When trying to upgrade to 10049 I get the error:
There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help - (0x80070522)
Keep in mind that I have followed all instructions from before where I had to leave the domain my laptop is on, and that has worked in the past, but this build 9926, no matter what I do I cannot get past that error.. I am using admin local account dis-joined
from domain, and this errors out every single time at around 14%. Also my technical preview account is logged in.. maybe I should log that out?
PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hi SoCoJosh,
0x80070522 indicates that the C: Drive can't be written by the Update files.
Have you modified any permission part of your C: Drive?
Alos you may check Event Viewer, and the setupact.log file. Find the file under:
$windows.~bt\Sources\Panther
Make sure we have the shown hidden files checked and the
Hide protected unchecked under folder options:
Also, if available, find your WindowsUpdate.log as well, then upload them into OneDrive and post the shared link here. We will help to take a look.
How to read the Windowsupdate.log file
Best regards

Error 0x80070522 at 55% while upgrading to Window 8.1 Pro
I am trying to upgrade from Window 8 to 8.1 since 11 Nov. I have attempted all the suggestion found in this forum and also sought HP assistance but the problem is yet to be solved. The upgrade fails at 55% (i.e that is after compatibility check) and returns
error code 0x80070522.
I did post my problem in another thread but was suggested to start a new thread. \
Thanks.Hi,
The error(0x80042565 VDS_E_INVALID_PARTITION_TYPE) means that the specified partition type is not valid for this operation.
I suggest you backup all your file firstly.
Meanwhile, please perform the following steps to repair the partition.

Overwritten temp folder / drive permissions
Hello,
I have this annoying issue with windows 8.1, my temp folder permission is changed periodically (like once a month or so) and I have to change it back manually, but I don't know what and why is doing this.
And right now this issue is grown, When I'm trying to copy or save a file to my secondary HDD a Windows allert pops up saying something like this: A required privilege is not held by the client (0X80070522)
Than I looked up the permissions and the Authenticated User was blanked out none of the checkboxes were checked
The funny thing is that Windows put the boot to that drive and haf of my softwares are also there and still something was able to change permissions (and or Ownership),
I would think Windows protects the MBR more.
So, I would like to know how can I resolve this and get my rights back to my HDD and find what is messing with my folder and drive permissions. Oh and is that right that the owner on that drive is TrustedInstaller because on my other drive Administrators
are the owner?
And please don't say to delete my user account because I use a lots of software which needs configuration (like IIS, MySQL, etc..) and right now I don't have a day or two to reconfigure everything.Hi,
For this issue, please reset the security settings on your system from the following article.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313222
Note:This article is for windows vista and let us test if it works Windows 8.1.
Just run in a evalated prompt the following command.
secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose
If the issue persists, please reset all permissions, run this command:
icacls * /reset /t /c /q

Hyper-V Virtual machine disappeared
Hello,
I am running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. I have the Hyper-V role installed with to virtual machines. I rebooted yesterday after windows updates loaded and now one of my virtual machine have disappeared. I have run through hours of technet
forums trying to find the answer and have come up empty.
I checked ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows|Hyper-V\Virtual Machines and the symbolic link is gone. I tried to recreat it using the mklink command, but every time I recreate the symbolic link to the .xml it comes back as a link to a file folder.
I checked the acl on the virtual machine .xml on my D: drive and the GUID SID is missing. I also tried to add it back via the iacls command but it doesn't seem to exist.
After all that, I decided to recreate the entire virtual machine, but now I can't create virtual machines. I get teh following error:
"Failed to create external configuration store at 'folder path': A required privilege is not held by the client. (Virtual machine ID 0x80070522)"
After that error I opend azman.msc and verified that the initalstore.xml has the administrators group in it.
I do not know what else I can do from here. Any help would be appreciated.Hi Jumar2,
This will help others who are fighting with similar issues.

In-place upgrade from Server 2012 to 2012R2 is failing
Hello,
I'm trying tu upgrade a VM from Windows server 2012 to Windows Server 2012 R2, but the upgrade is failing with an error message "Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation.
Error code 0x80070522"
The VM i'm trying to upgrade has SQL server 2012 and some related tools installed
The VM is running on a Windows server 2012 Hyper-V host
I have tried a few different installation media, downloaden from the MS licensing site and from MSDN, but all give the same problem.
After searching for logs i found these relevant messages in C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.log

Can anyone help me with this issue?
Regards,
TomYes, domain admins are members of the local administrator group when the macine is joined to a domain, but the opposite is not true. Local admins are not necessarily members of the domain admins group.

Tim,
Yes i Understand that a local administrator is not always a domain administrator, but i think this has nothing to do with my problem.
To be sure i have logged in to this server with the local administrator user and started the upgrade again. As expected I got the same error message, so this is nog a permissions problem.
Can somebody who can help me to solve this probleem?

SCCM Server: OS and SCCM version are 2012 R2

in for you to do some testing.
I am guessing as this is applied to your servers and workstations, based on what you have said, that this setting resides in your Default Domain Policy GPO. Which is possibly the exact issue that Hai Deep had in the post Jórgen posted here
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/83b11a23-24ec-46b1-9a5f-52d335dc92b5/unable-to-create-task-sequence-media-privilege-not-held-by-client?forum=configmgrosd
The above post also says it was a user right which caused the issue, so there is a fair amount of justification to apply the test.
Is your Dev instance in the same Domain or is it a completely separate lab?
let me know if you have issues,
Thanks,
