1 calendar file, 2 computers

Hi, I want to access a calendar file on two computers. One is a mac powerbook G4 with iCal, one is a MS Server03 with Mozilla Calendar.
What is the best way to do this?
Ideally, I want to have it via a webserver. It seems there are some issues with publishing Calendars (ftp not possible, but webDAV).
Can I upload the *.ics file on a ftp server, download it, sync it with the local version, edit it in either iCal or Calendar, upload it, download it, sync it with the other local version,... ?
I've been trying this via an ipod and synchronization via iTunes (and not webserver). However, iCal would put the most recent version on the iPod, I could sync that with Calendar, and then put the new ics file back on the iPod. But then, when i synced it with iTunes, the edits weren't there anymore. Is that what should happen, or did I do something wrong?
Thanks for your help!
powerbookG4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Syncing to an iPod is one-way only. When you sync with iTunes it always overlays the iPod calendar files with the current iCal files. You could do this I suppose,
Put calendar events in iCal, and sync to the iPod with iTunes. That will create an ics file in the Calendars folder on the iPod. Before disconnecting either turn off calendar syncing or turn off auto-start iTunes when the iPod is plugged in.
Plug the iPod into your Windows PC and load the ics file into Mozilla Calendar. Edit it as you wish and sync to the iPod again. Now the iPod ics file should be synced with Mozilla.
Plug the iPod back into your Mac. Start up iCal. Delete the calendar from iCal. Import the ics file from the iPod Calendars folder into iCal. At that point iCal, the iPod, and Mozilla Calendar should all be in agreement.
Cumbersome certainly, but it should work.

  • Events from my subscribed to Yahoo calendar are showing up in iCal one hour off and all calendars and computers have been reset to Central Time.

I Use Yahoo calendar as my main calendar so my dh can access it from work, so I subscribe to it for iCal. I recently moved from Eastern Time zone to Central. I didn't re-set all my calendars and apps right away. I have all my calendars and computers on Central Time now but events from my Yahoo calendar are showing up in Eastern Time in iCal. I cant edit them on my Mac or iPad because they're events from a subscribed to calendar.
So, how do I get these events to show up at the right time?
    Thanks,

  • How do I get iCal in Lion to read my old 10.6 calendar files, notational velocity files

    Hi everyone,
I recently upgraded from 10.6 to 10.8 and did a clean install. I backed everything up using Time Machine and have chosen to transfer most things manually as there were a lot of applications and system files that I did not want to copy over. However, I've run into an issue when trying to transfer over my files for iCal -- I found the old calendar data in Users/my name/Library/Calendars, and copied it over into the Library file on my new machine. There wasn't a Calendars file yet, so I created it. However, when I open iCal, it doesn't show my old calendars-- I tried manually importing them, but it wants me to import each individual event -- there must be an easier way to do this. Where does iCal read its calendar data by default in 10.8? Do I have to do anything additional to get iCal to read it?
Additionally, I can't find my old notational velocity notes -- they should be in Application Support under my old Library files, but I am not seeing them. A spotlight search hasn't yielded anything. Anyone know where they might be? I hadn't changed the default, so I imagine they ought to be there.
    Best,

A quick look at their web site shows I've misinterpreted what you said - Notational Velocity isn't related to iCal. However if you are still having a problem with that the makers would be the people to ask.
I'm not sure why you can't get iCal files to work if they are in the correct place. In 10.6.8 the Calendar folder includes a folder for each calendar, and these contain the .ics files which represent the actual events. I don't know whether 10.8 has altered the format as I don't use it.
You originally said ' I found the old calendar data in Users/my name/Library/Calendars, and copied it over into the Library file on my new machine.' - did you copy the entire Calendars folder intact?

  • I have a "Calendars" file on my desktop after visiting the Genius Bar.  When opened it shows recent calendar files. How do I get it off the Desktop?

How do I get a "Calendars" file off my desktop.  Where is it supposed to go?  It has files of recent calendars in it and I'm afraid to delete it.

    Thank you.
When I tried I was given a notice that there was a newer version in the library, so I trashed it.

  • In Mountain Lion - where are the calendar files stored?

My wife synced her calendars with icloud and google calendar and wiped out her events. I have backups on a HD and Time Machine but I do not know where the calendar files are stored in ML.
I previous OS's I would look in Application Support but that does not seem to work in ML.
Where can I find these calendar files stored.
    Thank you

They are in ~/Library/Calendars, where the '~' represents the user's home folder. The problem is that that Library folder is invisible now. You can easily access it by holding down the option key and choosing Library from the Finder's Go menu.

  • Saved a Calendar file to .ics file on desktop. How do I restore it?

As part of a troubleshoot, a friend saved a calendar file to the desktop, resulting in an ics file. He then deleted the file from Calendar.  How does he get it back into Calendar?
    .......Mike

    My friend reported back:
    #1
Double-Clicking on .ics file results in ADD EVENT dialogue box with instructions to:
“Select Destination Calendar": (Only choice is “New Calendar”)
Hitting “Okay” to that choice results in msg: "Calendar can’t read this Calendar File”
    #2
Dragging .ics file from Desktop into Calendar results in exactly the same
    results as Double-clicking shown above…….

  • Is it possible to lose all calendar settings on exchange server if you delete the Library/Calendar file?

I set up on Office 2011 for mac calendars for multiple direct reports that I have given access to a deligate. She will put info into the calendar and it will show up on her side, but not mine, and vise versa. All on Exchange 2007 server. So I read a piece that said to delete the Library/Calendar files and it will reconnect as it sees there is not one.
Now I have no calendar or appointments. What to do.
Bye the way the reason I was doing this was I was tired of Office and was migrating back to iCal and Mail.app

Is the CalDAV account information specific to me or would it be specific to the author of the calendar who initially sent out the invite?
Will all the petinent updating and manipulating permissions remain as they were intended per the original invite?
Many thanks again.  I was hesitant to post thinking I was missing something simple and standard.  Thanks for your quick and courteous response.
    You are welcome.
Since shared information is temporary yours (temporary while being shared) you should be fine. CalDav is just underlying exchange protocol. So as long as you can see that info shared -CalDav is just a delivery vehicle.
As far as permissions - yes they are going to stay. Thousands of us share for example Google calendars, cause Google integrated calendars sync in IOS mail. The question is just as simple as if your exchange supports it and if they(your IT) are going to allow your ipad/iphone connect to it.(Make sure to get their instructions if your exchange requires specific setup)

  • Convert iPhone calendar file to importable iCal file

For reasons which would take waaay too long to describe here, I find myself in a situation of having to import an iPhone calendar file (Calendar.sqlitedb) into iCal. I've saved the iPhone file to my Mac desktop. The iPhone file is an SQ Lite database file.
I was taken aback to find that this is not one of the formats iCal is designed to import! I found an application (iCal2SQlite) which goes the other way, but I can't find anything which goes the way I'm needing.
Does anyone know of a way to convert an iPhone calendar file into something iCal can import (like maybe an Outlook calendar file)?
    Many thanks!
(P.S. Just so you know...importing the iPhone file into iCal is the ONLY option I have. As I said, it would take too long to explain why that is...but unfortunately that's the bottom line.)

Dogger, I wish I could help, but I searched for days on this, and posted both here and on the iPhone discussion, but I didn't find a solution. I also went to the Genius Bar at the local Apple Store. No luck there, either.
I ended putting the events in by hand from 1/1/09 on...but I lost everything prior to that (although I still have the calendar database file on my Mac).
Definitely an oversight on Apple's part, I'd say...

  • Is there a way to recover purged calendar files for Tungsten T5?

I accidently purged 2 months of calendar files from my Tungsten T5 a few days ago. The kicker to this scenario is I hotsynced my PDA 2 months ago. I did not check the "save archive on pc" in the dialog box. Is there a way to recover the deleted calendar records?
    Post relates to: Tungsten T5

I take it that the calendar data is also not in Palm DT any longer? Have you synced more then once? There is a backup made automatically in the Palm software; but it would be overwritten if you have synced more then once.
If your data is not on the device, or in Palm DT software, and you have synced more then once, there would not be any way to recover your data unless your computer has been backed up at some point within the 2 months.

  • Sharing a calendar file

How can I send a complete calendar file to another Mac user? So far only individual photos are sent.

When I try to print my calendar project (creating a calendar using iPhoto) to a .pdf file Adobe freezes up.
We have been creating these family photo calendars for a few years and I want to be able to store and share them electronically. A accurate .pdf file would be great as I do not want to change them.
    Thanks

  • Copy my MAC Calendar file from iCloud to my iPhone 5S

Copy my MAC Calendar file from iCloud to my iPhone 5S

If it is already in iCloud just go to Settings/iCloud and turn on Calendar. It will then remain in sync with your Mac calendar and any other devices that are connected to the same iCloud account.

  • Why do I get "iCal can't read this calendar file. No events have been added to your iCal calendar." when I am trying to sync an Apple Workshop appointment?

I made a reservation for an Apple store workshop, but when I try to open the download in iCal (Lion) , I keep getting an "iCal cannot read this calendar file." message.  Very frustrating.  Any insights would be appreciated.

    Greetings,
What version of the Mac OS and what version of iCal are you running?
Are you using MobileMe calendars (or any other server based calendars like Google) in your iCal?
While you answer those questions you can try the following troubleshooting:
    1. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal 1 at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
    2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.
    Hope that helps.

  • Importing EMailed Calendar files into iPhone Calendar

I receive .ics calendar files by EMail from work. on my iMac it is just a matter of dragging the file across to iCal and the file is imported. Is there any way to do this with the iPhone. I receive the EMail with the attached file, but clicking on the file just gives me a blank screen.

The iPhone's Mail app _does not_ support .ics files. Event invitations can only be accepted on the iPhone via a MS Exchange account. Else, you need to access the .ics file on your computer, then sync the calendar to your phone.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • 'mail event' creates empty calendar file

I can send ical events by adding invitees, but when I use the control-click 'mail event' method, the ics that gets attached to the mail is empty (when you try to add it to ical it errors with 'This calendar file is empty. No new new events have been added to your ical calendars'. This has worked previously, and works on other macs, no problem.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I'm having this problem too, and I have all the latest updates installed. Not sure where to go next.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.
