Yesterday my ipod touch 4g would connect and to wifi and i was able to go on safari and search etc. but last night at 11 pm it would say that it was connected to wifi but wouldn't connect to safari it would say request timed out
it would say request timed out so i restored my ipod erased and reset it hoping it would delete the problem but it was still there it says that it is connected to wifi but will not launch safari and will bring up that message request timed out. itunes app store anything that uses internet/wifi will not work. it is not in airplane mode and wifi is on. i also forgot to mention this but it would also sometimes say that it is not connected to the internet even though i have 3 bars of wifi.
The router itself will always be sending a signal to devices connected to it. The router could not even be connected to your modem and it will still show that you have a connection on your device. Check your router config, reset it, and if all fails, contact your internet service provider.

You aren't attached to a bluetooth headset or other device for some strange reason? Or even an automobile bluetooth, I have a friend that has this issue with his Prius because even when it is not running the bluetooth is still active and connects to his phone.

Given the information supplied, it sounds very similar to what happened to my wife's 4. Locked up...came back on with a blank (bluish) screen...could here emails and text coming through. It would get very hot as well. Our local apple store tried two times to rescue it, ultimately rendering it complete inoperable. I'm sorry to say in our case we had to buy a refurb and trade in the phone for $150, which actually wasn't a bad deal.
There could be other information I'm missing, but I would start with seeing if apple can restore your phone. If they can't, then I'm pretty sure it's dead. -

This came from another thread, but worked for me. Problem is with newest iTunes 4.62. Unistall iTunes, as well as its helper programs (Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Divice Support, and Apple Software Update). Reboot, and reinstall iTunes. It will reinstall all the other ones and you should be able to connect your nano. Good luck.

Ipod touch 4th gen needed a new screen and sleep/wake switch. So, I replace them. I was able to get to settings and do "erase all content and settings". I am not able to totally shut this device off as it keeps restarting after a few seconds. I have used itunes to restore and also recover. Device will actually shut off and stay shut off if I leave it connected to the computer. The moment I unplug (3 seconds) the apple logo appears, it boots, unlock screen appears, I can unlock and operate normally, unplugged or not. Just cant get it to completely shut down unplugged. Any thoughts?

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem. Maybe you installed a bad component or damaged something during the repair/replacement.
Apple will not help since you worked on the iPod yourself. -
My ipod classic shows no music and says that the hard drive is full. When I connect it to my computer (that has itunes on it) it does nothing but windows says it needs to be formatted. It shows up under computer as a USB Drive. It won't sink.

My 4th Gen iPod Touch won't open up the apps I've downloaded. I've tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the app and it seems to only be a temporary fix. The reset and reboot didn't work either. Help would be appreciated.
In more specific terms. The apps that came on the iPod like the weather and maps and whatnot have been working flawlessly. It's just when I download an app and then disconnect from wifi it's almost like I'm on a timer until the app stops working. It acts like it wants to open, the screen flashes black then resets to the home pages. I've tried all of the basic fixes, rebooting, reseting, uninstalling then reinstalling. But like in my...long...question, the reinstalling option only seems to be a temporary fix. This "There is an exclamation point that pops up by my device sign; when I click on it iTunes says the file "cannot be read." " means there is a prob;lem with the song file. Delete and reimport/redownload.
For apps crashing:
Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.

If your Home Button works, you should be able to reset - press the Home and Main button at the same time for 15 sec. Then press the main button for 2sec to have it restart.
Do what I said earlier:
I would advice you to go to the link I sent you above: https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do and ask for an exception.
I don't promise that they'll change it but they may, mainly if the problem of the Home Button is going on since more than half a year (still within the one year warranty) and you just explain that you did not know that you could have changed it at the time and now it's completely dead.
If you really want to recover all your stuff and are living in the US, you should go to the nearest Genius bar and see what they can do. -

Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.
