1 router === 2 ASA (how to connect without switch)

Internet ----  ASR ------ Switch ------- ASA 1 (active)
                                       |              |
                                       |              |
                                       |---------- ASA 2 (standby)
ASR supports BDI (Bridge Domain Interface), in that case, it seems like possible.

Hi,
I think you might be able to bridge the 2 interfaces (even if they are not switchports) and enable the use of ASA Failover behind the 2 interfaces. I have only operated one ASR1001 just lately. To my understanding every port it has is a normal router port.
Have a look at this section of the configuration guide
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/asr1000/configuration/guide/chassis/bdi.html
Also have a look at this thread on these forums which seems to handle the same situation as yours
https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2169496
Hope this helps

  • Restricted ODI user / how to connect without providing master rep passwd ?

    Hi,
As SUPERVISOR, I created a restricted developer account/user (with CONNECT privilege to WORKREP1) but I'm obviously not willing to provide that user with master repository password.
"Getting Started with Oracle Data Integrator 11.1.1" says at paragraph 4.2.2 (Repository Connection Information Dialog) :
    4. Specify the Database Connection (Master Repository) details as follows:
    ■ User: sa
This is the database user ID/login of the schema (database, library) that
    contains the ODI master repository
    ■ Password: Leave this field empty.
So it seems possible to connect without filling the field.
Well, if I do so, my RESTRICTED_USER won't connect whereas it does when I provide master rep password.
Is there a simple answer to this that I missed at some point ?
    Thanks

    Guys,
Thanks for your replies but I'm a bit lost here about the security architecture/model : how do you generate and where do you store the .xml file ?
Is there a detailed documentation of authentication protocol somewhere to be read ?
(I thought I was close reading "Installation Guide for Oracle Data Integrator 11.1.1 / 2.5.3.1 Credential Store Entries for the Java EE Agent" but it seems ODI Studio connects directly to master rep to check user credentials against, and unlike OWB, users do not have a proper dbms account to log with so, to my understanding, the ODI Studio client does the job of controlling access/clearance (?))

  • How to connect SGE2010 switches

I have purchased a SGE2010 and a SGE2000P switches.  I wish to connect these two switches together.  Do I need to buy a MGBT1 mini-GBIC and connect them that way, or can I just use a switch port on each switch and connect them that way?
Is the MGBT1 really just a module to connect non-gigabit switches via a gigabit trunk with Cat5?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There were no modules mentioned to connect the switches together, with what I have read from the Cisco or Linksys help page.  However, you may want to check out the link I have provided below.  It's an article from the Cisco website which discusses stacking SFE and SGE switches.  Not as simple as we may think though.

From router A (connected to the DSL device),
use one of the LAN ports.
Take this cable to the WAN port on WRT54G "B".
Visually check to see that the "LAN" LED corresponding to the port # you connected to on unit "A" is lit,
and visually check to see that the "WAN" LED on unit "B" is lit.
If the lights don't come on, use a crossover cable (I don't recall if the 54G has a straight thru / crossover switch in the rear of the unit).

In non tech language if you have a bell Internet thing then you just go to settings and wifi and it should show something like bell... And if you have something else then there's a big chance you would need a wireless router. Go to the source they have cheap ones.

  • How to connect to external server using router from VLAN's

Hi, I am newbie. I am trying to build network system in Packet Tracer.
Now I have such network layout.
I have different VLAN's Accounting and Sales. I have configured this using subinterface in router to allow computers from different vlan's communicate with each other. Everything works.
Let's assume that there are next subnets and VLAN's. Acct. VLAN (2) (ip's 172.168.0.1-172.168.0.254/24) and Sales VLAN (4) (ip's 172.168.1.1-172.168.1.254/24).
But I need to connect all this computers to the external server.  That has ip , for instance 192.168.20.13/24. Like this.
I don't know hot to correctly configure router to make it possible for computers to connect to this server. I have connected switch to the another router interface. And than connected server to the switch and specified ip 192.168.20.13/24. Than I tried to set ip to the router interface from the same subnet like 192.168.20.22/24. So now router can communicate with server.
But how to allow computers to communicate with the server. Please help. I am newbie.
I would be grateful for any help.

    Hi Androgen,
One question for you..How does the sales VLAN computers communicate with the accounting VLAN machines? It's through the inter-VLAN routing that you have already setup.
Communicating to the external server is also similar to this.
The computer's in the VLAN should be configured with the default gateway IP which is the the L3 sub-interface IP for that subnet.
Also, the external server needs to have a default gateway to communicate with other remote subnet. The default gateway of that server would be 192.168.20.22 which is the L3 interface for your external subnet.

  • Problem connecting wirelessly from iMac to NETGEAR router, get invalid password message with WPA and WPA-2 encryption in place but if I remove them, so no security, can connect without a problem. Help!!

Problem connecting wirelessly from iMac to NETGEAR router, get invalid password message with WPA and WPA-2 encryption in place but if I remove them, so no security, can connect without a problem. Help!!

Thank you for your suggestion but I have already had a couple of phone sessions with NETGEAR support and they don't see any problems with the router settings etc. They referred me to Apple support, who helped me discover that it is possible to communicate with the router but only if I turn off the encryption/security software, which I don't want to do. The frustrating thing is that I can connect wirelessly from a laptop running Windows 7 and two Anroid smart phones, with WPA-2 in place, without a problem. Do you have any other ideas?

  • How can I create a data connection without ODBC (directly with OLE DB)

If connecting to an OLE DB data source, which is not defined as ODBC, the well known error message appears in Acrobat, that the environment is not trusted. The Designer Help says, that the document must be certified in Acrobat to run OLE DB without ODBC. So I certified the document in Acrobat allowing dynamic content for it. But the error message always appears. So I have some questions to this:
How is the correct certification process in Acrobat to define a trusted environment for using OLE DB without ODBC?
Why generates using of ODBC an trusted environment? With using ODBC data sources can be changed external from Acrobat, so I must think, ODBC is absolutely insecure.
Why is OLE DB without ODBC insecure? Here I have a defined connection string, which cannot be changed at runtime (if the form developer this doesn't want).
And why is the first record displayed instead of the error message, if using OLE DB without ODBC, but navigation is impossible?
This seems all very mysterious to me.
Does anyone in the world has ever created an OLE DB data connection (without ODBC) with Designer and Acrobat, which runs in a trusted environment?
    Thanks for your answers.

For the Projects, the trick will be the Asset files. If they will fit onto DVD DL discs, you're OK. If they are too large (DV-AVI is ~ 13GB per hour), then you'll need some type of backup, or spanning software, that will write files across multiple discs. A better choice, IMO, would be a 1 - 2 TB external, where you can use Project Manager, or just Windows Explorer and Copy, to do the entire Project folder with Assets. I'd recommend against a USB and go at least for FW-400. FW-800 would be better, but you'll need FW-800 connections on your computer. eSATA would be the best, but then you'll need eSATA connectors.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

    That is not correct sabretooth04,
The Deskjet Ink Advantage 4625 only support USB or Wi-Fi, it does not provide any Ethernet connectivity and therefore a Wireless router is essential for the web services to work.
The specifications can be found in here:

ichleiben57 - As your printer only support wireless connection you will either need a wireless router, bridging your wired ADSL router with a wireless access point or replacing the printer to a different model which support wired ethernet connection.

  • How to connect to router

How do I physically connect my new Time Capsule to my Verizon Fios router? Also does Time Capsule use the Verizon Fios router encryption or does it have its own encryption?

Sorry, but we are getting conflicting info here.
On one hand you say that you only need the TC for backups. If that's the case, you won't be creating a wireless network at all....the wireless will be turned off.
Can I just extend the network I have?
That gets tricky because you are trying to get wireless routers from two different manufacturers to work together. The first question is what kind of wireless security the Fios router is using and whether the Time Capsule has a match for that setting.
To "extend", the Time Capsule would be located a few rooms away from the Fios router. You still have to connect the Time Capsule to the Fios router using a wired Ethernet connection.
Before we even start to explore the possibility, are you able to run the Ethernet cable at least a few rooms away to the area where you want the Time Capsule to "extend"?

  • How to connect router to time capsule

    Hello!
I have a time capsule as a main router connected to ISP. And my plan is to connect wi-fi router NetGear WNR612 by ethernet and have another wi-fi hotspot. I plug a cable from LAN port on Time capsule to WAN port on NetGear, but cannot login to Netgear webpage to make changes in router config. How can I know IP address of a new router?
    Any ideas, thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.

If the netgear does not have an AP mode, setup in WAN BYPASS.
    Thus..
Connect to the Netgear direct by ether next to your computer.
Go to the setup page and change its IP address to match the TC.. eg.. TC default is 10.0.1.1 set the Netgear to 10.0.1.254
Turn off dhcp server in the netgear.
Now plug it back into the ethernet in the remote location.. but to LAN port not wan. It is now an AP in the network.
Setup wireless to roam, use same ssid (apple talk wireless name) and security but different channel to the TC. But that is up to you.. some people want roaming and others don't.. it doesn't always work.
Locking channels on both the TC and the Netgear helps.
