  • TS4510 'Do not disturb' moon icon still stay on after my scheduled time.

I thought the 'Do not disturb' issue should have solved until I recently slide the 'Do Not Disturb' back to 'ON' and found that the moon icon still stay on after my scheduled time. Restarted the iphone5 (already running iOS 6.1.3) still showed the moon icon.
If the 'Do Not Disturb' is slide to OFF, with a schedule period being set (e.g. 22:00 - 07:00). The moon icon still appear from 22:00, no noise.
If the 'Do Not Disturb' is slide to ON, moon icon always show, phone still ring outside the scheduled period.
Is it what the 'Do Not Disturb' designed to work like this now?
    Thank you.

    'Do Not Disturb' ON
under Notification -> 'Do Not Disturb' Scheduled ON
at schedule time, moon icon APPEAR (~10 seconds delay), ring NOT from 'Favorites' PASS THROUGH
    'Do Not Disturb' OFF
under Notification -> 'Do Not Disturb' Scheduled ON
at schedule time, moon icon APPEAR (~10 seconds delay), right NOT from 'Favorites' PASS THROUGH
    'Do Not Disturb' ON
under Notification -> 'Do Not Disturb' Scheduled OFF
    moon icon APPEAR
Allow Calls From 'Favorites', (test phone not on favorites)
    phone STILL RINGS!
I think the above tests should proof that the 'Do Not Disturb' is not working except showing a moon icon.

  • Iphone 5 "crescent moon" icon always on.

I noticed this morning the "crescent moon" icon is always on no matter if the Do Not Disturb program/function is turned on or off.
All calls seem to be coming through though.
I did read some of the other related posts and thought this was suppose to change as of Jan 7th, but I just noticed today.
Wondering if anyone has an answer to this, or if they have the same problem.
    thanks,
    -tep

The pinwheel is only visible when the Bluetooth Settings panel is visible. It means that the phone is in Pairing mode. If the settings panel is not visible it is not in Pairing mode.
The phone will LISTEN for connections as long as it is not powered off. In this way if you turn on your headset or get in your car the phone will connect whether you are actively using the phone or not. Listening uses no measurable power, so it will not affect your battery life. Once it connects it will use about 3 mw of power for as long as it is connected. As the battery is 1800 mw that means that if Bluetooth was the only thing using power the battery would last for 600 hours. So even an active Bluetooth connection will not significantly affect battery life.

  • What is that ICON (half moon icon) that shows up under some of the movies?

Some of my movies have small moon icons under the file description. Most are 1/2 shaded.
    What do these represent?
    Thanks,
    Skip

    Dear Daniel,
Thanks for the quick response. I tried "watching" a few to see if the icon either appeared or changed to the full moon. That did not happen. However, on one that I watched, after watching it, a small speaker icon appeared. Thats the first I have seen that.
All of these Icons show up on the Library>Movies section... they don't show up on the Device>Apple TV> movies.
Does this help explain it? If not, any suggestions where I can look to determine whats going on?
    Thanks,

  • HT5463 moon icon appears even when outside of times specified?

My "do not disturb" features were working just fine and out of the blue the "moon" icon appears
even when the actual time is well outside of the times I have set ((11:00 PM - 7:30 AM).
Any suggestions on how to fix this?  Thank you.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
It's a bug that will be fixed on January 7th, but Apple should release a fix to that bug because it will happen again next year

What is the halmoon icon on my ipad

If it looks like a crescent moon - you have Do-Not-Disturb set on.

  • I'm using Pale Moon x64. The icon on the task bar and start menu looks like a 'computer' and not the pale moon icon-why is that?

My computer is Windows 7-64 bit.
I recently installed the Pale Moon x64 from the proper site.
All is working properly, except that the 'icon' for PM in the task bar and start menu is not the blue moon. I wonder why that is and how I can change it.
This happened on install of PM.

Thanks, but I can't find any answer to my question there.
I can't even figure out how to post a question.
When I put a few words in the comment section/bar, the result was nil.
Everything is working, I just want the icon to be correct.
I guess the motto of 'if it ain't broken, don't fix it' may have to satisfy me.
Maybe it will change when there is an update.

  • Ipod touch half moon icon and black screen

This is my sons iPod touch and this is what it shows. There is the iPod logo in the upper left hand corner and what I think is signal for wifi and then in the middle is a half moon and the right side is the battery icon. Other than that it is a black screen and will not turn off or do anything. Please help. Thank you.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • In messages, next to my nephew's name there is a little grey moon icon. Does this mean he is set to DO NOT DISTURB?

On his mother's phone (4s) there is no moon. SO he doesn't get updates from the rest of the family on events we talk about. Is this as simple as updating the DO NOT DISTURB or is there a list somewhere in FAVORITES (contacts) that he needs to  update too?

He likely has the Do Not Disturb feature on, but only for select people, and the people you mention that are in the conversation, are likely people your nephew has added to the group under do not disturb.

  • Firfox runs the update check when opening everytime and doesn't remember previous settings; any reason?

When opening Firefox 5 in W7 enterprise (x64) it checks compatibility for add-ons and extensions, shows the welcome to FF5 screen and the welcome to Foxtab screen. I then find that all of the permissions I set in No-Script are gone. This only happens if I close all the windows but it does happen every time. I've disabled foxtab but it still does the check and new welcome.

Start with your finger at the bottom of the screen (about even with the home button) and swipe in an upward motion.  There should be a row of icons at the top of a grey field.  if the quarter-moon icon is bright white, tap it.  If it was (and still is) dark, take the iPhone in to be evaluated by a qualified technician.

  • I updated to the new ios 7.1.1 and now my iphone 4S does not ring.  It does vibrate, but even though I've checked all my settings and confirmed that it IS set to ring, it doesn't.  Anyone else had this happen, and if so, found a solution?

I have tried the usual:  check to be sure "do not disturb" is not activated (it isn't),  checked the ringtone to be sure it did ring (it did). . . this didn't seem to happen right away after the update, for some reason -- it was initially ringing just fine.  But suddenly, after a few days,  it no longer does, nor do I get the tone that used to indicate when there is a message.  Didn't change any settings that might have made this happen.  Anyone with an idea of why and how to fix it????

Do you see a half moon icon in the upper right corner of the screen? If so, you have Do Not Disturb enabled. Settings>Do Not Disturb. Turn it off.
Or do you have system sounds muted?
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center. Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • When my phone is locked, and I get a text message, it isn't making any sounds. When the phone is in use and I get a text, it makes the alert sound.

When I get a text while the phone is locked it doesn't make the designated alert sound, but it does if the phone is unlocked and in use.

I think you have the 'do not disturb' function enabled. If there is a moon icon in the top right of the home screen that will be the problem. Go to settings,  do not disturb, and make sure manual slider is off. I had the same problem and took me a day to figure out.
    Good luck

My volume and brightness controls used to work by pressing the F1-F5 key, but now I have to press fn+F1-51. If I just press the F1-F5, it does what fn+F1-F5 used to do. I have no idea how to make it go back to the way it was. Can anyone help?
