Zooming In - Photoshop CS4 For Vista

Hello,
When I first opened CS4, I noticed that when I zoomed in on a picture, It showed all of the pixels in a seperate box. Now, I want to do that again for editing, but when I zoom up, the pixel boxes don't appear.
How can I make it do this again?
Thanks!

One last thing . . .
I am using two monitors. My secondary monitor has all my tools as far as layer panels, colors, swatches etc...
The main monitor has just the "artwork" area and main tools for the application.
Ok, I think I know what I want it to do. I would like the file to open to "Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar". Also, when I open another file, have them tabbed at the top.
Thanks again!

  • Photoshop CS4 for Mac What can cause the error: Plug-in failed to load - NO VERSION

With Photoshop CS4 for Mac I install the Kodak Plug-in DIGITAL GEM Airbrush Professional v2.1.0. When Photoshop starts I get an error:
    Plug-ins that failed to load:
DIGITAL GEM Airbrush Professional v2.1.0 NO VERSION -  - from the file “DigitalAIRProv2.plugin”Flash:
       Connections
       Kuler
This plug-in works fine on my Mac Pro with Photoshop CS4 and OS 10.6 but fails on a new Macbook Air.
Reinstalling the plug-in did not make any difference. What can cause this error?

Thanks Chris, That was my first thought too but this same plug-in works on another installation of CS4. This is a Mac installation and the plug-in is Universal so it should work. Is there any other possible cause for this error? Would Photoshop refuse to load a plug-in in a low memory situation?
Also, The Flash extensions:Connections and Kuler are working OK, I just copied a little more out of the System Info report than I needed to.

  • Problems with Photoshop cs4 for the Mac

I am having all kinds of problems with Photoshop CS4 for the Mac.  When I boot the software it seems to work for a while then, I am unable to open upf a file in Photoshop.  I drag a photoshop file over the application icon, the whole screen flickers and nothing happens.  I am unable to quit Photoshop as the quit choice is grayed out and command-q will not make it quit. I have to force quit.  I can repeat this pattern over and over.  What is happening?  How do I solve this problem?
    --Kenoli

Thanks for the reply.  I am using  Photoshop 11.0.1.  I am using the latest version of Snow Leopard.  I have found both Photoshop and Dreamweaver to be pretty buggy for several versions now.  My suspicions were that they were really engineered for Windows and never really fully implemented for the Mac.  Dreamweaver crashes or hangs on me three or four times a day if I us it all day and does various annoying things like refusing to respond to the delete key after I have used it for a while.  I have pretty much stopped using it to some degree for that reason and also because there is other software that does a lot of coding things I do much more directly and simply.  Also Dreamweaver always seems to struggle to quit when I tell it to quit (that is, it takes a long time and gets hung up at places before it quits) and once it does quit, I always get a message saying that it has unexpectedly quit (even when I have told it to quit).
The problems with Photoshop  (starting with just taking a long time to load)  have escalated to the point I described today, which makes it almost unusable. I just reinstalled Snow Leopard to see if there was anything buggy in the system software.  I will report if problems go away.
Regarding both the refusal to open image files and the grayed out quit command, made me think something like you, i.e. there was some dialogue box open somewhere.  However, I couldn't find anything and I don't use two monitors.
So . . . Adobe just seems to be getting more expensive and more buggy.
Incidentally, why is it still running in Rosetta rather than natively?  Adobe now has a real Intel processor to work with.

  • Photoshop CS4 on Vista not seeing 4 gigs of RAM

I am running Photoshop as part of the CS4 Suite on a bootcamped intel mac pro towers using Vista Business with 4 gigs of Memory. We are running in 32 bit mode because of the Apple screw up with Carbon 64 so that both sides of the house windows and mac match.
Photoshop is currently only seeing 1639 MB of the RAM instead of the performance on the Mac of about 3000 MB
So does anyone know what is going on here and how I can get Photoshop and or Vista to recognize most if not all of the RAM installed on these machines.
    Specs are below...
    Adobe Photoshop Version: 11.0 (11.0x20080919 [20080919.r.488 2008/09/19:02:00:00 cutoff; r branch])
    Operating System: Windows Vista 32-bit
    Version: 6.0 Service Pack 1
System architecture: Intel CPU Family:6, Model:7, Stepping:6 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2
    Physical processor count: 4
    Processor speed: 2793 MHz
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
    Video Mode: 1680 x 1050 x 4294967296 colors
    Video Card Driver: nvd3dum.dll,nvwgf2um.dll
    Driver Version: 7.15.11.8048
    Built-in memory: 2037 MB
    Free memory: 1178 MB
Memory available to Photoshop: 1640 MB
Memory used by Photoshop: 55 %
    Image cache levels: 4
    Application folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\
    Temporary file path: C:\Users\MGD\AppData\Local\Temp\
Photoshop scratch has async I/O enabled
    Scratch volume(s):
    C:\, 349.4G, 324.0G free
    Primary Plug-ins folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins\
    Additional Plug-ins folder: not set

While Jim's suggestion is the only solution to addressing all your system's memory, I am surprised you only have 2037 MB (built-in) memory. Perhaps you are running processes or have devices attached which are eating into your memory by as much as .5 MBs?
I also have 4GBs installed ram. Right off the top, Windows strips 1 GIG to reserve space for Video Cards and other devices. I lose another .5 MB to the system.
This is a well-known limitation of 32-bit systems and like Jim says, there is little to be done except to upgrade to Vista 64. You can remove devices and stop processes and services, but you'll not ever see . . . at very best . . . 3.5 GBs. (Well, you might by using the /PAE switch, but that is more risk than I'm willing to play with.)
This is what my system looks like:
Operating System: Windows Vista (Ultimate) 32-bit
    Version: 6.0 Service Pack 1
System architecture: Intel CPU Family:6, Model:7, Stepping:7 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2
    Physical processor count: 4
    Processor speed: 3666 MHz
    Video Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Video Card Renderer: GeForce GTX 280/PCI/SSE2
    OpenGL Drawing: Enabled.
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280
    Video Mode: 1920 x 1200 x 4294967296 colors
    Video Card Driver: nvd3dum.dll,nvwgf2um.dll
    Driver Version: 7.15.11.7740
    Built-in memory: 2557 MB
    Free memory: 1281 MB
Memory available to Photoshop: 1640 MB
Memory used by Photoshop: 60 %
    Image cache levels: 4
Thus far, I've not encountered any problem using a 32-bit version. That is partly because I've not done anything with PS or other applications which might cause problems. But, as I do more with the Master Suite I expect that situation to change. Then, I'll upgrade to Vista 64.
I'm kinda keeping my eyes and ears open about Windows 7. Unless I encounter performance problems, I'd rather wait for the next version. According to rumors, the earliest date would be the end of the year, if not early 2010.

  • HELP! Cursor problem in Photoshop CS4 on Vista laptop

i downloaded the trial version of Photoshop CS4, and as soon as i installed it i had this problem.
when i use the tablet, it would be fine and prefectly responsive
however, if i walk away from the laptop for about 20secs or more, i just cant seem to get any response on photoshop when i use the tablet
i am not sure what is the real cause of the problem but its a constant annoyance, and the only way i can solve it, is to exit photoshop, and start it up again.
only to have the same thing occur if i pause to do something else or alt+tab to check my email or whatever...
i can confirm that theres nothing wrong with my tablet as it works for my other programs like Manga Studio EX or MS paint(lol)
so i have NO idea why it is so buggy on Photoshop CS4.
photoshop and vista just doesnt seem to get along... last year i bought photoshop CS3, installed it on my laptop(vista) and...bam... it just couldnt work.
i guess ive learnt from my mistake and downloaded the trial version this time...
i would appreciate any reply to my question

i've uploaded a screenshot to try to help explain whats my problem :/
the left circle shows when i just opened PS, it works fine,
the right circle is the only type of response i can get after i come back to PS
and yes i am using ONLY the paint tool throughout.
incase you're wondering, yes... i restart photoshop everytime i have the problem to get this far... which is really fustrating...
    hoping anyone can help
oh and i wrote the blue stuff in MS paint btw, so it really isnt a problem with the tablet

  • Photoshop CS4 for Windows - Installing XP 64

I have heard that Photoshop CS4 is not meant to be used on XP 64 but has anyone here installed it successfully? Is it working?
I am trying to install it on my XP 64 PCs and no go. One of them gets pretty far into the installation process and conks out. The other (newer, faster PC) gets this error message when trying to fire up the Installer:
    File Access Denied
Both of these PCs are running AMD 64 bit MBs. The older one has 2 GB of RAM while the newer one has 8 GB of RAM.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. About ready to return the product ...

Thanks Bob for the heads up. I found this text about the release date of Win7:
    Q. What is the expected timeline for the availability of Windows 7?
    A. We are currently in the planning stages for Windows 7 and expect it will take approximately 3 years to develop. The specific release date will be determined once the company meets its quality bar for release.
    Q. Has Windows 7 been released to manufacturing?
    A. Were continuing to work with our partners on the development of Windows 7, and are not sharing any additional information at this time.
    Q. Is the schedule for Windows 7 being moved up due to poor Windows Vista sales?
    A. Were not sharing additional information on Windows 7 at this time. However, were confident that many organizations are recognizing the value in Windows Vista. Of note, sales of Windows Vista licenses have now passed 100 million. In addition, Windows Vista is being adopted by businesses at a rate that is similar to past releases. In the business market there are early, mainstream and late adopters, with the majority of businesses falling into the category of mainstream. Were seeing positive indicators that were already starting to move from the early adoption phase into the mainstream, and that more and more businesses are beginning their planning and deployment of Windows Vista.
You can read the full threaded version at:
    http://www.winvistaclub.com/i7.html
Doesn't sound like Windows 7 will be out anytime soon. Thus I may decide to downgrade my older system once I have finished installing all of my programs to my new PC. Or perhaps get a dual-bootable system for my new one.

  • 32-bit Photoshop CS4 on Vista won't start

I'm having a problem starting the 32-bit version of Photoshop CS4 running under Vista Home Premium.  I installed the patch (11.0.1) but it didn't help.
The problem I've having is when I start the program it indicates it's searching for plug-ins.  It does that for a while then stops responding.   This occurs only on the 32-bit version.  The 64-bit version works fine.
Has anyone had this problem and successfully resolved it?
    Thanks.

In the "start in" field it says "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\"
That's the same syntax used for the 64-bit version, which works.
I appreciate your help, but I don't think that's the issue either.  Also, I uninstalled CS3.  That didn't seem to help either.

  • I want to use my Photoshop CS4 for windows on my iMac.

I have tried the Adobe site, tried to phone ( no answers and then cut off), left messages...to no avail. How can I use my CS4 on my iMac - I am not inclined to spend ridiculous money on a new licence.
Thanks to anyone who can help me.
Adobe site and contacts extremely UNimpressive.

When you buy Photoshop, you are buying it for a single version, in a single language, on a single platform. If CS4 were still the current version, you could exchange your Windows version for a Mac version. But we no longer sell CS4. Even if you were to find a CS4 for Mac installation disk, your serial number would not work. But I may be able to help you. Send me your serial number: bnemecek [AT] adobe [DOT] com.

  • Error Code 148:3 - Photoshop CS4 for Windows

I have a message that comes up whenever I try to open Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended.
"Licensing for this product has stopped working.
This product has encountered a problem which requires that you restart your computer before it can be launched
If you continue to see this message after restarting your computer, please contact either your IT administrator or Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.
    Error 148:3
    http://www.adobe.com/support"
I restarted several times but I still get the error. How do I fix this?

wow...wssparky  thanks a TON. I got the adobe error today and it was driving me INSANE. I *think* the problem had to do with my having to disable all my startup stuff in Windows7 to fix a problem I was having updating some other Microsoft software. Anyway MS said  disable everything using the msconfig and it was after that when Adobe stopped functioning (my McAfee is having an issue as well) properly.
At any rate I got the adobe "fix" and it worked GREAT!
I was NOT having any luck to begin with by going to the support area at adobe.com (HEY ADOBE PEOPLE>> TAKE NOTE)
searching "support" for the error code tells me "Your search of Support for error 148:3 did not match any documents." which I find interesting
so I finally googled the error code and found this thread.
now a word to those who are less than kind in their posts and make people feel  stupid for asking the question here...I would submit these forums are for us (the users) to help each other (read: be nice to each other) so we can USE the software we OWN.
I'm frankly disappointed that going to the Adobe "SUPPORT" was fruitless. MY problem was with the CS4 suite: I own the master collection which wasn't exactly cheap....it wold be nice if I, as a customer was able to at least FIND Adobe's OWN error code on their support section.
    again... thanks to wssparky

  • Photoshop CS4 Extended    Vista

Customer Notes: Photoshop CS4 on 64 bit will only print a thumbnail, but on 32 bit it works fine.  Reinstalled drivers, no change.  print drivers are running from \windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\.  All other programs 32/64 bit print without issue.
    1) How exactly you are trying to print ?
File, Print, select 'scale to fit media', click print.
    2) Are you getting any Error Message, If yes than what is it?
    No.
    3) Which product & version are you using?
    Photoshop Extended 11.0.1
The print problem happens on every single file I try to print.File is attached in the case
    Case number: 181143264

What is the printer? If the printer was known maybe someone might chime in.
Xerox 7760 has a problem history found on google with PS CS4 Extended on Vista 64 bit that was never resolved.

  • Font not showing up in Photoshop CS4 for Windows

I have fonts that I've installed in both my Windows XP and Windows 7 PCs.  They show up in the Control Panel - Fonts and open, they show up in Word, but do not show up in Photoshop CS4.  I see in the CS4 Mac forums that there is a way to register a font in CS4, but I can find nothing on doing that on a Windows PC.  Can anyone help?

Adobe programs are sensitive to font issues, and one, the Titler in Premiere, is the most sensitive. This ARTICLE was written primarily for Titler, BUT translates to PS too. Often, a corrupt, or poorly-designed font will crash Titler, where that same font will usually just fail to display in PS, though it might cause hangs. Tracking down the problem font is outlined in the above article.
However, even if a font is not corrupt, or bad, it just might not display properly in some Adobe programs. I found that Isabelle and Isabella (two different fonts, with similar names) and from several foundaries, just do not display in Photoshop, or Illustrator. They do not crash the program, or cause a hang, but they obviously have an issue, and just will not display. They also do not crash Titler, but do not display.
Other fonts, such as the older DejaVu, installed with OpenOffice, would crash Titler. I do not have that font, but do understand that Oracle has rewritten it, so that it now works OK.
Good luck, and it could well be that your problem font(s) can be replaced by a better one, that has similar characteristics, or can be replaced by the same font, but from another foundary.

  • I ordered Photoshop CS4 for the wrong platform, what can I do?

I ordered Photoshop CS4 (upgrade) accidentally for Windows (I have a Mac).  I had the 30 day trial version so i was in no rush and it took me two weeks from the point of receiving to try and install it to then realize the mistake.  The past few weeks I have called adobe Customer service to see about swapping the windows copy for Mac but I cant get through to anyone.  I have called five separate times on different days.  Each time I spend at least a half hour on hold just to be hung up on, transfered to someone else and put on hold another half hour/or hung up on, or I just never get through to anyone and my patience eventually runs out.  Right now I have been on hold an hour and 56 minutes and I have not even talked to one person.  Another Time it was about 2 hours.  Customer service is horrible!
Am I wasting my time?  If I get through to someone competent will I be able to swap this for a Mac version?  With this customer service waste of time I have passed the 30 day window to try and return my software to the retailer.
    Please Help

  • Lightroom opens Photoshop CS4 for edit but file doesn't open

I have tried looking for this thread but have not found it... 447 threads are a lot to scan...
When I try to edit a Lightroom 2.3 file in Photoshop CS4 Extended, Photoshop launches but the file does not open (same for all other edit options: layers, pano, etc.) and the follows box appears in Lightroom: "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CS4 could not be launched"...
I have Windows XP Home Edition with SP3... over 3GB Ram... and all current Adobe updates...

Ah, now in that case this is where you'll find everything that you need to know, including access to the download. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4579
Having said that, with a Mac doesn't Camera Raw install automatically from within CS4 by choosing Update from within the Help menu?
Oh, and another thing. If you open CS4, go up to Help, from the drop-down choose About > Camera Raw. If it indicates 5.5 then the raw plug-in is already installed in the correct location. It won't show if it's not installed in the correct location.

  • Buying Photoshop CS4 for only $387.99? Legal?

    Hello,
A friend of mine wants to buy Photoshop CS4 Extended for Windows. He found a website (www.ztechsoftware.com) where it is sold for only  $387.99.
The website claims these are commercial licenses. Does anybody know if it really is and if the software being sold is legal?
I find it hard to believe that the software is sold legit for that price... Please help!

If you read the bad reviews for ZTech Software on ResellerRatings.com it
seems they may not be legit.
    http://www.resellerratings.com/store/ZTechSoftware#reviews
    (page 1, all positive reviews)
    http://www.resellerratings.com/seller22535-p2-s1-d1.html
    (page 2, some bad reviews)
Most of the reviews are good, but most are on the same day or within a few
days after the last bad review and this suggests that someone has entered
bogus good reviews to scroll the bad ones off to the second page.
