"0 computers are authorized to play content purchased with this apple id"

I can not sign in to facetime from my macbook pro; I found out on my itunes account the following: "0 computers are authorized to play content purchased with this apple id";  can someone help?  what should I do to fix this?

1. Use the Deauthorize All command documented in this article if you haven't done so in the past year.
2. Back the library up. While the Deauthorize All function won't affect it, other things can.

There is no list available from your end; aside from using the Deauthorize All function, you need to access a computer individually, either physically or through Virtual Network Computing, to authorize or deauthorize it.

  • "One machine is authorized to play music purchased with this account"

    Hey Guys,
I just made my Apple ID my iTunes account, and I just reviewed the account info. For some reason it says: "One machine is authorized to play music purchased with this account"
I thought up to five computers are authorized to play music downloaded from iTunes?
Did I do something wrong, is this normal?

Up to 5 can be authorized but you have only authorized 1 machine.
If you have another machine you want to authorize, fire up iTunes on it and authorize it. You don't need to authorize it unless you have iTunes purchases on it.

  • How do I determine what 4 computers are authorized to download content from my account?

How do I determine what 4 computers are authorized to download content from my account?  I need to manage what computers are authorized.

You can only see a count of how many computers are authorised, you can't see a list of them. If the computers are also associated to your account (e.g. you've used iTunes Match, automatic downloads, or redownloaded past purchases on them) then they might also show in the 'manage devices' section of your account on your computer's iTunes (Store > View Account menu option): Manage your associated devices in iTunes - Apple Support
You can also, once every 12 months, log into account on your computer's iTunes (Store > View Account) and deauthorise all computers and then reauthorise the computers (which you can only do directly on them) that you still have and need.

  • Can Apple TV play content purchased with two different Apple IDs (but on one computer)?

I have one iMac with content in my iTunes from two different Apple IDs. All of this content is perfectly accessible on my computer. Before I ran the most recent software upgrade on my Apple TV 2, I was able to access all of this content (from both Apple IDs) through Home Sharing. Now it shows me all of the content, but skips over any of the songs that were purchased with one of the Apple IDs. It doesn't show an error message--it just won't play the songs. Is there any way around this? I haven't seen a thread that directly relates to this--most threads I have seen discuss two separate computers, each with different Apple IDs. Any help would be much appreciated.

I've tried everything..unplugging and re-setting the Apple TV, restoring to factory settings and starting over...nothing seems to work. I'm not sure why the software upgrade would have affected it, but that's what triggered this problem. It doesn't seem right that if it's accessible on my computer and it's all music purchased by me, that it's not all accessible on my Apple TV!

  • Unable to play files purchased with prior Apple ID

I have been an iTunes customer for many years and have purchased tracks using two different email addresses as my Apple ID. My original Apple ID information was updated with my current email address. It was not created as a second account. When I view my purchase history from the support page all of the tracks I have purchased with either email address appear in the list. However, any track I purchased with the older email address will not play. iTunes skips through these tracks immediately but DOES increment the play count. I do not receive an error message of any kind. What do I need to do to fix this?

If you purchased music from 2 accounts, you need to authorise both accounts on your PC.
If that's not it try contacting customer service:

  • HT1420 why does my computer tell me i have maxed out on authorizations when none (NONE!) of my devices are authorized to play anything, I bought this music fair and square it would be nice if i could listen to it.

I've done the deauthorize schpiel in the "store" menu, which tells me I have 5 whole authorizations left, when I go to play a song that has been downloaded by itunes, it tells me I need to authorize...so i click "authorize" then I am informed I have no authorizations left. This has been goin on for years. Essentially itunes takes my money and then doesn't let me listen to songs. This only happens when accessed from my computer, if i buy it on my iphone, i can listen to it on my iphone....anyway, yeah...annoyed.

Well, I imagine this has been years, as iTS hasn't sold DRM music since what... 2009?

  • How can you see what computers are authorized with my account?

Good afternoon. I installed iTunes on my desktop computer at home because I began creating a music library. My first original install was on my laptop and then I decided to add iTunes to my desktop. When I authorized iTunes on my desktop it said it was the third computer that is authorized to play content purchased with this Apple ID.
How do I find out where else I have authorized iTunes? Is there a way in which a person can find out? Does my iTouch count as one?
If I rest the computers authorization will it delete my music library if I did that? I know you can only do it once a year. I am afraid someone else will use my account.
    Thank You

In order to see which devices are authorized on your account:
    Open iTunes
    Click Store
    Click Account
    Click View Account
    Enter your password
Look in the second section iTunes in the Cloud
To the far right you'll see Manage Devices
Once it's clicked you will see all of the devices currently authorized in iTunes/on your account
I was going to say, "Hope this helps," but based on the above, I'm pretty sure it did!
    Thanks guys...

  • Playing music purchased with apple id from closed email account

i can't play music purchased with an apple id from another email account that no longer exists
    Please Help!!!

Is it an old Apple ID of yours? If so, then whether the email is still valid or not, the Apple ID is still there. You need to authorize that ID to your computer by signing it onto iTunes and then clicking on Store on the top menu, then Authorize this computer.
If you don't remember the password to that old ID, you can change it here: Apple - My Apple ID
If you don't remember your Security Questions, you can have them reset by iTunes Support:

  • I purchased a song on my iMac on iTunes and it plays on that but won't play on my macbook even though both computers are authorized under the same iTunes account.  how do I fix this?

I purchased a song on my iMac on iTunes and it plays on that but won't play on my macbook even though both computers are authorized under the same iTunes account.  It says that i have to authorize my macbook and sign into iTunes, but then says its already authorized.  How do I fix this?

    Hi stuartbonk,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  Here are some steps you can try if you keep getting asked to authorize your MacBook for iTunes:
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203160
If you authorize your computer to play your iTunes Store purchases, but you can't play them and iTunes keeps prompting you to authorize, try these suggestions.
Authorize your purchases from an administrator account
To authorize your purchases from an administrator account, follow these steps:
Log in to the administrator account.
Note: If you don't have access to an administrator password, you'll need to contact the administrator of this computer. If this is a work computer, this may be your IT department.
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed. You can download the latest version free.
    Choose Store > Authorize Computer.
Enter your iTunes account name and password.
Note: If you have multiple accounts, you'll need to log in to the iTunes Store and authorize each account separately.
    Quit iTunes.
After you've authorized your computer on your administrator account, you'll need to log out and log back in to the user account you'd like to play your purchases from. Once you're logged back in, simply open iTunes, select an iTunes Store purchase in your library, and click Play. The item should begin to play.Authorize using the correct account name
The items you're trying to play might have been purchased using a different iTunes Store account. To determine which account was used to purchase an item, follow these steps:
Select a purchased song in your library and choose File > Get Info.
Click the Summary tab. Note the Account Name that appears in the list. This is the account name (Apple ID) you'll need to use when authorizing your computer to play this purchase.
Note: The account name that appears is the one you used when purchasing the item and does not change if the account name (Apple ID) changes.
If you've authorized the Apple ID that is shown in the Summary tab, you can check the purchase history for that Apple ID from Store > View My Account. If your purchase history does not reflect the purchase of the items in your iTunes library, consider any other Apple ID you may have created, and authorize the computer for your additional Apple ID.
If you forgot the password to one of your accounts, you can recover it using Apple's password-recovery website.Remove the SC Info folderIf you're still unable to authorize your computer to play your purchases, you may be able to resolve your issue by removing the "SC Info" folder. To do so, follow these steps:
    OS X
Quit iTunes and any other open applications until only Finder is open.
Choose Go > Go to Folder.
Type /Users/Shared/SC Info and click Go.
If Finder is not already set to column view, set it by choosing View > as Columns.
Select the SC Info folder and move it to the Trash by choosing File > Move to Trash.
Restart the computer and open iTunes.
Authorize your computer to play your purchases. Note: If you have multiple accounts you'll need to authorize your computer for each account. For more information on how to authorize your computer, see this article.
