'09 MBP "Crash" problem triggered by Panic! Transmit
So, I'm having a problem with my MBP that's been driving me crazy for ages. It's trigged by Panic! Transmit but they have been unable to help me resolve the problem, so I turn to you.
Order of Operations.
1. System is operating perfectly.
2. I launch Panic! Transmit. (No problem)
3. I connect to a remote drive (S3/FTP/cloud) in the program. (No Problem)
4. I ask Panic! Transmit to MOUNT the remote connection as a drive. (The drive gets mounted BUT my mouse has suddenly become choppy. i.e. I move it and it skips around jumping. Very rough movement.)
5. I unmount drive (Nothing changes)
6. I close Panic! Transmit (Nothing changes)
7. I reboot
8. Login screen shows up ... I click my User Name and Log in.
9. The system auto-restarts before entering OS. (I never see the desktop)
10. Login screen shows up AGAIN ... I click my User Name and Log in
11. Now the OS tries to launch my login items ... it hangs for 10-20 seconds... nothing is being lauched. Something triggers and boom, it resets back to some backup state and starts to launch OLD login items that have long since been removed. It is also now re-indexing my hard drive in Finder.
12. I go and change all of the login items back to what their supposed to be and continue going about my business.
Questions!
1. What file/operation is being corrupted such that my login items are being reset to some historical state?
2. What can Mounting a drive be doing in the OS that causes the mouse to become super unresponsive?
Any help is appreciated, I bought Transmit and I loved using it, but it's more or less a waste of HD space as of right now and I wish I had an alternative to work with.
Did you find a cure for this? I have a similar problem on a macbook mini. Using Mountain Lion and panic transmit 4....

After upgrade to OSX Mavericks my 2009 MBP keeps crashing due to kernel panic
After upgrade to OSX Mavericks my 2009 MBP keeps crashing due to kernel panic (happens every 20 minutes or so). Please help me with this, it's getting very frustrating. Have tried disk utility, there were errors (file system was corrupted), the disk utility managed to repair the disk but the crashes continue.

For all users of the newest MBPs - freezing problem
I spent the whole last week trying to detect the problem of the freezing OS (every N minutes, a freeze for 20-30 sec).
If you're experiencing the same issue, don't waste your time uninstalling 'suspicious' software like I did… this helps. Really:

Downgrading the EFI 1.7 (preinstalled or installed with Software Update) to EFI 1.6 solves the problem. No more freezing. The update procedure seemed a bit risky to me but well, it worked (you can use an USB stick, I used my external USB hard drive)
My tech specs: MacBookPro5,4, 2,53 GHz, 4GB RAM, HDD - Hitachi HTS545025B9SA02, OS 10.6.1
One more thing: in case of other strange problems, try uninstalling Logitech mouse drivers if you've got those. That one solved my coreservicesd crashing problems. I'm waiting for the incoming update of Logitech.yes, I did. I spent at least 8 hours searching for a solution here, in the forums and tried everything making sense... The EFI downgrade was the only thing that helped.
My personal opinion is: Apple should offer the EFI downgrade option to all users in an official way. It looks like my favorite vendor does not want to admit they made a hardware+software mistake (the EFI 1.7 update solves some HDD issues on some new MBPs but causes other problems on other MBPs).

CS4 Crashing Problems - Questions
Just curious in regards to all of these "CS4 Crashing" problems.
1) Before updating to Snow leopard, did you people do due diligence by at the very least checking the S.M.A.R.T. status of your drives and do a Permission Repair first BEFORE updating?
2) Did you make a clone of your working perfectly Leopard disk, or at least do a current (minutes before) Time machine backup?
3) Did you check first which 3rd party extensions such as those by Unsanity (FontCard), YouControl(Font), Growl, etc. that will NOT play nice with Snow Leopard yet until they are updated (if ever?)... and pre-update delete them?
4) Did you check to make sure that all of your fonts have been disabled and those that are NOT specifically from Apple, are removed from the User Font folders... and NOT set to load at startup?
Now after all of that... did ya still "freely" and without a gun to your head, update to Snow Leopard... a brand spankin' new (dot.zero) OS release and expect absolutely NO bugs: small, large or just inconvenient for the time being?
And now your whining here?... and complaining to Apple?
Have any of you considered reverting to your clone of Leo 10.5.8 until certain issues (yours) have been fail-safely fixed?
For the record, I did a straight-up SL update on a 2.16 CoreDuo MBP, and a 2008 8-core MacPro with NO problems! Everything working fine in 32-bit and 64-bit (MacPro), including even FreeHand under Rosetta.
NOTE: check your fonts!!! Whenever something crashes here or at any of my clients unexpectedly, font and/or font cache corruption has been the main culprit, now for over 20 years(!)DocPixel-BMW wrote:
Well on one hand, I was guilty of letting out a rant against all of the whiners... on the other I was trying to be a bit helpful.
Maybe it will cause someone to think before starting another "Adobe or Apple must die or fix this" thread. It grates on the nerves... considering most should "fix" their expectations, upgrade habits, and most of all, the area between their ears first... BEFORE posting.

New IMac is crashing randomly because of "Panic Kernel Error." Now IMac startup disk is not visible and will not mount. What the story with this machine. Running 10.6.7
Almost certainly, some sort of hardware problem on your logic board.

Internal Application Error With Panic Transmit
I have been using Panic Transmit for years with Tiger, and Snow Leopard without any problems to upload to a server that handles my web site. I now have Lion and every time I try to upload a corrected page for my web site I get the following error message.
I am not sure if it has to do with any Apple functions or the remote server that I am using, I am not very familiar with this.
Below is the error message I get every time I open up Transmit to upload a page, can someone tell me if it has to do with some thing in my OS Lion or ? The message below is what I get.
An internal application error has occurred. This error will cause instability, and it is recommended you quit and relaunch Transmit. I am not including the stack frame backtrace since it is very long. In the Console log, I have the message after the Problem Details.
Problem Details:
Application: Transmit [4095]
Version: 4.1.7
Identifier: com.panic.Transmit
Exception: NSRangeException
Reason: [NOTE: this exception originated in the server.]
*** -[__NSArrayM objectAtIndex:]: index 10 beyond bounds [0 .. 9]

Architecture: Intel
Report Version: 6
Anonymous UUID: E66005C9-FE03-454A-92DD-0580E743FEB0
Console Log:
2011-12-31 13:51:52.000 Transmit[4095] CFURLCreateWithString was passed this invalid URL string: '/System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks /CoreGraphics.framework/Versions/A/Resources/libCSync.A.dylib' (a file system path instead of an URL string). The URL created will not work with most file URL functions. CFURLCreateWithFileSystemPath or CFURLCreateWithFileSystemPathRelativeToBase should be used instead.
Please help, this is all confusing to me.
DaisymayHi jakesan,
At the time I was using Transmit last year to FTP to a server that was handling my website, I did not have any problems using Snow Leopard, it was when I installed Lion that I had a problem. I just looked at all of my old emails when I was sending back and forth information like plist etc., to Les a Panic tech. I spent about three weeks sending information to him, and he could not find out what the problem was, so I just stopped using Transmit.
I just clicked on Transmit to open up the application, and I still get the window with the error saying that
"An internal application error has occurred." I installed the new update to version 4.2 and got the same message.
Last year the company that I was using to host my website went out of business, and so I went with
Go Daddy, and I have been using their FTP program to make changes to my website as needed and I don't have any problems.
Some day I still may try to find out what is going on but when I mentioned this to Go Daddy in January, 2012 the tech's said that there have been many complaints on the web about this problem.
I don't know if anyone is having this problem with Mountain Lion, I have not downloaded the new operating system yet, maybe someone can let us know if they still have a problem with Transmit 4.2 and Mountain Lion.
Hope this helps you, but for now I would look at another FTP program to use, and maybe "Google" what would work with Lion or Mountain Lion.
Have a good Holiday Season,

Why does this keep happening? MBP Crashing Daily.
Here's my crash log, please help me figure something out. Once a week or month wouldn't bother me, but this is getting absurd. Relevant running programs may include
- Sophos Antivirus
- gfxCardStatus
- Spectacle
- Backblaze
- LogMeIn
- Safari
- (Chrome is *not* running)
Any ideas?

After upgrading to Yosemite, my MBP crashes everytime I try to open BitTorrent, What´s wrong??
The acsm file is not the book, it is a ticket to get the book. I sometimes get library books online, here is what I do.
1. Start ADE on the computer
2. Go to library website and find the book I want to download.
3. Click on the download link
4. In windows 7 a box opens asking whether I want to open( or run) or save the acsm file
5. Click open/run and ADE downloads the book into the "Library"
6. Transfer the book (epub file) to the reader. -
How do I add Panic Transmit Favorites to MobileMe's Sync Preferences?
I know that I just need to go to a folder but I'm not sure where it was. I thought that it was in the /User/Library/Application Support/Schemas folder, but I only see that on my MobileMe but not locally on my machine. Does anyone know where I can find the folder on the Finder in order to add my Favorites from Panic Transmit back into the Sync Preferences for MobileMe?
Be careful rephrasing Terminal commands so people don't put the extra text you added afterwards. It's just:
~/Library/Application\ Support/Transmit/TransmitSync.app/Contents/MacOS/TransmitSync --registerClient -
How do I fix a FINDER crash problem in 10.6.8
I recently, in the last 10 days, started having a FINDER crash problem with my iMac 24" (iMac9,1) Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz computer.
I have 4 GB of ram installed, no external hard disks installed.
It seems to crash when I have five or more applications open, but it is not consistant.
When it freezes or crashes, I get the spinning ball. I open the Force Quit Window with comand, option, escape and it show Finder not responding.
I click on Finder and tell it to relaunch. It does nothing. At that point I cannot even go to the APPLE icon on the dock and do a shutdown or restart.
From that point on, I have to press and hold the START button to shut the computer down.
I have checked the hard disk integrity with Disk Utility after starting on the Snow Leopard 1.6 install disk. everything shows good.
I have repaired permissions using the same application. I then restart the computer and log back in.
I have used Onyx for Snow Leopard version 2.3.1 to do some maintenance routines.
I have checked the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive and it passes.
I have verified that the Daily, Weekly, Monthly routines have been run. They have.
I have executed the Cleaning tab to include the following cache files:

Short of taking this computer, packing it up, and hauling it down to the Apple Store for the 'Genius' to poke around in it, I am at a brick
wall as to what to do next. (I am useing this same computer to enter this message).
Here's hoping someone on the forum will have an answer.

P.S. Does APPLE Technicians ever read these discussion questions and interject their 'Expert' knowledge?/Library/Preferences is where you will find that file.

You can also try working through Adobe's troubleshooting steps:

Renaming the presets folder can help. (The program will automatically make a new one when you next launch it):

I created a new profile to fix a crashing problem and now I can't get my bookmarks.
Creating the new profile has fixed my crashing problem and I copied the recommended files and folders from my old profile to my new one but I still can't get my bookmarks. What am I doing wrong?
These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your
Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more.
In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild
your saved files individually into installable .xpi files.
It will also make backup of files that you choose.
