1 IP address for 3 websites. Odd behavior based on list order.
Any input is appreciated. I have a Mac Pro with the latest updated Server running. I have one IP address and am serving a total of 3 websites. They are in this order in the "sites" listing of Server Admin:
1) www.domain1.org
2) sub1.domain2.org
3) sub2.domain2.org
All are enabled and set with my IP address and port 80. They point to different directories within the server's drive. www.domain1.org has a rewrite rule to send its traffic to a separate machine for some legacy applications.
If I arrange them as shown above, domain1.org and sub1.domain2.org work. Traffic to Sub2 is sent to sub1 instead, despite being configured to have different data directories.
If I swap sub1 and sub2 so that sub2 is second in the list and sub1 is third, sub2 begins to work and Sub1 shows Sub2's data.
If I move domain1.org (the one with the rewrite) to the 2nd or 3rd spot in the list, it ALSO begins pointing to the data directory of whichever sub# is first in the list.
I know I've explained this terribly, but I feel like there's something extremely simple I'm missing, and I hope someone here can help me out. Thanks in advance.

A web page is content, a web server is a computer. Only computers, and other networked DEVICES can have addresses.
www.server.com will have an IP address
default.html will not have an IP address

Help for Highlight Tool odd behavior in Acrobat 7.1.0
Hi all,
I am using Acrobat to mark up several PDF documents provided by a software vendor. In some PDFs, the highlight tool erases one or more words when used. It is not hiding them, because an Undo will remove the highlighting and the word or words are still erased. In some cases, the words are within a shaded box, but not always. Does anyone have a clue as to what document property/properties might be causing this? Is it something I can change prior to marking up the document? Thanks in advance.One opinion. Thoughts? : perhaps the rendering engine used by Word to produce the PDF is not quite compatible with versions of Acrobat before 8

2nd email address for website?
After creating a website with iWeb (published through 60 day trial with .Mac), I've been advised that I may not want to use my primary email address on the contact page.
I'm currently using the Mac Mail program that came with our iMac (Earthlink is our ISP).
Would the simplist way be to create a second email address within my Mac Mail account? Is there any reason to create a completely new account?

Since it appears your Earthlink email account is your primary account, you can use your primary .Mac email account for your website but regarding .Mac account aliases, the following was copied from .Mac Help:
You can create up to five email aliases to help prevent unwanted messages from being sent to your primary .Mac Mail account or for use with online groups and chat websites. For example, you might want to share your main .Mac Mail address with friends and family only and use email aliases for online registrations, purchasing products, joining mailing lists, and so on. This will help you better manage the email you receive and monitor the sources of unwanted messages. You can even send email using an email alias.
Seems to me it would be simpler to either add an email "alias"
to my Mail (the application that came preloaded on our iMac)
primary account, or create a new account.
As already provided, since your Earthlink email account is your primary account, you can use your .Mac email address for your website or go ahead and create/use an alias for the same but you cannot create another or separate .Mac account. Your existing account is it and you can create up to 5 email aliases at no extra charge. If you want another separate email account, you can purchase an email only account through your primary .Mac account at an extra charge which I believe is only $10/year.

It depends on how your email address is used on your website. If you include an Email Me link, you shouldn't be vulnerable to spam but if provided out in the open for anyone to see and for spambots that search the internet for valid email addresses provided out in the open on a website, etc., you will be very vulnerable to spam. But as already provided, if your .Mac email address associated with your .Mac account is not your primary email address and likely won't be, it doesn't matter but this is what email aliases are primarily designed for so I would protect my .Mac email account address in case you decide to make this your primary email address and use an alias instead on your website.
After several moves in a relatively short period of time having to change ISPs and my email address along with it since I formally used my ISP provided email account as my primary address, I now use my .Mac account as my primary email address since when moving and changing ISPs doesn't matter - I can always keep the same email address regardless. -

You just need to register the email address you want for your PayPal account to the form, so that the current PayPal email used by the form will be replaced. To do that, simply open the form, go to Options -> Collect Payments. In the PayPal Setup tab, enter the new email address and click Register.

I am having trouble following the boards and the Server Admin instructions to make sure I can activate a website.

If you put the IP address in a browser, it returns the default domain which is just the apache/osx server page. 64.142.85.71
If you put the first domain name in a browswer, it does the same. www.JoelQuigley.com
How do I setup the DNS to www.ziggythewinegal.com which is in the folder WebServer>ziggy>index.php ?64.142.85.71 has an existing public DNS translation, so you'll be adding DNS CNAME (alias) records for the each of the additional hosts into your public DNS at WorldNIC DNS servers.
Your local host either isn't running DNS, or it's running local DNS. If it's running local DNS, then hopefully it's not running with the same domain name as your public DNS services; that you have an external DNS zone and an internal DNS zone, with an external DNS domain and an internal domain name. If you are running DNS locally and are using the same domain name for internal and external DNS servers, then you'll also need to add the translation for the new web sites into your local DNS server configuration.
Once the translation is added, add - as John Lockwood indicates - Sites into your web server.
The numbers of folders can vary. Different sites may or may not be in the same folder, depending on what you're doing. Multiple ttraditional static HTML web sites are probably stored in separate folders. A single site with several names can be in the same folder. A web content management system (CMS) can be stored in one folder.
If you have a firewall here (and you should), then you may need some additional steps. Particularly if you're running NAT, and don't already have rules and port-forwarding enabled on the server. Given it appears you're using mail with this server, there are likely some rules in place, though you'll need to confirm that port 80 TCP and possibly port 443 TCP are (also) being forwarded for your web services.

I ended up getting a new phone, straight through Apple. I called their technical support and went through all he basics again and they decided to replace it. Was a pretty quick process - after defaulting and resetting the whole phone (about 2 hours), I called them back to inform that there was no change, so they set up the order.
I had to give my CC# so they could hold a charge on it (in case I didn't send my old phone bach, which they sent me a pre-posted package to send it in anyway). Had a brand new iPhone 4S in my hands in 4 days, which was pretty decent. I had uploaded everything previously to iCloud, so setting up the new phone was a snap.
Only thing I really didn't like was they charged me almost 30 bucks for shipping or processing, or something. Not so sure that should have been my responsibility after spending so much on a brand new product, only to have to have it warrantied after, like, a month. -
Ever since upgrading to OS Mountain Lion I have to provide my email address for a particular website if my Mac has been restarted, even though I indicate on the website that I want to stay signed in to the website for two weeks at a time. When I had OS Snow Leopard, at this website I did not have to input my email address more often than every 2 weeks, no matter how often my computer was restarted.

Firefox appears to have made some changes in the last couple of weeks. In the past, if I were on, say, the Bank of America website, bankofamerica.com would appear in one of the lines at the top left portion of the screen. When I finished my business with B of A, I could erase or overtype that address, type in the address of the website I wanted to visit next-- americanexpress.com, ubs.com, etc.,--hit Enter, and I would be connected to the new website. It appears to me that this capability no longer exists; if it does, I don't know how to use it. I also cannot find any back or forward arrows allowing one to move between screens. If the features I've mentioned are, in fact, still available, please tell me how to use them.

Odd behavior when using custom Composite/CompositeContext and antialiasing
Hi,
I created a custom Composite/CompositeContext class and when I use it with antialiasing it causes a black bar to appear. I seems it has nothing to do with the compose() code but just that fact that I set my own Composite object. The submitted code will show you what I mean. There are 3 check boxes 1) allows to use the custom Composite object, 2) allows to ignore the compose() code in the CompositeContext and 3) toggles the antialiasing flag in the rendering hints. When the antialiasing flag is set and the Composite object is used the bar appears regardless of if the compose() method is executed or not. If the Composite object is not used the bar goes away.
The Composite/CompositeContext class performs clipping and gradient paint using a Ellipse2D.Float instance.
a) When the Composite is not used the code does a rectangular fill.
b) When the Composite is used it should clip the rectangular fill to only the inside of a circle and do a gradient merge of background color and current color.
c) If the compose() method is ignored then only the background is painted.
d) When antialiasing is turned on the black bar appears, i) if you ignore the compose() method it remains, ii) if you do not use the Composite object the bar disappears (???)
NOTE: the compose method's code is only for illustration purposes, I know that AlphaComposite, clipping and/or Gradient paint can be used to do what the example does. What I am trying to find out is why the fact of simply using my Composite object with antialiasing will cause the odd behavior. Been trying to figure it out but haven't, any help is appreciated.

All the limits you mention 100 e-mails at a time and 500 in a four hour time frame are limitations imposed by your mail provider, not Thunderbird. Thunderbird places no restrictions on the maximum number of recipients.
