Yesterday I download Firefox 4. When I tried to open it I got message that Firefox was "working offline" How can I change this back to on-line when I can't get any farther? All other programs work fine, I just cannot access the internet.

Computer is a desktop running Windows Vista. IE will not open either saying "there is a problem and shutting down". My laptop with Firefox 3.6 works fine.

I have to communicate with someone via emails and text messages. When i text this person the text messages are highlighted blue therefore sent as an imessage to their phone. I have been using firfefox 3.6.8 since release and have had no problems running Windows 7. Today, I am unable to print anything from the internet using firefox. IE 8 as well as all other programs print fine. Any suiggestions appreciated. Thjansk.

I am unable to print using Firefox 3.6.8 starting today. All other programs print fine including IE8. I am using Win7 64bit. I did not change any configurations and voila - today the problem started.

I am unable to open my Photoshop program after installing the entire Creative Suite: Premium Production 6. All other programs work, but with Photoshop it says that the program is "locked or in use by another user". I need this fixed immediately.

All other programs work, but with Photoshop it says that it "Could not open a scratch file because the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. Then I select "OK" and the next message comes up "Could not initialize Photoshop because the file is locked, you do not have the necessary permissions, or another program is using the file. I am not interested in switching to Creative Cloud, so don't even suggest it. I spoke to Mashmi (or something to that effect) on the "Support" Chat and there was absolutely no support. Useless actually.

Have you been able to access the internet previously and now it's suddenly not working, or are you still trying to access the internet for the first time on your iPad? Are you at home trying to connect through your home router? If you are at home, did you put your home routers encryption code as your password? The encryption code is what your iPad is looking for and it is usually found on the router and is typically a 13 digit combination of letters and numbers. Let us know......

This would indicate that you downloaded a Windows version of the program. Check for a Mac version.

I installed Mountain Lion on my iMac. Now I cannot access the Internet. All the other computers and tablets have no problem. I did PRAM and MC reset, modem reset, etc., all the usual ju-ju. I also cannot connect on my local network to any other computer.

Apps will always be tied to the account from which they were purchased.
If they were purchased from your husbands account, then they will have to update using that account.

Could not access it because their network security blocked you by intent, or had some unknown technical difficulty?
Unless you are blocked by intent or ommission (if they have to explicitly allow your machine) I can think of no technical reason why your wired connection should not both get you on their network and on the internet in general. You should not need to be dual homed (though dual homing should work as well).
Please answer the questions above when you can - I think solving the wired LAN issue will be easier if you are not being intentionally blocked.

All of a sudden I noticed that most of the folders on my computer were no longer using the folder icon, but the generic document icon. I had to manually change back the icon being used by opening Get Info for each folder and copying and pasting the generic folder icon from some folders that remained unchanged. Now whenever I create a New Folder (right click -> "New Folder"), the icon that shows up is the generic document icon (white page with top right corner turned down). And I have to manually change it so it shows up as a folder in Finder or on my desktop. I don't know why or how this switch happened. All of the folders now on my computer look ok, but I need to change the default so when I create a New Folder it uses the correct icon.
I have also Forced Relaunch of my Finder and rebooted the system. I downloaded Candybar but am not sure what will fix anything, so I haven't proceeded.

When I open a second Profile while another is running the second cannot access the Internet until I close the first. Why?

I often have occasions to run more than one Profile simultaneously (usually because of different add-ons I've installed on different Profiles). In the past this worked fine. Now, all of a sudden, if I open a second Profile while the first is running the second cannot access the Internet until I close the first. It keeps looking for a website, and failing, until the system "times out". If I close the first Profile, the second is then able to access the Internet.
Note: this is not a problem with opening a second Window in Firefox. As long as they are from the same Profile they will both work fine. Nor does this stop me from using a second Profile to look at website files I have saved to my computer. The only problem is that the second Profile cannot get on the Internet.

I just checked, the setting was for "Automatic proxy configuration URL", in the past it was set on "No Proxy". So I'll try changing that (and/or try other proxy options), and see if that solves the problem.
If it does, then just one (academic) question remains: why did that happen in the first place? I don't care what the answer is, so long as your suggestion solves the problem.
