Yoga 12: maximal resolution mini hdmi

Hi,
I have read that the mini hdmi supports uhd resolution with 30 hz. is this correct? I want to connect it to a 2560 x1440 monitor. Is this possible?
regards, peter

well it turned out the culprit was the INSIGNIA Micro-HDMI to HDMI cable sold by Best Buy. I tried another cable brand and now it's working just fine! Go figure...

  • Yoga 3 pro : problem connecting to HD TV with micro/mini HDMI to HDMI

I purchased a YOGA 3 PRO (512GB) and couldn't be happier with how light and slim this jewel is. The CPU works fast and overall it's a gret UltraBook.
    BUT
I just can't connect my Yoga 3 Pro to my TV. I purchased this Ultra Book at BEST BUY (this model is apparently an "exclusive" of Best Buy), and since I knew i need to connect it to an external monitor to do real work on photoshop, I also purchased an INSIGNIA micro-HDMI to HDMI cable.
As shown below, my 32" HD TV (one of the latest models from LG / ref. 32LB5800) is recognized by Windows 8.1 and the INTEL HD Graphics 5300 Display driver (which i updated to the latest version 10.18.10.3960), but unfortunately the TV says "NO SIGNAL".
    Link to image
I've tried to connect the Insighnia mini-HDMI to HDMI cable in all 3 HDMI inputs on my TV, but same pathetic result. The first input is HDMI ARC, the second one is regular HDMI and the third one is for mobile devices (HDMI MHL), but all 3 returned the same "NO SIGNAL".
So I figured maybe it was the TV. Thus i plugged my Yoga 3 Pro to a Pioneer Plasma TV that was about 3-4 years old, straight to one of HDMI inputs and same thing, no image. However, Windows 8.1 found the TV and even suggests the ideal resolution.
In both cases the TV model was found by Windows 8.1 and shown under the "Screen Resolution" menu. I selected "Extend these displays" to use the TV as a main monitor, but of course this doesn't help the case.
So i started digging this forum and read a lot of coomplaints about the previous version of the YOGA PRO and that the micro-HDMI plug was poorly designed and the cable connector needed to be "trimmed" a little by 1mm or so to allow it plug fully into the port. So i tried that too, and even though i succesfully removed 1mm of rubber around my Insignia cable connector, it didn't help whatsoever since apparently, the new YOGA 3 PRO doesn't have this issue any longer, its design solved indeed that weakness of its predecessor.
So I'm asking: what the hell is the problem then? it's driving me crazy. I've literrally spent the past 6 hours trying to figure it out, but without any success. This forum has ZERO post about a problem of connection of a YOGA 3 PRO to an HDTV. I know it's a very recent model, but still, I can't believe to be the only one experiencing this issue.
If I don't find a solution quickly I'm afraid I'll have no other choice but to return it. It's unbelievable that both the latest iterations of the LENOVO YOGA PRO are having issues (likely different) connecting to an HD TV using the mini/micor HDMI port.
Not sure if this is a hardware or software problem, but LENOVO better get their act together and fix this stat!
UPDATE: i also noticed that when the cable is plugged into the micro-HDMI port, there's no more sound on the ultrabook. I played a video while the cable was plugged in and NO SOUND. I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I would assume connecting the Yoga 3 Pro with the cable into the TV makes it believe that the sound shall be directed towards the TV now, hence the disabled sound on the Ultrabook, even though on the receiving side, the TV still doesn't get any signal from that cable, neither video nor audio.

  • E531 N4I26GE maximal resolution hdmi out

    Hi there,
I have a Lenovo E531 N4I26GE but I can't find anywhere in the specs the information I need.
I want to buy a new monitor and before I need to know which screen resolutions my notebook supports (via HDMI). So, does anyone know: What's the maximal resolution of the E531 N4I26GE? (Of course, 32-bit color depth and at least 50Hz)

This is very interesting.  I have two nearly identically configured Arch systems (home and office), and I just did the last big upgrade on both.  The office system survived just fine, but the home system, after running for a minute or two, core dumps with a graphics-sounding error spew and sends me out of my window manager and back to a command prompt. ("can't open screen at 0,0" or something...no time for a deeper dive--I had to leave for work)  I didn't have time to t-shoot before taking off, but I reproduced the issue three times before leaving for the office.  One of the few differences between the two dual-monitor systems is that the failing one is driving two 2560 x 1440 res screens.  Odd thing is, I can get into my graphical environment for a few minutes before the crash...might try rolling the kernel back.  thanks!

  • Mini-HDMI to VGA does not work with projectors having long cables

    Hi
I use a ThinkPad Yoga with Windows 8.1 and have problems to get a video signal to some projectors using a Mini-HDMI VGA adapter like this http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Active-Female-Adapter/dp/B00879ELGA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=13979...
Usually it works but in some lecture/presentation rooms projectors show "no signal" (I changed all possible graphic settings). There seems to be a problem with cable length because after using a VGA repeater increasing video signal strength projectors show a picture. But the problem is those VGA repeaters are quite expensive and too big (if you are travelling). Some Mini-HDMI VGA adapters have USB ports to connect them to a power source but this does not really help to increase signal strength.I find this issue very annoying because all other (older) laptops with VGA ports or MacBooks with displayport-VGA adapters do not have this problem and produce a video signal that is strong enough to connect to projectors with long cables.
    My questions are:
    a) Is it possible to adjust my ThinkPad hardware settings to improve signal strength?
    b) If not, is there a small Mini-HDMI VGA adapter that produces a signal strong enough to connect projectors with long cables?
    c) If not, is there an affordable and small VGA repeater that does the job?
    Thanks!

    1) that is not possible
    2) Why not get a USB2VGA converter?

  • How do i use Desktop PC (Mini Hdmi or DVI) to imac27 as monitor

How do i use Desktop Pc through imac27 as monitor? first of all i dont want to use bootcamp. cos it dont run high end game, this is a reason i want to use my pc .
my Graphics Card use Dvi or mini Hdmi, so which kind of Adapter to use and want full Resolution.
    Thx.
p.s sry english not my first.^^)

First of all, what do you mean by plug in one set of speakers on your PC? if am not mistaken the card has 3 plugs for a default 5. surround sound. Yes your card can do 5. surround soud, but for that you need to have the 5. surround sound speakers, otherwise well it won't be 5. To get any audio from your TV, or Satelite Box, you need these items and ste
    ps.
Make sure your TV or satelite box has 2 RCA's female plugs labeled (Output) to deli'ver the sound to another device *(from your Satelite or TV to the now dead 5. surround sound)? 2. Your computer must be on at ALL times to transmit (or play) the sound from your TV or satelite box. 3 you need a?Y?RCA to 3.5mm plug jack cable (they are at allMart or Bull'sEye stores for 2$. its a cable that has the 2 male RCA's 's white 's red at one end, the other end will have the classic headphone jack *(you can always use this cable to transmit any audio coming from any device such as MP3, CD, DVD, Laptop, TV, and many other devices to your 5. surround sound in the living room or the computer) 4. Plug the Y RCA in the input port in your Audigy2Zs sound card. Make sure the Mic, and AUX are on mute, and that the Line In volume is at 70% and your TV, Satelite Box audio is at 50%. If its too low volume watch out, you'll be controling about?4 volume settings *(the TV or Satelite Box, the Line-In, Master Volume on the sound card, and Speaker Volume) 5 Sit back and enjoy!

  • New Mini (HDMI) with CRT Big Screen TV (RP)

Is anyone using the new Mini with a CRT TV. I have a Mitsubishi WS-65813 rear projection TV that I'd like to connect to the New Mini using HDMI to DVI. I had one of the older Mini's and the problem was the screen on the TV was not full screen or it was over-scanned, depending on the option I picked.
My question is if I connect the New Mini (HDMI-DVI) to MY TV will it fit native, meaning will it fit the screen without the above mentioned? I'd love to have the ability to watch HULU.
PS. I'd love to get a new LCD TV but the WS-65813 has a superior picture, and it has a 65 inch screen. Only 1080i, 480p, 480i, and Firewire. NO 720p.

    D/FW wrote:
So there's and overscan and a underscan now? Is this different from previous generation Mini's?
They actually removed the overscan function. I'm not sure how many people were using it. Very few I suspect (thus why it was removed).
The underscan function is implemented as a slider. You move it to the right until you can just see the perimeter of the Mac desktop.
Ideally, it should be all the way to the left, in a perfect world. Because you are losing resolution by using the underscan function.
But obviously many TVs do require it. And Apple kindly lets you adjust it to just the level that you need for your particular display device.
I don't know if the the underscan function is limited to only certain screen resolutions. I can't test it right now. But I will when I can. Or perhaps someone else in this discussion will have an opportunity to do so and share their findings.

  • Mini HDMI port

    Hi.
I have Lenovo yoga thinkpad 12 and suddenly mini HDMI port sopped work.
I'm not albe now to duplicate screen to projector. I tried to check bios or control panel, but with no succes.
I looked on official graphic driver, but I can't install new driver because of error - your pc doesn't meet minimal requirements.
I tried to install this driver:

Now I have installed this version: 10.18.10.3960
    Any advices?
    Thx.

There is no such thing as a Mini HDMI port on any Mac. I believe you are refering to the Mini Display port, you can connect that to a Mini Display Port to HDMI adapter. I believe the late 2010 MBA's Mini DIsplay port to HDMI supports both audio & video, however you should use the cable Apple recommends for the best results. That cable would be:

I'm using the mini HDMI to connec to a Samsung HDTV.  The response is always "Mode Not Supported."  Anyone know what to do?  Trying to watch TV shows from iTunes on the TV.  Thanks, Hugh

    Hi Jake,
It's impossible to know without troubleshooting, but it sure sounds like a bad adapter or cable.

  • Mini-HDMI Port: Video OK, sound only works for iTunes

Let me start by saying, I'm pretty new to Mac so please be gentle with your answers...
I just got a new HD Samsung TV and have connected it to my Macbook Pro through the Mini-HDMI port. There are two HDMI inputs on my TV, DVI and ARC. I'm using DVI. The video displays perfectly but I'm having a little trouble with sound.
Once I went to system preferences and switched the audio output method to "SAMSUNG - HDMI" my iTunes music began playing through the TV speakers. I played a .wmv video from my hard drive; sound and audio all worked well. However, when I attempt to play anything through the Internet, Youtube, Hulu, Pandora, no sound... I still get video, and if I switch the Output source back to "Internal Speakers - Built-In" there's no problem. I don't know if it makes any difference, but I'm using Google Chrome as my Internet Browser.
I've double/triple checked the sites to make sure the local audio levels aren't being muted, and that doesn't seem to be the case. Is there a setting somewhere that references only Internet, or more specifically, Google Chrome audio Output levels?
    PLEASE HELP...
    Thanks

The "Front" channel isn't the same thing as the front panel. From the ALSA wiki:
"Front, Surround, Center, LFE (subwoofer) and Side (these are the names of the channels with Intel HD Audio, they may vary with different hardware)."
How many sounds cards do you have?
    [dspider@arch ~]$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: HDA Generic [HDA Generic]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
    [dspider@arch ~]$
What are the other HDMI devices? The video card?
And have you tried googling the problem?

  • HP Slate 500 - HDMI To Projector (mini-HDMI)

From HP Slate 500, I connected to Optoma PK301 projector, using the HDMI output port in the Slate's Dock. I am not seeing any video output in the projector.
The Projector mini-HDMI is working good, I can see proper video output when connected to HDMI output from my laptop. Also, using a USB to VGA converter I am able to see video output from the Slate in the Projector.
I didnot test the HDMI port on the Dock with any TV or other output device. But should I make any setting changes when using the HDMI output? Any pointers on this would be helpful.

  • 2011 Mac Mini HDMI only 2Ch Stereo

Wow is this frustrating. I've had my Mac Mini for about a week, and for the life of me, cannot get surround sound working via HDMI. I've read so many posts about people with this problem but I can't find a definitive answer for a fix. All I want is for the Mac Mini to passthrough the audio so that my Pioneer Receiver can handle all of the Dolby stuff.
    Setup is simple -
    Mac Mini ------> HDMI -------> Pioneer VSX-1020 Receiver --------> Samsung 55" LED
Inside of the Midi Audio options, it shows my receiver as the audio device, and I have all of the options for 2ch, 8ch, etc. I also selected Dolby 5.1. I can only get PCM or Stereo to display on my receiver while ticking through these channel options, while I would expect Dolby to display if it is receiving a Dolby signal. Also, when I do the test tones in the Configure Speakers area, I get the correct test tones from all channels. BUT.........
No matter what I play whether it be iTunes, VLC, etc, I am only getting 2 channel sound and my subwoofer.
Can anybody help?? This seems like such a simple task yet it has me pulling my hair out.

ive had my 1021 for about 2 months and i think its great. Do you like yours?
i have 5.1 using optical cable to one of the optical in ports on the 1021. But you will need an optical-to-miniOptical adapter tip to use in the mini.
then make sure that any app through which you want 5.1 has that specified in its prefs. (like VLC)
VLC always has the option ' out through system', and if the system is optical out, then 5.1 will pass.
