1.1.3 Broke Ford Sync Bluetooth

Both my iPhone and my wife's iPhone no longer work with our Ford Sync after the update. Hours on the phone with 2 support techs at ATT -> Apple during which my wife's phone was reset, was restored, was hard rebooted, none of these fixed the problem. No matter what, if the phone connects, it disconnects in seconds, or never connects. My phone does the same as hers does, but I haven't tried all the things she tried as I assumed it would not help. A visit to the Apple store was no help. Their answer was to report it at feedback.apple.com, which is odd as it requires credentials I do not have. Anybody have this problem and solved it?

It is an Apple problem and one that I hope Apple recognizes and fixes. I know there is no love between Microsoft and Apple and Microsoft partnered with Ford to develop and integrate SYNC. However, hopefully Apple realizes that a lot of folks are buying Ford products with Sync (on some Lincoln models, it is now standard and with all the TV ad hype, you have to believe that lots of folks bying Ford Focus and Fusion models will add it).
It should be a simple fix for Apple but since they seem to not release very small, incremental updates but wait for more major ones, it may be a while.

  • Iphone 6 and Ford Sync Bluetooth Does Not Work

Brand new iPhone 6 paired with My Ford Sync in a 2014 Escape.
Bad news, the bluetooth phone features simply do not work.  You can initiate a call form the Sync and the phone will dial and connect, but 5 seconds into the call the bluetooth disconnects the phone audio and returns you to your radio or whatever source you were listening to.
The call appears to remain active on the iPhone but you can't access it.
Sure hope Apple or Microsoft/Ford step up to fix this soon it is a real show stopper.
Nothing like in the field beta testing.

I had a similar problem with my 2011 Ford Fusion and brand new iPhone 6 received yesterday.  I restored my iPhone 5 to my new iPhone 6 when I received it.  My iPhone 6 has the same device name as the iPhone 5 did.  I was able to pair my iPhone 6 with Sync easily, but Sync would only ring on incoming calls.  I could not answer the incoming call or initiate calls through Sync.  I was able to correct the problem this morning by:
    1) Forgetting This Device (Sync) in the Bluetooth application in the iPhone 6,
    2) Deleting All Devices in the Sync Phone Bluetooth menu.
    3) Re-pairing the iPhone 6 with Sync.
Apparently the same phone name stored in Sync from the iPhone 5 was corrupting the settings for the iPhone 6 using the same device name.
I hope this helps.  Good luck!

  • Ford Sync & Bluetooth Settings

    Hi!
I've only had Sync for a couple of weeks, so forgive me for being a newbie. I setup my iPhone 4 perfectly, playing music through USB and phone services through Bluetooth. The other day, I decided to listen to music through Bluetooth, and ever since then, my iPhone defaults to playing through Bluetooth every time I start my car. The biggest problem is that I have to then manually go on my iPhone and tell it to send audio through the Dock Connector.
How do I fix this? I want the Dock to be the preferred option, not Bluetooth audio.
    Thanks!
    -Eric

Well.. I just hit the voice command, said "Bluetooth Audio," then play. You can control the music through your iPhone then (as you would if you were listening through headphones).
Also, you'll notice a Bluetooth symbol next to the volume bar, if you tap that, a Bluetooth output menu appears. If you're not docked, it should say "SYNC" and "Speaker." Select "SYNC." When it's docked, it'll say "SYNC" or "Dock Connector." That's where mine defaults to "SYNC," but I want it to default to "Dock Connector."
    I hope that helps you.

  • Trying to hook up Bluetooth to my ford sync

I have an iPhone 5. Trying to hook up to my ford sync. It is not working. My phone just does not pick up any devices. Just keeps searching. I checked my Bluetooth settings in my car and they are all good. Then I reset phone and Bluetooth connection on both, but no luck. I have the same issue with my iPad mini.

With further research I have found that the sync system only works with certain phones and certain carriers. I have a t-mobile iPhone 5.  Since this phone is new to the carrier it has not been made compatible with the sync system. ... Weird because it shows that it will work with this phone if it was from AT&T, Vernon, or sprint.

  • Problems bluetooth streatming music from iPhone 4 to Ford Sync

Last week I purchased a 2011 Ford with the Ford Sync feature.  On the first day having the car, I was able to pair my iPhone 4 and my iPad successfully.  However, I realized while streaming music via bluetooth from my iPhone that the next/back/play/pause buttons weren't working.  So I upgraded my iPhone to v4.3.2.  That fixed the buttons.  But the next day the Sync system essentially froze.  Customer Support told me to pull the fuse which did fix it.  However, I had a problem the next day with the phone not being able to connect.  I turned off the auto download phonebook feature and the phone has connected consistently ever since.  BUT - now I can no longer stream music via bluetooth from my iPhone.  When I go into the Media screen and select bluetooth devices, it sees my iPhone is arleady connected. But it won't stream my music - nothing, nada.  I can still stream music from the iPad via bluetooth and that has never stopped working.  Any thoughts?

The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The iphone is not a backup/storage device.  it simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which you sync.
The exception is itunes purchases.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
In some countries you can redownload some itunes purchases.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Anyone noted Bluetooth connection issues with iPhone 4s and Ford sync?

My wifes iPhone 4 with IOS 5.0.1 auto connects to Ford Sync at least 75% of the time on first attempt. My new iPhone 4S with IOS 5.0.1 takes 4-5 attempts and rarely if ever connects without multiple attempts. Any one else seeing issues with failed Bluetooth connections with iPhone 4S phones?

Look at the right panel for links to other threads concerning problems with Fords. And it's not just Fords, cars in general.  No solutions seem to be given.

  • With new upgrade, can I play music to Ford sync with bluetooth?

The new upgrade 3.0 is fantastic. Can I play music on the Ford Sync system or do I need the 3G?
    Thanks for your advice.
    Best,
    Tom

the original iphone, even with the 3.0 OS does not support the A2DP bluetooth profile... therefor you can not stream audio to the sync. you can however USB it to the sync and copy music over (I think) I don't have a sync, but wish I did...

  • Does iOS 5 support the Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP) for interacting with text messages in Ford Sync?

I'd sure love to take advantage of Ford Sync's ability to read aloud and let me interact with bluetooth text messages by voice.  I had heard rumours that iOS 5 was going to support the Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP) like other phone manufacturers, but in my latest update I received while testing and reading other non-Apple sites, that appears not to be the case.
Is this something I'd have to upgrade to the iPhone 4S to otherwise get?
It's not Siri I'm interested in, just this particular feature to allow the phone to interact with my vehicle.  If there's a 3rd party app out there that helps I'm open to that idea too.  Thinking about what my next smart phone's going to be with LTE, and this is weighing in on my decision, lots of enterprise users out there with Ford as their company fleet vehicle too (hint hint!).  A nice way to save lives too for those who refuse to not read/reply to texts while driving (I'm not in that club, but many are).
    Kind Regards,
    Brian

For the public record, here's the feedback I submitted based on Allan's suggestion.  Thank you both, guess I'll just cross my fingers and hope others share their feedback in a positive way to Apple too.
I'd sure love to take advantage of Ford Sync's ability to read aloud and let me interact with bluetooth text messages by voice.  However it requires phones to support the Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP) like Android and other phone manufacturers.
Humbly requesting this is something that gets added to a future iOS update.
It's not Siri I'm interested in, just this particular feature to allow the phone to interact with my vehicle by using the vehicles embedded voice and heads-up display commands.
    Advantages:
    (1) Gives one less reason for Apple people to stray to Google
    (2) Saves lives too for those who refuse to not read/reply to texts while driving
    (3) Keeps drivers behaving legally (outside of common sense, many provinces and states have enacted laws to try and protect people against themselves)
    (4) A critical enterprise feature if Apple is attempting to continue to break into that market, most fortune 500 companies that have employees using fleet vehicles use Ford, but frankly other manufacturers coming to market with these features too.
Thanks for consideration around this feature.  If you'd like to understand the use-case more or be pointed to threads in the discussion forum and 3rd party websites begging for this feature, happy to discuss.
    Kind Regards,
    Brian R. Kneebone

  • Ford sync no longer works.

After updating my iphone 5 to ios 6.1, it no longer works with my Ford Sync in my car. The phone does not play audio anymore while connected via USB. Audio doesnt play from any apps nor from the ipod through the car stereo. Same if I connect it via the bluetooth audio stream option. The only thing that still works is calling using the phone and that streams through the speakers fine. The software on my car is fully updated also.

I forgot to add in that I already did that. I re-paired both profiles (usb and BT) to no avail. After doing that I also reset the Sync system and deleted all the data. This also did not work. It just says connecting now and doesnt go away.
I also tried the "sync my itunes" app from syncmyride.com. That also did not work

  • My 4th gen iPod Touch does not work with Ford sync since updating OS

When I updated my iPod to the new os, it does not work with my ford sync system anymore. how do I fix this?

Have lots of issues with Fords MySync and here's some info that might help....
Using ford sync interface, goto the phone section, then settings, and look if your iPhones name is listed, if so select the phone name thru sync interface and remove/delete it from the sync list, then go thru the Bluetooth pairing process again.
If that doesn't work, do the same on the iPhone, select ford sync entry in Bluetooth and remove sync or forget this device on the iPhone and then go thru Bluetooth pairing again.
If that doesn't work Power off iphone ( not sleep) hold power button till you see red slider to power off. Then restart iphone, try pairing up again.
If that doesn't work go back to MySync and goto phone settings and use the up-down slider till you see sync master reset. Confirm then go thru BT pairing again.
If that doesn't work there is a fuse for the my sync system. Fuse box is usually behind kick panel of front passenger seat side for the Mustang #3, its behind a paper black cover. Remove fuse for 5-30 secs then replace.
Lastly, make sure your MySync Firmware is the latest vers. Mines 4.0.2 goto fords MySync support page to check
    http://www.ford.com/syncmyride/
    or call 1-800-392-3673 Opt 3
A google search might help for your model and year if not a newer mustang and you couldn't get to ford.
    Good Luck

  • HT204387 When trying to add text notifications on my iphone 5 Through my Ford sync all pages tell me to open settings, click on the sync when it is pair with the car and there should be a Turn on Notifications slide but there is not.  Please help.

I heard that Ford Sync now allows the user to have text message notifications appear on the dash board.  I have looked up how to do so, the instructions say on our phone click on settings-Bluetooth-when paired with the sync click on sync and there should be a slide option that says turn notifications on.  I am using an Iphone 5 with the latest operating system and I do not have a Turn notifications on stting in my bluetooth.  Please help

Resetting Network Settings means that the saved password that enabled your iPhone to connect to your WiFi router was erased. You are now reentering that password. Most likely you are entering the password incorrectly or are entering an old password or the wrong password.
Check that the password that you are using is absolutely, positively, the correct and current password for your router. Make sure that you are not confused l with 1, O with 0, etc.

  • Not working correctly, not connecting to ford sync since 3.1.2

I have a first gen ipod touch and ever since I downloaded 3.1.2, i get a messed up screen sometimes while playing music and my ipod will not connect to my sync in my edge anymore. any tips?

Apparently this is a problem with the iPhone 3.1 OS not working with Ford Sync. I have a Ford Fusion and I have had problems ever since updating my iPhone to 3.0.
    From Ford:
If your device has been updated to Apple firmware version 3.1 (or greater), then you will experience an INDEXING concern which may limit functionality of the device with SYNC, including longer indexing times (e.g., 30 minutes). Note: Earlier versions of the iPhone firmware are not affected. The Ford SYNC Team is aware and has been in communication with the Apple team regarding the concern. We will post an updated response once more information is known. We appreciate your patience and would like to offer the following recommendations for continued usage of SYNC and your device:
-Use the AutoPlay feature. SYNC will still playback content on the device that is on the "Now Playing" list of the device. Media control will be limited to the Play, Pause, Next and Previous Track.
-If the device supports Bluetooth Audio, connect to the device with SYNC BT Audio/Media Stream. Media control will be limited to Play, Pause, but can also be controlled directly on the device.
-Use the Line In input to connect to the device headphone audio jack. The media will need to be controlled on the device directly.
-Transfer unprotected contents to a USB flash drive. SYNC supports playback with full media control of iTunes formatted unprotected media.
-Allow some additional time for the device to index.
If you have any additional questions, you may also contact our SYNC Support team via chat, e-mail, or phone. Thanks.

  • Last update does not work with Ford Sync with Applink

Spotify has been working all right with the Ford Sync with applink in my car (C-MAX, late 2014). However, with the last update of the Spotify app from Play Store, just a few days ago, it has stopped working, because it is not detected by the car. Even when manually searching for applink enabled applications, it can't be found. It' really a pity, because it had worked perfectly until now, and it is a really impressive feature which I would definitely like to use again.
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3 mini, with Android 4.3 and the latest version of the Spotify app (2.2.0.636). I am a premium user from Spain.

Our current situation is that my wife's phone connects via the AppLink to Spotify and shows track listings but doesn't allow shuffling or playlists to be displayed, she controls it via the phone if she wants to change playlists. My phone has connected once since I first posted to Spotify which came up with "Spotify powered by Ford" on my phone screen and allowed me to do absolutely everything you desired via the Spotify AppLink and "froze" all interactions directly with the phone, absolutely everything!!! Now it is back to not even detecting Spotify so have to connect via BT Audio. It has been like this for several months now however the most recent update (last week?) means that I now get track info up on the display! Twice however the display showed the first track only and once that finished and the next began, the display still showed the original track. Ironically at the same time, our 2010 Focus also began showing the correct track info on the display, this is the first time in the whole 5 years we've owned the car that my phone has displayed track info on the Focus, my wife's phone has always done it! I have found out that although we both have Samsung S3s that we got via carphone warehouse on the same day, hers is always one software update behind mine so never has the most recent OS. Strangely though, when I last updated my OS she also had notification to upgrade, she did, and she still is one behind me! I think there is something far more sinister in all of this but at least I get my tunes in the car, if not in the most desired way.
My overall opinion is that it is a great system if you have the right OS/phone it works great (I know someone with a 2015 model having the same issue with their i-Phone) however the continuing upgrading of OS and App means that the system isn't always compatible and never will be until they allow auto-upgrading via the Bluetooth connection and therefore phone internet connection in the UK. Apparently the US models all allow you to download the most recent software for the radio onto a USB stick and just plug it in to upgrade. Annoying.

  • How does the newest Iphone work with Ford Sync?

How does the new Iphone work with Ford Sync? I was thinking of purchasing the 4s but may go elsewhere if there is a better phone for the equipment in my vehicle.

That would be a NO.. I should have done my homework before I switched to IPhone because the Bluetooth just does not want to sync with my Ford Truck. Its such an inconvience. But I see from other posts that Ford isn't the only car experiencing problems. So Hopefully Apple fixes this problem QUICKLY!
