0 songs on my synced ipod

Only a novice Ipod gen 4 user and was trying to figure out how to build a library. After figuring this out and trying to re-sync my ipod, I get the msg,"Ipod Sync Complete, but there are 0 songs on my ipd even though I have 37 albums.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

I am having the same problem. Newest version of itunes installed last night. When I plugged in my ipod to update podcasts, I was instructed to restore my ipod nano (4th gen) because of an error. When I did that, my ipod syncs but there are 0 songs. Every time I plug in to computer more of "other" is filled so that by the fourth time I had "no room for music" yet there are still 0 songs. Only the album art is on the ipod. Is it related to this latest version of itunes? (9.0.3.15)

  • Songs missing after syncing iPod

The title of this post is a bit of a simplification of various problems I seem to be having with iTunes. The story is as follows:
1 I run ivolume periodically to equalise sound levels. However the last time I ran it it quit unexpectedly and I subsequently found that a song file wouldn't play. After I deleted this file then the next one in the library wouldn't play.
2 After repeating this process a few times, I decided instead to delete my entire iTunes library, wipe the disk partition it sits on completely clean and restore a fresh iTunes music folder from a backup
3 After doing this normal service was resumed
4 However when I synced my iPod for the first time after doing this, only about 700 of my 1000+ songs appeared on the iPod and back in my iTunes library. Plus I got a message post-syncing about 'not being able to write to the disk' (I think that's what it was.) I couldn't see any of the missing songs in the underlying file structure in my iTunes music folder so presumed them missing
5 I was about to restore my library from backup again but upgraded to iTunes 7.3 first. This had the effect of restoring all my songs back into my library (presumably because the new software reorganised or replaced the library file?)
So now everything is back to normal except that, after a fresh back up, my backup programme reported that the DS store file for some of my songs couldn't be backed up due to errors.
I now want to re-sync my iPod and am planning to restore the iPod first to its factory settings in order to try to avoid my songs going missing again.
But -before I do- does anyone have any ideas about what might be going on? And whether I should be doing anythng else? And are the DS store files a problem?

It sounds like you the MacBook Air was not your syncing computer. You can only sync with one iTunes library/computer but you can manage music and videos manually among different computers/libraries.To do that
go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If you have failed to bakup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

Copy the music from Nano to computer by:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device: Apple Support Communities
Then just sync to the new device

  • My ipod touch 4g is not showing my songs after it syncs w/itunes

    hi there,
i have an ipod touch 4g as a gift recently. i downloaded the newest version of itunes from the internet. i transferred my songs from my computer to itunes music library. when i sync-ed my ipod touch to my itunes library, it doesn't show Any of my songs that i have in my itunes music library. None of my songs are listed on my ipod touch under "music," whether it be "recently added" or any of the other categories.
also, when i sync-ed, it gave me an error message that few of the songs cannot be sync-ed because the lyrics are not available or something like that. i don't think i did anything wrong when i sync-ed. the computer recognized my ipod touch when i connected it to the usb port of my computer n it opened up the itunes window n sync-ed right away as well. but, for some reason, my ipod touch still doesn't have any of my songs that i have in my itunes library.
can someone pls tell me what i need to do or what have i not done yet? please help...desperately seeking help for my ipod touch to be able to download/sync my songs as it shows on my itunes music library.
any help is greatly appreciated. looking forward to anyone's help. thank you sooo much.

    hi kobito,
thanks for your reply but i don't understand what u mean by zone alarm? where would that be on my computer? also, i tried changing the language but the music is still not there at all. last but not least, what is the purpose of having my antivirus software disabled prior to syncing? i didn't understand that question.
till now i still haven't been able to get my music on my ipod touch. this is really frustrating and upsetting. all i get is my podcast and that is it; no music/songs whatsoever...:-(
pls help if u can give me more details how to do it the right way. thanks again for your help.

  • Song order sometimes changes when I sync iPod to iTunes

Hi, I have a problem when syncing my iPod Video 30GB (software version 1.2, I think, it's the latest one anyway) to iTunes (version 7).
After completed sync, for some albums, the song order on the iPod does not match the song order in iTunes. Of course, I want the songs of the albums to appear in the correct order on the iPod.
Please note that all my "shuffle/random" settings are off.
One thing I have noticed is that if I uncheck a song in iTunes, a song that has already been synced into the iPod once, the song is not erased from the iPod after new sync. Instead, it appers before the first song of the album, which is a bit irritating. But my problem is larger that this; the reordering of songs also happens with albums for which I haven't unchecked any songs in iTunes.

More background. When I export my iTunes library to an xml file, and view the file in a text editor, I see that the tracks that appear in the wrong order on the iPod are in the correct order in the xml file, with the correct track numbers. On the way to the iPod, something weird happens.
Would be great if someone could take a shot at this.

  • IPod touch won't update, certain songs won't sync...I'm even trying to restore my iPod and that won't even work. Help!

So I have an iPod 4th generation. I've been having problems downloading certain songs...I download my songs from youtube converter and all my other songs I have synced just fine. But there are about 10 songs that won't download, yes I have tried to convert them to AAC or whatever that is,and it seems like that won't work either. I thought maybe it isn't working because I haven't updated my iPod from 4.3.2 to 4.3.3,I try updating and it tells me Error, this ipod could not be updated error 3194...I ask around for questions as to why that isn't working and they tell me to restore. I try to restore on my computer and I get ANOTHER message saying This iPod cannot be restored error 3194.
Yes I've reinstalled iTunes and everything else.
Yes I've tried restoring and updating for a different computer but on the other computer it couldn't detect my iPod...
I'm having sooo many problems...help! I really do like my iPod touch but it seems to have a lot of problems

  • Sync ipod doesn't work if songs on network drive

To consolidate redundant files, I moved MP3s from 3 computers on our home network to a shared network drive. (It's on a NAS.) I used WMP to edit the ID3 tags. All users have access to \\nas1\public\music as a mapped drive, M:. I deleted my kids' iTunes folders from each computer and re-imported all music from the network location, not copying files.
    Two problems result:
    1. Importing does not import the album art. That must be restored manually by copying the jpeg file from the folder on the network drive. That's a lot of work. I surmise that WMP copies the album art as a separate file and displays it if in the same directory, while iTunes requires a reference in the id3 file itself. Am I correct? (The latter seems a better design.)
    2. My kids' iPods won't sync to their local computers, even though iTunes plays fine. Will iTunes sync only if the file is stored physically in the library? Doing so replicates everything resulting in massive file duplication.
Another question, related to 2., above:
If I were to set up a network media server that's discoverable by iTunes (most likely Firefly, http://www.fireflymediaserver.org), can mp3's available there be synced to the ipods?
    Thanks in advance.

Right click the filename that won't download and selsct 'Get Info'. Look at the file path, does it have a //?// in it? That is a problem with Amazon downloads that prevent iTunes from finding the file. Use 'Add Folder' to add the album to your library and try syncing it again

  • My Library has ten more songs than my iPod. How can I find out which songs are not syncing?

My Library has ten more songs than my iPod. How can I find out which songs are not syncing?
I recently had to purchase a new hard drive. Because the size of my music collection exceeds 140 GB, I stored all of my music on a separate external hard drive. When I exported everything back into my new iTunes library, I found that I had about 200 more songs than I had in the previous library. After deleting most of those extraneous songs, I was able to get my library close to where it was before. However, after syncing to my iPod Classic, I noticed that only 34,853 of the 34,863 loaded. How can I figure out which of those ten songs in my library did not sync to my iPod?
    Yellow12

It may be that the 10 songs are unchecked. To find them select songs view.
If there is a column Heading marked with a tick then click on it to sort by this column.
If the Column is not there then View > View Options and select the Checked column which will then display
Check the songs by putting ticks in the empty boxes and resynch. Now those tracks should go over as well
