1.3 years of ****, now I tell

1.3 years ago I purchased a VCR to PC program for 1000 foreign film collection, Didn't realize it needed Windows. Spent 2 months learning about the phenomena of WIndows. Purchased a copy on line. It went all the way to set up, then quit. Got back to project next month. Talked to support. Sent back, bought another one. Same thing. Some how external hard drive was corrupted. Lost 1000 hours of film footage. Got back to it next month. After a total of 25 hours tech support, was told I had to purchase full version and that OEM would not download on Mac. After another month, could not find XP. Forced to buy Vista. Went through the process. It downloaded, but then had problems with visual from VCR/to PC machine. Sent it back. Got another one. Finally after 9 months I was seeing the movies on screen. But now could not download. Not enough memory.
Turns out WIndows did not partition full 32 gigs over. Used 1 month of tech support with WIndows and Mac. Walking the fine line. Every we got to set up "requires partition to be in NTFS format. We tried it 15 times. FInally he made me an appt with a genus. Next month I wrapped up my iMAc in a bag and took it by bus 1.5 hours in the rain to store. There the man said "we cannot support any info re WIndows." This was after my graveyard shift. No matter how I approached it, he "can give no info why I would not be working". On way out bumped into a sales personal who filled me in that old -2006 iMacs do not format to NTFS. Said it would have been able to re format if it was in a XP or the Windows 7.
Now I have a website -NTFS Mac download to go to and a copy Video Capture from Mac and a plan to make a case to Microsoft support for a free upgrade or discount for 7. In a few weeks I will get back to it. A lot harder than watching a Godard film

Who cares? You should care. You've posted in a forum for troubleshooting Apple Software Update for Windows, a software package for Windows designed to update Apple products that run on Windows, and not the least bit related to your issue with a third party software. The chances of you finding a solution here are slim to none.

    Rave,
I have the same problem.  It says trial is expired, so I select the "sign in now" button.  After sign in, it comes up with a place to enter a serial number.  The only two other options are "back" and "next".

  • How do I create a new account for an iPod that is on an existing account?  My brother and I have shared an account for five years, and now that I'm moving out, I want to create my own account but still want to be able to play the music I've purchased.

My brother and I have shared an account for five years, and now that I'm moving out, I want to create my own separate account but still want to be able to play the music I've purchased over five years.

In order to continue to play and sync the music you purchased with your old account, you'll need to authorize your new computer/iTunes library to do so.  You can do this by choosing Store -> Authorize This Computer and then entering in your old account credentials.
That's all you should need to.  Then just create your own account and start purchasing and using it the same you have with the old one.

    What Happened?
No way for us to know.  But if your system was crashing, there definitely was a problem.  The FCE error message you got normally indicates the FCE project file has been corrupted.  This probably happened due to whatever caused your system to crash & shutting down the system.
First, make sure your system is running correctly.  Then, use the Finder to navigate to /users/yourusername/Documents/Final Cut Express Documents/Autosave Vault and find the most recent backup copy of your FCE project file.  Copy the file to your Final Cut Express Documents folder (copy the file, don't just move it).  Then double-click the copy to open it in FCE.  It should open ok, but will probably not have your most recent edits (transitions).  You may have to rebuild the transitions, but at least you will be back in action.

I am trying to download an epub book from the library, which I have been doing for almost a year. Now I am being asked for my adobe id, which I enter and I get an error message stating Adobe Activation Request Error:2004.. What's this ?

I downloaded Blue Fire Reader and it requested an adobe id. I clicked on the link that was in the error message stated http//adeactivateadobe.com. Found out that if the date and time on my Ipad is wrong that it won't let me download a book. I was off 5 hours. I reset my clock settings and adobe id let me download a book from the library. I am back to using Overdrive and adobe again on my ipad.
    Thank you.

  • Itunes has changed the way it stores files over the years and now i am having trouble figuring out which files are where so I can back them up

    Hi
I have backed up itunes by copying my itunes file to an external hard drive. I try to keep my large media files (like TV shows) in a separate folder so that I can keep my hard drive on my macbook from filling up.  Problem is, apple has changed the way Itunes is organized and backs up over the years.  Now I am having a hard time keeping straight what is where.  When I go to support, it has different instructions for the various versions of itunes. I  am using version 10 now but it seems like I can't see all my files within the itunes music or media folder.  I want to get everything in one place so that I can easily back up, regardless of which version of itunes I am running at the time.
I have selected to let itunes organize my files.  It keeps all the files I have purchased in one place apparently, but items I have imported don't seem to always be there.
How can I best sort this out?

I have, but if I don't have that particular external hard drive connected when my time machine backup hard drive is connected, then I don't think it is all backed up together.  It is getting too complicated to get out all this equipment every time I want to buy some music.

Have been using Lightroom on my Apple computer for years. Now, ever since upgrading to Apple's  Yosemite operating system I get an error message (150:30) every time I try to open a lightroom file. Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Also how do I subscribe to Adobe's Premium Support? Every time I've tried (through contact support) I just get taken on an unending loop.

I think we need a lot more information.
Exactly what does the message say?
Exactly what files are you trying to open?
Exactly how are you trying to open them (what menu command or button or mouse action or keyboard shortcut)?
And lastly, what version of Lightroom are you using?

  • My dad and I shared an iTunes account for years and now I'm getting my own, how can I keep my music and apps?

My dad and I shared an iTunes account for years and now I'm getting my own, how can I keep my music and apps? I'm worried that I won't have any ability to access my apps and music. We have our itunes separated on different computers, so I have all of my stuff separated from his, but I don't know how to put them in my new account.

Well... there really isn't any fully legal way to do this.
The simplest solution is to continue sharing the same iTunes purchasing acct, but create different ones for iCloud (assuming that's why you needed to do the split).
Slightly less kosher: Burn AUDIO CD's, of the music then copy them back to your new account.
BE sure to do this from original acount, To keep the music info, you'll  copy over the CDDB file (in prefs somewhere) - since this maintains the data of CDs that you've had in library.... (it isn't carried over onto a user created CD.)

My kid`s been using my apple ID/account for years, but now that he`s older it`s time he got his own. Is there any way to either make a twin account so he doesn`t lose all his purchases from iTunes/AppStore or does he have to start from scratch? They payment can still be from my card/account, that`s not the problem, but facetime, imessage etc. is a available on both mine and his apple products (I know you can check what email/phone number we can be reached at, but it`s just a click and he see my messages and I his). It`s the privacy problem that is the most important.

He needs to have his own account, the sooner the better.
As for content, non-protected songs can simply be copied to his own new library, and he can use them.  As for protected content and apps, anything he still wants will have to be replaced.

  • My iPhone 4 (about 2 years old now), won't charge or turn on, please help!

Could it be, is my battery finally completely dead? Does Apple schedule your device to die a month or so before their next iPhone launch date? :/ I wanted to wait to upgrade to the next iPhone but mine just seemed to die out of nowhere. Here's the background:
It's about 2 years old now. I did replace the screen about 8 months ago when it shattered, that was through a third party. I think ever since I did that, the touch sensors were a little wacky (i.e. when I made phone calls, my cheek would still press buttons on the device even though the touch senssors should be off when you have it up to your cheek). But overall, it was "ok". I knew I was due for an upgrade but it was fine for the time being.
So last night I left my iphone charging and when I woke up, it was dead. I tried charing it but it was not responding. I've held down the power button and home button at the same time for at least a minute at a time while the phone is charging through a wall socket. Still nothing.
Question one: Is it fixable and if so, how?
Question 2: If it's not fixable, can I still get my information (i.e. contacts and whatever else) off the device?
    Thank you for any help!!

    1.  you may have to take it in to Apple and get an out of warranty iphone for $199.
    2.  you can get your information from a backup of your phone.  you do have a backup of your phone right either in iTunes or icloud.  If you don't then your answer will be no.

i tried to up date my i phone 4 to iOS 5 then it wiped my phone and now it tells me to connect to iTunes and that the iPhone is in recovery mode and when i connect it goes to preparing to install to iPhone but never goes any further how do i restore the phone

by reset option do you mean the DFU restore? worked for me, have you tried that?
if not - hold the lock and home button until the power down bar comes up. then hold the lock button for ten seconds - next continue to hold the lock button and press the home button for ten seconds - next release the lock button and hold the home button for 10 seconds. this should be done with the phone tethered. If done right and your itunes is configured as such, the phone will reload the drivers and start up itunes, and then prompt for a restore/update.
