Yosemite - filter failed OKI 3300

The trick for the LabelWriter works perfect!
Is there anyone with a solution for the filter failes problem with the OKI 3300/3400 series?

Yes, thank you, that was what I meant.
(/Library/Printers/OKIDATA/Filters/OKIHC004.plugin/Contents/MacOS/OKIHC004) stopped with status 1.
shows the Oki filter crashing for some reason, and there may be more info on this in the "All Messages" section of Console. Depending on Oki's error reporting, there may also be a separate entry for this under System or User Diagnostic Reports.
I don't have this printer, so I am not sure if this will help, but you could try removing the OKIHC004.plugin from /Library/Printers/OKIDATA/Filters/ (without throwing it away) and see if that helps. You may get an error message that the software isn't installed correctly, in which case you can copy it back. If it doesn't complain, you may have limited functionality but still be able to print.
Does this happen with every print job? All file types? And thank you again.

  • Problem printing to OKI - error msg = "filter" failed

Okidata usually updates drivers for Mac OS upgrades but does not have one for Yosemite (yet? I hope?). The error message on the printer reads: "filter" failed. I've never seen that before. Anyone know what this means and/or how to work around it?
Same message from all applications. Message is in the Mac Printer preferences box, not on the printer.
I can print to old HP inkjet - my backup - but not to OKI c5800Ldn color laser printer.
Tried deleting printer from list and adding OKI with IPP address - no joy.

    Didn't specify .... I'm using PS CS5, version 12.1

  • Yosemite - Canon printers stopped working 'filter failed'

This is a curious tale. I have a MBP Retina Late 2013 and connect to a Windows network. I have two Canon Image Runner printers on the network. To install them, I downloaded the drivers, then in ADD PRINTER, chose 'Windows' and chose the printers from the list presented. All good so far.
The printers have worked fine for 8 months.
Two weeks ago all MS Office programs started crashing whenever I tried printing from them. I've had issues with Office on a Mac before so, because I was very busy, I put dealing with this issue into the 'eventually' basket.
Last week Adobe Reader crashed when printing a pdf. Illustrator and InDesign printed fine, however, for a couple more days, but then they too failed to print (but the programs didn't crash). When I looked at the print queue I had the message 'Printing Stopped - 'filter failed'. This happened every time, whether I printed from any program (Word, Pages, InDesign, Illustrator, Reader, Acrobat Pro) or to either Canon printer. A search online threw up all sorts of reasons, mostly having to do with upgrading to Yosemite and the drivers being Sandboxed. But I had been printing successfully for months on Yosemite, and there had been no recent updates to the OS.
After contacting the firm's IT support (Windows, with few clues about Mac), they suggested uninstalling the printers and reinstalling them. Which is where things got really curious. I deleted all the printers, rebooted, and went to ADD PRINTER, but where the network had earlier given me a list of available printers, there was nothing. Also curious, I suddenly had an Oki laser printer installed (Bonjour). To satisfy my curiosity I printed something to the Oki printer, and it went through. I then searched through the building for an Oki printer, found it out in despatch, and sure enough there was my print job.
I tried to delete the Oki printer, but whenever I reboot it comes back!
At home I have several printers (all deleted when I purged the printers at IT Support's request) and I reinstalled them successfully. A Fuji-Xerox and 2 Brothers all print fine.
The problem, therefore, has to lie with either Canon printers specifically, the Windows network or ghosts. Nobody else uses my MBP and the IT Support denied any recent upgrade to the server or software.
I really, really, really would like to be able to print at work, and the guy out at despatch is getting annoyed whenever I send something his way. Has anyone had a similar issue, or does anyone know what the heck is going on?

Is it necessary for you to print via the Windows share? If not, then I would suggest you look at printing directly to the imageRUNNERs. To do so you will need to determine their IPv4 addresses, as the imageRUNNER series does not currently support Bonjour, so you will not see them in the Default view of the Add printer window. Once you have the IPv4 address for each imageRUNNER, you can add them by selecting the IP icon (instead of Default or Windows) and entering the IPv4 address. You then set the Protocol to HP Jetdirect-Socket and leave the Queue field blank. You can then change the Name from the IPv4 address to something more meaningful to you and you can enter a Location if so desired. Then the last step is to select the supporting Canon driver in the Use menu.
If IT says you must use the Windows share then the ability to see a shared printer has nothing to do with an installed printer driver. So when you select to add the printer and select Windows, you should see the list of Workgroups and Domain names. Assuming you do and select the appropriate one the Windows print server belongs to, then you should get a prompt to authenticate to the server. Here you can enter your Windows domain account and this should result in you seeing the shared print queue. Does this happen?

  • HP CLJ 4700dn + Mac OS 10.10.1 Yosemite + custom page size + landscape = Filter failed

    Hi!
I am having the same problem as described here, but with a HP Color Laserjet 4700dn printer:
    http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=3737540&docId=emr_na-c04477046&docLocale...
When printing in MacOS 10.10.1 Yosemite from any non-Adobe app and
    1. selecting a custom paper size - in my case: a C5 envelope with the following sizes (in mm):
    width: 162 mm
    height: 229 mm
margins top: 70, left 75, right 0, bottom 10 mm
but I've also tried to create a custom size that's the same size as A4 but with different margins
    2. selecting landscape orientation,
I get a "filter failed" error in the printer queue and then a Apple crash report window that starts with the following:

Is HP and/or Apple aware of that this is a problem also for the CLJ 4700 series? Any info on when this will be fixed?

    Hi!
I am sorry you are having this issue since you updated to Apple's Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
After reading all the clear information you provided, I strongly believe the document you reference is related to your problem's scenario: using custom papers in landscape mode with a PostScript driver, after updating to Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
I recommend you frequently update your Mac OS X 10.10 system with Apple updates, as the component crashing is part of Mac OS. I have verified that the issue is, as today, not yet fixed in Apple's Mac OS X 10.10.
Until then, the workarounds referenced in the document should be applicable to your scenario as the only solution. Alternatively, Mac OS X versions prior to 10.10 Yosemite do not include this bug.
I would like to hear from you if the workarounds worked for you. I will post an update once I verify Apple finally released a fix for Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
    Best Regards
    I am an HP employee.

  • OKI MC 350 - Filter: Failed

    Hello,
I got an OKI MC350 connected to my iMac via network (printer is connected to router), printing worked fine but one day I restarted computer and suddenly when I want to print something I get error "Stopped - "Filter" failed".
I already tried removing and adding the printer and also doing complete Reset printing system as described in one of the guides, but it didn't work and I still get the same error.
Any idea what could solve the problem, please?
    Thanks

The driver filters are typically located within a Filters or PDE or Plugins folder located in the /Library/Printers/vendor folder. Since the printer reset did not help, then you could try trashing the vendor folder after you remove the printer from Print & Scan. So in your case I would expect it to be OKI folder located under /Library/Printers. With the OKI folder trashed, run the driver installer again for the MC350 and then add the printer. Then see if you can print without the filter error.
Also, if this printer supports the Postscript or PCL printer languages, then there is a Generic Postscript and Generic PCL driver included with OS X. Both have very limited function (the PCL only prints in B&W) but if the printer does support either language, then this may at least let you print if reinstalling the MC350 driver does not resolve the error.

  • Printing - 'filter failed'

Installed Yosemite, printing stops working on my Canon iSensys LBP5360 (aka Canon Color Imagerunner outside Europe).

    Worked fine yesterday on Mavericks.

  • Print window reads "Stopped 'Filter' failed, 1 Page"

    Hi
When I go to print a doc my Print window shows the following message "Stopped 'Filter' failed, 1 Page"  and refuses to print. I have checked all of the necessary things regarding the printer i.e. calibrating, cleaning printheads, ink supplies & printing test pages etc. Have DL'd all of the up to date drivers and have ensured that I am printing via a solid USB connection and yet still I get nothing. The printer is an Advent AW-10 and was working absolutely fine until I updated to Yosemite however I'm not sure whether or not this has anything to do with it but in my experience of updating OS's it usually does, any help would be fantastic.
The machine I'm using is a Mac Pro v10.10 OS X Yosemite
    Look forward to any ideas/help,
    Best,
    Alex

A rule of thumb: treat any OS update as if it is untested and you are now going to give it one, hang onto your old system 'as is' so you can revert or dual boot.
Check before installing a new OS for problems, for drivers, to insure your hardware and applications and if any need updates check here:
    http://www.roaringapps.com
Backup - twice at least. And you may need to start with a new TimeMachine backup drive with new OS so you can revert back; also, even if it is just a smaller partition on your much larger TimeMachine drive, create a partition large enough to hold a system image, clone, that you can boot from if needed.
And definitely do not install new OS over the old. Yes you are suppose to be able, yes there tends to be more issues though if you do - the 'easy' way can turn into the long hard road instead.
And because it might be a good chance to reformat and initialize your drive. Or use this as an opportunity to buy and install a new better system disk drive (SSD preferable at this point - even if you have an SSD from 2-3 years back).
On another topic: those 'forced shutdowns' only make matters worse. ie, directory corruption and damage, possible corruption of files, plist (preferences) for which:
Got files that are not backed up? take care of just those.
Use Recovery Mode and repair the disk drive twice, "top" drive name and again with the system volume name.
Follow up with Safe Boot - might even do that twice.
Use Internet Recovery Mode and do a clean install - to another drive!
... but before you do so, save the installer, copy it to another disk or flash drive etc and then create your own flash installer (Lion DiskMaker is very easy to use for that).
Then you will at least have a solid system, have only Apple updates to worry about, and can begin to build back up.
Setup Assistant makes it easy to import all your old settings and such from your old system or from TimeMachine.
Any problems from there would be OS X 10.10.1 alone. If it IS working though, now is a great time to make a system backup image (clone, something you can restore from or boot from if needed).
    And testing done.
People have been doing something along those lines for years, there are dozens of "lists" of "Best practice for updating or installing a new OS"
And done right you have a good safety net so you can -
Set aside the new Yosemite OS for later /
Go back to Mavericks that was working and continue to use that all the time or when you need to do something (print) that requires 10.9.5.
Then when Apple or another vendor has updates for your system, you can install and try those out.
You could end up with backup sets for both Yosemite and Mavericks.
And before you do install say 10.10.xyz some day, make sure you have the last version - would not want a power outage, disk failure, or the update process to go kaput and leave you with no good working system.
See if you can repair and uninstall and reinstall - or delete - the preferences and files and printer cache etc so your system does
    Print as it should
    Shutdowns properly and no freezing
    No directory or disk issues
SMC and NVRAM have been cleared and reset and Startup Disk is reset to the proper default volume
Sorry for length, just meant to say "do some basic system maintenance" is all. :-)

I have a new MacBook Pro, and when I try to print, the laptop says, "stopped filter failed 1 page". What can I do?

    Okay, regarding this problem:
I'm trying to print to an Advent AW10 printer from an Imac running Yosemite 10.10.1 and it's been driving me nuts for the last two months...
I got on to Advent yesterday and recieved this instruction from their support team this morning and it worked and I'm now printing away merrily:
    Please follow below steps:
In Spotlight search window type Terminal and then press Enter.
This should bring up the terminal window/program.
    In the Terminal type:
sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf' then press Enter.
It will ask for your password. Please enter system password.(You will not see password entering)
    After that type following:
sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd then press Enter.
    Try Printing.
I don't think this is specific to Advent and is rather simply an 'opening up' of something blocking the 'printer channels' (layman's terms obviously)
    Hope this helps people out!

try making certain that you have the latest drivers installed, which you can caget fron HP. After downloading do to system prefs>>print/fax. hightlight the HO1320n (use the - key). then use the add 9+) key ang select the HP1320n icon to add the nem printer. Set the HP as your your default printer. When you go to print for the first time, make sure that the selected printed is the the HP1320. It should go. Sometimes it need to be re-created when there are multiples.
Good luck and hope this helps

  • My HP LaserJet CP1025nw won't print, "Filter failed" error

Whenever I print something, it acts like it's about to then a system notification just says "printing stopped." There is a "Filter failed" error at http://localhost:631/printers/HP-LaserJet-CP1025nw. I have hplip installed, and have reinstalled it a few times. Two things I've tried from searching the web. I cleared the pacman cache and still the same issue. I tried installing foo2zjs  from the AUR, but it would not compile (did not pass the validity check). It prints fine on Linux Mint. I'm out of ideas and don't know where else to go. Any suggestions?

That page's troubleshooting for the "Filter failed" message worked out. I consulted the Wiki before but never found that exact page. I guess I didn't use the best search criteria. Thanks for pointing it out.

  • Canon MF4400w Printer - "Filter" failed error. Can't scan either.

    Hi,
I work in a wholly Mac environment. We have around 10 plus Macs in the office, most of them running 10.8.3 (the latest I believe). All Macs are able to print to our Canon MF4400w Printer fine EXCEPT mine.
I've had a Canon technician come by. We've installed/reinstalled the canon drivers multiple times, tried via USB/Wireless, and I personally looked up these forums to try and diagnose the problem myself. As far as I can tell, it has something to do with "capdftopdl", whatever that is.
This is a new iMac that was purchase a few weeks ago. I've used migration assistant to transfer my files from my old Mac to this new one via LAN cable. Printing from this Mac has always resulted in the "Stopped. "Filter" failed." error. It has never printed successfully despite trying multiple different drivers.

    Things I have tried:
    1) Some threads suggest that it may be a corrupted Font problem. Followed steps suggested by thread, no luck.
    2) Some suggested it was a setting under network. Followed those steps, still same problem.
    3) Setting paper print size to A4/Letter
    Please help!

Can you reply with your email address, but in the form of user_name at domain_name dot com (dot country if applicable). I have some files to send you to replace the Canon files that are possibly causing the error.
Also, for your reference, you posted in the Lion forum but you have Mtn Lion. If you posted in the Mtn Lion forum I would have got to you sooner.

  • Epson R2400 'Filter' failed error after 10.8.2 Update

After the recent 10.8.2 update my Epson R2400 printer fails when printing with a 'Filter' failed error. Everything was working normally beforehand (10.8).
    I've rebooted printer.
I've removed and installed printer in the control panel.
I can get the printer to print with the opensource gutenprint driver ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/files/ ) but it doesn't handle color profiles correctly which is just as bad as not being able to print at all.
    Any ideas?

Just to follow up. I've now confirmed this issue on several machines. The Epson drivers installed by apple will always lead to 'Filter failed error'.
Thie 2.28 driver available here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398
After install it will fix the problem, but annoyingly after you install it software update will keep prompting you to install a new set of Epson printer drivers... don't do it, you'll start getting the error again.
