1.1 WON'T PUBLISH

I've been trying for two days now to get iWeb 1.1 to publish my changes to my first site and to publish a new additional one-page site that I just made.
I have exactly the same problems that others have described. Once it goes into background mode, it reaches a "Publish Error" every time. Each time it varies, stopping at a different point.
I see that a few people have not encountered the problem, but lots of us have, and it sounds identical. We need Apple to produce a fix right away.
By the way, I checked my site online, and 1.1 has screwed it up. One of the pages is now BLANK. So apparently it was in process of doing that page when it struck its Publish Error. So BEWARE, this 1.1 does have the ability to ruin your website.
Apple, PLEASE!

Michael,
It's buried in all the other chat, but a helpful tip is to let iWeb keep running after the error message. It is continuing to upload your web page, even though there is no outward appearance of doing so. Open the Activity Monitor app, click on the Network button, and watch the outgoing traffic. When it makes a large drop and stays low, iWeb has finished. Your web page will be in pretty good shape at that point, though comments and search will probably not work. Some users have reported that clicking photos to enlarge them is broken, though I personally haven't seen this.
You may need to clear your browser cache to see the newly updated site properly.

  • Won't publish my changes....

I use iWeb 09, published my site using MobileMe. It worked perfect. BUT now when I have made changes it won't publish my changes and the icons stays red. I tried Publish site, Publish site changes, Publish entire site. I successfully published my website to a folder on my HD. I updated Iweb, signed out of MobileMe, signed in tried again, over and over and over.... nothing works
    Need help!
    Thanks

Update: It's working now, for the time being. It's my experience that it's been working on and off for this past weekend up to now. I don't know if anyone else was experiencing problems in that time frame.
I spent that last weekend doing some significant changes to the site, adding a new logo, background and that coverflow animation you see on all the root pages. The site is comprised of 11 pages and 5 blogs, with many entires in each of those 5 blogs. I affected changes to each page, including all the blog entries, and then tried to publish yesterday morning. I think that's when the trouble really started, because I was publishing a high volume of pages at once – MobileMe doesn't seem to like that. This is when I started trying to move the pages to a new site within iWeb, which eventually crashed the program and caused all my early entries in all 5 blogs to get corrupted (that's what I'm calling it at least, because if I clicked on those entries I just got a blank white screen, and if I tried to publish before deleting them I got the "An Unknown Error Occurred" message each time).
What I'm interested in is your suggestion to use Cyber Duck. I've ran into this suggestion before on these forums and so, yesterday, I downloaded Cyber Duck, but am totally clueless on how to use it. I know nothing about FTP but would like to know if A.) will the site load faster going through an FTP service like Cyber Duck or (the other one I hear about a lot) Web Maestro; and B.) If it will make the site load faster, how complicated is the change over and could someone walk a FTP illiterate person like me through the process. I update the site daily and so I can't complicate the process of publishing too much. I hear Web Maestro has selective publishing, maybe that's the way to go?
Also, I've disabled comments on my site anyway, so no fear of that.
Sorry this ran a little long.

  • IWeb won't Publish Site

    Hi,
Everything works fine until I add a flash music video or any video to the page then it won't Publish. But if I remove the videos from the page it will Publish. (this is not an embed code but instead a link set up from the hyperlink menu when I click on the "inspector" dialog box.
Or should I instead use the embed code from my upload site?
Has this something to do with memory? I followed the advice that was posted on another "help" column to change the memory setting in the MobileMe page for iDisk, but that didn't work either.

  • Acrobat 3D won't publish with 3D controls in Powerpoint

Acrobat 3D won't publish with the 3D motion controls when published as a powerpoint packaged CD show or as Adobe Presenter files. Controls only appear in the native powerpoint PPT form.

I did a little more testing and here's what I found. If your
audio files reside on a network server (regardless of where your
presentation resides), the publish process will crash when trying
to access the audio. I had to copy my audio files from the server
to my hard drive and import them to the presentation. Then it
    published ok. Go figure.

  • Some photos won't publish

i am using the Publish service (very cool!) to export photos to a  specific location on my hard drive. the process is driven by a set of  smart collections, and it all works great.
however, i have a handful of photos that won't publish -- they are  sitting in the "new photos to publish" or "modified photos to  re-publish" areas and they don't get published when i tell that  collection to publish.
the publish service exports in JPEGs.
Some are NEFs, others are JPEGs, one is a PSD.  All of the NEFs and JPEGs are virtual copies. the PSD is the original.
    any ideas what's going on?

    >@LKF: I can get CS3 to open files from LR 2, but it works differently than earlier LR releases. With LR 1.4 when I right clicked to edit in CS3 it gave me a choice of which version of the file to edit. It also paired the .psd file with the original .dng when I finished. Now with LR 2 it doesn't do either. Is this a design feature or is something hosed up.
Bug. Will be fixed in the next (first) update. For a workaround set Photoshop the be the secondary editor in the preferences and use it. If you are unclear on how to do this check here:

  • Director 12 won't publish an iOS app

It was working fine (if lots of bugs appearing on the iPad) and then the certificate ran out.
I updated the keychain cert and the provisioning file and now it won't publish the .ipa file.
    Anyone struck this?

There are other issues involving certificates...someone recommended checking the Keychain to make sure there are no duplicate certificates. Also suggested checking to see if there are any certificates in "root", because they should be in "login".
The reason I suspected the codesign phase in the IPA publishing sequence is because Director would progress with the process up until about 99% completion. With the Keychain "locked," the system gives the message asking for codesign permission. That, appearing at the very end of the publishing process, gave me some sort of clue but I kept thinking the certificates were mismatched when they were actually just fine.
It was only when I had the console utility running to see what was going on that I saw the reference to the Xcode path. I had already repeatedly deleted and reinstalled certificates. In my case the failure was because Director couldn't find the Xcode /Developer folder, wherein, I suppose, dwell the Xcode command line tools Director needs to finish the job.
Verbose error messages from Director during the IPA publishing process would be helpful to say the least. There are several places where publishing the IPA can fail.
Something occurs to me...forgive me if this is too obvious a question...but are you using certificates for iOS publishing or are you using certificates for OSX applications? They have to be iOS certificates and provisioning profiles. I assume that is what you have done but I bring it up just in case others may be trying to sign iOS apps with Mac development certificates. I confess that I am not an expert in these matters...
Another thing is to make sure there is an Apple Intermediate certificate in the Keychain. More detail here, near the bottom of the page.

  • IWeb won't publish to .mac

For the last 2 days, every time I try to publish iWeb to .mac, a box comes up asking for my password. I enter it, but nothing happens.
I think I may have an iDisk problem or a .mac login problem.
Someone please help. I need to republish asap!!!!!

I have encountered the same problems - my site was fine until yesterday when I decided to change it and now it won't publish.
Let me know if you figure out what happened
I'm using iWeb 06 and have not upgraded to the new one. I did install some software updates that come in automatically. I wonder if that might be the problem.
When I try to visit site - I get a download popup and my pages (name only appear on my desktop but they are blank and nothing happens when I click on the icon. Weird - weird - weird

  • Won't Publish

I deleted an entry from my Blog by going to the entries page and simply clicking Delete entry. Now I try to Publish the site again so that the changes occur, but I get a message saying that there was an error publishing. So it just won't work. What am I to do?
    thanks

i can only tell you i have had very bad luck making iWeb publish. I could tell a few things that seemed to have helped other people:
    1. discount a router if you are one, direct connect to your high speed connection (if you have one)
    2. delete the preferences. See other post here for directions. See the 'iWeb Still Won't Publish' thread.
    3. do not have any other network activity going on. No iTunes, no mail, no downloads ETC.
    4. reinstall.

  • Director 12 (subscription) won't publish projector

I just purchased Director 12, subscription model, this morning. I am frustrated to say the least that it won't publish a simple projector on my system. It uses two xtras, BudAPI, and ImgXtra, but even if I remove them from the project, D12 still won't publish. It almost finishes, but bails about 90% through. System here is Win 7, 8Gb, D12. I've already reinstalled, and still get the same problem. Any clues on how to get D12 to publish a projector--not for IOS, rather for Windows.
    TIA,
    John

Hi, and thanks for your reply. Here are the answers to your questions and comments:
Did it crash the computer, hang or close D12?
No. No crash, no hang. D12 did not close. Behavior is like this: Choose Publish from menu; D12 begins to compile 15 files, then suddenly stops at 14 and the progress bar disappears. D12 still functioning fine.
Did I make a test program and try to publish?
      Yes. Same result.
Did I update an older Director to D12?
Yes. I updated from D11 to D12. All seemed to go well.
Did I remove ALL xtras then save it with a different name then try to pubilsh?
Yes. That was the first move I tried. Same result.
    Am I using BuddyAPI 4.07?
Yes. I don't think that's the problem. I'm also using Valentin's "imgXtra" and it works fine in author mode.
So overnight, I thought of something new to try and it seems to work. I reduced the User Account Controls to the lowest possible setting, opened D12, made a test program, and it published a projector just fine. So then I tried my project and it too published a projector just fine. So clearly, the UAC and D12 do not get along. The UAC probably thinks the the projector is compiling an exe that represents a threat to the system. If so, I wonder why no other Win 7 64 bit users of D12 have not reported this problem? Surely, I cannot be the only Win user with my UAC set to highest possible setting. Or is there some other factor in combination with the UAC that is prohibiting a projector compile? I don't know. It's rather strange that QA at Adobe didn't catch this oddity. Having worked in QA, I can tell you that we did test software with the UAC at various settings. But somehow this behavior slipped by Adobe QA.
The bottom line is, I now must reduce my UAC to lowest possible setting, open D12 project, compile a projector, and reset my UAC to highest possible setting. How bizzare. BTW, I have no virus protection software on my machine other than Microsoft's Essential Security. Maybe that, plus UAC, prevents D12 from compiling projectors. Who knows. What a strange turn of events. Adobe should test this issue and correct it. Imagine if we all had to have our car passengers wait outside the car while we started the engine. Only then could passengers get into the car. And once the car was moving, the passengers would have to disembark at every stop light so the car wouldn't die.
    Thanks for your response,
    John

  • IWeb won't publish... HELP :)

Hey everyone. Everytime I try to publish from iWeb to my .Mac account it will only go so far. It will error out saying "An error occurred while publishing file 'x.mov'." Where x is a different file each time, it could also be many other types of files.
I have restarted the computer, and shut down iWeb and then brought it back up again, however it still won't publish all the way.
    Has anyone seen this yet?
    Is there a fix?
    Thank you!

Just saw the other thred. :S It did say that a lot of other people are having this issue. I think I'll call apple support and see what they know about this issue.

  • Imovies won't publish ( export ) ...

Since buying this iPad 3 I haven't been able to use imovies a they won't publish ... Have tried everything I could think of , any ideas ?

Where do you want to publish to? The default for iWeb is to a MMe account. Click on the site folder in iWeb's left hand pane and setup where you want to publish (see below). If it's to a commercial server you will either have to publish to a folder on your Mac and use a FTP client like the free CyberDuck to upload or use iWeb's built in ftp client and set the path in the window shown below.

  • Iweb won't publish for me???

    Hi all,
I have published successfully a couple of times in the past and now for some reason, it won't publish at all. I tried starting the idisk sync option in the system pref's but it won't start and and error message comes up saying that i need to check my username and password but i'm already logged in? I read another post by Tom where he said to do a few things in the idisk pref's but it won't let me in to the idisk folder either and a message comes up saying my .mac membership is not set up but yet i just logged in before that......very confused! If anyone could advise me that would be great.
    Thanks,
    Dave.

    Hi Jeannie,
Spoke to apple support. My site is now publishing again!!
Please follow the instructions below as this is what i did and it worked. It has to do with resetting your .mac preferences and also your keychain.
    1) Click the Apple at the top left and select System Preferences
    2) In the new window select the .Mac (in the internet and network section)
    3) Click the "Sign Out" option
    4) In the member name and password boxes, enter random characters (Numbers and letters) and hit the sign in button, this will say the log in is invalid
    5) Now, enter your proper member name (do not [email protected], just your user name only)and then enter your password and sign in.
    6) Open iWeb and attempt to publish your site
Let me know how you get on.
    Dave.

    Thanks

You can probably get around it by publishing your site to a local folder...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Publish-Website.html
... and then uploading with an FTP application...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Search-Engine-Optimization/Upload.html
This is not so easy as publishing with the iWeb FTP.

Where in iWeb do you see ".mac"? ...If you've upgraded to the latest iWeb v.2.0.4, everything should read "MobileMe" — not ".mac."
Is your MobileMe membership still active — or has it expired?
