0x0000007A stop error

Dear Community,
I wonder if anyone can shed any light on a problem I have been having for the past 6 weeks. I have a Thinkpad T410i 2516CTO i3 laptop 2 GB Ram 250GB hard disk running Win 7 Professional 32 bit. Over the past 6 weeks I have been getiing repeated windows stop errors with error code 0x0000007A crash dump failed with status 0xc0000010. The problem started with an nitial laggy response when browsing the internet then gradually the browser would hang and then hard disk woould crash with BSOD. I have performed an antimalware scans with Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 which showed nothing.
I have clean installed Windows 7 x 3 with no success. I thought it might have been My antivirus. I uninstalled it but I still get the bsods
I have performed full hardware test  using ThinkVantage Toolbox which found nothing. I have run check disk to fix data corruption with no success. I have also run disk clean up to free up disk space.
A think of note I have found in the Event Viewer is that there are several errors related to Device\Ide\iastore did not respond within the time out period. There have also been several references  event 13 ACPI at the time of the crashes.
My computer runs without crashing in safe mode. I am at the limit of my tech knowledge and wonder is the a way to upload my dump files for resident experts to give me a pointer as to what's going on?
Thanks again for taking the time to read my query.

Updating the post Windows drivers it one of the first things to do, from the chipset to specific components if you're not using the factory reinstall DVD's to put it back to OEM out of the box configuration.
Checking device manager for omitted devices is next to ensure all are working. A seasoned tech would not have run into that problem. Its just what we do without thinking and always been that way since Windows 95. Microsoft DOES NOT have manufacturer subsystem specific drivers although they may have generic ones which may or may not work. But usually are updated/replace after the 1st part of the installation by Lenovo drive update or manual package updates.
That and the fact that there are hours worth of Windows OS updates yet to install makes the process take half a day at least. Most people don't believe it. I don't care so I tell them to do it themselves and leave me alone if they won't pay for it to get done right and complete. Anyone cand put a DVD in the machine and after answering the initial prompt let it install and give it back to them a hour later saying its done. But it isn't done, not by a long shot. There are things that won't work. Especially on notebooks.
Well you learned something. LOL Have a pint or two.

  • Stop errors

Hi, I have an AMD64 board, the K8T Neo-FIS2R, with 1 gig RAM, Radeon 9800 Pro, Santa Cruz sound card, and Athlon64 3200+ processor.  Now, I ran it fine for a while, but suddenly, I get stop errors repeatedly, stop errors 0x00000077 and 0x0000007A.  I get them a lot when I play games, but only Unreal based games (UT2k4, Postal 2, and such).  For example, I played a long time on Half Life, no problem, but playing Postal creates several hitches, then a crash.  Quickly.  I checked forums for UT2k4 and Postal 2, and got no answers...  What could be causing this?  The temperature runs at about 52-54C at the most, which it has with ease before, so that can't be it.

Well, I ran a windows Mem disgnostic boot disk, and the first time it crashed... second it was ok.  So I booted back up... still bad.  Angry, I cracked the computer and yanked out the mem to look at it closely.  Well... long story short, there was dust.  On the connector.  Not sure if it was there initially or if my pulling it out got the ram dirty, but I cleaned it and put it back in, and no problems anymore.  Who knew.
Maybe it's a bad cause-effect relationship (i.e. something else changed and I didn't see it), but hey, it's working now, so lesson learned.  Clean the PC now and then.

  • Why am I receiving the "Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped" error message and how do I fix it?

Why am I receiving the "Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped" error message and how do I fix it?

I am so upset. Please read my messages from my postings. This has nothing to do with SIM Card, Hard Reset, Apps, Google Gmail Account, nothing. I have gone thru all of this and NOTHING has fixed this. I went to the store today and spoke to the manager on duty. He said he had to try and duplicate the problem before he could help me. I showed him "screen captures" I did, told him it's out here on the board, etc. etc. Needless to say I ended up coming home with the same phone, "he" erased the phone and started over again. Well guess what, it's not a error with "MY" Gmail account being corrupted because if that is the case Mrs. Hayden14 has a bad Gmail account too. If you guessed it, the phone just crashed again! I was able this time to capture a report with ALL the history in it and saved screen captures to PROVE to him this is not a joke. Even the report says "Crash". This time it was something else I don't even or ever have used. I have also wasted over a day , yes a full work day on this without question.
I have had to get the run around for the last day. This is totally ridiculous, including them putting me on hold for 55 min. Oh, that's another funny story. Anyways, tomorrow morning I am going to the Verizon store one last and final time and I hope they decided to do the right thing and give me a phone that does not crash and works. It would be handy at work for me, especially where I work at. I hope hope hope someone listens to and helps me. I would love for them to see me walk in, take my phone and say to me were going to get you another phone, hand it to me, see if it works and prove it's the device. I don't hear anyone having this issue on other phone types so sounds like its the phone type.
I have had 3 phones now in the matter of 2 weeks. I am sure the FedEx charges will add up to a cost of a new phone at some point and start to outbalance your requirement to give me the same phone when it has the same problem.
Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow.

  • MSI K9A Platinum and VIA drivers issue? XP 0x0000007B stop error.

I get a Windows Stop error when trying to boot into Windows XP with new components. The SATA hard drive (and Windows XP installation) is from the old computer.
    The new computer components are:
MB: MSI K9A Platinum, chipset: RD580 (North Bridge), SB600 (South Bridge)
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 5600+, boxed (the cooler and fan came with the CPU).
    Video: MSI Radeon 1950 XTX
The old (and working) computer setup is:
    OS: XP Professional
    MB: Abit AV8-3rd Eye, chipset: VIA K8T800Pro + VT8237
    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500+
    Video: Sapphire Radeon 9800Pro All-in-Wonder, videodriver: atidvag.dll version 6.14.10.6542
HD: Maxtor 6B200M0 SCSI Disk Device
    BIOS: Phoenix 6.00PG 20.04.2005
System drivers with "via" in the name: VIAAGP1.SYS, viaide.sys, viasride.sys
VIA 4in1 (Hyperion) version: 4.55 (that can be found at HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Via4in1Driver).
VIA 2.20e SATA/RAID driver was used when installing this computer setup.
    The precise stop error is:
    0x0000007B (0xba4c3528, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
From many sites I have gathered that the error is related to Windows XP not being able to access a critical system drive. Most probably the SATA hard drive issue.
The problem probably is the VIA drivers of the old motherboard and/or the SATA driver.
First I should mention, that MSI K9A Platinum does not have a hard disk SATA driver. If it does, I have been unable to find one. Certainly no such floppy disk included, and no such driver in the MSI's Web page for this motherboard.
Second important point: I never used RAID. I did use VIA 2.20e SATA/RAID driver disk when installing Windows XP to the old computer.
Strange that the hard drive model is reported as a "SCSI Disk Device". It's not a SCSI drive however: it's a SATA disk.
I have tried to uninstal the motherboard chipset drivers (Hyperion v4.55), but there seems to be a bug here: the drivers should be uninstalled using the installation program, and select the uninstall option. However, I do not get the uninstallation option to choose at all! Yes, I'm using the normal installation mode, not the quick installation (although tried that, too). The Hyperion setup program just installs, and asks to reboot the computer. After rebooting and trying again, it still does not offer me an uninstallation choise.
I know how to install hard drive VIA SATA driver, but I have no idea how to uninstall it. And I'm afraid to do that without certainty that it IS the solution, since I could not access the hard drive any more in the old computer setup (and return to read this forum). Also, I do not have a floppy drive any more. Anyone know if there is an issue with K9A and XP having VIA SATA driver installed?
When I tried the new computer setup, I first tried the simplest possible hardware combination: there were no CD/DVD-drives, no (parallel)IDE hard drives, and no PCI cards, except the MSI video adapter.
My BIOS Setup experiments. None of these helped: got the same stop error each time.
    1) I didn't much touch the BIOS setting first. Just tried to boot with the settings BIOS came with.
    2) Next I disabled the integrated audio, LAN and IEE1394 devices and floppy drive and disabled all other choises except the SATA drive as a boot device.
    3) Next I tried with the fail-safe BIOS defaults.
    4) Cleared CMOS.
    5) Changed OnChip SATA type from Native IDE to Legacy IDE. (Only one boot attempt with the setting as Legacy.)
    6) Disabled PCI IDE BusMaster.
    7) Never touched anything in the Cell Menu: so the settings are in minimum.
A step I have taken after the last attempt: run Windows XP hard drive error-checking tool to every logical drive with the fix option selected, and the system drive also with scan the bad sectors option selected.
    My plans next are:
    1) to install a newer Hyperion driver. If that would correct the no-unistallation-choice-bug,
    2) to disable USB-devices in the BIOS (desperate),
    3) to choose the Windows general video display driver (although I seriously doubt this is a display driver problem!).
    4) to uninstall the Anti-Virus software (Avira Antivir).
I've read a numerous Web pages so far about the 0x0000007B stop error. Here are some links:

    Stop 0x0000007B or INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
This Stop message, also known as Stop 0x7B, indicates that Windows XP Professional lost access to the system volume or boot volume during the startup process. This error always occurs while the system is starting and is often caused by one of the following:
        * Hardware problems
        * Corrupted or incompatible storage drivers
        * File system problems
        * Boot sector viruses
        * Outdated firmware
During I/O system initialization, this error can occur when:
        * The controller or driver for the startup device (typically the hard disk) failed to initialize the necessary hardware.
        * File system initialization failed because the system did not recognize the data on the boot device.

You receive a Stop 0x0000007B error after you move the Windows XP system disk to another computer
    SYMPTOMS
After you move the Microsoft Windows XP system (boot) disk to a backup computer, you may receive the following Stop error when you try to start the Windows XP-based backup computer:
    STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF741B84C,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)
    CAUSE
This error may occur if the registry entries and the drivers for the mass storage controller hardware in the backup computer are not installed in Windows XP.
    RESOLUTION
To resolve this error, use the same hardware for the backup computer.
Heh, heh! Very nice Microsoft, but I plan to update my computer, so I NEED to use different components

    Device Driver Issues
You may receive a "Stop 0x0000007B" error message in the following scenarios:
    •   A device driver that the computer boot controller needs is not configured to start during the startup process.
    •   A device driver that the computer boot controller needs is corrupted.
    •   Information in the Windows XP registry (information related to how the device drivers load during startup) is corrupted.
    Hardware Issues
You may receive a "Stop 0x0000007B" error message if there is a resource conflict between the boot controller and another controller or between SCSI devices. You may also receive this Stop error message if drive translation is not being performed or if drive translation was changed. To troubleshoot this issue:
    1.   If an IRQ or I/O port address conflict exists between the boot controller and another controller, Windows XP either stops responding (hangs) or displays a "Stop 0x0000007B" error message. If you recently added new hardware, remove the new hardware or reconfigure it so that it does not conflict with the resources of any other installed controllers.
    2.   If you are using a SCSI hard disk, check the SCSI chain for correct termination. Remove any unused SCSI devices or make sure that each SCSI ID is unique.
    3.   Make sure that drive translation is turned on (if it is required) and that it has not been changed. For example, if you recently switched controllers, this issue may occur. SYMPTOMS
When you start your Microsoft Windows XP-based computer after you replace the motherboard on the computer, you may receive a Stop error message that is similar to the following:
    STOP 0x0000007B INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE
    CAUSE
This issue may occur if the new motherboard contains an embedded IDE controller that has a different chipset than the original motherboard.
    RESOLUTION
Method 1: Perform an in-place upgrade of Windows XP [<- That means repair installation of Windows XP]
    •   Do not use a repair or in-place upgrade if you suspect disk problems.
Method 2: Repartition and format your hard disk and reinstall Windows XP

Alright I got the situation over.

I did try all all the above, and none of them helped.
And by the way: after installing the new Hyperion (VIA chipset drivers), I was finally able to also uninstall. It also uninstalled the IDE SATA (I think) and PATA drivers.
But what I had to do, was to make a REPAIR installation of Windows XP.
So, I was wondering now afterwards: this is really, really silly. Why the hell we need to re-install Windows if we move the SYSTEM SATA drive to another computer? We don't have similar problem with parallel IDE drives. Whom should we thank here??
The issue is to insert the driver files and the information of the ide drivers Windows should use with the next boot. How can it be this difficult?
    What you basically need is..
    - the information about the new chipset's PCIIDE.SYS/[VENDOR_PROVIDED_FILE].SYS and ATAPIIDE.SYS inserted into the values in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSetXXX\Control\CriticalDeviceDatabase
    - and the vendor's IDE drivers to the %SYSTEMROOT%/System32/drivers folder.
Maybe something else, I don't know. But the problem was, Windows didn't know how, or what drivers to use. That can't be so big problem you need to install the whole OS anew!

  • PC getting Stop error when connecting iTouch

I have a 2nd generation iTouch that I sync'd up to my pc with no problem when I first got it about 2 weeks ago. Now everytime I connect it, I get the blue screen with a stop error. My daughter also has an iTouch (1st generation) and I can connect that one with no issues. Any ideas on what to do? I repaired iTunes but really didn't want to uninstall and it seems to be just my iTouch. I can connect it to my work laptop to charge with no issues too.

Well, the other USB port was working for a while. Now none work. When I plug my iTouch in, I get the Windows XP stop error and the blue screen of death. The USB port works for other things like my jump drive. I can plug my iTouch into my laptop and all is fine. I recently upgraded my iTouch to 3.0 but it still worked after doing that. Do you think my USB drivers need to be upgraded?

You don't need to upgrade your software.  But if you're struggling with Spry, IMO you should cut your losses and switch to something better for the longrun.
If you have a budget to work with, I highly recommend Project Seven's Pop-Menu Magic 3.  It's easy to use in DW CS4, 5, 6 or CC.  More importantly, it's bullet proof and works in all devices.
Pop-Menu  Magic3 by PVII (commercial DW extension)

If you don't have a budget to work with, you can roll your own menus with jQuery plugins.  A bit more effort on your part, but they perform better than Spry.

  • ITunes Stop Error

Ok ever since last night, every time i open iTunes i get a stop error on a blue screen causing my computer to restart. The error is 0x0000008E. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME?

I figured it out, it was just permissions on the drives..

  • Stop Error / Blue Screen of Death... Please Help

    Hello,
I have been having problems with my desktop computer ever since I Installed the BT Total Broadband software.
I have seen a similar topic regarding the Stop error and BSOD,but the problem there appears to be with a wireless connection with a laptop. I, on the other hand, am using an ethernet cable connection with a desktop, so I am not sure if the fix will also work for me.
The problem I have am having is that my computer frequently either resets or BSOD's, with an IRQ_Less_Or_Equal message. This usually occurs within minutes of any kind of internet navigation, and after it has occured once, the problem seems to persist, causing my computer to freeze during bootup, or crashing/resetting shortly after windows (eventually) loads successfully.
Please help, this is driving me crazy!

Thanx again for the replies guys, this is all very helpful!
Firstly, Im running windows XP, SP3.
Also, I have to admit the inside of my computer is quite dusty and could use a good clean.
Finally, its interesting to note that although my computer has a habit of crashing/resetting/BSODing quite regularly during online activity, sometimes the system seems to stabilise, and will run perfectly well for hours at a time.
However I have reached a point where the continual errors, and the resulting 100x crashes and windows failing to load has driven me to seek professional help (here, not a pyschiatrist )

  • Restarting After a Blue Screen Stop Error

I have received a Blue Screen Stop Error on my Toshiba Satellite 5200 Series laptop.
I could report it here, in full, if that would be helpful. However, it begins by telling me to restart the machine but the unit's Power button is not allowing me to switch it off.
What action should I take ?

Crikey ! Someone at another forum just told me to hold the button down for 5 seconds..... and it worked !

  • Critical error, blue screen stop error

after installing installation CD today, my laptop keeps going to a blue screen reporting a STOP error.... a critical error, but can't reslove. Have now removed the iTunes and it hasn't happened yet.
    Maybe a conflict, I don't know.
    Dell Inspirion Laptop   Windows XP

I found the answer !  Turns out it is/was not a Win7 problem, but a drive problem.
I was following some links on another Win7 forum and happened upon mention of SSD drives causing a BSOD.  The one in particular mentioned was a Crucial M4 SSD. It sounded familiar . . . I have one as my C: drive.  Turns out I needed a firmware
update. The update corrects a condition where an incorrect response to a SMART power-on counter will cause the m4 drive to become unresponsive after 5184 hours of Power-on time. The drive will recover after a power cycle, however, this failure will repeat
once per hour after reaching this point. 5184 hours is about 7.2 months. Just a bit under how long I've had this system.
I applied the update . . . . . computer has been running seven hours now.
Thanks to all who helped me here.
    Joe
    Wanted to add for reference:
The original post from Crucial acknowledging the issue.
    BSOD Crucial M4
The fix is as simple as updating the firmware, but the hoops to jump through for the firmware update to take place is a bit frustrating.
With my board, z68-v pro, it was necessary for me to go into the bios and change my controller mode to IDE. In addition I needed to remove the drive connected to the Marvell port and plug it into the Intel port as well as put my two ssd's on the first and
second Intel ports. Once this was done I was able to get past the 'finding drives' screen and update the firmware for both ssd's. Once the update finished I went back into the bios and changed the controller mode back to AHCI. As i said, a frustrating experience
but I commend Crucial for owning up to the issue rather than lead people to think their ssd's needed replacing or something was wrong with windows and subsequent unnecessary re-installs.

  • Blue Screen Stop error

I have experienced windows reboots due to stop error like 000000c2 or 100008e. First I have reinstalled windows and all the adjacent software, but it seems the problem keeps on hitting me again. Last week I have connected my notebook to internet and since then I have had two windows suddenly reboots. I don't think it's a virus 'cause I'm running Kaspersky, with a Sygate firewall and a Ad-Aware real time protection spyware shield. Could you please give me an advice regarding these issues.

    Hi Vlad
Not easy to say what the problem can be but if you describe some problem you can give more info that can be useful. At the basis of your posting we can just speculate.
    Which unit you have?
    Some hardware upgrades (like memory)?
    Connected some external devices?
If the problem persists after fresh OS installation I presume that there is some hardware problem.

  • Ipod touch triggering Win XP Pro stop error upon plugin to USB port....

Okay this is a curious conundrum with a problem that I suspect lies somewhere between my itunes and my touch. A week or so ago, my ipod was still syncing fine as normal and I was at my sister's house with my laptop. Just now tried to remember what exactly I synced because I got a few new apps that weekend and was using a neighbor's wifi (and a weak reception of it too) to download them and wasn't able to download the last one which I do remember was the tap tap revolution.
When I did get home I plugged the laptop back up on my desk and plugged back in my usb devices (external optical drive, num pad, 2nd HD, mouse, and security doggle) and brought it out of hibernation. Don't remember though in what order things happened though I think it was that I let the app finish downloading and then plugged in the touch and I got a stop error and reboot...or got the BSD immediately and a reboot....
Anyway ever since then when I usually plug in and attempt to sync my touch I get the BSD and the whole schebang is so finicky as to the EXACT timing for me to plug it in and NOT have a BSD. Can't leave it plugged in b/c it would BSD again during chkdsk startup and/or reboot, and half the time it still BSDs on the welcome screen (again depending on what time I plug in the cable)
None of my other devices and USB drives error out my system, only when I plug in the touch now. Is it because of a bug in the Ipod software version 2.1?
Oh btw, the other morning the pod locked up on me and I plugged it in to see if that would get it working right again and I heard the sound effect for a device plugin but not the sound on the ipod that "says" that it's being charged and there was no bluescreen. I decided to reset it to factory default but didn't have time to wait for it to complete but came home from work to see that evidently when the backup was restoring the current software version it did cause a BSD and I'm not sure if it cycled or how many times but the laptop did seem to have locked up in an inbetween state so I depowered it and spent a few hours trying to get the ipod to be syncing again.
So yea it's wierd....there's something about the new software version because the original factory settings never conflicted and when the ipod was locked up, there was no error, but when the restoration restored back up to the original set of icons, it errored the computer.
    Any ideas???

oh I forgot, when I reported the critical error to M$, my Firefox popped up with a page saying the stop error was to a camera driver...that's even further confusing.

  • Stop Errors in Windows XP with K7N2-ILSR....need help!

    Hello,
i recently received  a replacement for a K2N2-ILSR mobo and i am still having BIG problems with it. With the first mobo, installation of Windows XP w/SP1 simply would not complete. The installation kept crashing and STOP ERRORS like 0x8E, 0x0A would appear and random points of the process (i tried to install them more than 20 times). The CPU was an XP 1800+ and memory was 2 DDR400 sticks of not so good quality (cheapest i could find...at that point i did not know that the mobo was so picky with memory). The Graphics card is a FX5200. PSU was 350W. When i checked the system BIOS i show a CPU temperature reading of 85 degrees! Of course, the CPU was nowhere around 45 at that moment (which i verified by testing it on another mobo). I suspected that the motherboard was faulty and returned it. In the meantime, i figured out about these issues with Nforce2 and memory, so i decided to upgrade everything. I bought a Barton XP 2500+, 2 Crucial DDR400 256MB sticks and a new Enermax 450W PSU. I tried them on the new mobo, but guess what...XP w/SP1 still did not install! I finally tried to install XP w/out SP1 and everything worked fine! Or so i thought so....after 3 weeks of working with it i STILL get STOP errors, mainly 0x0A and 0x8E.
    Could anybody PLEASE help me?
    Thank you very much,

  • HP Pavilion P7 Win 7 Stop Error using HP Recovery disks on new HD

Hard drive failed on this computer. Got a new, same size hard drive and ordered the recovery disks from HP. Should be easy, IS easy with EVERY other manufacturer by HP.  Put in disk one, boot to it. It starts, loads files, Windows 7 Screen, then Stop error, c000021a The initial session process or system process terminated unexpectedly...
The drive is fine. I tried formatting it. Same issue. I tried IDE, ACHI, Raid, same issue.  I know there's some ridiculous trick. If someone could point me to it, that'd be great.

Neither is a useless waste of time, or Forum geek with nothing better to do with his time but waste others, and try and justify their miserable lives.  Unfortunately, it's clowns like you that give these forums the bad name they have.  I'm sorry if we're not here to entertain you, or give you something to do from your mom's basement in between Far Cry matches, but some of us have lives, aren't morons, and would like to just have their issues resolved without dealing with childish imbeciles.  Here's a clue for you. The ONLY thing worse than no info is BAD info.  If you have nothing by BAD or USELESS info to give, do yourself and EVERYONE else a favor and JUST SHUT UP. NOBODY asked for you to respond, and NOBODY is interested in your admonishments or baloney
