1.0.10 Still caching in AppData

So "thank" you for reimplementing a different cache location (why was this removed to begin with?)However for me - version 1.0.10 still caches down into AppData eating up my system-drive.So right now it just looks to use twice as much cache - or split the cache between two different locations. 4 songs into a playlist and AppData has grown 50 MB.  Not to sound too ungrateful - but Is it your way to tell us to try out Apple music service or something?Because I must admit that i'm starting to tire of worse and worse UI and removal of settings that should be a mainstay in such an application.Seriously - who was the genious that agreed that caching on system drive was a good idea which is properly a smaller SSD for most people? In a data driven application?

I don't want to start rhetorical with you as it seems that you know where you're speaking of, though I ask if you have tried to remove (maybe in this case both)-cache locations and re-install Spotify completely?Indexing with your local music, and offline playlists will be removed then. But if that would resolve your issue, why not? Here's a step-by-step guide which might help you further:Click File > Exit.Go to: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Spotify\Storage (via Start - RUN) and delete the wholle spotify folder.Press Start and then go to Control Panel.Select Programs, then Programs and Features.Select Spotify in the list and click uninstall.(Open Add/Remove Programs, select Spotify, then Change/Remove if running on Windows XP)Download and install Spotify!

  • "RT still cache is full" need to render real-time titles

    So I have this problem where at a certain point in my sequence title effects that normally don't need to be rendered suddenly do for the rest of the sequence's duration. when I hold my cursor over the red bars above the timeline is says "RT still cache is full. you can allocate more memory in the system preferences...." but when I do ( change the allocation from 10% to more than that) it either does nothing or makes the problem worse. does anyone know how to get final cut to honor it's realtime abilities with longer sequences? (I'm working with hour+ sequences that are entirely subtitled...)
    Is this a result of a 3 gig RAM limit per app? I have 6.5 gigs of RAM. thanks!

    FCE>System Settings>second panel Memory and Cache. Increase the still memory allocation.
    Also switched to Unlimited RT and live with the dropped frames.
    What format are you working in? How large are the images, the frame resolution?

  • Rendering subtitles as text clips filling still cache?

    Hi,
    I have subtitles in project. Subtitles are made as text clips then placed above video track in timeline. At some point, they require rending everytime I add one, then render line is purple rather than green. Also, on playback in the timeline, there is stutter when it gets to the clips which are purple. If I remove the subtitle track, the stutter goes away. I got a message that still cache needs to be increased. I did this by reducing the %, which does move the point at which the render line is purple out further on the timeline. This is behaving like something is full, but I don't know what the still cache is, and don't know what the % refers to. The only thing I can think of is that I have a bunch of projects saved, and that there is a cache where text files are stored as stills, and its full. I will trash my unneeded projects to see if that helps. Please advise. Thanks!

    I hope your media isn't on the laptop's internal hard drive. If it is, time to get an external firewire drive *right now*.
    Regarding the rendering, this is just the way it's going to go given your computer and using external files.
    Try setting the RT to unlimited and the quality to low. The images won't be beautiful but it should tell you how things flow. If you want to not render text material, try the internal text generators.

  • Edit-In-Place still caching media

    FCSvr system, XSAN, Edit-In-Place set for all Devices. But when FCP projects are checked out by the editors, it still loads all the video files into their local Cache. Unable to duplicate the problem on my own system. The difference is that they have some Ethernet only clients, and some Fibre clients (FCP only on Fibre clients). Why would Edit-In-Place still download the video files to local cache?
    FYI, I've set up FCSvr systems before, this is my first mixed (Fibre + Ethernet only) environment, and the first time I've seen this odd behavior.

    OK, well, there were other problems they didn't tell me about. Some video assets could be drag-and-dropped from a Projects window in FCSvr to the Browser in FCP. Others could only be done from an Assets window in FCSvr. And this had been going on since the FCSvr 1.5 upgrade.
    I attempted to change the URI, but FCSvr would simply revert back to the original every time I tried. I logged out, and the whole system seems to work fine now. Go figure.
    Anyone see any quirks with the FCSvr 1.5 upgrade?
    Now they want to upgrade everything to Snow Leopard. I'm not touching the Leopard Servers until I see a more stable SL Server!
    Still, very odd problem. Wish I knew what it was exactly. Seems playing with URI's reset something. But it all works now.

  • Increase still image cache when working only with images?

    I've been having hundreds of out of memory issues when working on a still image project. Thought it was solved but it hasnt.
    If im working totally with still images (Jpegs, Tiffs and PSD's) should I increase the Still Image cache from its default amount? I have scoured the internet trying to find out what the Still Image Cache is but cant find an explanation anywhere.
    I increased it this morning and all is well so far.....
    Might this solve my problem.

    The Still image cache is the amount of RAM assigned to the playback of the stills. That's what that slider adds... it should help to make it larger when you are working with a lot of stills. They are cached to RAM instead of being read from disk...
    From the manual:
    Still Cache: This specifies the amount of RAM used to hold still images for real-time playback. The still cache that is allocated is a percentage of the excess RAM allocated to Final Cut Pro, so adjusting the Application slider also adjusts the amount of RAM available to the still cache. The more RAM allocated to the still cache, the more still frames can be played back in real time in the currently selected sequence. If another sequence is opened, the contents of the still cache are replaced with stills from the new sequence. If there is no excess RAM available, this slider is dimmed.

  • Crystal Report Caching(?) Problem

    Post Author: cfernald
    CA Forum: General
    We have a web app that launches Crystal Reports (version 10) in the crystal reports viewer that plugs into IE (version 6.0). The whole thing is managed by Crystal Enterprise Server.
    The problem: You launch a report and let's say it shows you 10 lines of data on the report. You perform some activity in the application that updates the database such that an 11 lines should appear on the report. However, when you run the report again (after closing the IE session from the first viewing) you only see 10 lines (while expecting 11).
    There's a little "dance" I do to "clear cache":  I hit the "Refresh Report" icon (the "lightening bolt" icon), close the browser and then relaunch the report.  This seems to tell the report to re-read the database rather than use the data that was previously retrieved.
    Clearly the results are being cached somewhere - can someone point to where I might look to control that behavior?

    Ok, I did some additional research and learned all about how CR has a CacheServer that can be controlled through the Crystal Management Console. Specifically there is a setting for the CacheServer named: "Oldest on-demand data given to a client" which is expressed as a number of minutes. From the manual:
    This value controls how long report pages and prompt pages can stay in the cache. Once an object has been in the cache for the given number of minutes, it is aged out of the cache and there will be no further cache hits for this object. The default setting is 0 u2013 which means that no prompt pages or report pages will be server from cache. For optimal prompting performance, we recommend setting this value to the largest possible value without impacting data currency. For example, if the data that your reports access changes only once a day, then you can probably set this value to be 8 hours (or 480 minutes). If the data that your reports access changes every 5 seconds, and your report consumers need to see current data, then this value should be set to 0.
    Based on the last sentence above, I want this value set to zero to meet our reporting needs.  However, after setting it to zero and restarting everything, I still see cache entries in the CacheServer directory and Crystal is still caching report data.
    What am I missing?

  • Using a hashmap for caching -- performance problems

    Hello!
    1) DESCRIPTION OF MY PROBLEM:
    I was planing to speed up computations in my algorithm by using a caching-mechanism based on a Java HashMap. But it does not work. In fact the performance decreased instead.
    My task is to compute conditional probabilities P(result | event), given an event (e.g. "rainy day") and a result of a measurement (e.g. "degree of humidity").
    2) SITUATION AS AN EXCERPT OF MY CODE:
    Here is an abstraction of my code:
    ====================================================================================================================================
    int numOfevents = 343;
    // initialize cache for precomputed probabilities
    HashMap<String,Map<String,Double>> precomputedProbabilities = new HashMap<String,Map<String,Double>>(numOfEvents);
    // Given a combination of an event and a result, test if the conditional probability has already been computed
    if (this.precomputedProbability.containsKey(eventID)) {
    if (this.precomputedProbability.get(eventID).containsKey(result)) {
    return this.precomputedProbability.get(eventID).get(result);
    } else {
    // initialize a new hashmap to maintain the mappings
    Map<String,Double> resultProbs4event = new HashMap<String,Double>();
    precomputedProbability.put(eventID,resultProbs4event);
    // unless we could use the above short-cut via the cache, we have to really compute the conditional probability for the specific combination of the event and result
    * make the necessary computations to compute the variable "condProb"
    // store in map
    precomputedProbabilities.get(eventID).put(result, condProb);
    ====================================================================================================================================
    3) FINAL COMMENTS
    After introducing this cache-mechanism I encountered a severe decrease in performance of my algorithm. In total there are over 94 millions of combinations for which the conditional probabilities have to be computed. But there is a lot of redundancy in this set of feasible combinations. Basically it can be brought down to just about 260.000 different combinations that have to be captured in the caching structure. Therefore I expected a significant increase of the performance.
    What do I do wrong? Or is the overhead of a nested HashMap so severe? The computation of the conditional probabilities only contains basic operations.
    Only for those who are interested in more details
    4) DEEPER CONSIDERATION OF THE PROCEDURE
    Each defined event stores a list of associated results. These results lists include 7 items on average. To actually compute the conditional probability for a combination of an event and a result, I have to run through the results list of this event and perform an Java "equals"-operation for each list item to compute the relative frequency of the result item at hand. So, without using the caching, I would estimate to perform on average:
    7 "equal"-operations (--> to compute the number of occurences of this result item in a list of 7 items on average)
    plus
    1 double fractions (--> to compute a relative frequency)
    for 94 million combinations.
    Considering the computation for one combination (event, result) this would mean to compare the overhead of the look-up operations in the nested HashMap with the computational cost of performing 7 "equal' operations + one double fration operation.
    I would have expected that it should be less expensive to perform the lookups.
    Best regards!

    Hello!
    Thank you very much! I have performed several optimization steps. But still caching is slower than without caching. This may be due to the fact, that the eventID and results all share long common prefixes. I am not sure how this affects the computation of the values of the hash method.
    * Attention: result and eventID are given as input of the method
    Map<String,Map<String,Double>> precomputedProbs = new HashMap<String,Map<String,Double>>(1200);
    HashMap<String,Double> results2probs = (HashMap<String,Double>)this.precomputedProbs.get(eventID);
    if (results2Probs != null) {
           Double prob = results2Probs.get(result);
           if (prob != null) {
                 return prob;
    } else {
           // so far there are no conditional probs for the annotated results of this event
           // initialize a new hashmap to maintain the mappings
           results2Probs = new HashMap<String,Double>(2000);
           precomputedProbs.put(eventID,results2Probs);
    * Later, in case of the computation of the conditional probability... use the initialized map to save one "get"-operation on "precomputedProbs"
    // the variable results2probs still holds a reference to the inner HashMap<String,Double> entry of the HashMap  "precomputedProbs"
    results2probs.put(result, condProb);And... because it was asked for, here is the computation of the conditional probability in detail:
    * Attention: result and eventID are given as input of the method
    // the computed conditional probabaility
    double condProb = -1.0;
    ArrayList resultsList = (ArrayList<String>)this.eventID2resultsList.get(eventID);
    if (resultsList != null) {
                // listSize is expected to be about 7 on average
                int listSize = resultsList.size();
                // sanity check
                if (listSize > 0) {
                    // check if given result is defined in the list of defined results
                    if (this.definedResults.containsKey(result)) {
                        // store conditional prob. for the specific event/result combination
                        // Analyze the list for matching results
                        for (int i = 0; i < listSize; i++) {
                            if (result.equals(resultsList.get(i))) {
                                occurrence_count++;
                        if (occurrence_count == 0) {
                            condProb = 0.0;
                        } else {
                            condProb = ((double)occurrence_count) / ((double)listSize);
                        // the variable results2probs still holds a reference to the inner HashMap<String,Double> entry of the HashMap  "precomputedProbs"
                        results2probs.put(result, condProb);
                        return condProb;
                    } else {
                        // mark that result is not part of the list of defined results
                        return -1.0;
                } else {
                    throw new NullPointerException("Unexpected happening. Event " + eventID + " contains no result definitions.");
            } else {
                throw new IllegalArgumentException("unknown event ID:"+ eventID);
            }I have performed tests on a decreased data input set. I processed only 100.000 result instances, instead of about 250K. This means there are 343 * 100K = 34.300K = 34M calls of my method per each iteration of the algorithm. I performed 20 iterations. With caching it took 8 min 5 sec, without only 7 min 5 sec.
    I also tried to profile the lookup-operations for the HashMaps, but they took less than a ms. The same as with the operations for computing the conditional probability. So regarding this, there was no additional insight from comparing the times on ms level.

  • I'm thinking of backing up my ipod and then reseting it, but theres a really interesting game I have been plaing in it for a long time, If I backup my device then reset it then send the backup back to my iPod, will I still have the game data?

    I'm really afraid of tring to do this since i spent $20 dollars on game updates. So if I backup my ipod then reset it then send the backup back, will I still have the appdata? (By refering to this I don't mean the app itself, but the stuff inside the app) Thank you and I hope I get a quick answer.

    If you restore from backup your app date will also be restored to the time you made the backup. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup. If the apps are not in the iTunes library there is not place for the app data to go when you restore from backup.

    solve the problem?
    Any thoughts , pls help.
    Thanks

    It's not working because this change only causes the server side to reload the resource. The browser still has it cached, so it ignores it.
    What you have to do is send HTTP headers along with the response that convinces the browser not to cache the resource. One way to do this is to implement a servlet filter that injects the appropriate HTTP headers to cause this.
    The code for the class could look like this (I haven't declared it in a package, but you should):
    import java.io.IOException;
    import javax.servlet.Filter;
    import javax.servlet.FilterChain;
    import javax.servlet.FilterConfig;
    import javax.servlet.ServletException;
    import javax.servlet.ServletRequest;
    import javax.servlet.ServletResponse;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse;
    public class NoCachingFilter implements Filter
         private FilterConfig filterConfig = null;
         public void destroy()
              this.filterConfig = null;
         public void init(FilterConfig arg0) throws ServletException
              this.filterConfig = filterConfig;
         public void doFilter(ServletRequest request,
                                  ServletResponse response,
                                  FilterChain chain)
         throws IOException, ServletException
         HttpServletResponse httpResponse = (HttpServletResponse) response;
         httpResponse.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache");
         httpResponse.setDateHeader("Expires", 0);
         httpResponse.setHeader("Pragma", "No-cache");
         chain.doFilter(request, response);
    You would declare this filter in your web.xml like this:
    <filter>
    <filter-name>No Caching Filter</filter-name>
    <filter-class>carousel.NoCachingFilter</filter-class>
    </filter>
    <filter-mapping>
    <filter-name>No Caching Filter</filter-name>
    <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>

  • Disable IP caching

    I'm attempting to disable IP caching for my Web Start application. I would like to do this automatically so the end user does not need to manually modify a properties file.
    In the application, I have the line:
    java.security.Security.setProperty("networkaddress.cache.ttl" , "0");When I run this as a standalone application, it works fine. But if I include this in a jar and launch as a Web Start application, it no longer works. The property is set as expected, but the initial IP address is still cached.
    I have attempted to set this property in other ways too, such as:
    - Setting the property in the jnlp file. For example:

        </resources>- Setting the analogous Sun-specific property (sun.net.inetaddr.ttl) in the jnlp file
    - Prepending "java.security." to the names of these properties
    - Setting the property in the code using System.setProperty()
    - Setting the property as a jvm argument in the jnlp. For example:
    <j2se version="1.4+" href="http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se" java-vm-args="-Dnetworkaddress.cache.ttl=0"/>- Setting this property on the javaws command-line
    - Using the command-line:
    "javaws -userConfig deployment.javaws.secure.properties networkaddress.cache.ttl"
    with networkaddress.cache.ttl specified in the jnlp
    Please let me know if you have any recommendations.
    Thank you.

    I tried that and it seems like my arguments that I put into my JNLP file are not being passed to the JVM. I tried a few things, none of which seem to show up in the pop up box that is displayed. I tried:
      <j2se version="1.5.0+" href="http://java.sun.com/products/auto\
    dl/j2se" java-vm-args="-Xms77m -Xmx256m -Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=10 -Dnetworkaddress.cache.ttl=10 "/>and also
    <property name="sun.net.inetaddr.ttl" value="10"/>
    <property name="networkaddress.cache.ttl" value="10"/>I know you only need to set one of these, but I was just trying both just in case.
    Neither of these show up in the arguments to the JVM.
    I found one way to make this work, but it is quite ugly. If I define the JAVAWS_VM_ARGS environment variable on my local machine to have the timeout, then everything works as expected. However, this is not a very attractive option. I can't tell all the users to manually add this environment variable.
    There has to be a better way. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Caching in OBIEE

    Hi everyone,
    This should be an easy question.
    I know there are two levels of caching in OBIEE: the Presentation Server level and the BI Server level.
    I made a report that shows the last time the warehouse is refreshed, and I want to ensure that it's always accurate (i.e. it should never cache the results).
    My question is this, how do I force the report to always refresh based from the data in the database?
    The data for the report is stored in an AUDIT table in the database. In the RPD, I set that table, and its corresponding dimensional table as not cachable (unchecked the "Cacheable" box). That should stop the BI Server from caching.
    Will the Presentation server still cache the report? Or does it also know not to cache it since I set the physical table to not cache?
    Thanks for the help!
    -Joe

    You have done the BI Server part. Now for the presentations server part, go to report advanced tab (in answers) and check the 'bypass ps server cache' box.
    You can also place some script in dashboard to auto refresh page.

  • Disable caching for dynamic pages

              How do you set up a directory that is not cached by weblogic?
              I have a servlet which generates Images (to this directory) and then the images are
              displayed as part of the HTML.
              Work ok on testsystem (which is WL 6.0/ NT) but doesn't work on Solaris / WL 6.1
              - it appears as though on startup, the WL Server caches dir contents and becomes
              unaware of new entries?

    I don't believe that is possible.
    Instead of 2 Bundles, you could create a System Requirement on the
    Distribution Action so that it does not distribute on VDI machines.
    Then for the Launch Actions, do something similar so it launches the
    local or network copy depending on if it was VDI or not.

  • Performance Testing While Caching?

    Fellas,
    I am doing performance optimization tasks on oracle DB 10G R2 running on Red Hat Linux.
    The problem is that whenever I run the query twice or more, oracle caches it, and I can no Longer see the delays in execution times.
    I tried to clear the cache (this is Dev environment) but query execution times behaved as if the execution plans are still cached.
    Any insight, please?

    Any insight, please?If you are doing performance optimization, why do you not want caching? Don't you want to optimize the access to data, whether it is cached or not? User perceived execution time is a reason to investigate performance, but it is difficult to map a development execution time to real world performance. That's why people say things like minimize consistent gets or concentrate on logical I/O.
    So if you are investigating how to maximize getting data from a disk to the SGA, because you have infrequent unique queries, do that. Multiblock reads or not bothering with the SGA may be your friend. If you have data that is getting flushed out of the SGA even though it is being accessed moderately frequently, check the SGA advisor and consider the KEEP pool. If you don't know where the caching is occurring - it could be the SGA, OS user buffers, controller cache, SAN cache - you need to either figure it out or ignore it.
    Perhaps if you told us how exactly you are "doing performance optimization tasks" we could give better advice.
    Oracle purposefully reuses execution plans - this avoids much worse performance problems from hard parsing creating new ones. There are situations where this is bad (google the bind peeking problem). If you want a new execution plan, give a different query. Comments are useful for that, as well as being something to look for in the sql area.

  • Don't firefox ofusers of my site cache my site pages

    HTTP Header
    Cache-Control: private, no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate
    was used but still caching the page. I can view even authenticated pages by using work offline.
    please <b>help

    Hi intercept0r,
    Please run some tests with this add on [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/modify-headers/ Modify Headers] with your site. I think that this may have to do with that you have put all of the parameters with no specifications.
    For example:
    Cache-Control "max-age=3600, must-revalidate"
    must revalidate usually needs a time set
    Check out this for more details [http://www.mobify.com/blog/beginners-guide-to-http-cache-headers/]
    However it may also be that we can test in the Web Inspector what may be changing from the response header to the no-cache, no-store headers.
    I look forward to your reply!
