Yoga 2 Pro display/screen wobble in laptop or stand mode

Been looking around but can't find anyone mentioning the screen/display wobble when using the yoga 2 pro in laptop or stand mode.  That baffles me.  I tried normal touching on the screen on the Yoga 2 Pro at Best Buy in laptop and stand modes and the display bounces back and forth horribly.  I can't believe this wouldn't be a deal breaker for many people unless most people just aren't using the touch screen (in those modes) that much.  And if they aren't, what's the point of having the touch screen (other than tablet mode).  Windows 8 is meant to be used with a touch screen in ANY mode.
So, can anyone comment on their experiences with a wobbling/bouncing screen/display?

Hmmm.  Wonder if you've actually used the Yoga 2 Pro.  Or maybe you're trying a little too hard to defend your expensive purchase.  Either way, calm down, buddy.  This system seems nice, just not for me with that wobble when *BARELY* touching the screen.  The Surface Pro 2 solves the issue with a backstand.  The Samsung Ativ series doesn't seem to have this issue.  And, yes, both of those are comparable systems.
I actually searched a little longer and DID find others complaining about it on the Yoga 2 Pro.  It may not be a dealbreaker for you, but it is for some.  Its irrelevant if it "comes with the territory...for this form factor" if it distracts *enough* from its usefulness (and thats putting it nicely).

  • Yoga Pro 2 screen shuts off after one minute of inactivity

I have configured the Power options so that the screen shouldn't dim on either battery or power cord and the laptop shouldn't sleep. I don't have a screen saver on. I even removed the "Energy Manager" bundled app hoping that might work. Hugely annoying. Any advice appreciated!

This may be a Windows 8 issue. I finally fixed this problem by identifying the screen saver as the issue (and I wasn't using a screen saver).  Type "lock the computer" into the search box after clicking the search charm, which brings up the screen saver dialog box. Mine was set to 1 minute, though I'd never set it myself. If you can't change it, choose a screen saver and you should be able to do so (and can then switch back to no screen saver).
BUT, here's the problem. Other things you install (or settings within things you install) can apparently change and override whatever you type in for the delay time. Try applying your new time and exiting from the dialog box, then open it back up again. I was finding that it kept going back to 1 minute. To reset things so that you can get control again, type "user accounts" into the search box and when the dialog box comes up, choose "Reset Security Policies". Then you can go back to the screen saver dialog and successfully change the delay time.

  • Yoga 3 pro. Keyboard won't lock in stand mode. Win10

I noticed recently that keyboard and trackpad will not disable when in stand mode anymore. In tablet mode keyboard is disabled but not the trackpad. This was working before and the issue might be related to win 10, which I updated to. Not sureIs there a setting anywhere to enable keyboard lock? I can't find it anywhere Please help

I installed Lenovo Settings from the Windows App Store, which instructed me to download and install the system interface fundation.  https://download.lenovo.com/enm/sift/core/SystemInterfaceFoundation.exe Not sure if that is related, but that resolved my keyboard issue.

  • MacBook Pro display usable as a reference monitor for a camera shoot?

I am shooting a video project and wish to try and use my 17" Mac Pro display screen as a reference monitor on a live mini-DV camera shoot for focus and color versus lugging around a heavier CRT and battery back. Will the MacPro display be sufficient to significantly judge color, exposure, and focus? I know it's not ideal, but with improvements in LCD displays over the last few years I would like to hear from other users who may have tried using their display screens in this way and see what their results were.
    Many thanks,
    John

While the answer in itself is probably no, you could however spend some time to get yourself a known comparitive situation. With some careful calibration and comparison to a final result you should be able to get it to a point where, while not perfect, you know what you're going to get.
By the way, the matte display will produce far more consistent colour than the glossy display.
Utlimately though for the best results the suggested CRT solution is the one to go for even though it's somewhat a pain.

  • Had to avoid keyboard backlighting from burning into display screen?

I recently had to replace my Mac Pro display screen because the backlighting from th keyboard burned a white streak across the middle of of the screen. I'm thankfull I purchased the additonal warranty and was able to replace it for free, but next year I will be out of luck. Just wondering if it is preventable for the future.

    Tracie,
What made you think the keyboard backlighting caused that? I don't see how it possibly could.

  • Mac Display Flashes When Coming out of Sleep Mode

When my Macbook pro display is closed & Mac is in sleep mode and I open the display it will flash once (Not Flicker) before the log on screen comes on. Does anyone know why this is happening? My mac is 1 year old and this issue started about 2 months ago. It does not happen all the time but I would say about 80% of the time. My Mac is used every single day 8 to 10 hours each time. Thank you

  • Yoga Pro 2 - Display not recognized in windows (Driver or Hardware issue?)

Out of warranty by a month!
Yoga Pro 2 - 256gb, installed new wireless card a month ago. Windows 8.1
The touchscreen still works while the screen is black.
System restarted after sleep mode I think.
The Lenovo logo is displayed, seems to load windows, but when windows loads (I don't see it load so this is an assumption) the screen blanks and the black light is on.
I can connect an external monintor which will connect after a return from sleep mode(odd). Which then turns the backlight off.
When on the external monitor the internal display is not even recognized by windows.
When I boot in safe mode, the internal screen works fine with of course limited capability.
I have reloaded display drivers from the support site.
Right now my internal monitor is not recognized by windows and is dark, and I can use an external monitor.
Anyone have any clues as to what my be going on? Hardware, driver etc???
    What information can I provide?

This is a pretty weird issue with conflicting observations.
    1) Screen works in Safe Mode but not in regular boot. (So, not hardware issue)
    2) Display works on external monitor in regular mode. (So, not drivers issue)
Did you install the wireless card yourself? Did you unplug the display cable while installing the card?
Could you re-open and check that all connections are good?
Is the Wi-Fi card working well?
I would also recommend a complete reset of the laptop to eliminate the possibility that this is a corrupt driver. You can use the NOVO button to reset your laptop. Make sure to make a backup on external drive for your personal files.

  • My macbook pro's screen display has suddenly gone into a strange colour setting where everything appears in a kind of infrared colour palette an I can;t seem to change it back.  It's the same for all icon and websites, does anyone know how to restore?

My macbook pro's screen display has suddenly gone into a strange colour setting where everything appears in a kind of infrared colour palette an I can;t seem to change it back.  It's the same for all icon and websites, does anyone know how to restore?

Wow!  I think I had this same issue just last night.
I was cleaning my macbook pro retina on the outside.  Then I opened it up and was wiping dust off the monitor and I can't pinpoint exactly when, but the colors changed suddenly.  It looked super strange, it was like green halo's and it looked worse when looking at it at an angle.  Of course I took no pictures!!!  I was freaking out that my 2 grand laptop was busted and I somehow removed a protective film or something.
But I digress...  The image looked very green and spacey, it was almost a neat effect.  After about 5 minutes it started to look a little more digital though.  There were straight lines of this halo effect on the edges and top.  After about 10 minutes it turned into a predominate issue with the blacks on screen.  I could open a web browser and it was unnoticable on a white background.  After about 15 minutes, you could only barely see the green cloud effect if you looked at the monitor from an extreme angle.  After about 20 minutes, it was completely back to normal, I almost feel paranoid like I see a halo or something strange.  But I believe that might be all in my head now.
So yerp, lemme know what you guys figure out.

  • Yoga 2 Pro Touch screen not working

I've had no problems with my yoga 2 pro for over a month, but last night I decided to do windows updates.  This is the model with the i7, and 8gb of ram.  I let it update and then restarted it.  After it started up, I tried to swipe the cover screen up, but nothing was happening.  I then decided to use the mouse, and soon realized that the touch screen was unresponsive.  I've tried to restore the computer to before the updates, but it hasn't fixed the problem.  I can still switch to tablet and stand mode, etc. and the screen will rotate, but I can not get the touch screen to respond to anything.  I tried to install some drivers, but none of them are for the touch screen as far as I know, and nothing else seems to work.  Does anyone know a fix, or maybe know of a driver I need to install?

    Hey mgollery,
Sorry that you are having this issue. Do you know what might have caused this at least? Did you plug in any USB devices recently or does the touchscreen disable after you plug it in? Did you install any programs recently? Do you have the most updated drivers? Do you leave it on long enough for it to go into sleep mode?
Btw, you should check out this other thread here:
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Windows-based-Tablets-and/Yoga-touchscreen-not-working/td-p/902131/...
Some people got it working by uninstalling recently installed software, updating video card drivers, and others have just had to get it replaced.
If none of the uninstalls, updates, drivers stuff works, I would do the following (like the others have said in this list), but please be careful (stuff might break):
    - Do a system restore (to a point where it worked before)
    - If that doesn't work, do a windows refresh
    - If that doesn't work, I'd call Lenovo and see what tech support can do to help. They will try to update stuff for you and if that doesn't work, they will literally try to reset your computer basically to factory settings (Lenovo actually has their own program that tries to reset stuff)
    - If that doesn't work, and you can't live without a touchscreen, I'd call up Lenovo or if you are still on the phone with them,  get them to replace it. They handle all the shipping and while it sucks to not have it for a couple of weeks, you at least get the computer you paid for.
Ultimately, what happened to me was that none of the little tricks worked. System restore didn't work. Windows refresh didn't work. Then I called them and they basically told me to do the same things. This time though, during the refresh, some bug happened where it screwed up the refresh so I couldn't even start Windows anymore and it bricked my computer. Then they even had me go through the Lenovo refresh thingy which didn't work. At the end, I ended up shipping it back to them to fix and I think they basically just gave me a new Yoga 2 Pro. The whole process sucked, but at least now my touchscreen works and I never plug my fitbit into the USB port anymore.
    Hope that helps.

That will show you how to format a USB stick for use on both PC and Mac.
If the problem continues take it to an Apple store and have them check it out.

    From:

"exFAT (Extended File Allocation Table) is a Microsoft file system optimized for flash drives.[3] It is proprietary and patented."
That first site explains it at length.

You can try using Screen Sharing in the Sharing preferences. Or try a third-party utility such as ScreenRecycler.

  • Small scratch on my Macbook Pro with Retina Display Screen

I was cleaning the retina display screen of my MacBook Pro when I discovered that there is a very small scratch on the screen. I have had my MacBook Pro with Retina Display for about four months and honestly its my most cared for item. I look after it with every fibre of my being, I am actually a little OCD when it comes to looking after it. I don't even leave the house until I know its in a safe place and nobody else is allowed near it. I am really annoyed that it's scratched and I really have no idea how it happened. I know its only a tiny scratch but its starting to bug me and I am now aware of its presence every time I start up my Mac. Is there anything I can do about this? Is there any way to fix it? Thanks.

For a precise quote, you will have to take the MBP to an Apple store genius bar.  If you go to the iFixit.com and Powerbookmedic.com, they will have parts prices which should give you a rough estimate of the costs.
    Ciao.

  • How can I replace my retina display screen for MB Pro 15 that broke in accident?

A 50 inch old 80 pound plasma fell on top of my 3 month old macbook pro 15 retina display screen and broke it to pieces. The computer is working with an external monitor. I am in South America working and new this fixed ASAP, any ideas?

Only Apple has Retina replacement displays at this time as it's so new, still it's going to take time.
You'll have to get the data off it before it fails and use another machine in the meanwhile.
