1.1.4 upgrade and restore issue...

Phone working fine this AM. Came into work put phone in cradle and it indicated an upgrade is available. Well the exact same thing happened as happened with 1.1.3 upgrade. Phone crashed completely. Now attempting restore of phone and it is "stuck" at the "Preparing iPhone for restore..." dialogue box (now for the 4th time and for at least 20 minutes this time).
iTunes is the most current version as well as I have removed and reloaded iTunes twice now.
Normally iTunes works fine. Any suggestions as I really do not feel like or have the time to drive the 50 miles to my "local" Apple store?

I have almost exactly the same problem, although I get past the "prepare iPhone..." point and start the restore before I lock up. I did get a few hours use of the phone after the 1.1.4 upgrade (absolutely no problems with 1.1.3, I probably should have waited to upgrade) but after the 1.1.4 upgrade the iPod module was screwed up, not syncing many of my songs, show the wrong or blank album art in coverflow, and other glitches. Attempts to sync either failed with "Device Timed Out" (the iPhone would kill the connection in the middle of a sync) or finished without syncing (or sometimes removing) songs I had on the iPhone.
I tried to restore but am now locked in "Recovery Mode" each time I try to restore. I am trying to do this through iTunes on Windows at my office (the only machine I have always synced with, although I do have a Mac at home). Right now iTunes itself is frozen in the restore cycle and I think I will have to hard kill it to start again.

If you're using a USB hub take it out of the loop. Plug directly in to a USB port on the system. If you are using a front mounted USB port, try one on the back instead. If this doesn't correct it, try shutting off any firewall and antivirus software and turn off User Access Control.

  • IPhone 4 upgrade and restore

I tried to do the iphone 4 upgrade on July 20, 2011 and it stuck and put my iPhone 4 in recovery mode. It says I need to restore, but when I try and restore it gets stuck during firmware part of restore and won't continue any further because of Error #9. I have tried all USB connections and tried different USB cables. I don't think anything is wrong with any of them. Help?!?!

Well, I went to the Apple Store, and after replicating the problem, they offered me a replacement on the spot.  Great service on their part was enough to offset the hassle of going there in the first place.  Everything works well now and upon arriving home I was able to update the firmware and sync from my backup without further issue.  Hope everything goes as smoothly for you guys.  Gl

  • IWeb wont work after MAC OS X upgrade, and restore from backup

I upgrading to Mac OS X 10.5.2, and reinstalling iWeb 08, and restoring my website from backup, iWeb does not recognize my existing website. When I opened iWeb for the first time, it had the option for creating a new website, not recognizing my existing website. I could not see an option to "open" or "import". How can I get it to recognize my existing iWeb website?
We website is located in my <user home directory> Root directory. I have also tried placing it in the <user home>\Sites directory and relaunching iWeb with no success.

I made a full backup of the hard drive before I repartitioned it for MAC OS X. I Once the install completed, I copied over the <user>\Domain-Name. I wasn't aware of the one in >library>application support. I went and looked on my backup and could not see anything resembling my domain name or iweb under >library>application support. Can you give me a little more information on this or where it could possibly be? I'm sure that I'm really close to getting this figured out.
    Thanks!

  • Upgrade and restore wiped out my library!!!!

Recently my iPod has been acting a little weird (freezing and not synching properly) so I thought I would restore it to its original settings. I had just upgraded to the latest and greatest iTunes and everything was working just fine. I hooked up my iPod, pressed restore and went to bed. In the morning it said OK to disconnect, so I did. I went outside and plugged it into the car and started looking for the album I wanted to listen to. Nothing was there, only one TV show. I went back inside and looked at iTunes to see if there was an error screen I missed. There was. It said, "100 errors" I looked at each one and it was the same, "could not locate song." I opened explorer and tried to jump on my external music drive, but it would not open. I get an error that says, "Drive not formatted, would you like to format now?" I had over 75 gigs of music on that drive, where did it all go????? It was there before I upgraded iTunes and restored my iPod. What the deuce!?!?!?

    I'd be freaking out!
Then I would shut down my PC and my external HD, and start them back up.
Does Windows still think that exHD needs formatting when you start it back up?

  • Using iTunes Plus to upgrade and restore music

I had a bad computer crash a few months ago, lost all purchased music, then found said purchased music for upgrade in iTunes Plus. Purchased the upgrades, but they are nowhere to be found on my iTunes. Do I need to re-purchase the songs, or can I find them somewhere in the abyss that is iTunes?

The iTunes Plus upgrade process works by your purchased history, and does not care if the pre-upgrade versions are still in your library or not.
First look on your hard drive and see if the Plus versions are there somewhere. If you paid for the upgrades and did not receive them, contact iTunes Customer Service:

    Hi,
When we did the Backup and Restore from Dev to QA. we landed in an error saying that Invalid Value of Dimension Member for Entity and Intco Dimension.
    Appreciate on any inputs
    Thanks,

Compare contents of entity & intco dims (dev vs qa).
You can also manual adjust entries of dims in QA and use restored appset normally.

  • Upgrade and Restore?

I've been following this forum over the weekend. I've got the new OS but haven't yet installed it. I'm a bit confused about a couple things and wondered if someone could explain.
    1) Upgrading is bad: Why do they offer an upgrade path if it obviously doesn't work?
    2) Backup / Install / restore : what good is this? I don't want to have to reinstall every software application I've purchased and installed over the last 8 months. Are you guys saying there is a way to do this without physically having to reinstall all applications?
I'm hoping this is not as serious as most of you sound, but at the moment this seems much worse than any Windows upgrade I've ever done. Can anyone tell me the best possible update path that won't require me to reinstall Parallels, Maple, Final Cut Pro, Aperture, and the other 20 or 30 apps I've got?
    Thanks,
    glenn

Upgrade is usually much more troublesome than a clean install. In order to make things work again in the new OS, you have to consider every possible thing. If you neglect one thing, it is a potential error while upgrading. People call that bugs, if it is found after the release. However, it is quite a big one using Leopard upgrade path.

Due to the big issue with upgrading, the best choice we have at this moment is "archive and install", or back up everything manually using something like SuperDuper before "erase and intall". And then use the migration assistant to import the old programs after the Leopard is fully functional.

  • WAP300N upgrading and restore configuration not working...

    Hi,
We've a WAP300N accespoint and for a couple of months it works well, till last day.
All connectivity going down, throughput of data slowed down, acces time increased.
For example, when someone uses his/her laptop to navigate on our server, sometimes the connection resets, or the responstime to get the folder was more than 60 seconds.
So I did reset the ap and problem was still there.
So restored it to fabric defaults and then I another issue came there: I want to restore the original configuration file.
So I navigate to management->restore, I select the .dat file and hit "restore", but sometime my browser shows me "page not found" then or sometimes it jumps to "time out".
Sometimes the bar goes to 100% and the device restarts, but nothing happens.
So then I thought, maybe there's an upgrade (our AP has firmware 1.0.00) and yes, 1.0.01.009 is released so I tried an upgrade.
Same story, different browsers, all I get is sometimes "page not found" and sometimes "time out".
    Firmware is still 1.0.00...
Does anyone recognize this kind of problem and know how to solve this?
Resetting the AP to factory defaults and then trying to upgrade doesn't work either...
I used Comodo dragon, google chrome and IE as browser... all browsers results in the same story..
    Hope someone could help me?
N.B.: The AP has a fixed IP, but with DHCP enabled, it gives the same problem.
    Regards,
    John

Hi BSAEMS. Since the firmware update was unsuccessful, this link may help you properly perform the process. Once done, I suggest that you press and hold the reset the WAP300N for another 30 seconds and try to set it up again manually without using the saved backup file. To further isolate this matter as well, you may try using a different computer.

  • After HDD Upgrade and Restore from TM, Not Seeing critical Software Updates

I recently upgraded my Hard Drive from 250GB to 320GB (my bro had one laying around from another MBP). I restored from my TimeMachine Backup and everything went very smoothly.
However, I now noticed that there are some issues:
    1) I am *still* running Safari 5.1.3, 5.1.4 was released weeks ago and it is not showing as an option to update in Software Updates.
    2) There is a very critical Java update that I really need to install that is *also* not showing up in the list of available Software Updates.
    3) When restoring from TM Backup, it doesn't create the Restore Partition automatically.
I was able to fix Item 3 above by simply downloading and reinstalling Lion, nothing was bricked on my machine or files lost from my reinstalling.
However I am at a loss as to how to fix Item 1 and 2 above.
    Any ideas? Apple Gurus?
    Thanks!

    Hi current:
Yes it is. I tried it (as a test for myself) a couple of weeks ago. I admit I had a current bootable clone in case something went cuckoo.
I made a current TM backup and then erased my internal HD. When I booted from my software install DVD, I was given the TM restore option. I did not reinstall OS X on my internal HD first.
It worked perfectly for me, by the by.

  • IOS 7.04 and configurator 1.4.2 backup and restore issues

I have 20 brand new iPad air's and I am trying to establish a base image in configurator, then use that to restore from as a mass deployment option. I created the backup from the first iPad air succesfully, I installed a few apps via configurator and tweaked icon placement via itunes, I also changed a few settings from the device, wallpaper, bluetooth, and I turned on reduce motion. I am able to backup the first device succesfully in configurator, when I attempt to restore then next device it errors out with a message "Could not restore backup code 4 domain com.apple.configurator.operation.error". I have tried manually proceeding past the greeting screen, rebooting the mac running configurator, restoring the device via itunes, and recreating the backup image. It continues to fail with the same error. The frustarting thing is that i cannot find a table to tell me what these error codes mean, so im left in the dark as to what is causing the issue. does anyone have any ideas?

I have gotten this resolved, but as to how i got this accomplished I am unsure. I ended up deleting the backup image I had created, and starting over from the beginning. I then created a backup at each step of the process, then tested it to see if it failed to apply. At no step in the process did the process fail, so I dont have a clue what change was the culprit. The last issue I'm having, which appears to be fairly widespread, is that when the image is applied theres a 3-5 minute hang where it stays in the "waiting for device to be ready" state. Im not overly concerned about this but it is a pain to have to wait so long for each device to finish. Anyone have a clue about this?

  • Upgrade and restore error

when i try to restore and upgrade to a new version, i get an unknown error. it says something like "unknown error. iphone can not be restored: error 1015" now i cant use the phone at all. does anyone know how to fix this? thanks in advance!

Try Re-Restarting the phone or turning it off and back on again.
Another thing to try is to hook it up on iTunes and click the "Restart" button on your computer. If that doesn't work I would maybe try press and holding the on/off button and the home button on your phone at the same time until the silver apple symbol comes up.
If none of these things work, I would contact apple or see the Genius Bar.

  • Upgrade and internet issues

I recently installed Arch 64 and have been having a couple of issues:
1.When I installed it I connected to the internet and tried "pacman -Syu" to upgrade my system. The download went fine( although a little slow) but when it came to the installation it spit out some junk about files already being in the filesystem and at the end something about errors occurring and no packages being upgraded. I can't even install my video drivers because it needs some files to be upgraded.
2.At first I had internet just fine but now it wouldn't connect. I have a PPPoE (username+password) connection. Also, when booting it says "eth0 timed out". I had another computer before this one. I had  installed Arch 32 and had everything setup properly. But this time I need a 64 bit edition due to rendering purposes.
    Any help is welcome. Thanks.
By the way, I have kind of mixed up shifts so I may not be able to answer you right away.

Thanks. The link worked. I managed to install my video drivers as a test but I somehow broke the system. I'm with a fresh installation but eth0 still times out when booting. I shutdown the Wake-On-LAN (I read it somewhere) but it still doesn't help. Since I can't connect to the internet I can't ping anything. Sorry.
This is my MB: Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L - RTL8168C(P) PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC
EDIT: I booted LinuxMint (32 bit edition) and the internet worked just fine. It's weird because they both use the rp-pppoe plug-in. Is it 64 bit related? Is it my MB related? Any assistance would be great.
