01034 Error

When I open OEM or application software, the error message appeared: 01034: Oracle not available.
What is the reason and how to solve it?
Thanks.

Hi I use dbstart and I get back a response (LINUX) that
Database "MDS" warm started.
However I cannot login I keep getting this "1034 ORACLE NOT AVAILABLE" error
Are there any log files I can check to see why this is happening

Hi,
ORA-1034 means that the database is shutdown and not accessible.
the Oracle database u have seems to be shutting down because of DBWR process failing and stopping because of error 27061.
If this is a unix box you can check by ps -ef|grep ora_ to see if the Oracle background processes are running.
For NT , you can check if the service is running in the CONTROL PANEL-> SERVICES applet.
Check what is causing the DBWR error.once that is resolved, the other problem should not occur.
Hope this helps<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

  • ORA-01034 : Error when the DB Server changed domains

I've just moved our Primary DB Server(Win2000 AS/ Oracle 8.1.7) from domain "V" to a new domain("X") I build for our developers. It is still the same user("V" domain administrator) logging in but now when people try to connect they get a ORA-01034 error. I've checked and all users are members of ORA_DBA. If I switch it back to the old domain("V"), the problem goes away.
    P.S. V & X are a full trust relationship.

    Hi
Quick and dirty over view...You really need to read the
    documentation.
Step 1. Prepare the init.ora file for the database...Read the
    docs.
Step 2. Decide what to name your database and do so in init.ora.
Step 3. Prepare th sql to create the database.
Step 4. Now go to svrmgr and connect internal and starup the
    instance.
Step 5. Create the database. A lot to do here...Read the docs.
Step 6. Now create users(schemas), tables, views, etc...

  • Database connection error ORA-01034 oracle not available

    Hi
Can some one help me out from this probs. I have a oracle8.15 enterprize edition running on solaris 5.6. It's been running fine since few months from deffent clients. But today its giving ORA-01034 error when i try to connect to database from cliend side. I found that database is up and running and we can access it on server. But from client i am getting the above error. Oracle documentation shows " The operating system variable pointing to the instance is improperly defined".
I would aprreciate if some body helps out of this problem.
    Thanks in advance
    K. Srinivas

    Hi,
Oracle uses the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID variables to create a unique shared memory hash key for each instance.
This problem can happen if your environment variables are set differently when the database is started compared to the user who is getting the error. The error indicates that the executable (sqlplus, svrmgrl) can't find the shared memory segment, which means that the ORACLE_HOME variable is not set correctly somewhere.

  • Oracle Not Available Error

    Hi Everyone,
I have properly Installed Oracle 8.1.7 (Standard Edition) On
    Windows 2000 with
    2GB RAM.
When I start to create database using Database Configuration
    assistant after 3% I am
Getting ORA-01034 Error. I did reinstalled once again ,the same
message comes up again. May I know why? help me please?
    Ramu

    Hi Ramu,
Try this, what happens tell me (definitely it will work) through mail to this ID: [email protected]
    1. GO TO THE "svrmgrl" file (in a 'BIN' file - do a search for files if not sure where it is). Double-click on it and a dos_style prompt will open. Type "connect internal" (without the quotes!) and press enter. Then type "startup open". Then wait a short while and the database will be opened. You will then be able to connect to sql, etc without getting this error. It is a good idea to copy this file onto your desktop as a shortcut so that when you boot/restart you can access it straight away.

  • ORA-01034 creating new database with Oracle 8i for NT

    Hi everyone!
I've succesfully installed Oracle 8i Stanard Edition 8.1.6 on a server Intel with 256 Mb Ram and Windows NT Server 4.0 with SP6a. I've succesfully created a standard database but if i try to create a custom database the creation stops with ORA-01034 error: Oracle not available. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks
    Luca

That error message usually represents the fact that Oracle is not running. Check the task manager services tab and see if Oracle is running.
It can be configured to start automatically if it is not already.

  • 8.1.7 installation issue

    I'm running Oracle 8.1.7 on Solaris 2.8 2/02 release on x86 platform.
My problem is that when it got to the point of creating the database from
the CD I got the infamouse ORA-01034 error. So I went to the command Line
    and peformed the following:
    SVRMGR> startup nomount
LRM-00109: could not open parameter file '?/dbs/[email protected]'
ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters
    SVRMGR>
As you see I get this problem. I still get this problem even if I stop this and run
dbassist to create the database. Any suggestions out there.
    # env | grep ORA
    ORACLE_BASE=/u01/app/oracle
    ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7
My oracle enviornment is set so what else did I do wrong. I didn't have this problem
    with 8.1.5.

    Please check /etc/system.

    Hi Chris!
The $OH and the $SID is correct. I can do a "/ as sysdba" without any problem.
I found the log at /cfgtoollogs. Except a "ORA-01034 error - Oracle not available" it does not give me any clues.
There is an issue with this install however: If i set the $OH without a trailing /, I get an error saying "Connected to an idle instance" when connecting "/ as sysdba". If I add the trailing / it works nicely. Could this be a part of the problem? From what I've seen earlier its the opposite that have been a problem.
Where does emca get the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID information? There are no changes in how emca responds whether I use a trailing / or not.
    Any idea?
    Thanks
    /Heyers

    How do I resolve this?

ERROR - ORA-01034: ORACLE not available ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist Linux Error: 2: No such file or directory An Oracle instance consists of a number of Oracle server processes (the limbs) and a shared memory area (the brain). Each and every server process participating in that Oracle instance needs to attach to the shared memory area.
The error message you see, states that the server process (launched in order to service your sqlplus/OEM client), failed to find and attach to this shared memory segment.
Two basic reasons for the failure.
The Oracle instance is not running. There are no shared memory area and Oracle server processes running for that instance. Solution: start up the database instance.
The server process was launched with the incorrect parameters (ORACLE_SID specifically) and attempted to attach to shared memory that does not exist. Solution: review the TNS/JDBC parameters of the client connection and configuration of the Oracle Listener to ensure that a server process launched to service a client, does so with the correct parameters and environment.
