ZEN: How to play successive playlists like in a ZEN Sto

Is there anyway to set the playlist so that they play one after another like they do on the ZEN Stone? I know the Stone is a completely different mp3 system in the way it plays the files. But I love the way my Stone plays the playlists one after another, allowing me to skip between them easily. It also breaks up the number of the songs in the playlists, so its easier to skip through rather then having one big playlist on the ZEN.
?Does anyone know if this feature is already on the ZEN and how to enable it. OR is there some firmwear download I can get for it.
Btw I have a ZEN 8 Gb

  • Tip: How to play a playlist one song at a time from iTunes on a computer using the checkbox property

I would like to share a tip about how to play a playlist one song at a time from iTunes on a computer. The tip I am sharing is simple, but I was not able to find it in the iTunes Help. After searching on the internet I found the idea for this solution in a discussion in which this was presented as a frustrating problem rather than a desired behavior. This tip relies on the checkbox for each song in iTunes. For a song in a playlist to play automatically, the checkbox must be checked. To keep a song from playing in a playlist, simply uncheck it. Therefore, to keep all songs from playing automatically in a playlist, simply uncheck them all. Now you have a list of desired songs in a desired order but none of them will play automatically. You can play each one when you want to play it without having to search for the next song and without having to be at the computer to stop the playing after each song.
    Step by step:
    1. Create the playlist.
    2. Uncheck all of the check boxes in the playlist (In iTunes for Windows, ctrl click one of the check marks to uncheck all of the checkboxes at once)
    3. Now double click (or select and press spacebar) a song to play it. It will stop when finished because there is no other song checked to be played next.
    4. If you want to change back to normal sequential play, ctrl click one of the check marks again to change all of the checkboxes back to the checked status.
Based on some discussions I found while looking for a solution (including at least one in which the questioner got bashed about why anybody would ever want to do such a thing and in which the proposed solutions were things like creating one song playlists or simply press stop after each song), some may not understand why this would ever be desired.  Here's why I wanted to do it:
I was responsible for playing a series of songs at a dance. I needed to stop after each song to have a transition time to allow me to introduce the next song and to give new dancers time to get onto the floor and other dancers an opportunity to leave the floor. Furthermore, I was also dancing and didn't want to have to spend time searching for the next song (which is why I wanted to create a playlist in advance with just the songs I wanted to play in the order I wanted to play them) and I wanted each song to stop after playing since I was not at the computer to press stop.
I hope this will help others who have a similar need.

Thank you! I put some self help hypnosis tracks to listen to on my iPod. I did not want to go to the next track automatically, I wanted to listen to them individually, one at a time. (If I fell asleep, I did not want to 'wake up' in the middle of a different track.) Your information helps me understand that I need to re-load this playlist onto my iPod from my  Mac computer, only first, I need to UNCHECK the boxes in front of each track so the iPod will STOP each time after playing the selected track. It is too bad that so many functions are not availabvle within the iPod, but that is probably why they can make it so compact.

  • Don't Understand How to Play a Playlist in ITunes

I don't understand how to get Itunes to play my playlists on my home computer. I select the playlist, press the play button and either nothing happens or it may play the first selection in the playlist then stop. When I try to skip a song, it just stops as well. Is there some setting I need to have to simply play a playlist on my home computer. The playlists work fine on my Ipod. I don't get it. Please help.

    Glad we found it.
Ya, the checkboxes are there to basically let iTunes know, yes, you can play me automatically. If they are unchecked, they don't get played (unless you specifically pick to play them) and if there are NO checked songs in a playlist, after it finishes the current song, finds nothing checked, so doesn't play anything else.

  • How to play a swf like a flv?

Client has changed their mind on using external flvs and now
want to use external swfs. I was usign the flv componet for this,
is there an easy way to get similar playback controls for a video
for the playback of an external swf?

you can make your own or use the individual components. using
the individual components is easier when you start, but you may
find it easier to make your own by the time you're
    finishing.

  • How do I play a playlist in iTune?

This is the simplest instructions that I have for "How to play a playlist in iTunes." I cannot believe it is this hard.
    Select "Library"
Use ctrl+A or Edit>>Select All to select every song
Right click on the selected songs and choose "Uncheck Selection"
Click on the playlist you wish to play.
Use ctrl+A to select all the songs in the playlist.
Right click on the selected songs and choose "Check Selection"
Now hit the Play button at the top of the iTunes window.
I really was expecting to right-click on a playlist and select "Play." It can't possibly be this hard to play a playlist. So what am I missing? I have read the help files for iTunes. I expected the Help topic "Listening to music in libraries or playlists" to cover this, but it talks about playing a single song, but not a playlist.

I must be the most incompetent user of an iPod in history. I do nothing but fight with iTunes. I've come to the conclusion that I hold some assumption which conflicts with the beliefs of Apple, and I want to know what the right way to use the iTunes for a wide range of questions.

"A) If generally everyone leaves their entire library checked at all times, what's the value of even having the checkboxes?"
They control not only what gets skipped in iTunes playback, but what gets skipped in syncing to an iPod, in burning a CD, and can even be used in building smart playlists. The default is, in fact, to have everything checked.
"B) I've been using the checkboxes to play individual albums. That's why I don't leave everything checked. Should I instead be building a separate playlist for each album? That seems redundant to marking the songs as being part of a particular album. "
Yes, that would be redundant, or at least silly
If you want to play just one album, do this:
-click on the "browse" eye-con in the top right.
-Use the browser view to select the artist you want. A list of all appropriate albums will appear in the right hand column.
-Select the album you want and double click on the album title in the browser. It will begin playing the Album.
Just a question...have you gone through the tutorial on the iTunes support site? It goes through a bunch of the basics for you.

I liked to old one better, but this one is still nice

  • (Shoutcast) Have QT play a playlist

I'm having a shoutcast-server serve my users on-demand content. The URI to those files are: nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn:port/content/file.mp3. This is a streamed file. Shoutcast also creates a virtual playlist for that file with the same filename, but ending with .pls.
Now I'm trying to make an embedded quicktime player play a playlist of files. E.g.
    nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn:port/content/file1.mp3
    nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn:port/content/file2.mp3
    nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn:port/content/file3.mp3
However, when creating a .pls file and directing the embedded player to it, it'll only play the first file and then give me a "-3285 Not Connected" error when it's supposed to segue to the next file. Any idea why this is, or how to play a playlist of streamed files in an embedded QT-player?
    Best
    Emil

You open your playlist, you click one of the two buttons to start it playing.
Then say, you decide to have a look at your albums in the ALBUMS pane, so off you go there. What possible use is a pause symbol in the playslist window now ? That's why it's in the upper left. And the Shuffle and the Repeat icons are in the top central play information box. Where you can always see them where ever you are.
The shuffle works a lttle differently now. Shuffle doesn't actually change the order of the songs in the actual playlist, it just randomly selects the next song. Want to see the order ? In the top central information box, on the extreme right, is the "Up Next" symbol (3 bars). Click that and it will show how your playlist has been shuffled and even the name if the playlist in case you've forgotten. Click the little clock and you can see what's recently been played.

  • Backing up playlists in Zen V Plus play

Hi all - please does anyone know how to make a backup of the playlists in a Creative Zen V Plus player? Backing up the music is easy - simply copy to the PC and reload once ready. But the playlists? Drag and drop does not seem to work; the playlists will not save to PC like the songs do.
    Any ideas, anyone?

    Witchsight wrote:
So there is no option in the Zen itself to simply play them in order then.. Crappy. How does the monkey thing work? And do i have to do that to every cd while its still on the computer?
It's just an .mp3 player- it can't be expected to automatically 'know' the order of every CD ever recorded.
If you don't tag it properly, it will sort them in the default order- by number or alphabetically.
ID3 Tags 'tell' it the correct order. You need to tag your .mp3 files correctly if you want the songs in the right order.

  • How to get full playlist to play

I just installed my Apple TV. I immediately wanted to simply play a playlist from my iTunes library. I selected the playlist I wanted, and pressed play on the remote. It played ONLY the first song, then stopped. In order to hear any other songs I had to manually select them from the playlist and hit play every time. How pointless. Is there a way to get it to play the entire thing? There is nothing in the "manual", and nothing online. It seems the ONLY concern people have with the Apple TV is watching things, so that's the only information provided. There's nothing about how to use the music side of it.

Haha .. I have seen one million post on this issue since 7.1 was released. Everybody hates it and it is perhaps Apple's stupidest design decision. I, personally, happen to like it ... or not mind it as much either way, I should say.
But that's not what you asked ... Apple thought it was best for some odd reason to change the full screen pics to an itty bitty circle. As a previous poster said, it cannot be changed. But be sure to go to Apple's feedback website and let them know you are unhappy about it. I sense an iOS 7.1.1 coming out REAL soon!

how do I turn off the default radio in my music app.  I cannot play my playlist until it first defaults to radio and then I have to start all over. this is very tedious!!!

This got me curious when I first saw it... It does indeed seem very Un-Apple-like (at least historically) to prevent a user from customizing their own device - Mac or iDevice - but today I'm unsure. I cannot grasp how a UX designer could leave a simple "OFF" switch out of the control panel. Another thing that Music Data Streaming does is eat up your Data Plan.
This May  not be the exact issue as you describe, but seems to solve an issue of a Radio Playlist in iTunes resuming where it left off from the last use...

Re: How do you turn off i tunes radio on the ipad air once it starts playing songs?  in response to Betty91545
Play last song on list, songs will then stop.  Works for me on iPad. Haven't tried yet on iPhone.
It is likely that THIS may be part of the real reason to push the iTunes Radio feature - revenue stream (nobody remembers "Payola?"):
Apple is more beholden to the shareholders than in the old days

  • How to play playlists without shuffle?

HOw do I turn off shuffle.  I cannot play a playlist or an album without "shuffle" mode engaged?

While listening to a song, any song, tap the artwork one time to bring up additional controls.  You will find the shuffle option on the right hand side.  It looks like to arrows that cross over each other. Tap this icon until it turns white, meaning that it is off.

Thank you for your reply. After a lot of fruitless searches, I hit on a page that offered the same wisdom you did. I feel like rather a fool for not knowing that. Grr. I really appreciate your answer, and that you didn't end it with "dummy." Cheers to you. Hope someone does something kind for you today.

  • How do I get my ipod to play a playlist from reverse order? (Start with recently added song instead of first added)

How do I get my ipod to play a playlist from reverse order? (Start with recently added song instead of first added)
So I'm adding new songs to a very old playlist? Is there anyway that when I add them, they automatically go to top of playlist? How about getting one song to the top of a playlist.  That drag to arrange function is very annoying because it is slow and the playlist does not scroll up very well on a PC.

Make a new playlist by pressing the little plus button at the very lower left corner of iTunes. An new playlist will appear in the Source pane called "untitled playlist". While the name is highlighted, you can change it to whatever you want. Drag all of the tracks from all the albums that comprise a single book to that playlist. Sync that playlist to your iPod.

  • How do I get iTunes 11 to work as the old iTunes did in this respect: after playing a song in one playlist, I click on another playlist, highlight a song, press play, and get the result of that song playing & that playlist continuing?

How do I get iTunes 11 to work as the old iTunes did in this respect: after playing a song in one playlist, I click on another playlist, highlight a song, press play, and get the result of that song playing & that playlist continuing?  As it goes now, one clicks on the song in the new playlist where the arrow is and then chooses 'Play Song Next.'  So, it plays next, but then the song after that is back in the old playlist.  I want to use iTunes smoothly without the extra clicks I've had to do in order to get the playlist to continue.  This is music for background while I play the violin at restaurants, and extra clicks and hassle is quite unappreciated, especailly since it worked fine in the previous iTunes.
       Thanks.

At the top of the playlist where it shows the playlist title and the number of songs, there are two icons. Click the "play" triangle to add the entire playlist to "Up Next", or the "shuffle" symbol to do the same thing but in random order. But the currently playing track will stop playing, and all the songs in "Up Next" will be removed (replaced by the ones from this playlist).
If you hold down the "option" key while clicking those icons, the currently playing song will continue playing, and the new playlist will be added to "Up Next" (above the songs that were already there).

  • How do i play iTunes playlists on sonos system

Sonos manual and support tell me to copy the itunes music libary.xml file to the to the shared drive (NAS) where the music is stored. This I have done but still cannot play the playlists. Help. If I do get a reply can you make it simple with regard to computer speak. Thanks

Hi guys, I asked Sonos this very question and they came back with this:
    Hello,
Thank you for contacting Sonos Support. For Sonos to work, just 1 of our components need to be wired to your router/network. The other components will work wireless with the 1 wired component. Please make sure you have an Apple Express with at least 2 ethernet ports, because the Apple Express with one 1 port is incompatible.
