1.83ghz core 2 duo $999 model

I was just curious to know if anyone has used one of these yet. If so... what are your first impressions?

had the core duo for 2 wks & exchanged for core2..it seems faster but has some start up issues with internet after waking. the core duo was the same. pulling up iphoto with 1,500 pix was qwik. itunes also. haven't done anything with idvd / iweb, but truth be told, i think they seemed the same. i am not a heavy duty user for prof. reasons just an addicted casual user. i would rate either..

    Hi,
Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
    Solution 1:
    1. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down Cmnd+ alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

  • How do I upgrade to latest OSX on Core Duo MBP?

Just inherited an old Macbook Pro (1.83GHz Core Duo, 512 megs of RAM [I upgraded to 2 gigs]) -- this is my first Mac after working with PC for 20+ years of my life.
So the golden question-- what steps do I need to take to upgrade this to the latest OSX? It looks like it's currently running OSX 10.4
    Thanks in advance!

Alright, it says 10.4.11 is the version currently installed. How do I go about upgrading it to 10.6.8? Sorry these all probably sound like stupid questions. I'm totally a Mac newbie Thanks for the help so far.
Upgrade the Ram, you will get nowhere with .512MB.

  • Black Macbook 2.0 GHz Core Duo Ram upgrade question

Kay guys, I can't find the answer to this anywhere.
I have a Black Macbook Intel Core Duo 2.0GHz. It has 1.0 GB of RAM from the factory.
According to wikipedia, OWC, and other sources, this was never an option from the factory! Which has me very confused. So my question is, can I upgrade this Macbook to 4 GB of RAM, utilizing 3 GB, or is the max 2 GB?
And if you could provide supporting evidence that'd be great. I want the mystery solved.
    Please help! Thanks.

  • Will Leopard Run on my Core Duo Macbook?

Will my 1.83ghz core duo macbook run leopard flawlessly? I have 1.5gb of ram and an 80gb HD

    Hi Dafoo,
I cannot say it for sure since 10.5.x is not released yet and only apple insider that might already try it on original macbook.
But based on my experience upgrade from 8 to 9 to os X 10.1, up to 10.4, apple os will backward compatible several version or product line before.
And considering yours is still the active product line version 1 of 2, good chance your macbook will run 10.5.x flawlessly too.
    Good Luck.
ps: check this link, all demo runs on white macbook:

  • Help me choose: Core Duo MBP v Core 2 Duo MB

Ok, for approx the same price I'm getting either
    A) 1.83Ghz Core Duo Macbook Pro
80GB HDD, 15 inch, all usual bells and whistles
    BUT 512MB Ram
    B) 2.0gGhz Core 2 Duo Macbook
80GB HDD, 13 inch, all usual features
    1 GB Ram
I'm thinking (A) is great except for the Ram, can I add RAM myself? Does that void the warranty?
Not sure if the Core 2 Duo v Core Duo is that big a deal breaker?

    hey thanks everyone,
    basically:
    1) Primary use is work: excel, word, powerpoint, calc/pages
    2) It will also be my home entertainment centre, hooked up to external speakers. All DVD watching and gaming etc
    3) Want to be fairly mobile: to and from work on the train. Plane travel once a month.
I am leaning towards the pro, but have some reservations about it being 'refurbished'.
    A) Is the warranty/support any different? It says 1 year limited warranty...
    B) Hardware, such as battery, HDD, superdrive should be as good as new right? And software should be current, not the older versions (e.g. Tiger 10.4.6 or sommat)
One other question, which applies to both: I'm buying it in Asia Pacific but move to Germany soon, will my support be valid there too?

  • Will hard drive from a core duo macbook work in a core 2 duo macbook? (both white macbooks)

I want to replace my 1.83ghz core duo macbook.
Can I put the hard drive from this macbook into another macbook with a 2.4ghz core 2 duo processor?
The 1.83ghz is a white macbook. The 2.4ghz is also a white macbook.
Will it work okay this way?
I am trying to avoid doing a complete re-install.

While the two macbooks take the same hard drive(SATA), the core 2 duo will most likely have a larger hard drive(unless you replaced the original drive in your Core Duo).
Also, you cannot boot the Core 2 Duo computer with a drive from a Core Duo unless you reformat the drive and install OS X from the disks that came with the Core 2 Duo.

First correct the pirate disc issue. Buy OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard from Apple for $19.99 here http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Snow Leopard is the latest version your macbook 1,1 will run. Oitlook is part of the Microsoft Office suite, if you want outlook you'll need to also purchase Office. If you can get by with Apple's mail program there are free alternatives to Office like Libre Office or Open Office.

If you are trying to upgrade using a gray-faced OS X disk from another system, that won't work, as those disks are locked to the system types they are delivered with. You'll need to drop the $29 on a retail copy of Snow Leopard, which is available from the Apple online store. Note Snow Leopard requires 1GB minimum, and you may want at least 2GB for better performance.

  • I'm having frequent RSDs with my MacBook Pro 15" Core Duo Model A1150.

I'm having frequent RSDs with my MacBook Pro 15" Core Duo Model A1150. Checked inside for dust around fans, etc., but none was visible. Laptop gets very warm, more so on the left side than right. Any suggestions for finding the problem & solutions?

    Using Apple Hardware Test
    Kelley Computing - Rember
But it's covered by Apple's warranty - if you ask, they should erase & reinstall OS X then if it still panics without adding any 3rd party software, there has to be some problem with the computer.

Firstly, would such a thing be possible, and if indeed possible how would one go about setting it up?
