    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • Error mesage when trying to load songs onto ipod, computer is authorized

my husband and I have 2 different user IDs on vista and when I tried to load some songs from our public itunes directory onto his ipod, an error pops up saying this computer is not authorized to play these songs. When I try to authorize the computer in the itunes store it says, computer already authorized but I continue to get the error. I logged out of my account and back in but it still isn't working. Now when I tried to sync my iphone under my user id on the laptop I'm getting the error message that the computer is not authorized so it can't sync my iphone apps. It worked fine a week ago, this is not a new computer.

I have the exact same problem, meaning I have to reinstall a game I bought in iTtunes Store every time I plug in my iPod.
I just tried the signing out, restart, signing in proces, but it didn't work for me.. any other suggestions how to solve this?
I've been experiencing this problem ever since I updated itunes to 8.1, and even now after updated to 8.2 it's still the same..

  • Help! Ipod / Computer Issues

Hi! This is my 2nd post! Please Help! I got an Ipod last Sunday & the newer models do not come w/ a software cd. I am getting a code 28 error under device manager / ipod not installed properly. I did what it says...downloaded itunes 7. My computer reconizes new hardware found, but will not allow me to load software w/out a cd.
I spoke w/ Apple's tech support & thay suggested I try the ipod on another computer &/ or purchase PCI USB Card.
Any advice? Ipod works fine on my neighbors computer & my computer has a USB 2.0. Hmmmmm??????

You must have your internet connecting before you download the iPod software under iTunes 7

  • When i plug in the iPod computer speakers make a screeching sound.

I think this issue has bin going on ever since i have my ipod whick is christmas 2005. but i just write bout it now because i never had time...ok so... When i plug in the iPod everything goes fine, windows does that litle blirp sound, itunes recognizes it. But everytime i plug my iPod into the computer it does a screeching sound a bit like static in the computer speakers... or about 30 seconds ten it stops. I got my iPod serviced and replced in May [Good service Apple!, way to go!!] so both my OLD iPod and New iPod did/do this.... and my friends ipod video/nano does this also..... but from what i can remember my iPod shuffle didnt do that. MY SOTWARE IS ALL UP TO DATE!

  • How do i move songs i had on a previous ipod/ computer to a new computer

I had an ipod classic and have songs and books on an old computer.  I have since replaced the ipod and computer.
I would like to take the old songs and books a put them on my new ipod.

Thanks for responding Deggie!  However, this didn't help me.  I guess I should fill you in on the whole story....I got the older iPod Nano from my son.  It had some songs already on it plus I uploaded a few more from CD's. I don't seem to have any of these songs listed in the iTunes library & can only see them on "on this iPod".  I just bought a brand new iPod Nano, 7th generation, I think, & want to move the songs from the "old" Nano to the new one.  I'm afraid of I sync to iTunes & there aren't any other songs listed that I'll lose all my songs from the "old" iPod.  I tried to a back up of the "old" iPod but that option is greyed out on the menu.  Any ideas of what I can do to get the songs moved over?  I saw a software prodcut listed in another discussion called "iMacsoft iPod to PC Transfer."  Is this something I could use to do this?  Are there any "freeware" software tools that do the same thing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

  • Ipod computer. Would an external hard drive be the remedy?

First off, I'd like to apologize if this has been answered many times over.
I have 37.2gigs of hard drive on this computer, as well as another 13gig drive but that's not important. I would like to upgrade from my current mp3 player to an 80gig ipod. I've never actually used an external hard drive myself, but would one allow me to do all the things an ipod should be able to do? Charge, transfer files, not explode my computer, etc.? Assuming of course the external drive has adequate space.

Yes, it would be a very good way to manage your iPod, and I've done it this way (via an ext hd) for quite a while now.

  • Transferring songs to my friends Ipod ( Computer un-authorized???? )

I am here with my friend, and he doesn't have many songs on his Ipod. Me, I have 205 songs, and Would like to give my friend some songs. But I plug his iPod into my computer and click 'sync' under 'devices' and it says that my computer is un- authorized and needs authorization. First of all, I don't know what its asking for, my account or his, and why do I need this anyway? Apple is trying so hard for security, but they end up causing more pain then they help stop. I mean, whats the harm in sharing music with my friends? Even if someone stole my computer, It wouldn't matter because they would just get music, big deal. My friend can't remember his apple ID, the screen name or the password, but I remember mine. But apparently it doesn't want my authorization, which is the stupidest thing ever scince its my computer, and so now I am stuck here trying everything I can to just give my friend a few songs, and Apple is too cheap to let people do that... they just want the money, and thats why Mp3 rocket is so much better then iTunes store. Anyway, does anyone know why this is happening? ( and no, don't give me crap about how mp3 rocket is doing it, because its not, I've heard it all. )

Would like to give my friend some songs
if he legally obtained the songs, it would work fine.

  • 3rd Generation ipod -computer wont support a newer itunes version.....

okay, I am having serious issues! back in July I accepted an update on my ipod and when I did that, it told me that I needed a newer version of itunes, I tried to download it but i got a message that said "iphone and ipod require windows xpservice Pack 2 or later"... i have an old computer, can't get a new one right now & so getting a newer version of ituens seems impossible with my current system....my question is when I connect my ipod it says "The ipod "..." cannot be used because it requires itunes version 7.6 or later.... got to ... etc"... my computer wont support the newer itunes version so is there a way that I can reset the ipod (back to how it was when I purchased it) to where I am still able to use it with the current itunes version that I have on my computer???
(i tried to go to a friend's computer & we goofed & the sync only downloaded the songs that I purchased; (i know-duh) so I've lost over 800 tunes,,, (that are still in my library on my computer but I can't sync it because of the trouble i described above...)
    am i making sense?
Can anyone help me? please?? I would forever be indebted to you!
    Highest of Blessings...
    Seriously Disconbobulated,
    Sonia

Why not go to www.microsoft.com and install Service Pack 3 on your computer and then download and install the latest iTunes?

  • IPOD COMPUTER RESET

Recently I have been having trouble with mmy ipod video, everytime itunes trys to update my ipod with a large number of songs or a video my computer screen dims and tells me the computer has to be reset, when I rest the computer and check the error log report it says somthing about allocation overflow with my ipod..

Sounds like you're probably using a laptop. You'll need to connect your laptop to its A/C charger because the iPod puts too much of a drain on its [your laptop's] battery when it is updating a large amount of songs.
If you're not using a laptop, or if you are and it's connected to its A/C charger... then I'm not sure.
