Yosemite download stuck on 7mins

Downloading yosemite to my imac, and for the last 2hours it's been stuck on 7mins remaining. To add confusion I have hit cmnd+L to view the file transfers only for the spinning wheel to appear. Which has been there for the last 20mins now. Starting to wish I'd not bothered
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Shutdown the computer using the power button and then restart. See if the download continues. If not, go to the App Store Purchases tab and see if there is a Resume button. If so, click it.
If you can't restart the download, go to the Applications folder and click on the downloaded file to see if you can restart it. If not, delete the installer. Start the download again. It is over 5 GBs of data to download and depending on your connection speed, can take awhile. The time remaining estimates are usually wrong.

  • Yosemite Download Stuck At 860/870mb

When I attempt to download Yosemite from the Mac App Store it reverts from 870 to 860 and doesn't progress from there any help appreciated

In spite of the way it displays on the thread, I wasn't actually trying to reply to your post - I was trying to comment that the solution from M.Shadows worked for me too (by the way, the upgrade completed fine). I may have hit the wrong Reply button.
I'm sure that you're right and that connecting to BT Openzone would work and would not involve downloading stuff, except that I have never been successful in connecting to Openzone -  there's some problem with my credentials that BT don't seem to be able to sort out. And if you've ever tried BT support, you'll appreciate that getting them to fix anything is a minor nightmare.
Having done a bit of reading, I'm actually quite impressed with getcloak - if you're doing anything with sensitive data on a public Wi-Fi network, it provides you with strong encryption with (I can now attest) a minimum of fuss. If you remember the fuss made about Firesheep a couple of years ago: it looks like a genuine solution. The fact that it sorts out the download limit is kind of a side effect.

  • Yosemite download stuck at 870mb

    Hi there
While downloading Yosemite the download stopped and would not resume. When I deleted the cache file it would restart but the same error occurs. I have since repeated this three times and each time the download stalls at 870mb with the following error:
These guys also having the same issue:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8IdGDgnBUQ&safe=active
    Any suggestions?

It downloaded the next day without problem, and I installed it tonight on a guinea pig drive. The translucency seems pointless and stupid to me, but I don't mind the look and feel generally. I think that for me, the sticking point to full-time adoption of it will be iTunes 12.
Note to anyone who may have a first-generation CalDigit USB 3 card installed (in a Mac Pro): The Caldigit support page shows support for 10.5 through 10.9, but the download also contains a driver for 10.10. I installed it, and my USB 3 drive is once again seen.

  • Yosemite download is insanely slow (nothing wrong with my network)

Hi all, I'm trying to upgrade to Yosemite from Mavericks, or rather, I have been trying for the last 2 days. The download from the Mac store is crawling at a crazy slow rate. I've pulled about 1GB in 2 days now. It seems to get like 1MB downloaded every few minutes and the Mac Store progress says there's like 4 days left.
I've run all sorts of speed checks on my network and nothing is out of the ordinary, I can go off and download other files at over 1 MB/sec right now.
I'm at a loss as to what to do, there's not really any support for how to find out what's going on and I don't think there's anywhere other than the Mac Store I can download this from.
Does anyone else have experience with extremely slow, persisting issues with the Mac Store downloads? Any suggestions?
    Thank you

I had the same problem with a very slow download of Yosemite, I was using OS X Mavericks. My download was going to take about 2 days at 20 KB/sec and I knew my system was capable of 2 MB/sec or 100 times more speed.  My Mac and network connection was otherwise working perfectly and at good speed as is the usual situation.  I have an Apple TV and that was working great indicating Apple's giant server system was OK.  Very few people seemed to be having this slow download problem.
I tried a number of things without success, including:
    - quit all common Mac apps except Activity Monitor
    - reboot VDSL modem/router
    - reboot Mac
    - pause/resume Yosemite download many times (trying to randomly grab a good Apple server/connection)
    - try wired connection to Mac as well as Wi-Fi. Both are working fine and capable of 2 MB/sec
    - reset Safari (someone said it helped him but I'm not sure why)
    - Force Quit process "storeagent" (which does the downloading)
Then I found comments somewhere that indicated the problem might be something related to internet problems in western USA and I was probably using that part of the internet since I am located in west Canada near Vancouver BC.  Some people had solved their problem by switching from their ISP's DNS servers to other public DNS servers in the east USA.
My ISP is Telus and I was using one of their DNS servers in my area, as automatically assigned.  I tried one of the east USA DNS  servers (I think it was a Comcast one) and it didn't work for the download and Safari could not connect to anything.  Then I tried switching to the Google DNS servers at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and the download took off at the expected 2 MB/sec and it was done in less than an hour!  Another half hour and I was running Yosemite and it runs great on my 2011 Mac Mini.
Here is the procedure that worked for me:
    - pause the Yosemite download with the pause/resume button in App Store
    - Force Quit process "storeagent" using Activity Monitor (this may not be necessary)
    - Quit the App Store
    - change DNS Servers to Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 in System Preference / Network / Advanced / DNS.  This effects the Mac only.
    - for the above step you should write down your original DNS server settings in case you need to change them back
    - do some browsing in Safari or other browser to confirm new DNS is working OK
    - restart the App Store
    - Resume Yosemite download with App Store "resume" button.  A new version of process storeagent should start working
    - see if it now downloads faster
That's what worked for me.  Good luck!

  • Can't download library books to my ADE, v. 3.0 from Mac OS X, with Yosemite download

i have a Mac OS X 10 w. Yosemite download.  am having trouble downloading library books to ADE, v. 3.0, which i would then like to transfer to my Simple touch Nook.  I noticed that the authorization is for a DRM but the books are ACSM.  should i change the computer authorization and if so, how do i do this?

Thank you.  I did find a book that i had checked out from the library in the documents file.  however, the book wants to open in iBooks.  i want the book to go to my Simple Touch Nook and i thought that i could only do that through ADE, v. 3, which i have downloaded (several times).  however i can’t get the library books to download or go to ADE anymore.  I reauthorized the computer, using  an Overdrive authorization, but i still can’t get books to download to ADE.  i believe that before all this trouble, i had an ADE authorization.  I was wondering if i should de-authorize the computer (but don’t know how to do that) and re-insert an ADE authorization.  (but of course i don’t really know how to do that either).  i have spent so much time one this matter that i can’t remember what i’ve done.  Nook and Apple say that this is an ADE problem, and i have reviewed the discussions in the Forums, but so far i haven’t found anything exactly on point — or perhaps i just don’t recognize an answer that is staring me in the face.

  • My iPad won't download any music.it says download error. I have 100 downloads stuck on my downloads at the bottom of the page on itunes

My iPad won't download any music. It says download error try again. I have 100 downloads stuck on my downloads in iTunes store.

Remove the song in question from the sync list and see if the rectifies the problem.
If it does, then iTunes believes the song no longer exists on your drive and that will need to be corrected.

  • Yosemite download taking "5 days"

Yosemite download taking "5 days" even after re-start, pausing download, and good wifi connection re-start, pausing download, and good wifi connection??? I have a MacBook Pro and am currently running Mavericks.  I am in college and I don't have time to wait on the download.  I have a paper due in the morning I am trying to work on.  I am not very good with computers...so I have tried all I know to do.
    -  Desperate College Student

Check to see what's in your /Applications folder, the installer might still be there, it's called 'Install OS X Yosemite', if it is you could copy it to another device or drag it elsewhere while holding the 'option' key down to make a duplicate on your current drive.  If you have that you wouldn't have to download it all over again (Apple decided to delete it once it thought you were done, which is annoying).  If you still have the installer you only have to run it like any other program.
    Maybe try:
    https://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=915041082&mt= 12
That page should direct you to the App store and let you begin the process all over, hopefully, if you close your local App store before going there it just might go directly to the Yosemite installer, again.
Other than that... I had a somewhat different problem.  Do the incompatible apps specifically mention Yosemite?  The three apps that needed to upgraded were all upgrades for 10.9.5 and I shouldn't have selected those since they'd be obsolete in a few minutes anyway.
Good luck, maybe post your results for the next victim

    Hello luffre,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you are having trouble with a bluetooth connection. If it is happening with just a mouse or keyboard I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
