1.1.4, Bluetooth, and Multipoint Headsets

So I have a Bluetooth question.
I currently own two Bluetooth headsets: A Plantronics 510 (Bluetooth 1.x), and a Jabra BT5010 (Bluetooth 2.0). Both supposedly support multiple device connections, but my understanding is that it's kind of a 'hack' with Bluetooth 1.x, but something that's in the spec for Bluetooth 2.0.
I use both of these headsets with my iPhone (1.1.4 now) and a Jabra deskphone adapter so I can use the same headset for both phones. Several times a day I'll leave my headset sitting on my desk and walk to other cubes with my iPhone in my pocket, which is far enough and long enough for the headset to disconnect from the phone (i.e. the Bluetooth icon on top goes gray instead of white).
The Jabra BT5010 headset always reconnects when I get back to my desk, which I think is because it's Bluetooth 2.0. However, if I'm using the Plantronics headset, once the iPhone drops the connection, the headset won't reconnect unless I re-pair with the iPhone. Neither headset seems to have problems re-pairing with the deskphone adapter if I take the headset out of its range, though.
My coworker has the same headsets and deskphone adapter, but he has a Motorola q9 instead of an iPhone. However, he doesn't seem to have the same problem--when his q9 comes back within range of the headset, the Plantronics will reconnect.
Has anyone been successful using a Plantronics Multipoint headset with the iPhone, and having it reconnect after dropping out of range? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

a "me too" is in order here.
I have a Plantronics 520, and I have the same problem. My Q Phone re-connects without a problem, but the iPhone can't be persuaded to re-connect without a re-pair.
I think the issue is this: after you pair BT devices and turn one off, EITHER device should be able to initiate re-connect. All of my other BT phones have done this: turn the phone off, back on, and it re-connects just fine. The iPhone doesn't seem to actually go out and try to re-connect to the headset.
By design, the 520 will only automatically re-connect to the last device you used it with (this is the general rule for headsets), so to get it to reconnect to the iPhone after using it with another phone (or my mini), the only way the connection will happen is if the phone initiates the connection.
Ideally, the iPhone should try to connect to the headset whenever certain events happen:
1. Make a call
2. Phone rings
3. Open the voice mail menu
4. Turn on the phone
5. Turn on BT
This isn't happening.

  • Should my iPhone 1 (iOS 3.1.3) with Bluetooth 2.0 (Handset HSP?) work with wireless earbuds with BT 4.0 and the Headset (and Handsfree, A2DP, AVRCP) protocol? They pair and connect; status bar looks good. But audio always comes out the speaker. Thx.

Should my iPhone 1 (iOS 3.1.3) with Bluetooth 2.0 (Handset HSP?) work with wireless earbuds with BT 4.0 and the Headset (and Handsfree, A2DP, AVRCP) protocol? They pair and connect as expected (with a PIN); status bar looks good and shows Bluetooth active, and I even see the iPhone displays the battery levels of the wireless earbuds. But audio always comes out the speaker. (If I plug in wired headphones into the headphone jack then audio comes into the wired headphones, as expected.) I have rebooted the iPhone; I have had it forget about the wireless earbuds, and repaired and reconnected; I have reset all network settings. Thx in advance.
PS: I understand that more recent versions of iOS have a way to choose where audio output goes (speaker, headphone jack, Bluetooth device). Does this older version of iOS? I could not find an option or setting.

I've noticed this lately as well, with my iPhone 4. I couldn't confidently pin it directly on any particular iOS update, but my iPhone used to automatically connect up via Bluetooth with my Prius's handsfree feature, and now it doesn't. I work with a CE-based device at my job, with Bluetooth capability, and I used to test out that feature by having it discover my iPhone. This no longer works either.
What I have found (not really a solution, but it does work and may be a clue for Apple) is that if I simply go to the Settings app then the General -> Bluetooth screen and let it sit there, it will pair right up with my car within a few seconds. Bluetooth is always on, and always says "Now Discoverable" at the bottom of the settings screen.

I have a 3GS. Am trying to sync a plantronics explorer 232 Bluetooth headset and can't figure it out. I have Bluetooth turned on but it searches for devices and the headset never shows up. Anyone know exactly how to do this?  My tech skills are lacking

I have the same blueparrott headset headset with the directions. Actually reading them just fixed my iphone pairing issue.
Here they are in case u still need them along with what I needed to do to get mine to work with iphone 4
    Pair Headset with Phone
    Turn off headset off
Hold down headset's MFB (large top button) until red & blue lights flash and you hear 2 rising tones, followed by 4 more tones. Must wait for all before you release the MFB button!! (I had my hubby hold the MFB while I waited for the tones since both come from the headset
Release the MFB and follow your phone's instructions to place it in 'bluetooth' discoverable mode.  With the iphone4, go to "General" and then "Bluetooth" and turn indicator to "ON".
This is where my issue occurred as the phone could not find the bluetooth, although it worked with my LG phone.  So after trying it several times thinking I was nuts and that the issue was with the iphone, I looked further in the blueparrot's directions and found this step that fixed the issue.
    Reset Paired Devices List
On the bluetooth, press and hold down both the volume up & volume down buttons for 5-6 seconds.  A double beep will be heard and the list will be reset.  Pairing info for devices previously paired will be lost.
The bluetooth directions provide this as step 4 but that did not work for my phone (see below)
    4. Once the phone discovers the headset, select "pair" and enter "0000" code and that when pairing is complete the blue light on the headset will stop flashing and phone will prompt you to 'connect'.
This is what I had to do after resetting the device list on my bluetooth
    4. My iphone instanting discovered the headset and displayed it under 'Devices" but showed a message that it was 'not connected'.  Once I selected the device on the iphone by pressing on it then it changed to "connected".
Even when I turn the bluetooth on and off the device remains on the list and alll I do is select it to connect and disconnect after I turn on my blueparrott bluetooth
    I hope this helps others!

  • Ipad and Sony HBH-DS205 bluetooth(A2DP enabled) headset pairing problem

    Hi,
I have brought a HBH-DS205 headset. The bluetooth headset pairs with my X10i and I can listen to both the calls as well as the music played on the phone with these devices.
But, when I try to paid with my iPad, the iPad goes on searching for the devices and never lists the bluetooth headset. I tried removing the pair between the X10i and the headsets and then scan but is no use. Restarted the iPad as well as the headset but no use again. The iPad never shows the headset in the discovered devices list. Any one used this headset and paired successfully with iPad?

Read through the following KB article to determine if the Sony's specs are supported on iPad and, if so, how to discover and pair:

  • Is there an easy way to switch iPhone microphone input from headphones to Bluetooth and back?

When driving I plug my iPhone into the car stereo AUX jack with a cable to listen to music. To receive or make phone calls, or to use Siri, I use a Bluetooth (Jawbone) headset.
If I'm playing music out the headphone jack and then answer a call, when the call ends the music starts playing again through the Bluetooth headset, so I have to switch it back to headphones. Theoretically no big deal, since there's the little airplay icon at bottom right in most music apps. Still, I really wish it would revert to playing through the headphone jacks and I didn't have to do anything. Is that possible?
But it gets more annoying. Let's say I decide to use Siri and want to use the bluetooth. This is fine IF I plugged the headphones in before connecting Bluetooth, but for some reason it often seems to happen that it defaults to the headphone jack, especially if I've been messing with it a bit -- say I was listening to music, then received a call, then hung up, so now music plays through Bluetooth, so I hit the icon to switch music back to headphones, though sometimes this doesn't work and I have to unplug and replug in the headphones. But now usually if I want to use Siri, and I hold down the iPhone home button, or even if I hold down the jawbone button, it will often take input still from headphones.
I can't go into all the variations of this that happen, but almost every car ride there's a pain about this -- someone calls but even though I answer through my headset, the input is still from the headphone jack, and i have to scramble to get the call going through Bluetooth again. Or I have to unplug then replug the headphones after Siri use. None of this even covers something other, like dictating text or making a voice memo, something else that need simply but DOESN'T have an AirPlay-style button on bottom right like the music apps do. Really a pain.
Really wish there were some easy switch to toggle the input.
And again, really wish the music would just go back to playing where to was playing from (headphones) instead of making me switch it either via a button or through unplugging/replugging headphones.
    Any solution to this?
    Thanks.

Sometimes you turn off your Bluetooth and then back on and it doesn't reconnect with your phone unless you go into the menu. Either way doesn't help much if someone calls you while you're driving and you realize your iPhone is stuck on headphone input.

  • Nokia Lumia 1520 - Bluetooth and Data Connectivity...

Hi - i recently updated my Nokia lumia 1520 with a new firmware that Nokia tool told me being available.  after that i have consistantly having bluetooth connectivity issues and Data connectivity issues.
i have a Jabra Clipper bluetooth headset which .  i am no longer able to pair it. it detect and says jabra clipper, then starts pairing, then simply says couldn't connect.
if i have wifi on, if i go out of range of the WIFI signal, my data connection stops working as well.  this is 100% of the time.  i have to reboot my phone to get data connectivity back.
    Its on Lumia Cyan
    manufacturer name: RM-937-im_mea3_1019
    core build id: 7030.80
    bsp release: 2061.0066
    applicatoin versoin: 3.11.2.1
    build creation date: 7/8/2014
    from Nokia software recovery tool:
    Product Code: 059V479
    Software Version: 02061.00066.14253.40002

Because I am just an end-user like you and I do not have your hardware combination here, I can only give general advice. Could be a new interoperability issue between these two devices, introduced with Lumia Cyan. Could be a old wrong pair-key. Or could be interfering between your Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (Bluetooth Adaptive Channel Hopping). Therefore, let us start with the Bluetooth part:
on the Nokia Lumia 1520, Settings » Wi-Fi » Off (to avoid any interference)
on the Nokia Lumia 1520, Settings » Bluetooth » On
(status: paired) tap and hold your Jabra CLIPPER » delete (if paired already)
on the Jabra CLIPPER, press and hold the multi-function button until the indicator light is solid blue (approximately 6 seconds) to activate the paring mode
Your Bluetooth headset should appear in your phone now. After you tapped on it, it should be paired successfully. Does it?
If not, start over again and between step 1 and 2, power off both Jabra CLIPPER and Nokia Lumia 1520.
If it still does not work, start over and between step 1 and 2, please hold volume down + power until the Nokia Lumia 1520 turns off (soft reboot; do not forget to set your date/time afterwards).
If it still does not work, start over and between step 1 and 2, turn off your Wi-Fi access point.
    Does it work now?

  • I am using a bluetooth LG HBS700 headset. Since upgrading my Iphone 4 to IOS 6 I can't have the Iphone more than 1 foot away from the headset without loosing connectivity.

I am using a bluetooth LG HBS700 headset. Since upgrading my Iphone 4 to IOS 6 I can't have the Iphone more than 1 foot away from the headset without loosing connectivity.

You are a genius! Thank you so much; my LG HBS700 now works with my iPhone 5. It is so wonderful that there is this facility for people to help each other. And it is so agrivating that there are these mysterious, unexplained, magic tricks necessary to make my phone work. Do you happen to know how the button combination resolved the Bluetooth issue? What was the Bluetooth problem and how did this fix it. Again thank you for passing this on.

  • Bluetooth and iphone 6

i can not get my iphone 6 to see my bluetooth headset, and it does not even get to a pairing menu... the circle just goes round and round.  has anyone had that problem? and what did you do to resolve it

The iPhone does not really have a pairing menu. You just turn on Bluetooth, and that puts it in discovery/pairing mode. You have to also put the headset into discovery/pairing mode, and the device's user guide usually will help you find out how to do that. If the headset is not in discovery/pairing mode, the iPhone will not "see" it. Generally, you press down on the on button or answer button for several seconds until the light on the device flashes. But I would check the device's user guide if you have one, and if not the Google for the support site for the device.

  • How do you in xcode search devices in bluetooth and stablish connection other devices with iphone or ipad

    hi everyone
how do you in xcode search devices in bluetooth and stablish connection other devices whit iphone or ipad ?
    the all answer is good
and the source is enable for all

Bluetooth on iOS has three different functions:
o user level features -- For example, headsets.  There is no developer opportunity here (well, you can play audio that comes out the headset, but you know what I mean :-).
o networking -- You can establish a PAN network to other iPhone OS devices with GameKit (going away)  or Bonjour.
o accessories -- All Bluetooth accessory developers must go through the Made for iPod program.  Once you have an MFI device you can then talk to it through ExternalAccessory framework.

  • IPhone and Apple Headset

I am unable to get my Apple Headset to function with my iPhone. It was working fine, until someone plugged in their iPhone into the charger while my headset charging. I assume that the Apple Headset then paired with that persons iPhone. Never-the-less, once I re-paired the two (again), things should've been fixed. I've done everything that the manuals instruct me to do, yet I still can't receive calls via the headset, even though the indicator light says there is a connect.

    Hi OTM,
Try remove the iPhone Bluetooth Headset, from Settings> General> Bluetooth, and then pair it to the iPhone again manually as described on page 9 of the iPhone Bluetooth Headset User Guide.

  • Review: Sony MDR-AS600BT Bluetooth Wireless Sports Headset

I walk about an hour a day to the SkyTrain and home, rain or shine. It’s a great time to listen to new music on Spotify or call friends and family; I’ve spend the past few years flipping between headphones from Bose, Monster, and my Apple EarPods. The one thing that most of them have had in common is that they have a cable running from the earphones to my phone. That cable gets snagged, pulls and will either rip out of the audio jack or pull my phone out of my pocket on a bad day. For the last week I’ve been using the Sony Bluetooth® Wireless Sports Headset on my walk. Have they solved the cable problem and are they worth buying? Read on to find out!

I saw all your problems listed and quickly read it through looking for "I've tried to update". I clearly read it to fast. Sorry about that, my bad.
As for the "assumed answered" check the 2nd announcement on the main page on this forum for a detailed explanation to this.
The software version name/number isn't listed anywhere on the website but you can check this in the device itself. Back button > Settings > System info. The latest one is called 0.1.B.0.6.
Since you've already done the update and still are having problems I suggest you download Update Service. http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/
With this program you can redo the installation which hopefully solves your issues. If not, I'd suggest you take it back to the store.

  • As with all things new........ Bluetooth and Camera

    Hi all,
Joined the bandwagon and got my new iPhone 3G. gotta say I love it. and I can forgive it most of it's floors but there are a couple that are a pain in the bum and worth mentioning.
Bluetooth seems to be pretty useless on this device other than for a head set or other accessory. It's handy to be able to bluetooth files to and from your computer and between phones of all types. I know some people will say there is no need, just plug it in but, if I just want to send a file direct to someone else i shouldn't need to. Not with today's technology. This seems like a pretty major floor. Please let me know if I have overlooked something. Is there perhaps an App that allows you to utilise BT to it's fullest. BT won't even recognise other devices laptops or phones.
I wasn't expecting much from the camera but I have to say it's pretty **** basic lol, I mean come on guys, what's the point. Major bummer that you can't send pics via bluetooth. and also that you don't really have any basic photo editing abilities. Don't mind that it doesn't do Video or even have exposure adjustments but a few more features would be nice. If anyone can suggest any Apps that allow these features please let me know.
Overall I Love it. It's a great gadget just needs some work to make it all it could or rather SHOULD be.
    Cheers
    J

I am waiting for some Aps to take care of the Bluetooth part. I would love to pair it with a wireless headset (stereo like the Oakley's or something).

  • HT4623 how can i fix the problem on ios 6.1.3 in my bluetooth and wifi connection?

how can i fix the problem on mi ipad mini. When i updated the ios to 6.1.3 the bluetooth and wifi didn't work properly.

    Hey maricel737
There are two different articles that go over troubleshooting steps for solving issues with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. This first one goes over Wi-Fi on your iPad:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
This next one outlines suggestions for Bluetooth on your iPad:
iOS: Third-party Bluetooth headsets, headphones, and keyboards
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1664
On the Bluetooth one, I'd just skip ahead to the "Additional Information" section where the troubleshooting steps start.

  • Addressbook Bluetooth and iSync - Get numbers off phone to AB

    Greetings,
There were many topics on this after a search but I couldn't find an answer I could understand. Forgive me if I am a little slow.
I plan to buy the iPhone here in the next few days. My old Motorola RAZR V3 has bluetooth and works flawless by syncing AB with the phone by using iSync. However, none of the phone numbers from my phone (Which weren't in AB before) end up in my AB. Am I doing something wrong here?
I never used any type of sync before since I didn't need a media device but now I guess I do? Apparently iPhone has a new built in SIM card and I can't transfer my numbers if I don't do this?
Thanks.. Oh... What is really the difference between iSync and the Sync in addressbook? Everytime I click the bluetooth icon in AB it asks to pair then nothing happens?
    //Cheers

That happens if you've got your contacts stored on your SIM card in the RAZR. Transfer them to your phone, then they'll magically appear in address book. I've found as well that for some reason the bluetooth pairing in address book doesn't do much, iSync does though.

  • TS3048 Bluetooth and USB ports aren't working can't connect mouse or keyboard.

Bluetooth and USB ports aren't working, so am unable to use Imac past turning it on. There's no way to connect mouse or keyboard, it started right after a software update for Maverick (OS X bash Update 1.0 – OS X Mavericks), bluetooth symbol not showing in the task bar at all.

    Hi SBrwn,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The symptom you're describing can be frustrating to troubleshoot as our options are limited. I do suggest resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) if you have not already. This step can help you regain use of USB and Bluetooth.
Follow these steps to reset the SMC on your iMac:
Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve
Shut down the computer. [by holding down the power button]
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
You can find these steps and more information at this link:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    All the best,
    Jeremy
