1.2 firmware update - contacts disappear from main menu

After applying the 1.2 firmware update I am experiencing a problem as follows...
I have always enabled "Contacts" to be "On" for my main menu because I use my nano as an address book as well as a media player and I like being able to access my contacts easily.
After applying the 1.2 firmware update I noticed that "Contacts" disappeared from my main menu. I guessed that the update might be re-set some of my settings so I went to main menu settings and lo and behold "Contacts" was still set to "On".
Despite a couple of soft resets, despite resetting all settings in "Settings" and despite toggling "Contacts" to be "On" and "Off" a couple of times I still cannot get my "Contacts" to display on my nano's main menu. Has anyone else experienced this?

You're not alone. I'm having the same problem, and it continues to persist even after numerous resets and one restore.
Beyond that, I'm also having some nasty performance problems playing 30 minute, bookmarkable AAC files created using Audio Hijack Pro... just as slow as can be. I'm not really enthusiastic about isolating the combination of factors that turn these files into cold molasses, so I took the cowards way out.
I reverted back to 1.1.1 and life returned to normal.

I updated my iPhone 4 to the new iOS 4.2 and after some contacts disappeared from my phone but are still on my computer. I've tried resetting sync history, I even restored the phone and the same contacts still won't show up. I have a PC that runs Windows 7, I've been using it since September and I never had this issue before.

did you also try to use the option to replace all contacts on the phone with the ones on the computer during the following sync? You can find this option in the info pane, advanced section.

It is locked to your sisters carrier.
She would have to ask her carrier if they unlock iPhones and if she qualifies for this service.

do you sync your contacts with an application in your computer? or use iCloud?
I can't tell you why the contacts disappear but you can get them back without much hassle by syncing through iTunes with your computer.
do you regularly make backups? if so, you can restore your iPhone using the backups and get your contacts back in your iPhone.
It is strange that half of your contacts are gone over and over again. Do you have Groups that are unchecked in your iPhone? If so, the contacts in those groups will not appear in your contacts list but they are in your iPhone and be recovered by re-checking the group name.

Are you saying that you had all your music safely stored in itunes and now it's all gone? You might try getting back the itunes folder that contains all your music (you haven't told us what kind of computer you're using) from a computer backup, say from a day ago. If using a mac, look in Time Machine, in the music folder for your account.

I went into the cloud on phone it was on. Turned off and back on. Now i have 6 of one contactDeleted face books also incase that was the issue. I went to Itunes and couldnt find contacts - now I wonder it is is my outlook email too adding information as I am seeing contacts that are only on my outlook emails.

ICloud Contacts disappear from Outlook

After the ios7 upgrade, my contacts disappear from Outlook. They are still on iCloud and on my iPhone.
I have tried the following:
icloud control panel and unclicking the check box next to contacts and restarting machine and outlook. Does not bring them back.
icloud control panel and exiting icloud panel and then restarting machine and then logging back into icloud and reloading contacts. Brings them back for one session. Once I exit and get back into Outlook the contacts are goine.
repairing icloud control panel (uninstalling and reinstalling) and reloading contacts. Brings them back for one sesson and then disappear again.
Any ideas.

The phone strarted "blinking" all of a sudden, and when it returned to normal all contacts were missing.
Has anyone else experienced this? Do you know if I can somehow restore the contacts? (No, I did not syncronize them with my PC or store them online..)

I would try a reboot and pray that it helped. But if you didn't back the phone up to itunes or icloud or if you don't already store your contacts in gmail, then they are probably gone forever.

I was not syncing, I don't use the Cloud, I was just checking if i had any messages on Viber...
All of a sudden, Viber didn't display any names any more, so I checked my contacts, and it just displays that my contacts are empty...
Is there any way of getting them back?

If you restore from iTunes backup
To help prevent the last backup from being overwritten and thus erasing the Messages from the last backup turn off autosyncing so that you have to overtly start a sync. To turn off go iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says "Prevent iPods...".

i was wondering if you could help please my contacts disappeared from my phone the only ones i have are the ones that are saved on my sim card. How can i get these back?

Plugins randomly disappear from the menu until they are disabled and reenabled in the latest stable release

I randomly have phony and abp disappear from the menu. If I disable and reenable the plugin it starts working again.

How to display current context while opening a todo entry from main menu

I want to display the current context(account,sp details for customer) while opening a todo entry from main menu while searching through To do entry id.

I am sorry that I didn't get back to all you guys that took to answering my very promptly. Unfortunately I was not in a position to answer to the suggestions made. as I was away from my computer which had Robohelp on.
Anyway, I did try a couple of scripts mentioned, but didn't really have any success i achieving what I need to do.
I set up a redirect which redirected to the main home page. I tried setting the home page in a main sub-project - so the redirect when from any sub project

This setup works fine as long as I call the master page. The TOC is as I would want. However if I call an ID from my application I get the required page to display and I can get the TOC to show. The problem is that the TOC is from the current sub-project and not the master project as I would want.
