1.4.2: Another installation is in progress...

I tried using the online installation, and when I got to the part where it's supposed to start downloading, it didn't do anything. No network traffic. And no close button, no cancel, no way to abort the installation. I let it ferment for 15 minutes, then killed it. That's problem 1.
Problem 2: Then I downloaded the offline version of the installation. When I ran it, it told me there was another installation in progress, and exited. I can't figure out what it looking for to determine if there's another installation in progress. I googled, I combed through my registry, deleted temp files, but nothing works.
So now I'm stuck. I just can't install the darn thing. Anyone know how to get around this?

If you're installing on Windows, you may be running into the problem I had. For some reason, any application that required a DOS window to be opened locked up at the stage where RunDLL was launched.
I'm not sure if the Windows installation of Java still launches DOS windows (it's been a while), but you may try opening up your task manager, and listing the processes that are running. If there are a couple of RunDLLs processes in there, then you know what's causing the problem.

CR 2008 SP1 Error 1500 'Another installation is in progress'

Hi,
I'm attempting to install the SP1 for Crystal Reports 2008. When I get to the actual installation phase after extracting all the files and agreeing to the T&C's i get the following message:
"Error 1500. Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing with this one."
I've found a couple of references to this on the web and they all suggest deleting the InProgress Installer registry key. But, having done this and rebooted I still get the same message. Any one else seen this and know how to resolve it?
I'm using Windows XP SP3, I have CR9 and CR2008 already installed if that makes any difference.

I think (and perhaps someone can validate this) that the message I'm getting is because the same build already exists on my PC. When I check my installed build number it is the same and so I must conclude that I downloaded and installed the V1 release. I guess what i'm saying is that it won't allow you to install the incremental SP1 on top of the V1 and it's error message is none to helpfull.
If anyone can confirm this then it may save others with this issue for wasting time as I have just done.

Problem Installing PSE 8.0 - says Another Installation is in progress

I just purchased a brand new CD version of Photoshop Elements 8.0 for Windows. When I run the installation process, I get past the "enter Serial # screen, and I start the Installation and it comes up with an error message saying "Error 1500. Another Installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one". I don't have another installation in progress, any idea what I need to do? This is the 2nd one today, the first one was a Mac version that I had to return to the store for a Windows version, but it never started installing. Please help!

Right click of your Taskbar at the bottom of the screen, Launch Task Manager, Check the option to "Show processes from all users" and check another instance of Setup.exe or Installer or msiexec.exe already running on the machine. If yes, then End that process and then try to install PSE again.
Sometimes, this error is also seen when windows is installing the updates silently without we knowing about it, or if there is some updates getting installed for some other application installed on your machine?
You may even try to restart the machine and then give it a try?

We can sometimes get past this particular message by reregistering the Windows Installer Service.
First, launch a command prompt as an administrator. In your Start search, type cmd then right-click on the cmd that comes up and select "Run as administrator".
If you have a 32 bit system
At the command prompt:
Type %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /unregister and hit enter.
Type %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /regserver and hit enter.
Restart the PC and try another install.
If you have a 64-bit system
At the command prompt:
Type %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /unregister and hit enter.
Type %windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /unregister and hit enter.
Type %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /regserver and hit enter.
Type %windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /regserver and hit enter.
Restart the PC and try another install.

Error message 1500, installation already in progress. Help!

I'm having a problem. I was trying to download a program from Abbottdiabetescare.com so my husband can monitor his blood sugars. When it is almost finished loading, it comes up with an error message that says It says "Error 1500. Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one." That's a direct quote. I got on the phone with their tech support but they couldn't help me at all. They said it had to be some process on the computer. His computer is a Toshiba Satellite L355-S7915. It runs on Vista. I have turned all of my Norton security off, and have restarted the computer, I disabled tss.exe because it was causing issues, but it still comes up with the same error message. Do the System Restore as far back as you can.
Also, uninstall the Norton stuff. Tear it out by the roots.
Download and run the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your Norton product
Replace it for now with Microsoft's program, which interferes with nothing.

Adobe CS4: Error 1618. Another installation is already in progress.

I can not reinstall the Flash or Fireworks components of my Adobe CS4. I get this error message: Error 1618. Another installation is already in progress. I am attempting to reinstall Adobe Creative Suite 4 because Acrobat was not interfacing with my Microsoft Word. Reinstalling Creative Suite reinstalled Acrobat which now interfaces correctly with Microsoft Word but I can not reinstall Flash or Fireworks which had been working fine. I open my task manager and shut off any unnecessary processes and disable my Norton firewall and antivirus. I have tried multiple times, restarting my computer after uninstalling CS4 before trying to reinstall. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this?

Trying to download QuickTime, says another instalation is in progress

I first tried downloading i-tunes, but it said that I needed to have the latest version of quicktime, so i tried downloading that. When I did it said another instalation is in progress. Is there a way to clear it all and start over?

Another installation?

iTunes was working fine up until today - I clicked on the icon this morning and the Windows installer came up and then another window appeared, headed 'Problem with Shortcut' - the warning message ran 'Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install.'
Any clues?

Run another installer at the end of a LabVIEW installer

Since the DIAdem installer is not an optional installer to include with a LabVIEW built installer, I have decided to copy the files to the destination PC and run the DIAdem installer at the conclusion of my program's installer. This does not work because there is another installer, i.e. my built installer, that is still in progress and it results in the following error. Does anyone know of a way around this?
Note: I have tried it through a batch file and in another executable VI to perform the same action.

VS 2013 error: "Attempted TextBuffer edit operation while another edit is in progress"

I´m using Visual Studio 2013 Version 12.0.21005.1 with VB.NET on Framework 4.5.50938, OS is Windows 7 SP1 32 Bit.
I´m randomly getting the error message
"Attempted TextBuffer edit operation while another edit is in progress"
when trying to edit a source file. The file then remains inaccessible until I restart Visual Studio.
This message seems to appear at random and out of nowhere, sometimes after running or debugging the program, sometimes in the middle of editing. I can edit one file, switch to another one and receive this error.
Sometimes I can work half an hour before this message appears, sometimes only a couple of minutes. I´ve been looking all over the web for solutions but can´t find anything.
This error is beginning to severely disturb my work, so any ideas would be highly appreciated.

Sorry for that we couldn’t repro this issue.
Please check whether you install any add-ins or extension tools in your VS, please disable/remove them, and check it again. I doubt that it would be related to them.
Please also run your VS in safe mode.

I think there is a flaw in ios 5. Notification centre doesn't show missed call, during another call is in progress, after accessing recent calls in phone app, once.

Notification centre in ios 5 is not showing the missed calls when another call is in progress. It shows perfectly before accessing the phone app. But once you access the recent calls in phone app, then afterwards it stops showing the missed calls during another call is in progress.

Forgot to add, this happens, when you receive a call, during the phone is locked, and you receive a call, while the previous call is in progress.

You are probably using the INSTALL CD that comes with Solaris x86.
Don't use it but use the Software CD 1/1 to boot and install the system instead. The INSTALL CD is supposed to be used on a completely blank system (no other OS's) although even there I think Software CD 1/1 does the job.
Also, if you are new to Solaris I advice you to get the FAQ (you can find it on e.g. http://www.science.uva.nl/pub/solaris/solaris2- it should be really helpfull during the first few weeks/months on Solaris

How do I resolve the error "Another installer is currently running, which must be closed before updating" when updating CC on MacOS 10.9.4?

Creative Cloud keeps alerting me to an available update but whenever I try to install it it tells me there is another installer running which must be shut down first.
I've now shut down and restarted the Mac completely and nothing else is running but it still gives me the same error (Error code: 81). See screen shot below.
I'm running Mavericks (OSX 10.9.4). How do I resolve this?

Please try the mentioned steps:
1. Navigate to Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installer and look for CC desktop, if present run the uninstaller to uninstall it.
2. Navigate to Applications/Utilities and look for Adobe Application Manager folder and Creative cloud folder. If present move to trash and empty it.
3. Navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE and rename to OOBE.old
4. Download CC desktop from: https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud and try to install again.
