  • How to create a page break in PDF output

    Hi there
    Does anyone know how to create a page break in the PDF output when using the EXPORT TO PDF command?
    I can create a page break using the page-break-after/before HTML stylesheet command, but this is not "interpreted" when the PDF is generated, and I am required to print each table in my web template on a new page.
    Please ... been searching for ages for a solution to this and can't find anything.

  • Getting a extra space between the line in the PDF output

    I an having the rtf templete contains a table . That table contains 3 row and for the second row i have a for loop start at 1st column and end's at last column . first and 3rd row are the simple data donot have any for loop .
    So in the PDF out put of the templete gives me extra blank line between the data for the 2nd row.
    Example
    1st row ------ Contains data field
    2nd row For Each grouph data fields End for
    3rd row --------- Contains data field
    On the PDF output the data which is in the for loop ( 2nd row ) takes one more extra line ( space ) between the record .

  • Add line break in pdf

    We have a form that users input
    biliography information (name of book, pages, date published, etc) into a text area. they can input multiple articles at once in the text area. is there a way to intoduce a line break on the pdf in between each article? meaning can we tell the users to input something like a % in between articles and have then some how introduce a line break on the pdf for every %?

    You can use the coldfusion replace function to replace any string with either an html break tag, or the appropriate chr functions, depending on how you are generating your line breaks.  That's the easy part.
    The first hard part is to get 100% of your users to do what you want 100% of the time.
    The second part is to figure out the difference between a  symbol, such as a percentage sign, that is supposed to indicate a line break as opposed to simply being part of the article.

  • How to put line break in the text

    Hi guys,
    This is a simple problem.i don't know how to concat a line break while creating a text.
    I am looping through the results of a query and want to form the text using the results.
    For each row of the resultset,I want to create a new line in the text i create.
    I was wondering how to put a new line in the text.
    I thought I can concat '\n' ,but it does not work.
    the code snippet in the procedure is :
    for c1_rec in c1 loop
    vMsg := ' There are ' || c1_rec.total ||
         ' documents of type ' || c1_rec.doc_type || '\n' ;
    end loop;
    Please give the solution.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you Mark.
    I tried your suggestion.But line break is not working in email.
    Here is how my code is
    in procedure 1 ,i create the message String as :
    for c1_rec in c1 loop
    vMsg := vMsg || ' ' || today_str || ' - ' || c1_rec.total ||
         ' Total inbound documents from : ' || c1_rec.target_value || CHR(13)||CHR10) ;
    dbms_output.put_line(' ' || vMsg);
    end loop;
    --here sending mail calling another procedure
    sendmail( '[email protected]' ,'[email protected]' , 'Test Subject ' , vMsg );
    In Procedure 2( i.e sendmail procedure )
    i am preparing email server connection from and to adresses .Then i am preparing and sending message as
    crlf VARCHAR2( 2 ):= CHR( 13 ) || CHR( 10 );
    conn:= utl_smtp.open_connection( EmailServer, Port );
         utl_smtp.helo( conn, EmailServer );
         utl_smtp.mail( conn, SENDER);
         utl_smtp.rcpt( conn, RECEIVER )
    mesg:= 'Subject: ' || SUBJECT || crlf ||
                   'Date: '||TO_CHAR( SYSDATE, 'Dy, dd Mon yyyy hh24:mi:ss' )||

                   '' || crlf || MESSAGE ;
         utl_smtp.data( conn, mesg );
         utl_smtp.quit( conn );
    even now the mail we are getting is not having the line break.I am having line break in dbms output,but not in the mail.
    Is there any mistake how I am sending the mail.Or is there any other way we can put line break in the text

  • Carriage Returns / Line Breaks & PDF

    I have a requirement to display a customers address in 1 column of a PDF report.
    The address is stored in the RPD as Address1, Address2, etc. etc.
    I use the answer of the question "Carriage Returns / Line Breaks" as a basic startup.
    ( Question Registered the 02/24/10 from user12673225 )
    I get a great result in the HTML report.
    But, when I print the report in PDF the HTML control codes appear in the PDF report.
    e.g.
    LTHEA A | P.O. BOX 877 *<br* | KY | VERNON A 100000479 |
    VERNON | /> GRAND...........|....|.............................|
    ...........| CAYMAN.............|....|.............................|
    ...........| KY1-1103 *<br*......|....|.............................|
    ...........| /> CAYMAN.........|....|.............................|
    ...........| ISLANDS.............|....|.............................|
    Presently I generate the report in HTML then I convert it in PDF format.
    Is there a way to print the report directly in PDF without the html control appearing in clear in the pdf file. Is is possible to do the job in one step only?

    Hi Will,
    The [   instead of   <  does not work.
    The character "[" is not recognized as an HTLM control code.
    It worth the try.

  • Line objects not showing in pdf output in xmlp 5.6.1

    Hello,
    Is there a bug or just a version issue when trying to produce pdf output using xmlp 5.6.1 Enterprise Edition from a template built in xmlp 5.6.2 stand alone? Different versions of pdf too. The xmlp 5.6.1 EE uses Adobe 7.0.7 and I use 7.0.0 for my dpf output. The issue is that the template built using 5.6.2 has line objects in the rtf file. When this template is registered in xmlp 5.6.1 EE and the report is generated the lines don't show up in the pdf.
    Any one?
    Ryan

    I opened a TAR and here is the answer. My template definition was wrong because I directly used my data template xml file to define my template using template builder.
    Here are all the steps to use XML data template under apps.
    To use data templates, do the following:
    1- Create the data template similar to the following structure
    2- Login to responsibility "XML PUBLISHER ADMINISTRATOR" -> Data Definition
    2.1 upload the data template (that is made in step1)
    2.2 Insert a new code that is not find the concurrent request short name.
    3- Login to system administrator -> concurrent -> program -> define (define a new concurrent request as following)
    3.1 use execute XDODTEXE (it takes the data definition in step 2 and shall execute the query to obtain XML output)
    3.2 Output format = XML
    3.3 request short name as that defined in step (2.2)
    4- Add the request to a request group
    5- The the concurrent request and get the created XML output
    6- Use the created XML Output in (step 5) to create your template layout using Template builder vers
    ion 5.5
    7- After creating the template go to responsibility "XML PUBLISHER ADMINISTRATOR" -> Templates
    7.1 define a new template
    7.2 use the same data definition that you created at (step 2)
    7.3 Use the same code as in step (2.2)
    After all the above steps you shall get the output as you wish. The main link between Data template and the concurrent request that execute the data template to generate the XML output is the request short name and the data template code.
    Hint:
    request short name = data template code.

  • Output with line breaks seemingly randomly placed

    Hola -
    I've adapted Tyler Muth's RSS feed article (http://tylermuth.wordpress.com/2008/01/22/producing-rss-from-plsql/) for the most part successfully; however, my output has breaks in the lines at inappropriate places, often in the mddle of an XML element tag for example. The placement of the breaks varies if I change the values of l_idx, l_len, l_defrows, l_maxrows, and l_desclen, but the breaks persist. They're not reflected in the code below but I've added the utl_file.fflush to no good effect.
    Examples of broken output:
    <pre>

    Or have a look at the Oracle Documentation, for instance at the parameters for utl_file.fopen
    max_linesize Maximum number of characters for each line, including the
    newline character, for this file (minimum value 1, maximum
    value 32767). If unspecified, Oracle supplies a default value of
    1024.It wouldn't surprise me if your randomly placed line breaks are all 1023 characters a part.

  • Strange artifacts on PDF output (when a line is in close proximity to a box)

    Hello all,
    I am hoping that someone can suggest a solution for this purplexing issue.
    I have a rectangle (actually occurs on similar rectangle image boxes or text boxes) that connects to a line (Japanese Dots). Whenever the line is near the rectangle, their is a faint but noticable white line surrounding the rectangle.
    When I initiate EDIT mode in Adobe Acrobat, it reveals that the PDF output/distilled version is introducing this artifact by separating part of the image into a 'chunk'. The artifact (or white line) is the border surrounding this image chunk!
    Also, it is important to add that if I move the line away from the rectangle, the faint white line vanishes.
    Please see attachment.
    Any ideas about how to fix this?

    Rob Day wrote:
    Either export with live transparency (PDF/X-4) or if you have to distill make sure the Print>Advanced>Transparency Flattener is set to High Resolution.
    Thank you Rob!
    Saving as PDF (even with Trans flattener set to high res) didn't help BUT exporting does work.
    What is the purpose of Save As [PDF] if it doesn't work correctly?

  • Creating a PDF in pages that retains all line breaks and formatting as source

    Currently when we get pages documents, we convert them to PDF and send them off to be converted by a partner. We do this because said partner doesn't accept pages.
    However, lately we've found issues in PDFs created by pages that do not retain styling nor line breaks correctly.
    Example for line breaks:
    The quick brown fox
    jumped over the lazy dog.
    When converted to PDF it shows exactly the same on the PDF, as it did pages. The paragraph breaks are retain in the pages document, and the PDF looks correct.
    But when you copy/paste the text (which is generally how we test how valid the actual text is) you get something like:
    The quick brown
    fox
    jumped over the lazy dog.
    In some cases we even get line breaks on every word.
    We used the Export to PDF feature, the Print to PDF feature, and even generated a postscript and distilled with Acrobat Pro.
    Does anyone know how to solve this? It seems anything generated with QuartzPDFContext has issues.

    Interesting that preview works, but not Acrobat. Thanks!
    We are using export to word as a second option. The formatting (as in exact spacing and such) isn't always 100% retained. PDF afterall is a representation of what the customer wants. We don't always suggest it but in some type of books it helps.

  • Strike through line is not coming up in PDF output

    I have to strike through some data in my report. I tried in design time as well as in run time. In run time I used SRW.SET_FONT_STYLE(SRW.OVERSTRIKE_STYLE) method to strike through the data. It is displaying overstrike line in screen, printer, RTF and HTML outputs, but not in PDF output. Plain data is coming up in PDF format without strikethrough line.
    Thanks

    This works in Reports 6i Patch 10(6.0.8.19).

    You can run
    journalctl -b --no-pager | less
    Edit: If you hit 'h' you get help screen
    SUMMARY OF LESS COMMANDS
    <snip>
    ESC-) RightArrow * Left one half screen width (or N positions).
    ESC-( LeftArrow * Right one half screen width (or N positions).
    <snip>
    It may be possible to configure the way the journal uses the pager so it wraps the lines by default.
    Edit 2: Or maybe it can't be configured.
    man journalctl wrote:The output is paged through less by default, and long lines are "truncated" to screen width. The hidden part can be viewed by using the left-arrow and right-arrow keys. Paging can be disabled, see --no-pager and section Environment below.

  • Cftextarea pdf copy/paste line breaks

    When I copy and paste from a pdf into cftextarea using the Paste as Word or Paste as Plain Text features, it adds line breaks to each line.  Has anyone had experience with this and know how to remove those extra line breaks at the time of pasting the text?
    ColdFusion 8

    Thanks, CtDave for the response. To follow up on your comment I've discovered a few things from this thread:copying from pdf comes out in single column
    This problem primarily happens when exporting/saving a PDF using Apple's native PDF processor, "Quartz," meaning whenever you use iWorks Pages, MS Word for Mac, or save a PDF via the Print dialogue, it will result in a PDF that doesn't comply to the standards CtDave outlined (presumably). One can mitigate this problem by opening the PDF in Preview vs. Adobe Reader or Acrobat—copy and pasting should work if its all in the Apple universe.
    Obviously thats not practical if one intends on producing documents for the masses. Alternatively, creating documents in Indesign would mitigate that problem but that involves expertise outside of traditional word processing.
    Thats all I got for now.
    Thanks,

  • Unexpected line breaks in output of a sql query

    Hi,
    I have a query which looks like:
    set pages 0
    set feed off
    set newp 0
    set lines 350
    select LPAD(SUBSTR(COLUMN1,1,23),23),LPAD(SUBSTR(COLUMN2,1,42),42), SUBSTR(TO_CHAR(START_TIME,'HH24:MI:SS'),1,8),SUBSTR(TO_CHAR(END_TIME,'HH24:MI:SS'),1,8)
    FROM TABLE1;
    When executed using SQL*Plus this query puts a line break after each column and hence I get a record on several rows on the screen.
    But the last two columns are printed on the same line. I suspect the LPAD is causing some problem.
    I have two databases. It works perfectly on one and not on the other.
    Is there a oracle parameter due to which the result is affected?
    T&R,
    BRK

    Try this:
    set pages 0 feed off newp 0 lines 350 trims on
    select LPAD(SUBSTR(COLUMN1,1,23),23)
         , LPAD(SUBSTR(COLUMN2,1,42),42)
         , TO_CHAR(START_TIME,'HH24:MI:SS')
         , TO_CHAR(END_TIME,'HH24:MI:SS')
