvell's site)
For the sound: Realtek HD Audio Drivers (obtain from Realtek's site)
For the video: Obtain the latest ATI Catalyst driver package. Use Mobility Modder to enable them for install on your iMac (http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php)

  • Vista 5242 audigy 4 wont install drivers

I have windows vista build 5342 on my desktop which currently has an internal pci audigy 4 card...i installed the "SBAX_PCDVTBETA_US_2_08_0002" driver creative has put out for such audio cards. After i installed, i restarted, and still no audio card installed!! is there something im missing? PLEASE HELP!!!

I've just spent the last 3 days trying to get some kind of sound out of my SB live 24 on build 5384. Nothing! I've tried every conceivable combination of drivers (including the old '05 vista drivers) and still nothing. Now Vista is in an endless loop of booting and "installing device drivers" until it finds nothing and gives up until next boot. Infuriating. Part of the beta process is to see what works and doesn't work on Vista. Well, we know SB's don't work.

  • Windows 7 apple drivers wont install on Boot Camp

Im on Lion and installing to windows 7 professional

Pull all but the drive Windows will go on.
To use dual processor you'd want Windows 7 Pro x64 (System Builder $129)
In fact, you don't even need Boot Camp Assistant when installing on a dedicated drive, just boot Windows DVD and format the drive and partiton as you like.

Unfortunately it will probably take longer to trouble shoot then to just reinstall Windows. That would be my suggestion now. Re-installing takes about the same time as an erase-install of the Windows partition so I would suggest the latter. No need to re-format it.
It happens, Windows just won't play right sometimes.
If you have the Apple Software Updater and the Boot Camp control panel then it sounds like they were installed but Windows just isn't seeing the important ones.
Are you familiar with Windows 7? We need to know what you know to help better.
What do you get when you try to get on the internet? Does the Device Manager have any issues showing? If you open the Devices and Features control panel do you see any Apple drivers?

  • SBlive 5.1 Digital, Drivers wont install. I've tried everything

    Hey,
Guess I'll try my luck here
I have a SoundBlaster Li've 5. Digital card. Model # SB0220. I lost the install CD, but I was able to download a copy of the install CD. I recently wiped my dri've because I was getting hit up with adware and stuff (It was that time anyway). And now I can't my SBLi've drivers installed. When I try and run setup from the CD, it just says I don't have an SBLi've sound card. However, Windows does detect it. I've tried everything and it's just not working. No drivers from the web work. Creatives auto update doesn't work (Cant find the card). Is there anything else I can do? I'm going crazy...
    Thanks

I have what I believe is the cure for the card detection problem. Anytime I post it, the post is usually ignored and the responses to the problem continue to be to move the card to another slot, make sure your card is a retail version otherwise contact your OEM distributer for a replacement cd, etc. Nobody seems to want to try my solution, although it has worked for me everytime I've encountered the problem. I hope this helps you.
Okay. So, the Creative installer tells you to install a SoundBlaster audio hardware or go away. What to do?
If you've got the install cd, locate CTZAPP.EXE in the Audio\English\Drivers folder. If you've got the Uni-Pack download, extract the file with WinZip or WinRar and locate the CTZAPP.EXE file in the drivers folder. Run it. If it's one of the newer ones that have the check box for "replace, overwrite any previously installed Creative drivers and software," then check that box and answer yes to confirm when asked. Reboot when prompted by the CTZAPP program.
Upon reboot and Windows is loading, you may get an error message about regrun not found. If you don't, great, but it hasn't negati'vely effected my installations either way. Once Windows is completely loaded, restart the computer again. This is important!
You may now run either the cd or the Uni-Pack setup program and it will magically not have the detection problem. If you're running the cd setup, uncheck Windows Drivers but install the rest. After the reboot, locate the 4MB Soundfont file in the Audio\Common folder on the cd and copy it to your Windows\System32 folder. You'll then be able to load it into both Soundfont Banks with the Soundfont Manager. If you're running the Uni-Pack download, then install all of it including the Windows Drivers. This way you'll get the 4MB Soundfont to install from its hidden compressed cab within the Uni-Pack. Upon reboot, however, you'll find that Windows Device Manager will only show three of the many driver files that should be there. Simply either run CTZAPP.EXE to reinstall the WDM driver over itself or use the Device Manager's Update Driver button and choose the Have Disk button to point Windows to the previously extracted Uni-Pack driver file. Cd users won't have this problem since they are choosing not to install Windows Drivers during the setup process.
This has worked for me with several different Li've! cards and on 98, Me, XP. The only problem might be if you get the error when using the older driver series for Li'veware 3.0 (98 users who want the VXD's for the dos support). I couldn't locate a CTZAPP for those drivers, and simply installing the drivers using Windows hardware detection works, but the Li'veware installer still thinks you don't have a SoundBlaster hardware installed. So, you get the drivers but no software. That's a rare problem though. It's mostly the newer installers that have this bug.
And, it is a bug. This happens whether you have a boxed retail card that the software is designed for or an OEM. It doesn't matter. Usually, a fresh install of Windows on a formatted hard dri've will solve it, but I think you'll agree that my way is nicer! The problem has happened almost every time if I've ever uninstalled the Li've! software or drivers. Run the installer, and it won't detect the card properly. Weird.

  • Boot Camp Drivers wont Install on Windows 7

    Hi
I recently instllaled Windows 7 on my MacBook running Lion and when i go to install the drivers on Windows 7 it says "BootCamp x64 is incompatable with this model"
How do i get the drivers to install?
    Cheers

You download drivers from Boot Camp Assistant. Look there.
In the past the drivers were all on your DVD from OS X and would copy them to Desktop in Windows.
Back then, the folder was inside something like Apple \ Drivers \ .... \ Bootcamp64.msi
You can still search Explorer for "Bootcamp64" as well as search these forums.
    Others have done same.

  • XP SP3 sound drivers wont install...

Well, since I had to re-install XP completely i had to re-install the drivers too. The sound drivers for SigmaTel WILL NOT WORK. It starts install then a message pops up saying that 'Another instance of the program is already running. Please close...' I forgot the rest. The point is that i somehow got the sound drivers to install and everything worked fine on my previous installation. I dont know what I did so does anybody have any ideas? I think I may have installed a Sony driver for the equivalent of the Apple one...

Your post(s) are very confusing and therefore you are not getting the responses that you seek.
I want to post this to ensure that you have done the following:
    1. Used Boot Camp Assistant to remove your previous installation completely and restored your HD to one single volume.
    2. Used Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows XPSP3 (Your version is SP3 I believe) again.
    3. Once installation was completed, you inserted the *Leopard Installation Disk* in your drive so that *Boot Camp drivers version 2.0" get installed automatically.
    4. Rebooted Computer (Your sound should work at this point but may not have)
    5. Used *Apple Software Update* to download and install *Boot Camp drivers version 2.1*
    6. Rebooted Computer (This will complete version 2.1 installation)
Have you done all of the above and in that order?
