05Q2 authentication-less desktop via gateway

Hello all,
I enabled the authentication-less desktop to be accessed through the gateway (added /portal/dt to non-authenticated url's and restarted the gateway).
However, I would now like that when users access the gateway URL, they are redirected to the authentication-less desktop. When a user now accesses the gateway, he get's the access manager login page...
Do you know of a way to do that? I would expect that the core authentication module (under service configuration) needs to know that users should be redirected to the portalserver /portal/dt instead of the accessmanager login page.
Thanks for your input.
Regards, Robert

Hello Jerry, thanks for your response.
My intention is for users to access the gateway URL (http://gateway/) and are redirected to the anonymous portal (https://gateway/http://portal:8080/portal/dt). At this time no authentication has taken place.
I think the default succes login url does not work in this situation because the user is not authenticated yet. The user gets the AM login page. I would expect that the gateway has an option to redirect the user to a specific page. The standard success url already points to the portal desktop. I will try to add the gateway URL, see what happens :-)
But is sure is tricky, because in the situation where the portal infra contains more then one portal server the success url should be able to point to more then one portal server. It isn't possible to use variable names for the portal url, is it?

How are you trying to setup the Time Capsule?
Wireless-> Network Mode, should be OFF as you already have wireless through your modem/router.
Network-> Router Mode, should be set to OFF "Bridge Mode".
Internet-> Connect Using, should be set to "DHCP".
Also, does your modem/router have a battery backup inside?
If so, you would need to remove the batteries to reset the network.

  • 11gR2 mappings to SQLServer via gateway

    Hi all,
we are evaluating the dataloading from SQLServer 2005 either via code template or via gateway (both cost a fortune in licences). The code template runs well but I don't know how to pass a dynamic filter criterion (e.g. a date) derived from the Oracle database. So there is a preference for the gateway but when validating a traditional mapping with a source table from a gateway module I'm getting the following message:
VLD-1151: Operator CALLDETAIL is bound to an object contained in native heterogeneous module SQLSERVER_LOCATION.
The detailed explanation (unfortunately it's not possible to copy it here) says that Oracle objects cannot directly access objects residing in native HS modules. I should use a template mapping. What does this mean? Does OWB enforce the use of code templates although there is a more efficient way which worked well until now? Or do I miss a configuration step?
I need a simple "insert into <locale table> select ... from <sqlserver table>@<gateway DB link>". How to achieve this via OWB.
    regards
    Thomas

    Hi David,
the source tables are stored in a module under the Database/SQL-Server node which can have a location either of type "Native Database Connection" or "SQL Server Gateway". I created both types in order to test the CT implementation with the native location and the gateway implementation with the gateway location. Both cannot be accessed by Oracle. But the native location works for the CT implementation. But when using the tables from the gateway location (with whichever LCT) I get on validation:
VLD-1339: The source location of execution unit SQL_SERVER_GATEWAY_LOC_EU cannot be determined.
The source operator(s) in this execution unit may not have a valid location (such as a constant operator), or the source operator(s) are not bound to location(s) that can be accessed using JDBC (such as a table operator bound to a SAP system).
What do you mean with "+if you are building a traditional mapping that uses gateways, the module must be Oracle accessed/typed (Oracle or Oracle Database Gateway+"? This is an insolvable requirement for the source module as I described below.
    1. We don't want to use a CT mapping for a gateway access. My client want to pay just one of the expensive licenses. And it worked in former releases without CT.
    2. Effectively, I don't get it running neither in the traditional mapping nor in the CT mapping.
    3. I want an ordinary INSERT statement generated. If OWB cannot do the job I must workaround it with a hardcoded procedure. It seems that OWB wants to force the users to implement CT's where it wasn't necessary until now.
    some more ideas?
    best regards

  • Accessing Pooled Virtual Desktops via RDP Client vs RDWeb

    Hello,
We have a Windows 2012 R2 Pooled Virtual Desktop PoC set up and can be accessed via RDWeb.   We need to be able to access the pooled desktops via the RDP client.  How can you specify the name of your Pooled Desktop Collection in the RDP client
vs connecting directly to an individual desktop?

    Hi,
To connect to the virtual desktop collection:
    1. Open Internet Explorer (or other browsers).
    2. In the Internet Explorer address bar, type the address of your RD Web Access server and then press Enter. For example,  https://rdwa1.contoso.com/RDWeb.
    3. Click Continue to this website (not recommended).
    4. In the Domain\user name box, type the user name.
    6. In the Password box, type the password for the use, and then click Sign in.
    7. Click the name of your Collection, and then click Connect.

  • Authentication through SMP to Gateway

I am trying to set up SMP to allow me to register with credentials which will then be used to access my back-end Gateway server.
I have configured the authorization profile to accept these registration details.
When I un-tick the box "Allow anonymous access", and remove the anonymous credentials, the Kapsel app breaks upon registration, and returns the message "check your connection data".
But when I tick the box "allow anonymous access" and enter the exact same credentials, it all works fine.
How do I set up SMP to accept credentials and then use these same ones to speak to my Gateway server? I need users to be able to uniquely identified in Gateway, so anonymous access will not be allowed.
i.e. I want to login to SMP as LSTANGER with a password (for example) and then I want SMP to make all connections to Gateway using this username and password, so that within Gateway I can uniquely identify a user, and restrict their data access accordingly.
    Thank you

Use HTTP/HTTPS authentication and provide the gateway end point URL for the app created in cockpit. No need to check the option "allow anonymous connections" and try.

I would like to disable the sliding animation that occurs when switching desktops via command → or ← in Mountain Lion. It gives me motion sickness!

I have a Free Agent external backup hard drive connected to my iMac Intel desktop via USB, I never unplug it.  Why do I get an error message, from time to time, upon startup stating, "Disk was disconnected improperly.  Always eject disk before disconnecting."?

I never unplug the external harddrive, and the error message comes up only occassionaly upon startup.  Maybe the USB connection gets disrupted enough to cause the computer to see it as disconnected and then reconnected while the iMac is powered.

  • Remote Desktop Connection Client 9.3.9600 unable to connect to Server 2012 RDS via Gateway

    Hi,
I have a Windows Sever 2012 R2 RDS environment with two Gateways servers configured in high availability mode (RD Web Access, RD Gateway, RD Connection Broker roles installed) and four Windows Server 2012 R2 RDS Session Hosts. The servers are all running
the most recent public server updates. With this configuration I when connecting externally using a Windows 7 computer with the older Remote Desktop Connection client (6.1.7601) I am able to connect without any problems however when I try connecting with a
newer client from a computer running Windows 8.1 and the 9.3.9600 client I am unable to connect.
At the moment a NAT rule is configured to pass 80/443 traffic to only one of the RDS gateway servers, I've removed our load balancer from the configuration for the moment to reduce the complexity.
No error is generated by the client when it tries to connect it just stops trying to connect after a while.
On the Gateways servers event logs for
Things I have looked into so far.
    - I've double and triple checked the RDS configuration and checked it against one of my other clients configurations that is working and they are identical.
    - Connecting from an older client version works fine.
I'm not sure what else can be checked does anyone have any ideas?

    Hi,
    1. What entries are you seeing in the RD Gateway's log?  Event Viewer\ Applications and Services Logs\ Microsoft\ Windows\ TerminalServices-Gateway
    2. How come you are not forwarding UDP port 3391 in addition to TCP port 443?  It should work without UDP, but you will not have UDP support which is one of the benefits of RDP 8.0/8.1.
    3. Are there any non-default group policy settings being applied to the servers and/or client PCs?  To be clear, I'm asking if any changes have been made to the default local and domain security policies, group policy objects, new GPOs that may have
been added, etc., that are applicable to the servers and or client PCs.

  • Weird lost access to iMac's desktop via Airport Extreme wireless LAN

This is weird and complicated. I'll try to keep it simple.
    1. Two computers on a wireless LAN via Airport Extreme: G4 Powerbook and 20" G5 iMac. The LAN has worked flawlessly and seamlessly for several years, and except for this ONE anomaly, still does.
    2. When logged-in to the iMac from the Powerbook, all its files and contents show up normally in it's networked-drive window in Finder,
    3. EXCEPT the desktop. And I mean the real desktop which is under my ID under USERS.
    4. Searching the Powerbook from the iMac, however, works just fine and shows all of the Powerbook's contents.
Repairs of Permissions on both computers have accomplished nothing.
There is one other peculiar symptom: there was a .wmv movie file sent me by a friend, and I had a copy of it on the desktops of both computers. It sat there, showed up and ran just fine, until one day something curious happened:
The file would show up in the column-view Finder window of the iMac's desktop when I opened it from the Finder Window, but would, after about a second, disappear!
If I try to import, on the Powerbook, some random file into the iMac's Desktop folder, it appears for a brief second and then the folder once again displays as empty.
I have trashed that wmv file, and yet sometimes its name blinks up on the iMac's desktop list (that is, again, the column view display in the Finder window).
    This is profoundly weird.
Oh, and there's nothing changed or weird about the SHARING settings. Personal File Sharing is enabled on both computers, as is Printer Sharing, and itunes music sharing is also enabled. All of these continue to work just fine. Firewall is enabled, but always has been.
    Owen

Well, when in doubt try all the obvious things FIRST!
I rank Disk Utility from the install disk, did a disk repair, and, well, Bob's your uncle, and all is fine again. Apparently that ghost file screwed up the count of files (I'm not sure what that means, but it seems consistent with a file that would materialize and then disappear, and screw up display of a folder's contents - the folder it was lurking-in invisibly.
    Very peculiar, none the less.
    Owen
I'll leave this open for another day, if only to see if someone has an explanation for what may have happened, since that might be useful to others, besides satisfying my own curiosity.

  • Authentication with App Service Gateway worked, but now fails

So I was trying to authenticate my app with the App Service gateway so that I can access my locked down Api App. I have set up identity providers for both Google and Microsoft, and all was working wonderfully. I was making some tweaks with how I was handling
the authentication token, so I was hitting the authentication code 3-4 time a minute. Everything was great until suddenly the web page stopped opening up.
I did some digging and it seems that the gateway simply cannot handle my requests anymore. I am now getting 500 responses and the streaming logs for the gateway host web app spat out an IIS error page that I've pasted at the end here... To me the
error looks like it's coming from the gateway code. So what is going on? I've tried restarting both the gateway and the host for the gateway, I've tried changing the pricing tier to a non-shared plan in case something on the machine was crashing, and
I've tried accessing the /signin-google page on both my mobile app and desktop browser (both fail with 500). I assume that recreating the entire resource group and associated gateway would solve the problem, but I don't know that this won't happen again. So
any tips you have would be appreciated, thanks.
    IIS Error page:
HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error
The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred.
    Most likely causes:
IIS received the request; however, an internal error occurred during the processing of the request. The root cause of this error depends on which module handles the request and what was happening in the worker process when this error occurred.
IIS was not able to access the web.config file for the Web site or application. This can occur if the NTFS permissions are set incorrectly.
IIS was not able to process configuration for the Web site or application.
The authenticated user does not have permission to use this DLL.
The request is mapped to a managed handler but the .NET Extensibility Feature is not installed.
    Things you can try:
Ensure that the NTFS permissions for the web.config file are correct and allow access to the Web server's machine account.
Check the event logs to see if any additional information was logged.
Verify the permissions for the DLL.
Install the .NET Extensibility feature if the request is mapped to a managed handler.

No, it wasn't anything to do with Insights. Actually coming back after a weekend cleared my mind enough for me to spot my foolish error. It turns out I had accidentally switched the login and redirect urls,
    From
    Login: <gatewayurl>/login/google
    Redirect: <gatewayurl>/signin-google
    To
    Login: <gatewayurl>/signin-google
    Redirect: <gatewayurl>/login/google
I just didn't notice at the time because /signin-google looks like a signin url rather than a redirect one. As soon as I switched back to using the /login/google one everything is back to working smoothly. Sorry for the false alarm, but as a side note I
don't think the gateway should be throwing an exception if there is no auth token.

  • Authenticating cisco phones via EAP-TLS by LSC with Radiator

    Hi everyone,
On a post from 4 years ago (https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/10952961/8021x-phone-authentication-eap-tls-mic-only) I read that someone managed to work authenticate phones via EAP-TLS without ACS, but rather using a Radiator server. They authenticated by MIC on each phone. I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not it's possible to do so by LSC, and if so how is it different than by MIC?
    Thanks in advance!

I think the default EAP-TLS session timeout is zero sec. Enter the maximum number of seconds you want the client to remain connected to the network access device before having to reauthenticate in the Session TImeout field. If you enter a number greater than 0, the lesser of this value and the remaining resumption limit is sent in a Session-Limit attribute to the RADIUS client on the RADIUS Access-Accept response.
If you enter 0, a Session-Limit attribute is not generated directly. A 0 does not prevent the authentication methods that perform secondary authorization from providing a value.
Entering a value such as 600 (10 minutes) does not necessarily cause a full reauthentication to occur every 10 minutes. You can configure the resumption limit to make most reauthentications fast and computationally efficient.
