Yoga 2 Pro - Motion Control

If this has been answered, or solution(s) offered, I'll be darned if I can find them, even an extensive search in the Forum and Community Database...
New Yoga 2 Pro for Christmas...so far, very nice machine. However, am a litlle (!) frustrated with the Lenovo Motion Control...
I can get the software to open, access settings, etc. but the tutorial doesn't tell me squat. Activating the software doesn't open my webcam...I tried with a couple of other programs, and when opening, they DO boot the webcam on. I can't find any step-by step instructions on the 'net...heck, the Dragon Assistant software tutorial is great and got that running fine.
It appears that this is a common issue, judging by the number of posts on Lenovo Community. I tried uninstalling the original software, then reloading. I tried downloading v2.0 (it came preloaded with v2.5.1.0225 to ses if that would work, as suggested in a posted fix.
So...no Lenovo support for Motion Control? No workarounds or fixes? Is this a glitch with Win 8.1 that has yet to be resolved? Inquiring minds would sure appreciate knowing! Thanks for any assistance in advance!

I dont have my Y3P at the moment but I remember disabling it from Task Manager > Startup Programs
Find Motion Control in there and Disable it, then restart the system.
You should probably also disable Harmony, since that is the app which is responsible for these transitions and gets annoying for me.

  • Yoga 2 Pro - Youtube Controls in Tablet mode

    Hello,
So ive had my Yoga 2 pro for a couple weeks now. I am running into an issue where when im watching a youtube video I cant use the touch screen to contol youtube. The play pause button, full screen and the seek feature of youtube cannot be used in tablet mode or any mode where the keyboard is disabled. The only way to watch youtube it seems is to switch back to laptop mode.
Please let me know if there is a fix or anything of the sort
    Thanks

Thank You Indest! I can't help you as I am a linux user.
I've installed Gnome Ubuntu 14.04 on my Y2P and I'm facing the same issue as windows users.
Keyboard is disabled in tablet mode for me too. That's why I've been thinking that is because of an hardware configuration rather than software.
Anyway, if there is any window user willing to help, that would be great.
Much better if Lenovo FINALLY ANSWERS this question!!! Boy, that's not a customer oriented approach. Rewrite your corporate brochures and take out that you care about customers. Lol

  • Yoga 2 Pro Mode Control

    Hi all,
the lenovo mode control (ymc.exe) doesn´t work, because the keyboard is still on in stand mode. In tablet mode it turns off. But why doesn´t it works for stand mode??

I realize that too today in the office. I changed to tablet then it change to tent then change back to tablet after 2 seconds. I am thinking there could be a "lag" for the laptop to detect the modes.
Just curious, were you in Laptop mode all the while the unintended change happen?

I have a Y2P (i5) ... Feel free to ping me if you want me to test some applications with your Y2P if you have the same model. I don't mind keep doing recovery on it if needed .... =)

  • Motion control yoga 2 11

Somebody knows if the Yoga2 11 has voice control and motion control?

    SOLVED
This is a Windows 8.1 issue for many different brands. After two days of searching this worked for me. Yoga 2 11. Joined the forum to offer this.
    From a Tom'sHardware thread
Found the solution here, reprinted and slightly edited for convenience:
    1. To manually re-enable two finger tap, hit windows key + r, enter "regedit" then hit enter, and on the left pane browse to the following location:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTP\TouchPadPS2 AND (see ALSO below)
    2. In the right pane double click on 2FingerTapAction and change the value to a "2" for right click, or a "4" for middle click (I use 2). Also double click on 2FingerTapPluginID and clear any value it may have.
    3. Next in the right pane, find the MultiFingerTapFlags key and change it from a 2 to a 3
    4. As a bonus, if you want to enable three finger tap for middle click, double click on 3FingerTapAction and change the value to a "4", also clear any value for 3FingerTapPluginID and set 3FingerTapPluginActionID to "0".
    ASLO:
I have a Lenovo U510 and also had to do the changes in
    "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTP\TouchPadPS2"
    AND
    "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTP\TouchPadSMB2c"
At last I´ve my missing two-finger-tap

  • Motion Control Yoga 13

So is everyone just ignoring trying motion control? I find no setup info instructions on how to use or any success trying to wave photos to next photo. Anyone have a clue or success with this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It is limited to programs that are "supported", I've found that it works using windows media player, powerpoint, windows video player, etc.  I use MediaMonkey for all my music so the motion software doesn't get recognized..  Wish it was more dynamic where you can set it up for any app.  I'm willing to bet there's a 3rd party app out there that does a better job and supports any apps along with customizing your own motion.
But as for motion, just run it.  Once you open powerpoint, your webcam should turn on.

  • Yoga 2 Pro stuck volume, missing cursor, onscreen keyboard unusable

I'm having several issues with a Yoga 2 Pro laptop running Windows 8.1 that's about a year old.
    1) Volume is stuck at 0. I can raise the volume, but it automatically lowers back down to zero, as if the volume-down key is stuck. The volume indicator is always onscreen.
    2) Cursor is missing, however I can still right click/left click. Also, the cursor will reappear when I uninstall the Synaptic touchpad drivers.
    3) The onscreen touch keyboard is unusable. I can click on the icon and it pops up, but it immediatly goes back down.
    4) Side screen charms won't stay on screen (example: pressing the F10 key or project screen the side menu pops in but immediately pops out, similar to the keyboard). Also if I swipe in from the right and try to use anything (devices, settings, etc.) it does not respond
    5) Pressing the start key doesn't bring it to the start screen, but holding it down for a few seconds does.
The above problems still exist in safe mode.I'm thinking it's a hardware issue or a bad connection of some kind. I've tried:
    1) Removing/reinstalling various drivers (touchpad, audio, graphics)
    2) Disabling services (YMC comes up often when looking at trackpad problems, but this hasn't worked for me)
    3) Uninstalled/reinstalled programs (Energy Management, Transitions, etc.)
    4) Did a complete factory reset at one point, had no effect.
I've had the problem a couple times before, and one thing that DID work was to hold down the power button for ten seconds while the computer was off, then let it reboot. Unfortunately that solution is no longer working. The threads I've linked below have been the closest I've found to a problem like this, but neither of their solutions worked for me.

Any help would be much appreciated! Definitely affecting my usability of this otherwise wonderful machine.

Update in case anyone else comes across a similar problem: I ended up sending my laptop into warranty, and it came back a week later working completely. No idea what the problem, cause, or fix was, although they didn't replace any major parts (battery, cable, cpu, fan, hard drive, keyboard, touch pad, display, memory, motherboard...going off the list they sent back, none of those were replaced), so I'm not sure what to think. Not even a factory reset. I'd love to know what the issue was, in case it comes up again but am happy that my laptop is once again functioning in either case!

  • Yoga 2 Pro no longer detects orientation/transitions and lid closing for sleeping

My Yoga 2 Pro used to detect orientation and transition with no problem and the Transition app would pop-up the notification for Tent mode or Tablet mode, etc.
Everything worked great... then, within last couple weeks, it stopped detecting closure of the lid to trigger sleep mode (though the screen would go black) and now I've also found that it has stopped detecting the different modes and will only operate in Laptop mode...  no Tent mode, no Tablet mode, etc.
Now, to put it into sleep mode, I have to select it from the Start menu and then close the lid (it does detect reopening the lid and wakes up as usual).
Obviously not having the ability to use those other 3 modes kinda defeats the purpose and value of having a Yoga 2 Pro!
Suggestions welcome for research to aid in restoring this functionality...

    Switch off your laptop.
    Disconnect power supply

  • Yoga 3 Pro - Certain Keys Missing from Keyboard. How to virtually use them?

    Hi.
I have bought this for about a week and was not happy about the combination of "Home" and "End" keys since I use them a lot. In using VMWare I noticed there is no "Insert" key on the keyboard at all, thus I cannot use the Ctrl+Alt+Insert functionality in my virtual machines. Today, a random combination of keys was pressed on the keyboard and the "Scroll Lock" was enabled, and guess what: There is no scroll lock in the Yoga 3 Pro! Now I have no idea how to disable this again and non of the forums or manuals have addressed this.
(Lenovo design team has made is specifically hard for users. Not only the keyboard layout and certain keys are removed, but even I cannot find a spare chargin cable for my officec. They have changed everything - even Yoga 2 Pro charging cable is not compatible - and yet not available in the market. Not a very smart strategy )

    Welcome to the forum!
I'm sorry to hear about your problem. I had to really take a look at my own Y3P to realize there is no Insert key, I guess I got too used to the touchscreen
To get rid of the Scroll Lock you can press the combination Fn+C.
Alternatively you can also go to the Control Panel, then "Easy of Access Center" and start the On-Screen Keyboard, you can disable the Scroll lock from there too.

  • Yoga 3 Pro Brigtness Keeps Resetting

I've been having this problem with my Yoga 3 Pro whereby my screen brightness will reset to a very low value every few minutes, no matter how often I try to change it. Whether or not i change it in the charms menu, in the Power Options menu on the control panel or otherwise, it always resets to an annoyingly low brightness level within minutes and I have no idea why. I've searched online and none of the solutuions I found worked.

    hi
Can you check and make sure that this is disabled.

I got my YOGA 2 PRO, and after 15 days (I did not copied my files to it yet!) I already have the screen brightness diming without any control. It seems like it goes brigther and darker alone while I am reading a page at firefox or explorer. I saw the recommendation on this forum

I also tryed CHECK WINDOWS UPDATE through CONTROL PANEL, however it stays for around 15 minutes searching, searching and no response (Internet connection is for sure working properly).
My brand new YOGA 2 PRO is not working properly after 15 days! (screen diming, CHNAGE PC SETTINGS does not work, NO WINDOWS UPDATE RESPONSE).
    Please help!

    Guilherme1010,
Welcome to the forum.  I see that you left this comment on this KB article on autobrightness and so I moved it out here so that others in the community would be more likely to see it and chime in with suggestions.
If you have not installed your own applications or data yet, and you are having issues with the system not responding to check for updates even if there is internet connection, and not opening settings, then you can try to debug this, or you might consider doing a system reset to restore to factory condition.
Sometimes, the preloaded image gets corrupted and can just be reset, and then will work fine.
Here are some instructions on how to reset.  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc
I realize this may be a bold step, and it will wipe out all data and settings on the system so make sure you are ready to do that.
    Best regards,

  • Yoga 2 Pro (Win 8.1) wifi adapter go missing once a while

Dear Yoga 2 Pro fans,I'm sharing my fix here.  I'm a device driver/firmware s/w developer so I know a few things My Y2P (bought in April 2014) works fine except that the Wifi adapter need to be disable/enable (via Ctrl Panel->Networks) to make it find my wifi router after power up, or after wake up from sleep.  I've been living with this product defect but tolerable, and the wifi speed and stability is normal.  I only use Y2P in laptop mode.I was using :* Intel(R) Wireless-N 7260, driver 11/17/2014 v17.13.2.2 (was update via 'Update Driver...' button in the Driver Properties),      -- "Allow..device to save power"=checked,      -- Advanced tab's U-APSD Support = Enabled* Intel Smart Connect (ISCT) is installed but turned off* Intel PROSet/Wireless Tools v17.14.0* BIOS was 76CN38WW Until 2 weeks ago, I updated the N7260 wifi adapter driver to12/16/2014 v17.13.12.1 (was update via 'Update Driver...' button in the Driver Properties),  and hell broke loss... The wifi adapter will go missing randomly, i.e. midway when transfering files in the LAN, or after power up from shutdown, or after return from sleep. Subsequent shutdown and power on will not recover the missing N7260 wifi adaptor !!  No overheating issue as I was using battery at 60% full. And more strange, I leave Y2P over night, or a couple of hours, and the N7260 wifi adaptor appear (be detected by Win8.1) the next morning....Bluetooth is always working and no problem. After spending one day, reading both Lenovo and Intel N7260 forums, I think I solved it but it wasn't easyas there are many combinations. Here's my final config* BIOS is 76CN43WW 5/5/2015, with Lenovo Fast Startup = Disable* Intel Smart Connect (ISCT) - uninstalled with Control Panel > Programs* Intel PROSet/Wireless Tools v17.14.0 - uninstalled with Control Panel > Programs* While N7260 wifi adaptor is in 'missing' state, via Dev Mgr > View > Show hidden devices -> Uninstall drivers & remove files, and reboot Y2P* Download from Lenovo Support Y2P and install 13kd018f.exe (while N7260 wifi adaptore is in 'missing' state), shutdown and wait for 1-2 hours.* Power up, and hopefully N7260 re-appears, check via Devi Mgr -> Intel(R) Wireless-N 7260, driver 5/26/2014, 17.0.3.3      -- "Allow..device to save power"= Unchecked,      -- Advanced tab's U-APSD Support = Disable      -- Power provide set Max Performance on Battery and Plugged-In I've used this for a day and is stable, will monitor more, and report back !

Ok, the above doesn't work, but at leas the Wifi adapter now consistently disappear the 2nd time when Y2P boots up after a shutdown or from sleep. I've brought it to Lenovo Service Center (Shenzhen), and found it's h/w issue, both the Wifi card has to be replaced as well as the 'sound card' that has connectors to hold the wifi card to the motherboard  Checking fee: CNY 50Wifi card: CNY 380Sound card: CNY 280Cleaning fee: CNY 50 Gee.. my Y2P is just 2 months past the 1 year warranty

  • Touch no longer works after replacing screen for Yoga 2 Pro

Screen was cracked so I replaced the screen.  Now touch doesn't work.
There is no "Pen and Touch" and "Tablet PC Settings" in Control Panel.  In PC info it says, "No pen or touch input is available for this display."
Touch DOES work on LENOX as I ran it from a usb drive, so it is not a hardware problem.
    I have reinstalled Windows.
I have another Yoga 2 Pro and comparing Device Manager in both I see no differences.
How can I get the touch to work again?

    ColonelONeill wrote:
Does uninstalling and reinstalling the touch screen device under Device Manager get it to show up?
Well, I did update the display adapter and the HID-compliant touch screen driver, and a host of other drivers.  Also did a reinstal of windows from system restore, but I guess as far as specifically uninstalling and reinstalling the touch screen device, I guess not.
I sent the laptop to the company who I bought the screen from, (Laptop Repair 365) because they said that they would fix it for free.  I sent it yesterday and they already got it today and said they fixed it.
I asked what was wrong and they said a falty screen and they replaced it under warrenty for free.  Great company!
I still don't understand.  The touch worked when running linux so how could it be a falty screen?

  • Xorg flashing at start on Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro

    Dear All,
I am writing to describe a strange behaviour of X on my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, which I would like preferably to remove, but at the very least to understand.
I installed plymouth. However, I witness a strange behaviour when plymouth closes and gdm (X) starts. The screen flashes black three times. On the third gdm starts. It looks either like Xorg is crashing and restarting or it is switching vt or something like that, but I don't understand why
I have a configuration file for Xorg that forces the resolution to be 1920x1080 instead of the full resolution of the Yoga 2 Pro (3200x1800). Strangely, Plymoth seems not to use this resolution, but the full one. When gdm starts, however, it has the correct 1920x1080 resolution. I would really like to understand what is happening to Xorg.
I paste the output of journalctl -b here, but I don't see any trace of the three flashes in the file. Can someone please help me understand?
    Thank you!
    Valerio

So, why is this switch happening at all? 3200x1800 (with 60Hz) is native resolution. So essentially this is switching from native resolution to a native resolution itself, causing the flash! But why? I want to keep the native resolution, why is  X generating a Modeline with the same  characteristics but a different name, and switching to it?
Is this a hint, towards the end?

  • Photoshop GPU and Yoga 2 Pro Display Driver

When I first bought my Yoga 2 Pro, Photoshop’s latest versions (CC and CS6) ran perfectly with their Graphics Processor (aka GPU aka Intel HD Graphics 4400) enabled. However, after an automated update that I didn’t notice, I receive a “display driver stopped working and recovered” message when I open Photoshop. Then I receive an “insufficient memory” message inside Photoshop and Photoshop’s Graphics Processor is disabled. Inside Control Panel-Devices, the Display Driver roll back option is disabled. So I download the latest driver from Lenovo (Intel Video Driver for Windows 8.1 64-bit - Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, version 10.18.10.3304, ivga136w8164.exe), install it, and Photoshop works with no error messages and its Graphics Processor automatically enabled. A day later, when I open Photoshop I get the same errors. So I reinstall the 3304 driver, Photoshop works fine, and a day or two later the same cycle repeats.
    Anyone have a solution, please?

    hi
    The guide I Posted Above,
This step stops the updates for the drivers only.
if this is what you did then that's I think is the best way if the current update of the driver is causing you issues.
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
    Open the Control Panel
    Select System and Maintenance
    Select System
Now click Advanced system settings in the left-hand panel (if the UAC is turned on, click Continue to proceed)
    Next, click the Hardware tab
Click the Windows Update Driver Settings button
Now you need to select the driver update option you want to use.
The default option will automatically check for drivers and update them. To disable automatic driver updates in Vista, select either the second or third option and click OK.
