1.3 slowness because of "wrong" nvidia display driver

As 1.3 goes much slower as the 1.2 did before, I played around a bit with the configuration of my pc.
What I found out so far is, that depending on the installed display driver, lr changes it´s speed behavior drastically.
With the current nvidia forceware driver (v163.75), the sliders in lr are unusable slow. But when I re-install an older version (v93.71), lr becomes fast as the version 1.2 was before.
And it is not the nvidia desktop thing. This is disabled anyway. No, it´s the core-driver itself.
But it´s only lr who makes this kind of problems. All my other apps on my machine are just fine with the newer driver.
Anyway, I hope this info may helps others with the same performance problems.

Ok, I installed the v163.75 drivers, and now I get "real time" slider performance. Way faster than before. I would not be able to count the number of refreshes on the SAME photo i did prior to the driver upgrade. I slid the exposure, recovery, fill light, blacks, brightness, contrast clarity, vibrance and saturation sliders. Back and forth as fast as I could and had realtime updates in the photo viewed "to Fit", and "1:1". SO it is definately not JUST a driver issue.
So, maybe not an NVidia driver issue

  • Satellite P105 - Can't install nVidia display driver

I tried completing the download multiple times for the nVidia Display Driver 9.7.5.4.
The first times the setup would not complete citing "that this computer does not have the correct hardware.." , then the Windows message came up and said that "if this setup did not complete successfully click here blabla" and I did that.
Now when I run the setup it still stops in the same spot. But now it says that *"the setup can not be completed because this driver only runs on Windows Vista, and this is not Windows Vista." But the thing is I do have Windows Vista!*

    Hi
    > Current Display Driver: Mobile Intel(R) 945 GM Express ChipSet Family
And then you want to install an nVidia display driver?
    LOL :D
I think you can not install an nVidia display driver because your notebook is equipped with a Intel chipset and graphic card.
You will never be able install nVidia display driver and so did get the message that you don’t have the correct hardware.
Intel graphic cards and nVidia graphic cards are different things so do not mix it!
Some P105 was equipped with nVidia cards and otheres with Intel card and it seems that you have an Intel card.

  • With hardware acceleration enabled, and with plenty of tabs open, using the Windows 7 taskbar preview option will almost always crashed the nVidia display driver.

    Latest Firefox 4 beta 6.
    nVidia GT240 1GB DDR3 with driver version 258.96.
    Windows 7 Ultimate.
If I have plenty of tabs opened, in Firefox 4 beta 6 with hardware acceleration enabled, using the Windows 7 Taskbar preview feature (that will show all the tabs Firefox has loaded) will cause the Nvidia display driver to crash. When this happen, the GUI part of Firefox will be unusable and has to be killed via Task Manager.
This doesn't happen if hardware acceleration is disabled.

It is beta software and the older 4.0 b6 version may not work with all display drivers.

  • Lenovo b560 can't install nvidia display driver

hello i've learned that lenovo b560 computers got 2 graphic cards one is intel hd graphics other is nvidia 310m but i can't install the nvidia driver it always gives the no compatible drivers found error :/

    hi Frost1,
    Welcome to the Forums.
The B560 with Intel+Nvidia graphics uses the Nvidia Optimus Technology to switch between the Intel GPU (for power saving) and the Nvidia GPU (for applications that requires more processing power).
If you have Windows 7, try the following:
    1. Restart the machine and hit F8. On the menu, select "Disable driver signature enforcement".
       - Sample image
    2. Install these drivers then reboot:
1st:   Intel Onboard Graphics Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit)
2nd:  NVIDIA Display Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit)
If you still get the error, can you PM me your serial number or indicate your machine type (e.g., 0679-3JU) to check the PC specs.

  • Satellite 2450-201: nVidia display driver

i have just downloaded the latest nvidia display driver for satellite 2450-201 from toshiba and now the display has gone worse the driver is 3.6.4.8. for nvidia gforce 420 go what shall i do i have tried rolling back it wont let me! and i dont have a sytem restore point either is there some settings in nvidia help!

    Hi
Usually the original Toshiba driver should works properly and without any errors.
In you case I would recommend starting the OS in the safe mode and then to enter the device manager.
There you can select the Display adapters area and there you can uninstall the graphic driver.
Then download the right driver from the Toshiba page and install it again!!!

  • Nvidia display driver has stopped responding and has recovered

    Hello,
I'm fairly new to the boards.  I recently purchased my first laptop, the t510.  I have noticed on 2 occasions, about a month apart where the screen flickered and received the nvidia display driver message above.  On the first occasion, I was running Google Earth.  On the second occasion, I was playing a demo of a game.  The power settings were on low in both instances.  Is the problem that the video card was not receiving enough power or am I looking at imminent hardware failure.  I have the 3 year depot warranty so I can certainly send it in for repair if necessary but I wanted to make sure it wasn't just a power setting.  Any information you could provide would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Chad

    Look at this thread:
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T510-Nvidia-Display-stopped-and-recovered/m...
You are not the only one with this problem scout929.
Its not the best idea to do a direct comparison with the W510 thread, since that model doesnt use the same graphic processor as the T510 - but its a guideline to the driver being faulty nevertheless. So I guess we just have to wait for a driver that works better...

    Hi
Did you install the driver from the Toshiba page??
If not so visit the Toshiba driver page and download the right driver.
Its not recommended to use NOT Toshiba graphic card drivers.
Then I would recommend checking the display properties if the notebook screen was set as the primary monitor. Mark the display with the number 1 and check it the option Use this device as the primary monitor was enabled.
Furthermore check in the Advanced option in the nView tab if the nView mode was set to standard and that the option Make this the primary display was enabled for the notebook screen.

  • NVIDIA Display Driver Version 2.9.4.2

Windows Update for Windows 2000 is listing NVIDIA Display Driver Version 2.9.4.2 under Drivers.
Does anyone know about this version? I am not having any problems with the Nvidia drivers that I downloaded and installed so I have not installed this update.

It is the version that comes with windows and will automatically install if you have a card listed within the reference file.
I usually have to chase it down and delete all the references to that version as XP will continually load that driver without any intervention from the user.
    Very frustrating

What a load of rubbish changing a theme just does that changes your theme I did this the day I brought mine still the drivers crash and re-start. huh.

  • Nvidia Display Driver stopped responding and has recovered, kernel mode 186.60

I have tried just about everything, including first downloading new drivers, HP put in a new display card and has had it back to the factory two other times.
It still happens and produces a black screen anywhere from 8 to 15 seconds.  It happens in all programs, showing no one activity over another.
I think it has to do with the TouchSmart technology, because it's a large "laptop" in technology.  It finally happened during the night when HP Advisor was monitoring and they asked for feedback.  MAYBE they will discover the problem.  It's particularly hard when I had to ship it back to HP (at their expense) and do without it, then have to reinstall things all over again!
I wish someone had the answer!

Sorry it took me a while to get back to my TouchSmart. Here are the details on the "Optional" Windows update that seems to resolve this issue. Hope this helps  -PH

  • Beta repeatedly crashing Nvidia display driver; no other app does. What's up?

Toshiba Qosmio with lots of memory.
Beta crashes the display driver, which self reboots, principally when I try to use the Back button.
The computer is rock solid in other apps.

The latest drivers do not fix this very common problem that people are widely posting about on the web. In fact the problem is the latest, and not so latest drivers. The current bypass for this long standing bug in nVidia`s software, quality control, training and HR practices is to install the old 275.33 drivers.
If you can 100% fix the problem with a software change it is a software problem not a hardware problem, and that is the case with the Firefox crashes.
If you have other problems, not just Firefox, then you have some other problem -- so start your own topic.
nVidia GTX460, never over-clocked, and it crashes Firefox with any version of the nVidia WHQL drivers later than version 275.33.
Anyone wanting proof that this problem is caused by nVidia is invited to install the 275.33 drivers and see that this particular problem goes away.
I'm shocked. I pointedly advise everyone to stay away from nVidia because nVidia has been so incredibly intransigent in its refusal to admit the problem is its drivers.
I've done clean installs, even installs with DriverSweeper, all the WHQL versions since 275.33, as clean as is possible without re-formatting and re-installing Windows, and it just does not help.
But you know, if a clean install did fix it, it would still be a bug in nVidia's code because requirements for clean installs are due to bugs in install scripts.
Anyway, clean installs don't fix it. You can only fix it by going back to an earlier nVidia driver, (one that doesn't have the optimization for SkyRim, the game I'm waiting to play).
nVidia's corporate attitude on this is a disgrace. The immediate solution they should provide are fixed drivers and install scripts, but this problem has gone on for so long now that a software fix is just a bypass. The real bug is poor management attitude.

  • Nvidia Display Driver Error

New T61-CTO system, Vista 32 with Nvidia Quadro NVS140M that is not even a week old.
The system is very unstable, crashing almost daily with a display driver error.  About half the time it is able to recover and I get the following message, "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding but has recovered.....".  The other half the computer crashes to blue screen or just freezes with a corrupted display and I am forced to hard-power-off to restart.  About 75% of the time the error occurs at startup, but sometimes just randomly while working.
There is lots of info about this driver problem online but mostly for different display adaptors on desktop systems.  For the record I have the following display driver installed: 7.15.11.5685 and it is dated 12/10/07.  Nvidia does not provide support for this display adaptor and refers you to the system manufacturer.  Strangely, the driver on the Lenovo site is 7.15.11.0145 and dated 7/12/07, not sure why my system shipped with a driver that is not listed on the support site.
Any information on resloving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
