1. Dictation lost; 2. Deleting email

1. I have been using dictation with NOTES. Now, the microphone does not appear on the keyboard. I went to SETTINGS, GENERAL, KEYBOARD and "dictation" does not appear as a choice. How can I turn on "dictation"?
2. I have trouble deleting email on the iPad. I think they are gone but they reappear. I've tried "DELETING" and moved to "TRASH" but I can't figure out how to empty TRASH. Are "DELETING" and "TRASH" essentially the same? How can I permanantly delete my emails?

Are you using iOS 6? I will assume you are...
Regarding dictation, go to Settings > General > Siri and turn it on. Also go to Settings > General > Date & Time and choose "Set Automatically".
Regarding mail trash, that depends on which type of email account you have (who your provider is).
For example, my POP provider has a settng as follows:
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > [mail account provider name] > Advanced > Remove [deleted messages] [After one (day, week, month)]

This happened to me as well, the mail toolbar disappeared. I had an Exchange mail account that seemed to cause the problem. I went into the General settings under the Mail, Contacts, and Calendars; turned all the setttings under the Exchange account from 'ON' to 'OFF', which fixed it. Then I went back in and re-activated the Exchange account. It fixed the issue for me. Good luck!

Help finding deleted emails

I am a new user to Mail 5.
I had imported all of my mail boxes and emails from Entourage -- several years worth.
Subsequent to that I have switched ISPs which required some adjustments to how email accounts were accessed.
I had continuing problems with one account that would not log on and download emails. The only solution was to delete the email account completely and install it new. The new account works.
However, all of those old emails from that account were deleted.
Can anyone suggest a way to retreive those old emails?
I have time machine installed, so in theory, those old emails could be accessed if I knw how.
What I don't want to do is to reinstate the earlier version of Mail itself since the new settings work and I have also received emails my all my accounts (12) which would be overwriten by such a global change.
What I am seeking to do is to meld the old emails into the new account so all are accessable now.
Any suggestions?

Yesterday when I started my 12" Powerbook as soon as it turn on, all the settings went back to the original, I can't find none of my photos in IPHOTO ( It says is empty )or my songs from ITUNES( Empty also ), lost all my emails, but the weird thing is that my hard drive still the same size and my programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, and others still show on the HD, only had to be reinstalled when I clicked on them, has anyone had the same problem? Did I lost my profile???

Agree with Red Dwarf. I had came across the same situation as you do now before, i'm clueless and send my PB 12" to Apple store for the experts to check on it. Resulting that I had rename my Accounts profile where the user was 'duplicate' and it was back to normal after the guys did their 'magic' work on it. You might wanna give a shot to delete the 2nd user on your Accounts, but be extra caution as you might not wanna delete the wrong one where it might clear off the original account you have your files (iTunes, mails, Photos,etc.)

Can I restore deleted emails?

I was deleting emails and lost all emails in my Inbox. I do not have Time Machine set up.

Thank you for your help...I had the setting to clear the trash after 30 days and I guess that's what happened to my lost emails. I'm not sure what I did to send those emails into trash but since they were more than 30 days old they didn't last long in trash. What's in trash now is only emails deleted in the last 30 days....

Automatical deleting emails in inbox

Hello,
I am running email application on my C5-00 (from server seznam.cz) everything is ok, but suddendly all emails are deleted in inbox and also (due to synchronization) all emails are deleted in the server (inbox) as well. Is it any application issue or virus? can you help please? I have lost lot of emails. Just to say, that I am using Outlook 2007 for this emails as well.

Hello, my girlfriend has this problem too. After reading email on Nokia C6-00 the email is message deleted from inbox. Fortunately is it deleted only on phone, not on the server. She uses gmail.com .

To change the iCloud ID on your phone you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

IPhone deleting emails from folders

I've been having a problem with an iPhone 3GS deleting emails from folders. This has only been happening for about 3 or 4 weeks but is a very critical issue. I've lost several critical emails that are not recoverable! It makes using the iPhone to view saved messages useless! Maybe time for a droid?
The issue may have started when I upgraded to version 5.0.1 When you select a folder your see the email you want and then it just disappears. It is deleted and not able to find it anywhere. I'm using AT&T email which is Yahoo. I log on to Yahoo email and the email has also been completely deleted. I have been using the 3GS with Yahoo mail for over two years without any issue. Something in IOS has changed that has added the new unwanted feature. Apple needs to get it resolved! Does anyone know when a fix is coming?

I've yet to hear of that issue specifically previous to this post. You might test it with another account just so you're not puting your real account in danger. It definiatly won't hurt to update. I would also turn on the "ask before deleting" option in the settings to see if that helps any.

Iphone 5 is deleting emails from server since upgrade to 7.02

since upgrading to ios 7.02 (iphone 5) my emails are being deleted from the server even though it is mark never.
Have lost a huge amount of emails especially as I went through the fiasco when the first upgrade decided to downlood all my emails from the server including the older ones. (Now these are not available on the server since the 7.02 upgrade).
Emails have also been deleted from my mac which is synced some how.
I used to keep my inbox on iphone 5 lean and my inbox on imac complete but it not seems that I can not do this.
This is crazy.
I use this for my business and losing important emails is not funny.
ps No more upgrades for me. (Phone or Software - will be looking elsewhere when changing phone)
How can I stop this happening and how can I get my mail back?

Thank you for your response.
It seems that others have been hit with this issue.
I note the issue of the old emails being downloaded because the server after the upgrade thought that it was a new device.
I resolved this by deleting the old emails from the phone. (ios7.1) which did not delete from server even though as you stated imap configuration is designed to do this.
The reason that it did not delete from the server is that I set my email account on the iphone 5 to never delete from server.
Which is what I want as I wanted to keep the old emails on my server for reference ( I even pay extra to my hosting company for the extra storage of emails ) and not have thousands of emails on my iphone.
However when I upgraded to ios7.2 even though no changes to email acounts were made by me it deleted the emails from my imac and also from my server.
It seems that somehow the phone was being signed into the server as new device orginally when it was upgraded to ios 7.1 and even though I deleted the the thousands of emails from the phone it did not delete from the server as I had set the account on the phone as never delete from server.
When I upgraded to ios7.2 it seems that the phone remembered the old emails that were deleted and ignored the setting I had chosen to never delete from the server which resulted in the old emails being deleted from server which of course I did not want.
Some of the emails I needed went back as far as 2007.
The setting chosen to not delete emails on server after upgrade to ios7.2 is still ticked but seems to ignore it.
This is unacceptable that a phone upgrade can create this havoc. ( These are my business emails which I no longer have)
I have invested some £10,000 on apple products and this is how they repay me.
Will not be buying an iphone again.

I will just have to keep all my emails on my iphone until I change my phone.

Z-30 deleted emails on server

I have a new Z-30, activated yesterday. When I delete an email on the device, I hit the button for deleting on the Hub only, not Hub and server. However, after a few minutes, it deletes it off my email server as well. I lost over 30 days of emails due to this. They do not appear in the deleted email folders.
This makes my Z-30 useless for my email purposes.
I know the difference on the how the Hub works, and yes, I am hitting the correct option. I just tried it again with test emails to my three email accounts.
Opened them up individual, hit delete, went to screen asking which option, I select the Hub only option; a few minutes later, gone from my email inbox on my server as well.
Any ideas?

I'm sorry your emails are being deleted when choosing the right option on your device tiwamarcus. I know this is frustrating. Have you check all your HUB setting to ensure they are set up appropriately? Here is a link with some steps to all the HUB settings http://vz.to/1nmRaqB . I would also disable your email and set it up again along with your HUB options. Resetting the functionality may help with the issue you're having. I was unable to locate any reported issues with this particular feature. Do you have the latest software on your device. Please keep us posted.

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

HT5361 Just now accidentally deleted email account. No warning appears and was deleted. Mail was not back up ed. Does exist any way how for Undo of this delete operation (need to recover mails and contacts there)

If the account was an IMAP account your emails should re-appear if you recreate the email account. If the account was POP you hopefully have backup (TIme Machine?) you can restore the emails from.
