1/2 useful Mighty Mouse

My once useful Mighty Mouse is now half as good. It will scroll up, but not down (or maybe it is the other way around). In any event it does not scroll both ways. I have restarted my computer, but that was not the solution. Do I need advice or a new mouse? Thanks for your help........

Hi David,
I just had the same exact problem, I just got a lightly damp cloth (water) and just kept rolling and wiping and wiping and rolling. Occasionally turning it upside down and cleaning in this positon... it came back to life!!! give a try, Good luck, Rick

  • Using Mighty Mouse to back-click in Safari

    Hi
Does anyone know if it is possible to assign a 'back click' to Mighty Mouse so that I can go back a page in Safari without having to click on the 'Show previous page' button in the toolbar?
    Thanks.

i also used steer mouse and assigned "cmd-left arrow" as my back button to the left scroll and "cmd-right arrow" to the right scroll as my forward. works like a charm!

  • Using Mighty Mouse

I have a new MacBook. I will be getting a new Mighty Mouse but one that was included with an iMac so there is no software CD. Will I still be able to program the buttons without the software, or does Mac OS X Tiger automatically give me the options when I plug the mouse in?

No, you won't need the installation CD for the Mighty Mouse. It's pretty much plug-n-play, so you can start using it right away when you plug it into any USB port on your Mac. If you need to program the buttons, go to System Preferences > Keyboard and Mouse

  • Using Mighty Mouse with 10.7.2

My center button (the scroll wheel) will no longer bring up Mission Control after upgrading to 10.7.2.  The physical button is still working, so if I change it to function as an Expose button then it works fine.  Anyone have any advice to get this working propperly again?

    Hi Macrobin,
Thanks for the answer. After the plain left mouse click, activating Mission Control with the center mouse button is the one I used most often.
Small addition to your answer: you have to first set Mission Control for that button in the Mouse Preference pane and then assign Mouse Button 3 in the Mission Control Pref. In my case it shows a warning about conflicting buttons, but Mission Control works. Switching that button function in the Mouse Prefs afterwards (even back to Mission Control) will kill the functionality again. So there is definitely something wrong with the Mouse Preference pane after the 10.7.2 update.

  • NEWBIE-Using Mighty Mouse scroll wheel to control Color's SMH wheels

Hi, new here & new to Color, working thru Ripples iTunes Color tutorials right now. Loving Color so far. I hope to be back with less rudimentary questions one day but here's the 1st:
Lacking a dedicated hardware interface, I'd hoped the Might Mouse scroll wheel would drive the shadow midtone and hilight wheels. I've tried various permutations in system prefs but no dice. Have I missed something? Thank you.

nadsta, I've found using a ShuttlePRO2 unit very handy. It's cheap, and I can map whatever shortcut I want, and then I use a Wacom tablet for the color wheel adjustments.
I've mapped the ShuttlePRO to jump between grade 1-4, and the different rooms I use the most (primary in/out, secondaries, color fx), turning grade on/off, set/delete keyframes and adjust keyframe type, two buttons for ALT/OPT and SHIFT modifiers which comes in very handy for selecting and adding to a color selection (in secondaries for instance) or holding ALT while click-and-drag in the color wheels and different parameters around the interface.
It's not perfect, but I can at least do some things in less time than I would using the keyboard.

  • Mighty Mouse will not scroll horizontally uder 10.3.9 why???

    Hi all
I was trying out my Mighty Mouse under 10.3.9 and it's not scrolling horizontally and on Apple support sight it said that it should scroll horizontally and vertically but it just doesn't scroll horizontally why is this? I have tried it on 10.4.10 and no problem here so I know that the scroll ball works and not broken. Is it a software/hardware "glitch" under 10.3.9 or a typo in part of Apple and if not how can I make it scroll horizontally under 10.3.9????
    Thanks!!!!!
PS: Here's what Apple says in they're "Support" section:
+*If you use Mighty Mouse on a computer with Mac OS X 10.3.9 or earlier, the mouse offers the following functionality:*+
+*Primary and secondary button functions are assigned to left and right buttons respectively*+
+*Vertical and horizontal scrolling is enabled (scrolling can't be disabled)*+
+*Can activate Exposé from the Exposé pane in System Preferences*+

I believe the booklet that came with the mouse explains what features work with each version of Mac OS X (I can't remember the page - I don't have the booklet to hand at the moment); I would expect the scroll ball to work with 10.3.9...

  • Bluetooth Mighty Mouse & Windows XP using Bootcamp

Are there plans to add functionality for the bluetooth mighty mouse in Windows XP using bootcamp??
Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   I run Bootcamp, as well as OS X

I was able to get it to work in Windows XP. I was not using Boot Camp since I have a IBM ThinkPad T41p, but it should work the same.

  • Middle-clicking woes in X11 Apps using a mighty mouse

    Hi,
This has been a frustrating issue ever since I got my new work computer (it's been over a year and a half) and I've just suffered through it. While middle-clicking a half dozen times today until it worked, I finally decided to ask to see if there's a solution other than scrapping the mighty mouse.
The problem is that when I use XEmacs (an X-windows app I use for coding), I like to use the middle click to paste, but I almost always manage to make the scroll-ball scroll inadvertently which causes the middle-click to not work and hence, nothing gets pasted. I know that there are other methods I could utilize, like setting up option-left-click or by command-c/command-v, or by using menus, but that's not what I want. I just want to highlight and middle-click. I want to have a middle-click that works with one try every time. I use all the clicking surfaces, so I don't want to map middle click to some other button. Is there a way I can tell X11 to ignore the scroll and middle-click anyway? Can someone give me a pointer on how to middle click better? This is crazy.
    Thanks,
    Rob

Have you tried an alternate Mouse driver?
    USB Overdrive
    <http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/13443>
    SteerMouse
    <http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/27620>
I think they have demo modes.
Personally, I use a Logitech mouse with about 9 buttons. My scroll wheel can be pushed left or right. Left is configured to Copy and Right is configured for Paste. Via USB Overdrive it does Command-C/Command-V for Mac applications, and the correct thing for X11 applications. That is to say, I can have the buttons do different things for different applications.

  • Can bluetooth mighty mouse be used with windows XP?

i installed XP with bootcamp, and my mighty mouse worked the install of windows and everything, until i actuallly got into windows... any ideas?

It works fine. After setup (use 0000 as pas code) the bluetooth device, you can use it. Upon logging in to the XP, just click once using mouse and then mouse will start working.
However, not all the functions for mighty mouse (like horizontal scrolling, side button etc) works in WinXp side.

Using an IMac desktop.  Upgraded to Maverick.  Can't use my mighty mouse anymore.  Bought a trackpad, hate it.  It is so touchy....constantly opening any window I scroll over.  Any suggestions on another mouse that is compatible?

  • Script for Button 3 or using side buttons on Mighty Mouse for Button 3

Looks like the preferences for Mighty Mouse only allow the side "squeeze" buttons to be used for Button 4. I don't want to use the scroll ball for Button 3 because it keeps zooming when i do. Does anyone know how to write a script to configure the side buttons to be Button 3?

I think I'm having a similar problem. Lately, my side buttons have been activating seemingly on their own. I hear multiple clicking sounds. I know I can turn off the button, but I use USB Overdrive to activate page back in browsers and the Finder, so I can be surfing and be brought back several pages at once. Very irritating. It doesn't seem to be consistent either. I bought my latest iMac in June, so I the warranty should be in place, but I'm an hour and half from the nearest Apple store, making it somewhat inconvenient to have the mouse looked at.
Heh, right when I was about to post this message, it went back several pages.

  • How To Quesiton Re: Using Wirless Mighty Mouse with Windows PC

I would like to use my wireless Mighty Mouse with my work PC. I need some type of wireless dongle but have no idea what type or brand. Could anyone suggest one that has worked for them?
The PC I will be using at work is running Windows 7.
    Thanks !
    Chuck :- )

The Mighty Mouse utilizes Bluetooth for wireless connectivity, thus any standards compliant Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR dongle should work. Here is a link to one that should work great:

  • I just purchased a used wireless Mighty Mouse. Do I need to have Blue Tooth installed on my machine to use it?

    Hey
So I just purchased a used wireless Mighty Mouse at a Goodwill very inexpensively on the 50/50 chance it would work. Right out of the gate I figured I might need to have Blue Tooth installed on my machine to use it, is this the case?
I have a Mac Pro Tower running 10.6.7, but I didn't opt for the Blue Tooth a few years ago when I purchased it. I knew I should've!
    Thanks.

Well I purchased the Mac Pro in 2009 I believe. It could've been late 2008, but I can't quite remember. When I ordered it from the Apple store online I customized it. I had the amount of Ram I wanted put into it, and had two hard drives installed. While doing all of my customizations I could've opted to have the Blue Tooth card installed into the computer but for some reason I didn't see myself using it. I did get the generic wired mouse that came with the computer.
