1. nothing synced. 2. the iPod error 1415 cannot restore.

HELP!!
My iPod has done this for about a couple months or so now and I can't take it anymore!
I got the new Lady Gaga album, The Fame Monster. I uploaded it to my PC and it was able to sync all of the songs but the last one. I tried to unplug the iPod then plug it back in but that reallt didn't help at all. So I thought it would be good to restore it and everything would be fine. I restored it and started to resync all of my songs. What happens is that nothing can fully sync and I had to take the iPod in and out and then it ended up saying it couldn't sync so I didn't know what to do. I restored it again and the error 1415 pops up saying that it cannot restore. So, I have a problem. How can I get my iPod to restore and how can I get all the songs to sync on it without having it stop and sync in chunks or mess up again?
Please help!!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

I had an iPod Classic 5th Gen that I upgraded from 30gb to 80gb.  The problem I'm having is that it will not sync more than about 5.4gb worth of songs.  The iPod begins to freeze mid sync and the (-69) error message haults the sync process.  The hard drive has been upgraded, it has a new logicboard (with 128mb RAM), new housing, battery, hold / headphone jack.  Basically the only original parts are the bezel, click wheel, screen, and data ribbons. Have attempted the 3Rs and have also tried to isolate potentially corrupt audio files and remove them, but this did not seem to be the primary cause.  The sync failure consistently happens at just under a 1000 songs (5.4gb) and then it starts to error (-69) any song after that.  Your advise would be enthusiastically received.

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

  • "The iPod ... cannot be synced because there is not enough free space.."

    Error Message:
"The iPod... cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 21.62 GB required)."
I moved my iTunes library FROM a Win 7 32bit HD to a new Win 7 32bit HD.
On the old HD  iTunes  uses 145GB of HD space.
On the new HD iTunes uses  145GB of HD space.
On both instances of iTunes I have selected "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC"
My iTouch is a 3rd gen. 64GB unit.
In the past I would only take 75% of the available space. Now I am short 22GB.
         What am I missing?
    TIA,

    Appears to be fixed.
Moved all music recorded at 128bit or less to different location.
Moved video files to different location.
Synced sections of iTunes collection individually: Only Music, then Podcasts, etc.
Seems to be working fine.  Apps also came over without changes.
????  Only thing missing is my PLAYLISTS.
????    Someone know where they reside on my old HD list and why they did not come over?

  • 'The "ipod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1604)

My 2nd GEn Ipod has been bricked by the v3 update.
I cannot restore it, after a long wait 'preparing ipod for restore' it says:

I have latest itunes, have restarted pc and tried alternative usb ports.
    Any suggestions?
Is there a telephone number for apple support?

I have the same problem as Bikeman and resolved it by using another computer. When we installed itunes on this pc it prompted us that the touch needed to be restored which we did and wiped it clean.
We went back to the original PC and it prompted us to update. It trashed it again. So we restored it as above. We synced it without updating the software and all is ok. We now have a touch on the old version of firmware and am £2.99 worse off. This is rubbish and the support is even worse, but then they have our money so what do you expect?. Anyone got any ideas how we can install the firmware or get our money back?
The only suggestion to you Bikeman would be to try uninstalling Itunes and reinstalling it. Connect your touch and hopefully it will ask you to restore. My only concern would be do you lose your apps and music you have bought on PC. I am new to this apple rubbish.

I would understand it if you checked email on your Mac, and then those messages were not available on your iOS devices if you had the advanced account setting "remove copy from server after retrieving message:" set to immediately.
I looked through my iPhone settings and don't even see an option to tell my phone to pull the only copy of a message and delete it from the server.
Possibly there is another setting in Lion (I am running Snow Leopard still) that tells your Mac to only synchronize mail to your iOs devices and is not pulling mail directly from iCloud.
You could try disabling your current iCloud email account in Mac Mail, and adding a new one and just telling Mail it is a standard IMAP account (imap.mail.me.com incoming and smtp.mail.me.com outgoing).
I did that for Leopard to get my email even to work after MobileMe is cancelled and it seems to work fine with my iPhone.
If that doesn't work, you can delete that new email account and re-enable the temporarily disabled iCloud email account from above.
    Hope this helps.

When trying to restore and update my ipod touch it comes up with an error message saying: "The ipod can not be restored this device isnt eligible for the requested build" How do i fix this?

I am having the same issue. I just had the battery replaced at a third party store. The battery powers the ipod up but it needs to be restored. It is saying it isn't eligible for rebuild. I am running MAC OS 10.4.11  itunes v. 9.0   and I just want it to be restored. I need help.  Oh and its an 8 gb ipod touch.

  • Recently got a new iPod 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod - any suggestions?

Recently got a new iPod Touch 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod after multiple attempts, despite all songs showing properly on the Mac and multiple syncs occurring after all songs were properly reflected on the Mac.  I updated iTunes Match from the iTunes Store menu as well pre-sync.
I should mention that I had previously had the library on a Dell (which is still running) and shared it on my home network.  While all iTunes purchases now show in the Dell, the Mac is the device I use for all syncs.
There appears to be no rhyme or reason to the iCloud physical sync failure - some songs were legacy, some were purchased via the PC, some on the old iPod.
The Mac shows all the songs correctly and none show iCloud status -all have been downloaded, but the downloaded songs that were previously showing up as iCloud based aren't syncing to the iPod.
Is there any way to force all music being seen by my iPod as iCloud to download to so I can listen to them offline?  Is there a way to force the sync from iTunes?

The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts.  Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone.

  • On my PC, in I-Tunes, my iPod (touch) button disappears every time I try to sync or update.  Everything has been rebooted, but no changes. Any ideas on how to sync to the IPod?

On my PC, in I-Tunes, the iPod (touch) button disappears every time I try to sync or update.  Everything has been rebooted, but no changes. Any ideas on how to sync to the IPod?  Better yet, how to keep the ipod button on screen when itunes is open and the ipod is connected?

    - Have you tried another USB port and cable?
    - Inspect the dock connector for bend or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

Attempt to restore your iOS device two more times. If the issue is still unresolved, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
