0.1mb speed suddenly! please help my BB speed has ...

2 months ago my broadband started dropping out for long periods every day.
i contacted bt they said there was a fault with their side of things, and engineer came and went. slightly better connections for a while, but speed terrible. i have now had engineer 3 times, and speed is now the slowest ever at under 0.15mb most of the time. i live in an area which is supposed to achieve 1-3mb, and have previously had 0.5-0.9mb which is fine for me, but 0.15 is not.
i can't even stream the online help videos suggested here on this site on ways to improve things here. 
i am getting VERY frustrated with technical support, they say they are doing something to the line and wait 2 days and all will be fine, this has now happened 4 times and i wait the time and no improvement occurs.

    Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Full Screen mode with all toolbars hidden.
    * Press F11 to toggle full screen mode (Firefox/File > Full Screen)
    If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
    Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" (Linux, Windows)
    * If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
    * If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

  • Why do my quicktime movies playback at double speed? Please help

    Hello all, this is my first post.
    For some reason all of the sudden my quicktime movies that are 2 months old or older playback at double speed although the sound plays back as normal. Any movies that are less than 2 months old are ok. All these videos have been taken with my digital cam which records files in mov. Also any of these files which i convert to flash also play back 2 time faster when i select the converted swf file. Please help as i have hundreds of files which are affeceted. Any new clips i record playback fine.
    Also I copied and pasted a problematic video on my wifes newer pc and the clip still has the same problem.

  • Please Help!  Photo Import has Suddenly Slowed to a Crawl -- 19 hours

    I have transferred 1,000s of RAW photo files to my HD and external HD with no problem, until a few days ago. Suddenly, what used to take about 3 hours now takes 19-24 hours. I can't figure it out.
    I've changed card readers, I've tried different memory cards, I've even downloaded to external HDs and tried to upload directly to my HD. I've also hooked up my camera and tried to transfer the files via a USB cable (traditionally the slowest way). I've also tried to upload using different software programs: Lightroom, iPhoto and Bridge.
    I've also ran the Disk Utility on my HD and there weren't any problems.
    Nothing works.
    Please help.

    If ran Disk Utility and only used +Repair Disk Permissions+, you may want to startup from another disk and run +Repair Disk+ (to look for and repair disk directory errors). If you don't have another bootable disk, you can startup from the Mac OS X (current version) installation disk. Insert disk and startup with the C key held down to start from the optical drive. When you get to the first Installer screen (after language selection), go up to the Utilities menu and select Disk Utility, then run +Repair Disk+ on your normal startup drive.
    Also, do you have sufficient free space on your hard drive? While you were move those 1000s of photo file around, did your startup drive ever get to less than 10GB free?

  • PLEASE HELP! SLOW SPEED FOR 5 WEEKS!

    Hey all, i've come here as a last resort as im sick of my slow infinity speed and sick to death with bt customer service which does not exist!
    Since before christmas my bt infinity package 1 38down/10up has been playing up after 12 midnight! usually after this time my speed would go down from 37download to around 0.5/0.1 soo low that i can't load a web page. Ive tried for weeks contacting bt which takes me to the offshore call centre where iv'e been fobbed of that an engineer is investigating an issue at the exchange or that the issue will be fixed in either 24, 36 or 48 hours numerous times to which it has not.
    This last week my internet speed has dropped during the day time where before in the day it was a solid 37down and 10 up it now goes down to 10 meg and now its gone down to 0.1 meg. It went down to 0.1 meg today at around 6.30pm.

    with that age of laptop we immediately suspect an issue with dust clogging the exhaust fan or the thermal compound between the heatsink and fan breaking down and needing to be replaced. The laptop needs to be opened and inspected in other words. 

  • Safari not responding all of a sudden please help!!

    Hi,
    Could someone please help me because I don't know whats going on. I've had the iphone 5 since Nov 2012 and everything has been working fine.
    All of a sudden on Tueday I was on the internet when it kept saying safari not responding. My wifi icon says I am connected. The weird thing is it will let me access the internet for maybe 5mins at the most then says not responding and it will maybe be half an hour before it'll let me on again, it might only let me on back online for 2 mins.
    I have cheked wi fi settings and it says I am connected. It isn't letting me access youtube either (only for 2/5 mins like safari). Everything else is working fine. I checked my router and my home pc is working fine also. I have turned it on and off and linked it to itunes online for updates but software is up to date.
    Even if my wi fi would sometimes loose signal in my house or outdoors I could still use safari through the 3G, I would run a tiny bit slower but not much. I am unable to access safari through the 3G also.
    I just don't have a clue what's going on and would appreciate any help anyone could offer!! Thanks for reading my long winded question lol

    I read a post on here last night about clearing cookies and data and history so I done that but today the problem still persists. I have it ticked to except cookies from visited sites. Should I untick this and select never?
    It never occured to me to change web browser, doh!! I shall try that now and see what happens? Should the browser have an impact on youtube app that comes already on iphone though as this is playing up to?

  • Extremely slow DSL speeds. Up speed higher than Down speed. Please help.

    I just purchased the 1.1 - 3.0Mbps hi-speed DSL package.
    Verizon speed test shows .17Mbps down and .536Mbps up. This is obviously curious for two reasons: 1) the incredibly slow down speed, and 2) the down speed being slower than the up speed. 
    Curiously, speedtest.net shows different results:
    2.45Mbps down, .55Mbps up
    What could this mean? Transceiver data follows.

    OK. It seems as though you're suffering from what some people call "Juniperitus." If you're on a Remote DSLAM that uses Alcatel Litespan equipment (Litespan 2000 for example) along with being connected to a Juniper Networks ERX edge router, there tends to be an incompatibility between the two pieces of equipment that causes TCP connections and pretty much any other form of transfer to see artificial packet loss, which results in transmission. This results in inefficiency in every transfer, so what you're seeing is simply a result of all of this. In the past when Verizon first installed Litespan, they were using older Redback Networks edge routers, which did not create such problems. I'm on a Litespan and happen to still be on a Redback in my area (one of remaining ones still in operation in my area) and I get my max line speed with no issue. It's unfortunate that these actually perform better despite the Junipers being far better edge routers in terms of capacity.
    I know someone who should be able to get this fixed for you. I'll send you a Private Message.

    1) Yesterday, I was listening to my ipod and changing the songs, when it suddenly the songs began changing on shuffle every second mid-song!
    2) Eventually it stopped, but then it really slowed down and would take about 5 seconds to react to me pressing the buttons or changing a song!
    3) Then today, after I had finished using it whilst running, the screen went completely blank, but the music was still working fine. The screen is now still blank, unless I tip it vertically and then I can just about make out an extremely faded outline of the wrting and page format. Also there now appears to be a white smudge/mark on one side of the screen!
    What is happening to my ipod and what can I do about these problems? I have had my ipod for only a couple of months!
    I would be very grateful of anyone could help!

    Everytime I go on itunes with my internet motem connected it shuts down my computer. It works fine if I have the internet off and no ipod plugged in, but as soon as i put my ipod in or use itunes with internet it shuts down and restarts my computer. I went to www.apple.com to see if i could just update the itunes and see if that works, but everytime i click on download itunes 9.2 it asks me to install it. Does this mean my old itunes with all my music will be erased??? please please help me. thanks

    You've got a problem with the drivers for your ATI Radeon video card. It's a bit odd to see that associated with being connected to the internet, but I've seen it cause blue screen crashes when an iPod is plugged in before.
    Did the video card come installed in the PC when you bought it? If so, head to the Sony website and check to see if they have any updated video drivers for your particular model of Vaio (and particular model of video card).
    If you've added the video card yourself to the Vaio, head to AMD and check to see if there's updated drivers there for your model of video card.
    If you're already up to date on the drivers, or updating the drivers doesn't help with the crash, try reinstalling the video drivers.
    Does updating or reinstalling the video card drivers help with the crashes?

    Run menu > sysdm.cpl > Advanced Tab > performance > select adjust for best performance > make sure you do not allow Windows to choose for you because your computer does not know whats best --- Make sure Enable Aero Peek is checked

    Hi -- I just opened iCal via the iCloud website on my MacBook Air.  My calendar data appeared for a flash, then disappeared -- now almost ALL of my calendar data is completely gone from the iCloud website.  I checked the calendar app on my iPhone 4 and the data is still there, so I turned on Airplane Mode on my phone hoping the blank calendar wouldn't sync to my phone that way.  My contacts seem to still be there.
    Please help -- where did the data go, and how can I get it back onto the iCloud website?  Thanks in advance!

    Thank you.  You may have been right about the server glitch.  After hours, literally, on the phone with Support trying to load the calendar from my phone, and finally giving up, my calendar on the website was magically restored 24 hours later. 
    I'm guessing I'm not the only one this happened to, and that they restored to an earlier version for me and whomever else's data was lost.  Pretty scary, actually -- and annoying!
