Zen Nano Plus won't fill complet

I transferred approximately 4.8 MB onto my new Nano plus and it says it has over 5MB of free space but I keep getting an error message that there is insufficient disk space for more music files. I'm converting to WMA & there's lots of room!
I'm using Win98SE, which Creative says is compatible.
Does anyone know why only half of the storage space will work?

Make sure you create folders on the player, that you can transfer the music into. What's probably happening here is that you're running into the limits of the file system. There is a limit to how many files can fit into the root folder.

  • Zen Nano Plus WON'T START / RECOVERY / RES

Hello ZNP friends and fellow victims of frustration,
I have the GB Zen Nano Plus and a Windows XP operating system. My Zen is just over 3 months old, and a few days ago I started having the "stuck on Logo or hour glass (building library) problem". Like many of you, it has frustrated me beyond belief in my attempts to correct it. I'm certainly not a computer whiz, but I'm fairly good at following clear, numbered, valid instructions. I have tried many of the offered cures for this problem as provided in the discussion forum. None have worked for me.
I have just stumbled onto/into the fix for the WON'T START / RECOVERY / RESCUE problem. At least, I hope it lasts. The bad news is that I don't know or remember the steps for the cure. The good news is that the problem can be fixed. In the frustration of trying a million variations on the steps offered in the discussion area, I happened to fix my nano plus. I was becoming like a hyper zealot playing a slot machine.
What I do remember is this:
) I did download the application ZenNanoPlus_PCFW_LF___0 and install it, and put an icon on my desktop so I could activate it easily.
    2) I did double click it to call it up.
    3) I attached my nano plus via USB to the computer. I don't remember if I had to do that before or after bringing up the above application. (You may have to try both.)
    4) I did leave the battery out of the nano plus during this operation.
    5) I was required to reformat the nano plus which eliminated anything on it. When the instruction came on to reformat, it said "... area" so I was worried that the reformat might include more than the device itself but it didn't.
    6) Then I loaded a song, disconnected the device from the computer, put in a battery, and it started fine.
What a task that whole process was! Of course I'm not telling you anything new. I was tempted to just get on with life, but then I thought I should really share this with those of you who have been in the trenches...to let you know that a cure is possible.
Creative should really have a clear set of instructions by now for fixing this problem.
    Good luck!
    Buck

Have you updated the firmware? this could be the major cause. Also, MP3 has far fewer kinks as a uni'versal format than WMA. If possible, I highly suggest using MP3 on MP3 players.

  • Zen Nano Plus won't play MP3, can't convert to WMA, tried new firmw

    Help!
I have just reloaded the firmware (and all my music) onto my Zen Nano Plus and it didn't fix my problem.
I have mostly .wma files and they play fine. I have tried to load .mp3 files but my player just skips them. I tried using the Organizer software to convert the .mp3 files to .wma files and it says they are converted but I get about min of each song and that's it.
    So I don't know why I can't play .mp3 files and I also don't know why the .mp3's can't be fully converted to .wma's.
    Can anyone help?Thanks in advance,Marci

Wave files will only play by tricking the player into thinking that they are wav files created by the voice recorder. Put wav file into a folder called Recorded Tracks and see if it plays. This will at least see if it will play something. How did you transfer your files?Try ripping a CD to wma files using MediaSource or Windows Media Player - sometimes the firmware gets in a twist and will play mp3s but not wmas, or vice versa. The solution to that is to reload the firmware - go to the Support->Downloads link at the top of the page to get the latest firmware for your player. Protected songs (wma files with DRM) need to be transferred using WMP or MediaSource to transfer the license across, but mp3 files can be drag'n'dropped in Windows Explorer. A protected song without a license will give the symptoms you detail. As it's duff from the start you might just want to take it back - but it's worth trying the firmware reload first to save you some bother. PB

  • Creative Zen Nano Plus won't turn on!!!!Please h

For some reason, my 256MB Creative Zen Nano Plus that I've only had for three months has suddenly failed to turn on. I have changed the battery several times so I know it isnt that, but when?I press the power button, the 'creative' logo comes up for about 2 seconds with the blue backlight before switching itself off. When I plug my player in my creative media organiser on my computer through the USB though, it connects absolutely fine and I can upload my media files, its just literally turning it on that is such a problem. I can't explain why its doing this, the only thing I'm thinking of is that it was in my handbag for about 6 weeks without being touched so I'm not sure if something in my bag could've damaged it's But I'm worried because I'm not sure if my player is under warranty as?I don't have the warranty sticker on the back of, only a number and a bar code? Can anyone possibly help as I've been everywhere to try and get it fixed but no one knows whats wrong!?Thank you?Laura.

Can you still connect your player to your PC? If so then you can reload the firmware. Go to the Support, Downloads page for the Nano Plus and download the firmware from there. Make sure you click on the Show Details link as that explains how to carry out the reload.

  • Zen Nano Plus vs. N200: Clicks and pops complete fix

    Hi!

Two extra colours (whoo), and apparently another 2 or 3 hours of battery life (then again, the MuVo did exceed the 5 hours stated in all it's reviews, so no change)
They were rebranded due to the Zen being piece models, and the MuVos being 2 part models.

  • Can't power on Zen Nano Plus

I have a Zen Nano Plus gb. The unit powered off so I replaced the battery as it was weak. Now it won't power up. I tested the batteries and tried different batteries. No help. The display blinks on and off at /4 second intervals. When I connect it to the USB port the display lights but without the Logo and my PC thinks it is unattached. Mine is about 0 months old. Does anyone know if it is still on warranty and what can be done? Thanks.

I just went to the page?http://us.creative.com/support/downl...ype=0&x=29&y=6and downloaded the Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 file after filling all the info out in the drop down menus. I just installed it and I was good to go. The only issue I really had was installing the application from the CD which I mentioned earlier. But the application from the website installed with no problem whatsoever. I wish I could tell you something that would help as I know your frustration. Are you sure you downloaded the correct version for ME?You might ask someone if you really need this application to put music on you device because it seems like your device just acts like another dri've and you can just drag and drop into your device. I'm not sure about that so ask st so it doesn't mess up you player.or you might be able to use some other apllication to transfer your files to the player?Good luck and be persistent,JoeMessage Edited by joenanoplus on 2-26-200608:3 AM

  • Zen Nano Plus - Connection Problems and Firmware Upgrade probl

Like many others posting on this forum, for a while I had problems trying to get my GB Zen Nano Plus to be recognized by the .0.03 Firmware Update software.
I eventually got it by doing this:
While the Firmware Update software was "Searching" for a device, I kept on unplugging and plugging in the Zen Nano Plus from the USB cable while holding down the Play button, unti it "caught". I tried this since I noticed it would initially see the unit saying "A device has been detected in recovery mode...", but then throw the unit into "non-recovery" mode and hence force the Firmware Update software to keep on searching.
Anyhoo, after it did finally "catch" it (after about 0 times unplugging/plugging while holding the Play button down), it showed my firmware as .03.02, and so I did the upgrade to .0.03. The upgrade said "Complete". I then take the unit off of USB, and put my battery back in. and. uhm. well. Now it won't turn on at all. *sigh*
So there I go again in the "unplug-plug" loop on trying to get the older .03.02. Finally caught after about 30 times (yes my hands are tired). And after downgrading to .03.02, putting the battery back in, the unit turns on fine.. WHEW.
So, beware to everyone. Not sure if I'd trust the .0.03 Firmware. Doesnt seem to work on my Zen Nano Plus, and I JUST bought the thing from Circuit City about a week ago.
And for those of you having problems getting the Firmware Upgrade to work.. try my (tiring) method.
I tried this on my Dell D600 laptop (actually used the USB ports on the docking station).

lcvdw wrote:Can you tell me what I am supposed to see if it is connected properly?
With your player connected and View, Devices by Connection selected in Device Manager navigate through as follows:
Advanced Config and Power Interface (ACPI) PC
    ->Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
    -->PCI Bus
You should then see a series of USB Host Controllers that you will have to click through in turn to find the one your player is connected to.
Underneath each controller should be a USB Hub, and then devices are listed beneath the hubs.
For my N200 I have USB Mass Storage Device, Creative MuVo N200 USB Device then Generic Volume.
Your entry should be similar but with Zen Nano Plus instead of N200.
While you're there, right-click on the entry for the hub attached to your player and select Properties. On the Power tab it will show how much current the port can supply and in the Attached Devices list it will show how much power the player needs. In my case the hub supplies 500mA and the player needs 00mA.

  • Zen Nano Plus can't see new so

I have a GB CL Zen Nano Plus with 208 (WMA) songs in 6 folders (352 MB space used). When I add new WMA songs, they show up on Windows Explorer File Manager but won't play on the MP3 player. When the MP3 player is unconnected to the computer, I can't even see them on the player. The WMAs are not protected; we tried WMP 9 and 0 to rip the music files from CD. Heard that updating the Firmware might fix, but wanted to be sure. Any suggestions?

There are too many folders on your player - the ZNP can only see a total of 60 folders including any that don't have any music directly in them such as Artist folders. Connect your player and use Windows Explorer to rearrange your player so it uses less folders. When you say that the files aren't protected are you sure? WMP rips CDs to protected files by default so check in Tools, Settings to switch off Copy Protected. PB

  • Zen Nano Plus - can't move music to it all of a sud

My daughter has had a Zen Nano Plus for about 4 months - no problems up to now. She wanted to put some new music on it, and no matter what we try, we get an error - Transfer error - an error has occurred while transferring this file. I've tried it using a variety of software as well as drag and drop. We just bought my other daughter the identical player, and I can move music to hers with no problem - so it's not the computer or the connection. Any ideas? The player works fine with the music that's on it. Any ideas, or is it RMA time? Thanks!

Hi. What sounds like the same problem has happened to me my first time using the player. It's basically behaving as if it's full, when there is over 6MB of free space left. I read a thread on Amazon (from where I bought the player) and apparently this is a common problem with the Zen nano plus, so Amazon can't/ won't replace players with this defect :-( Do any experts out there think that the response to this problem could fix my issue too? So from now on I should transfer files into folders, instead of trying to transfer 500 songs all in one go? Cheers!

  • Zen Nano Plus armband in Austra

    Hi all
I've spent a lot of time researching what mp3 player to buy. I eventually decided on the Zen Nano Plus due to it's size, features, good reviews, and being able to use the armband for running and gym work.
Until I discovered the armband is unavailable in Australia! According to the Creative website, the armband is a standard accessory included in the box if you li've in the US. In the UK, it is available from the website as an optional accessory. But it's not available at all in Australia.
Without starting a discussion on why Creative would market in this way, does anyone have any suggestions on how I might source an armband, with or without the player? I am happy to purchase from US websites, but I haven't come across any that will ship to Australia. Creative themselves certainly don't, neither the US or UK sho
    ps.
Does anyone know of an online US retailer that will ship to Australia? Does anyone have one that they don't want?
    Cheers

    Woohoo! Success, at last.
Found an Australian online retailer that ships to Australia (obviously). It looks like this mob has imported a stack of Zen Nano Plus's, complete with silicon case and armband.
    http://www.mp4store.com.au/category4_2/product222/product_info.html
I ordered late on Monday night and it was in my hands on Wednesday morning. About $255. And the best bit - available in orange! Most retailers only seem to stock black or white. Also in light blue or silver apparently.
Very happy, finally. Thanks to all for trying to help.
    Clowndogger - I hope you haven't switched to iri'ver!

  • 1GB Zen Nano Plus player stuck in Radio mo

I have a GB Zen Nano Plus player. I use it every day, have since I got it 2 yrs ago. It has the radio feature. I switched it to radio the other morning and now it won't switch back to my mp3 music. When I push in the scroller to go to the menu, it takes me to the Radio menu and locks up. Won't scroll up, won't scroll down, can't up or down the volume, can't even turn it off... I have to remove the battery for it to quit. I have no clue what's going on. I connected it to my computer and formatted it....didn't help. Went here online and got the firmware update drivers....didn't help. I can still load music onto and play it while it's hooked to my desktop, but I can't use it any other way than radio when I'm using it solo. Any ideas?

Make sure to reflash the firmware in recovery mode (see instructions on Creative's support website), and also let the updater format the data area. If that doesn't work it's probably a hardware failure, I'm afraid...

  • Zen Nano Plus -- "Cannot create file .

Why not?! I've been transferring & deleting songs since I bought the Zen Nano Plus and now all of a sudden, I can't place songs into it. Help please.

Have you put all of your files into the root folder?
If so, create a sub-folder and put your files in there. Then you will be able to fill up the player.
If not, have you tried reloading the firmware?
