0 quantity in item category of delivery

Dear All,
I would like to know the definition of "check quanttiy  0" in item category of delivery.
There is 4 options
   No dialog
A Note about the situation
B dismiss situation with error message in create / change mode
C dismiss situation with error message only in create mode.
I set C to control the delivery with 0 quantity , but  the delivery document still can be saved with Zero quantity
Cloud someone tell the what the problem?Thank you very much!
Regards,
Sophia

hello, sophia.
the default SAP settings in check quantity 0 for item category is blank.  that means you can create an order for a material even if this is not available in the inventory at that time.  when this is the case, you create an outbound delivery, save it and the system generates a document number.  however, for materials with relevance to inventory, you cannot view this document even if a document number is assigned to it, precisely because the delivery does not contain anything.
this setting is alright for text items, but could be problematic when you are using item category TAN.  the system gives you other options, as follow:
A - Note about the situation (warning only, and you can still save the document with an assigned number)
B - dismiss the situation with error message in create/change mode
C - dismiss the situation with error message in create mode
with either B or C, you will still be able to create delivery with 0 quantity, but you will not be able to save it.  i usually enter 'B' for item category TAN to avoid needlessly saving a document i cannot see later on.
regards.

  • Change item category in delivery order

    Hi everyone
Issue: Can not change item category in delivery order.
    Phenomenon:
1:Create purchase order and receive item based on it. complete invoice verification.
2:Use MIGO to create return delivery based on material document that is created during above process.
3:Based on system settings, (Sales org, ship-to party etc), outbound delivery is automatically created in background.
4:Try to change item category which is already determined during delivery order creation, but it is grayed out.
Can we change item category in this situation?
I have checked thread "Number of attempts to change Item Category
This looks same issue but I still do not know how to control item category in delivery order.
In material type, is there any place I can configure to allow user to change item category
    in delivery order?
    Please advise.

    Hi
My client having delivery related billing and order related billing. For we have maintain only one billling document (order related and delivery related).
What is the meaning of this statement ?
Say in a single order or order type  say OR there can be two materials with different item categories say TAN and ZTAN and
TAN with billing relevance as A( delivery related billing) and ZTAN with billing relevance as B (order related billing )
If that happens the billing will be split
In VOV8 we mention for OR the order related billing as F1 and delivery related billing as F2 in the billing tab
Now in billing TAN will pick F2 as it is delivery related billing
    and
ZTAN will pick F1 as it is order related billing
Suppose in your sales doc type if you have mentioned both as F2 then also there will a billing split  in billing there will be two F2 invoices TAN will pick one  F2 invoice and ZTAN will pick another F2 invoice and this is a wrong way of doing things
I have a item category in the sales order Zo09 for this item category system allowing the user to create both billing documents(order and delivery related) Please advise how i can stop the users to create delivery related and order related
How can one item category can pick both  order related and delivery related billing?
Not at all possible in SAP as we can mention only one control in the billing relevance field in item cat
Your issue needs more clarity  about your problem for suggesting some suitable help

  • Difference between full and target quantity in iteme category

What is the difference between Target quantity and Full quantity in Completion rule in Item Catergory customization?

    hi
full quantity is used for quotations
    target quantity for contracts
    Completion rules
An item may be considered fully referenced if one of the following criteria have been met
An item is complete as soon as it is used as a reference. In this case, the item is fully referenced, even if only a part of the quantity is copied.
An item is only complete once the full quantity has been copied into a subsequent document. If the item is partially referenced, it is possible to enter several sales documents for the item until the quantity is fully accounted for.
An item is only complete once the target quantity (in a contract, for example) has been copied into a subsequent document. If the item is partially referenced, it is possible to enter several sales documents for the item until the quantity is fully accounted for.
The standard version of the system defines an inquiry item as complete even if only one part of the inquiry quantity has been copied into a quotation. On the other hand, when you copy a quotation into a sales order, the quotation is not complete until the quotation quantity has been fully referenced.
Contracts, like quotations, are only considered complete once the full target quantity of the contract has been released.

  • Sales & Delivery item category

    Hi Experts,
Sales item category and Delivery item category have same names. My question is whether the delivery item category is the same as sales order item category.
    Thank you

    Hi Duncan,
There is difference between sales order itemcategory and delivery itemcategory.
For example if you take TAN itemctegory in both areas(Sales document and delivery) we can identify different control in each place.
In Sales order TAN these are controls
    Transaction VOV7
    Bussiness data
    General control
    Transaction floe
    Bill of material/Configuration
    Value contract
    Service management
Control of resource-related billing and Creation of Quotation
In Delivery TAN these are the controls
    Transaction OVLP
    Document category--J-delivery
    Material/Statistics
    Quantity
    Wear house control and packing
    Transaction flow.
I hope it will help you,

  • Why item category re-determined at delivery level

    Hi Gurus
I want to know what is the purpose of redetermining item category at delivery level?

First thing to know is that Item Category determination is used only on newly added items and other specific usages like batches, product substitution, etc. It is meant for Deliveries that are not created with reference to a sales order. If you are copying an item from the order and the item category is configured as a Delivery Item category in 0lvp, SAP copies the order item category and does not redetermine it from configuration.
If you are using Product Substitution in the delivery, SAP first copies the higher level item from the Sales Order, then executes Material Determination to bring in the substitution (lower level) items. In this case the higher level item category would be from the order. Redetermined BOMs would follow the same logic as Product substitution.
In short you can redetermine items in delivery when you are using product substitution or add new Items in delivery or using Sales BOMs.
Hope its clear to you now.

  • ATP Check on/off at delivery item category

    Hello All
I see that delivery item category unlike sales item category, has a control for availability check (=on/off)
    - What is the purpose of this control if I can control the check at check instructions for delivery
    - What happens if the check instructions for delivery says no check and delivery item category says av check on
    - What happens if the check instruction say product availability check is on and item category says off
    - What happens if the check instruction say product availability check is on and SOME item categories says av check= off
No I am testing it out as I ask this but I am unable to see the actual purpose of this control at item category in delivery.
    Your replies would be appreciated
    Guru Gulab

    Hi Michael,
Sorry I needed to revisit this to confirm a point that I am missing to see. Apologies for repeating my question this time with an example.
    This is what is observed
Current ATP qty check rule A - 125
Current ATP qty check rule B- 90 (different check control to sales order)
    A)
Sales order - 050/A check instructions - PAC check = no check, Alloc check = no check
    Request qty- 100, confirmed 100  - understood
    B)
Delivery - 050/B check instructions - PAC check ON, Alloc check = no check
Delivery item category Av check OFF
    Confirmed 100
    C)
Delivery - 050/B check instructions - PAC check ON, Alloc check = no check
Delivery item category Av check ON
    Confired qty - 90
Does this mean that to create delivery for 100, I MUST set delivery item cat av check = no avl check ?. Wont check instruction 050/B= OFF do the same result as B)  above.  I observe so.
So what is the special role of delivery item category av check parameter. You mentioned that sales order uses the delivery item category setting for Av check. How does the sales order know the delivery item category until delivery is created.

  • Item category in billing document

    Hi,
Could someone please let me know the main purpose of ite category in billing document. Also, what is the use of having pricing in the delivery document.

    Hi
Could someone please let me know the main purpose of item category in billing document.
Item category in billing document is for information only
Like Item category in sales order ( T Code VOV7) Item category in delivery ( T code ZERO VLP) the Item category in billing document doesnot have any control functions
Upto billing Item category has control functions but not in billing or after billing
what is the use of having pricing in the delivery document.
There can be some scenarios where a freight cost is calculated from delivery document not in sales order
For such scenarios we configure a PP with additional condition types and assign in the delivery doc type so that at delivery we get price
What i have said is one vague example like that there can be different requirements to be picked in delivery

  • TO confirmation error - item category not defined

    Hi experts,
We have a HU/WM setup in our warehouse. While i try to confirm the TO i am getting an error 'item category not defined'?
I am able to confirm the TO's for other orders, this is happenning for a specific group of orders which have a different item category in delivery.
Any hints when this error will appear?
Is there any config where we assign the delivery item category with the warehose or any other setting?
    Thanks,
    Harish

I suggest have a look at OSS note 1464539 - your settings in table T184L might be wrong.
Is it possible that the batch is determined via WM, during picking? If different batches have been determined for one item, it will cause batch split in your delivery - if settings in T184L are wrong, system cannot cope with it and may throw error message VL324.
(sorry for duplicate, I was slow a little bit and "Sap: IN" said the same in the meanwhile)

  • Sales order item quantity is not copied to delivery order quantity

    hi,
i am trying to make a delivery order w.r.t. sales order which have 10 quantity for a certian material. when i create it, all the data on sales order is copied to the delivery order automatically EXCEPT the material quantity which was 10. it was working perfect and i dont know what mistake i made. is there any way out?
    thanks

    Hi,
While creating delivery, r u getting the following error..
An item with no delivery quantity is not permitted. Item will be deleted.
If so, you are maintainig picking location determination for that particular plant and shipping point combination.
    i.e.,
in OVL3 , for ur plant , Shipping point, Storage condition(Taken from Material master- Plant/Stor1 View)
you will be maintaining some storage location.
But for that storage location, you do not maintain a stock..
If you specify the storage location in sale order, the error won't come..
Otherwise add stock to the storage location assigned in OVL3..
    It'll work..
I have also got the same error..
Hope it may be useful to you..
    Thanks & Regards,

  • I/B Delivery item category

    Hi Experts,
I have a question on I/B Delivery item category determination. I have gone through lot of threads and didn't meet my specific question.
During creation of I/B Delivery against PO, System determines one item category by default. I want to overwrite during creation of I/B Delivery. But dont know how.
I have added my new item category ZLN as alternative item category in OVLP.
Which user exit i can use to flip this value?
    Thank you
    Kris

    Hello Kris
    Try BADI
    IF_EX_LE_SHP_DELIVERY_PROC
    Method
    CHANGE_DELIVERY_ITEM
    or
    FILL_DELIVERY_ITEM.
You will find documentation against the IMG activity itself"
    SPRO/IMG/Logistics Execution/Shipping/System Modifications/Business Add-Ins in Shipping/Business Add-In for Delivery Processing
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

  • Does item category TAS allow to create Outbound delivery doc?

    Hi experts,
I have a problem with the delivery creation.  The scenario is:
Our vendor missed to deliver a part to us. Say for example he missed to delivery the screw (used to adjust the time) in the wrist watch. This part is supposed to be assembled together with the wrist watch & delivered to our customer.
Now we need to deliver this missed part to our customer. The initial watch has been shipped to the customer without the screw. But the cost of the screw is already included in the total cost of the watch.
Now the vendor is going to send us this screw.  So my requirement is to create a subsequent free of charge kind of sales order that triggers a PR to the vendor & once this PR is converted to PO, on the PO
the Free Item will be ticked as the Vendor charged us for the whole wrist watch. This is also a kind of subsequent free of charge delivery by the vendor.
When I use item category TAS it does generates the PR & I converted this to a PO to this vendor. I also did the GR for this PO.  But when I create outbound delivery for this subsequent free of charge sales order,
it says the item is not relevant for delivery.
Could you tell me how to handle this situation & what item category to use which will allow me to create
Outbound delivery so that I can proceed to post goods issue & create 0 dollar invoice?
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Pri

Check the item category configuration for TAS. It does not have the tick for 'Item relevance for delivery'.
This can be seen in the following path:
IMG > Sales and distribution > Sales > Sales documents > Sales document item > Maintain item categories.
The idea of having a 3rd party sale (with item category TAS) is that the item is directly delivered from your vendor to customer. When you perform goods receipt of the PO, it will not ask for a storage location, since the product does not enter the plant premises.
This is a one step method to dispatch goods directly. Hence the outbound delivery is not required once GR is done.  The next step is to enter a vendor invoice followed by customer billing document.
If you check the accounting part of the GR material document it will be
    Cost of goods sold DR
    GR/IR clearing account CR
However, in your case, since the material is a FOC, there should not be an accounting document, and hence no vendor invoice verification / customer billing.
In standard, the item category TAS is relevant for billing. Hence if you do not require billing (being FOC), I suggest you use another item category (a copy of TAS) without billing relevance. I guess everything else should fall in place.

    Aroop

  • Delivery Output determiantion using Delivery type & Item category

    Dear all,
I am facing a problem while triggering output using Delivery type/Item Category access in access sequence xyz. I have maintained the condition record for this access and did all the necessary customization settings.
When i maintain the condition record for other access in Access sequence xyz the out put is being triggered.
After some analysis i found that the Delivery type/Item category is using different communication structures.
ie. Delivery type is using KOMKBV2-LFART. where as Item Category is using KOMPBV2-PSTYV. The output is a header output.
can any one explain the problem here in maintaining different comm structures for an access for generating header output.
Thanks in advance for your inputs.
    Best Regards
    Satish

    Hi,
You mean to say its not triggering the output automatically.....
If that is the case then goto the condition type in IMG and in tab "default values" make the dispatch time as "send immediately when saving the application" this will automatically triggers the output based on the condition records.....

No Item category exists (Table T184 ZNL 0001 V )

    Hi
This is the assignment you have made
    ZNL NORM V ZNLN
    ZNL NORM CHSP ZNLN
I believe, you have entered the Item Category in the column immediately next to Usage colum. Leave that field blank and place the item category in the colum second to Usage column and try.
    Thanks,
