Yoga 13 - Compatible USB to ethernet devices for PXE booting

Hi there,
I've recently been looking for a means to pxe boot the lenovo yoga 13 to enable me to then image it. After reading that pxe booting is possible I went out and bought a StarTech usb to ethernet adaptor (USB21000S2) but have had no luck so far.. In other postsI've read that pxe booting is only supported if using the official lenovo usb to ethernet adaptor. We're using FOG as our imaging solution (if thats of any use)
Please can someone confirm if only the official adaptor is supported.
Regards
Simon

Were you able to find any?  I am also very interested in finding one.  I just ordered one of these the lenovo 0A36322 to see if it will work, but it is only 100mb and not sure if it will work or not.

  • Server 2008 configured for PXE boot with UIU and GhostCast

Right now, I am in the process of switching over from UIU 4, to UIU 5, and the implementation is completely different.  We used GhostCast to push images out before, but the new UIU uses WIM files to pull the drivers off the server.  I had a few
questions about reconfiguring the new server.
Currently, we have a server 2003 machine running ghost cast.  It pulls its images off of a server 2008 machine.  The server 2008 machine can be accessed remotely.  So my first question is, can this be configured to allow remote connections
    with the new setup?
The things I have been reading have said that you need to enable DNS, AD, and DHCP, however if we connect this to a WAN, will it conflict with that?  Or can we configure only one of the ethernet ports to see this?  Sorry kind of new to this.
I guess my main concern is, can we set up a separate domain for GhostCasting, while still being connected to an external domain?

    Hi,
I’m not sure what you really want to do. For PXE boot, I think DHCP is always required just like Microsoft deployment solution WDS and MDT.
The two products are third products, so I don’t know the detail information about how they work. Based on my experience, they should be based on broadcast or multicast.
If so it could be a bad idea if you install it on a server facing the internet.
I think you can also ask in the third party forums that provide the products.
    Thanks for understanding.

    Ethernet driver for PXI-8175

    Hi
Usually you can find the driver in the "image" folder on the controller, but you can it download from this site too (NI 8175 Series):http://www.ni.com/support/vxi/vxi_perph.htm#pxi8171

  • Looing for PXE-Boot option on T430s

    Hello
I am in the process of testing a Thinkpad T430s to possibly do a mass purchase for our company. We use SCCM
to manage imaging, patching / updates etc. I am trying to PXE boot but but I am getting an error which may have to do with
SCCM but as an extra measure I am trying to locate PXE Boot option in the BIOS but can't seem to find anything.
    ANy suggestions would be appreciated

do you see Wake On Lan and/or Ethernet LAN Option ROM on the Network menu under the Config tab in your BIOS.
apologies if you don't. all i've got to check is my X220 in front of me, at the moment.
    regards.

  • Capturing an image to use for PXE boot

I'm using Windows Deployment Services in conjunction with Windows Deployment Terminal (Windows Server 2008) to capture an image from one of our workstations to use as a PXE boot image for future computers. I've created the capture image and PXE booted
to that image, which brings up the "Image Capture" wizard. After capturing the image, I created an install image in WDS using the same .wim file. After trying to PXE boot, the workstation yet again brings up the "Image Capture" wizard.
I then right clicked the image under Boot Images (in WDS) and selected "Create Discover Boot Image." A loading window pops up, but always ends with an error saying something to the extent of the image doesn't have WDSClient Binaries. Does anyone
know what this is or how to fix this? Or even if I'm going about it the right way? If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it.

    Hi,
    Yes, you can.
    Here are the rough steps:
    1.
Install and configure the WDS Server.
    2.
Add the Windows 7 boot image to WDS.
    3.
Create a Capture Boot Image and add it to Boot Image.
    4.
Create a reference Windows 7 computer (install Windows 7, Office and other applications as you like)
    5.
    Sysprep the Windows 7 computer.
    6.
PXE boot the reference Windows 7 computer into capture image on the boot screen and then capture the image.
    7.
Upload the captured image to WDS server.
    8.
PXE boot clients, choose the captured image to install the system.

  • Opinions on low cost USB video capture devices for FMLE?

I have already tried a few such devices.  I would at least like to achieve reasonable SD at 720 X 480.  HD would be a plus, but not necessary.  My camera has HDMI, SDI, and Component and composit out.  I have already tried a couple of capture devices, and the results were as follows.
SIIG USB 2.0 Video Capture Device - JU-AV0012-S1
Pretty clear as to why this was so cheap.  It claims full NTSC support, but that is only on the input.  Output is 320 X 240 only.
DIAMOND USB 2.0 HD Game Console Video Capture Device GC500 USB 2.0 Interface
Again, this unit claims "HD" but that is only on the input.  Output is 640 x 480.  The image quality was terrible with the supplied software, or with Adobe FMLE.  Noisy, and well below full NTSC quality.  Even when fed with the component out of a Sony NX5.  Unacceptable.  Even for the bargain price at Frys.
Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition
Seems I bought a dud.  I went back and forth with Hauppauge support, and never could get this to be detected by FMLE, or the included software.  On doing a search online for the error message I received, I discovered many similar trouble reports on various forums.  I bought this one at a discounted price.  Perhaps this is the reason why.
The notebook I have is a Windows unit, with no expresscard slot, or 1394 input (unfortunately).  I did look briefly at the Blackmagic Intesity Shuttle, but it needs USB 3.0.
Curious to hear of any sucess with USB capture and FMLE, and with a device under (hopefully well under?)$200.

I've been streaming with the ION Video2PC capture device...it works flawlessly with no problem. The machine I've been testing it on can only pump out 480p or 540p at the most. But, I'm sure if I used it on a faster machine I would get way better results. You can find them used under $30 bucks online and unlike most cheap capture/input devices, you can access the video and audio in FMLE. Just thought, I'd share they info.

  • COMPATIBLE USB WiFi ADAPTER/DONGLES FOR HP 470 MOBILE PRINTERS???

I've misplaced the HP USB WIFI dongle/adapter (HP Q6274A)  to my H470 mobile printer and was wondering if another (Non HP) usb wifi adapter/dongle will work...until I find my original HP Q6274A dongle?  Incidentally, I happened to notice Non-HP WiFi USB adapter/dongles are every where, they are very inexpensive and also offer the latest WiFi technology enhancements, ie: b/g/n & 300 Mbp/s, etc.  I'm hopeful HP customer support will offer a few suggestions regarding other compatible H470 WiFi dongles... however, I doubt they'll suggest anything other than their hard to find/obsolete HP Q6274A ... any thoughts would be greatly appreciated =)

    Hi xxwildbilxx,
Are you still experiencing issues?  The adaptors may or may not work.  If you have a spare, it is certainly worth a try, however I cannot guarantee compatibility. The specific adaptor for this model is readily available through online ordering systems.  You can also contact HP technical support to compare best pricing options for these adaptors.  Global contact information can be accessed Here.
    Hope this helps!

  • Compatible USB 802.11x devices?

Hi, my mac mini is tucked near a TV in a corner behind a wall, and has very poor reception. Ideally, I'd like an antenna on a cable maybe >1 meter long in order to get to an area with much stronger signal. Since this can't be done, I'm looking for a USB wireless card, but I'm not sure if one that is designed for windows will work. I'd rather not fork out ~£30 only to find the NIC is Windows only.
Are there USB wireless cards that'll work on the mac or are we restricted to airport only?
    Many thanks in advance!
Mac mini, intel   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

In my opinion a better option would be an external ethernet wireless bridge such as the Linksys WET54G.
    This has
    a) an external aerial which should improve reception
    b) is connected to the Mac mini by ethernet cable and therefore could be placed in a better location for better reception, rather than stuck behind the mini.
It should be noted most USB adapters:
    a) do not work with OS X
    b) those that do rely on drivers which have been known to "break" following OS updates or similar.
    c) people have problems getting them working.

  • Can anyone recommend a Windows 7 compatible USB audio/video interface for Adobe Media Live Encoder??

Any suggestions?  Also, are they hardware appliances that replace Adobe Media Live Encoder?

I use this one with Windows 7:http://www.chronos.com.tw/Product/E/2/USB%20Movie%20Editor/USB%20Movie%20Editor.htm
It worked bad with out of box Windows 7.
But after all updates it works very well and stable.
A nice thing is that it has little USB extender cable included. So it is less harmful for laptop usb port.

  • 10.4.10 Update kills most USB audio input devices for iChatAV

I have a Logitech Quickcam 5000 Pro that has a built in Mic. The UVC compliant camera still works, but under 10.4.9 the mic worked also; however, it no no longer shows up as an audio input device.
Intel Mac Mini 2GB RAM / MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Add another to the pile, slightly different: No audio support for my FIREWIRE based audio interface.
    Running 10.4.10, software update installed.
OSX recognizes it, at any sample rate I want to use it at.
Sound setup, everything else (my whole entire studio) recognizes it.
iChat AV, when I go to the video tab to select "microphone" will give me default of none and then my device name (mLAN audio network). As soon as I select my device, the microphone option disappears completely. The only way to get the selection option back is to restart iChat, upon which the problem repeats itself.

  • Using USB 6341 device for frequency generation but level is droped when conect

i am using USB-6341 Daq Device for frequency generation. The desired frequency is generated correctly but when i connect to other device the voltage level i means the Peak to Peak voltage of the frequency dropped to 0.6, 1 Volt and also the frequency fluctuated. As I disconnect it from the load or the device the frequency becomes constant and peak to peak voltage becomes 5.
Please some help me to resolve my problem.
    Thanks

    Hi Nasib,
I just wanted to clarify a few more things. Can you answer the following questions?
What frequency are you trying to generate?
When there is no load connected do you see the desired frequency?
When the load is connected, does the frequency always change to the same value or does it fluctuate within a certain range? If it fluctuates, what is the range?
Also, what microcontroller are you using?
    Can you provide any images?

  • Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Installing Windows OS via PXE SCCM

    Hello everyone,
I have 2 Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro here in our company environment, because our CEO really like using touchpads with pens =).
Since the Yoga 2 does not have a LAN connector i have been unable to install windows via our SCCM Server.
I contacted telephone support and basically got told, this is a consumer device and pxe is not prossible. Which seems weird since there are pxe drivers and a management driver pack for the yoga 2 available.
    What I tried this far.
Use the One Dock -> Doesnt recognize lancard
Use USB Networdcard Startech USB21000S2 (7500 chipset) -> Not recognised by BIOS
Use pptical boot media -> boots to pxe environment but cant connect to the server and aborts
    SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4
OS to install: Windows 7 Ent
All standard and pxe drivers are incorporated into the install image.
Does anybody know, if or how it is possible to get this Notebook integrated in my SCCM environment?
    Thanks in advance

  • Is there a good USB audio/video grabber for a Macbook?

I need to be able to take screenshots from my Xbox 360. My PC friends use a USB audio/video grabber that the hook up to their TVs, however, there aren't that many for Mac. I was hopping someone here knows of a good product that is compatible with Macs. I have an early 2009 unibody Macbook. Thanks for your help.

    I'm confused.
Doesn't your mini already have a wireless card? It's part of the standard config, so I don't understand why you're not using that.
I've yet to find a workable USB wireless ethernet device. I'm sure they exist but I've yet to encounter one.

what is the brand and model of your USB-to-Ethernet adapter? Does the manufacturer claim that it is compatible with your installed version of OS X?
