Hi,
I think it might work. However, Dv7 laptops have two hard drive bays and in my opinion a 1TB SSD is too large. You could have a 500GB SSD top and a 1TB HDD for data in the secondary bay.

    You're very welcome.
If your notebook came with the english, french or spanish version of W7 and you can read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on the bottom of your notebook, make your own W7 installation media.
    Here's how...
Use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to compile the ISO file you download from Digital River. Link  below. You need a DVD or a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB method of compilation.
Use the 25 character windows 7 product key to activate your installation.
    http://download.cnet.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below. Download the applicable version of Windows 7 that is on your product key (Home Premium, Pro, or Ultimate).  The SP1 Media Refresh files are the latest ISO files.

I wish I could tell you what sata mode your notebook is set to, but I can't.
Some dv7's have it to AHCI, and some have it to RAID. It depends on the model series.
For example, this person's dv7-4000 series model was set to ahci.

  • ATI 6000 series graphic card-

I imagine many of us MacPro owners know that Apple offers last years’ cards at next year’s prices. As such, I was wondering if anyone has been successful with installing the PC variants into their 2009 MacPro.
On the Q&A sales page, I remember a guy stated you could simply flash the PC version card and it would work in the MacPro but frankly, that sounds too easy. I would love to install an ATI 6000 series card into my MacPro in order to better support my NEC PA271 display. In fact, I'm planning on hooking another NEC just like it.
BTW: I’m not a gamer, although I do prefer to at least 1+ the stock GT-120 to drive my monitor(s). Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi-
The latest update holds the necessary support for the following Radeon cards:
AMD Radeon HD 6850 Device ID 0x6739
AMD Radeon HD 6870 Device ID 0x6738
AMD Radeon HD 6970 Device ID 0x6718
Further, the Radeon 5xxx cards show broader support:
ATI Radeon HD 5630 Device ID 0x68D8
ATI Radeon HD 5630 Device ID 0x68D9
ATI Radeon HD 5670 Device ID 0x68D8
ATI Radeon HD 5730 Device ID 0x68D8
ATI Radeon HD 5770 Device ID 0x68B8
ATI Radeon HD 5850 Device ID 0x6899
ATI Radeon HD 5870 Device ID 0x6898
I've seen reports of various X86 users having plug and play success (no flash) with cards from the above lists.
As for which cards, exactly, you'll have to do some searching.
Also, there are no reports of MP users making the jump to 6xxx cards, yet......

show cfs lock gives no output.
Just to further clarify, we have 4 5548UP switches in the same management vlan. 2 switches are in one location lets say location A and they are CFS peers and are working fine.
These two switches which are having problem are in location B. All the switches are in the same vlan. Essentially the all CFS multicast messages will be seen by all 5548 switches as they are in the same vlan. I am assuming that this might not create any problems as we specify the peers in the respective configurations. Or do we have to change the CFSoIPv4 multicast addresses in location B or may be configure a different region.
    Regards.

  • Why no App for Samsung 6000 series!!

How come you can only get skype on the 7000 and 8000 series but not the 6000 series if we still have internet capabilities and smart hub? I can even use it on my iphone so when are you fetching out an update for the Samsung 6000 users?
    Solved!

Amazingly, no reply, what a surprise!
I'm wondering the same thing! I managed to load the Skype application on my 6000 series TV using an Apache web server and the Skype widget/app that's currently in circulation. However, even with the Samsung CY-STC1100 attached the app doesn't execute. It just sits there with the status 'Connecting...', which takes me back into the dark ages when error handling didn't exist. I'm guessing it's a firmware issue because the webcam doesn't illuminate with the little blue light that says it's alive. It would be good if somebody cam back and said why you have to spend £1200-£2500 to appreciate Skype (freeware) on your TV.

  • Dv7-4000 series Bottom case

Hi. I have a DV7-4000 series Laptop (4010TX). By accident I smashed it on a wooden cupboard and the left sided hing and the bottom case were damaged. The lap boots up normally and the cooler fan apprears to be working fine. But a tremendous amount of  heat is leaked out from the damaged end requiring me to replace the hing and the plastic (or Fiber) bottom case. Can anyone inform me where to purchase a Bottom Cover for this particular model please. Hing can easily be bought from e-bay, but not the botto case. Thanks.

  • SSD for DV7

Hi, I have a DV7 with core i7 2,2G  I would like to know wich SSD drive is apropiate, i don´t know if it sataIII or II, Somebody know if RAM memory máx is 16GB? Best regards!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I do not but generally its easy to upgrade ram. It will either be a ddr2 or a ddr3 slot ram... The brand shouldn't really matter (sort of obvious but thought I should specify any way). I would check my ram by just popping open the back. Usually there will either be a small gate held by 1-3 screws or just one major-ish gate /compartmebt that holds in the ram and hard drive, so you shouldn't have to pop the entire base open. You can just pop one out and see what it says. It should be written right on it.

  • Ssd for dv7 1243cl

I am interested in upgrading my laptop's hdd to a ssd to reduce load times and extend battery life.  I cannot for the life of me find the detailed information I need to make my decision on which solid state drive to purchase.  I am looking to see what type of sata connection my laptop uses, I know it doesn't have sata3, but does it have sata2?  Is there a recommended ssd for this model laptop?

You don't really need to back anything up, ounce your old drive is removed you can simply connect it up through a USB hard drive caddy and drag off what ever you want off of it on to the new drive ounce the OS is installed.
Or, with out checking, I believe your dv7 has another hard drive bay. With an additional caddy and SATA connector you can install your old drive in there and either drag things over onto the new drive, or leave them there for access when ever you need it. Ounce you have pulled everything off that you want, you can eventually delete the old OS. One thing you will need to save are any product keys and install packages you have, but normally those should be on separate CD's
You can update the BIOS if you like, but for the most part all that should be necessary is to install teh SSD and boot from an OS install disc.
     It does have 2 bays.
And a place to buy a hard drive caddy for your old drive.
     http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_5&products_id=195
Also, after you install the OS the first thing you want to do is to install the ChipSet driver.
Click on the link and run AMD's driver finder (the easiest way) and it should bring one up, it will also bring up your video driver as well. It's important to install your ChipSet driver first before anything else, the rest doesn't matter.
     http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDSupportHub.aspx
Here is also an interesting thing from Newmodeus, might be easier then Macrium reflect if you choose to go that route.

     ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Here is a link to all your BIOS versions, I went through all of them and there really isn't anything to do with the running of a SSD, but there are some improvements if you go to Windows 7
If you're going to flash it Do It Wile You Are Running Vista if you flash it in W7 it may brick your machine.
Follow these instructions when flashing the BIOS :
Save the BIOS file to the desk top, do not flash it from a temporary folder.
Have the battery installed and the adapter plugged in.
Disconnect everything from the laptop except for the adpater.
Leave the WiFi button turned on, but disconnect from the internet by shutting off your modem.
Do not flash it in the event of a power failure eg, a bad wind storm
Do not touch the mouse pad while the BIOS is being flashed.
When it appears to be finished and the hard drive light stops flashing, leave it sit for at least 3 minutes before booting up. In most cases it will shut down automatically when it's done.

  • HDMI + VGA Question // HP DV7-4000 series.

    Dear Friends,
I have a question about usig external monitor(s) with my HP DV7.  The specific model # is DV7-4287cl
I have both an HDMI port and a VGA port on this model. I plan to use an external monitor with it but I wonder if it is not possible to use two external monitors with it given I have two separate ports?
This may be a dumb question but I have a specific need to use an external monitor with my notebook, and having two instead of one wouldn't be a bad option.
    Many thanks, in advance.
    This question was solved.

You can use one external monitor. The hdmi port will provide a much clearer sharper picture, but either that or the vga port will be acceptable. Two outputs is the limit of the video card, and one of those is always the built in laptop display.

  • Adding SSD to DV7 6178us

I just installed a 256gb Crucial M4 in the second bay.  Cable hooked up, looks fine.  Device manager shows the drive, lists it as working properly in location 1.   However, it is not shown or listed in My Computer along with all the other drives.
My end goal is to use the SSD as my operating system drive and move the original HDD to the second bay for data.  I read that I need to enable AHCI in the bios, however I did not see that option.  Right now I have the SSD installed in the second bay, recognized by device manager, and that's it.
Any suggestions, or links for good tips?

    Hi,
AHCI is enabled by default in an HP bios.
You probably need to format the new SSD - try the following.
Hold down the Windows Key and press R.  Into the Run Box type compmgmt.msc and hit enter.  Click Disk Management in the left pane and let the drives load up.  Right click on your new SDD and select Format to start the Wizard and choose a 'simple new volume'.  Windows 7 will assign a Volume Label so if your happy with this, just leave the default one.  File system is normally NTFS.  Allocation Unit Size should be left as the default value.  Select the option to perform a Quick Format if it is not already selected.  Leave any other settings as default and click Ok and Ok again to start the process.
When this has completed, your new SDD should now appear when you look under Computer.
    Regards,
    DP-K

  • Add SSD to DV7 (LC748EA#ACB)

    Hello!
I want to add SSD OCZ Vector 150 to my notebook as a disk with Windows.
I clone Win to this SSD and set it to my notebook as a disk 1.
But I can't select my new ssd in BIOS as bootable disk.
    BIOS version HP F1.B
    Please help me)

What did you use to clone the disks? And to be clear, you now have the SSD in the primary slot and the hdd in the second slot? Try removing the HDD completely and see if it will boot just off the SSD. The HDD should not be in the boot order if it is in the second bay.
The SSD is a full sized 2.5 inch SATA form factor, not an mSATA mSSD, right?

  • I can't get the 7216 multi-room DVR, I have the 6000 series

My old comcast dvr had an out coax outlet that I ran to my TV. I found when watching SD I received a better picture when I switched the TV input to CATV which I assume was using the coax cable opposed to using the component or HDMI cable.  I noticed on the Verizon website the 7200 series has the coax out and I spent an hour on the phone trying to get one. Hardly anyone at Verizon knew what I was talking about until I spoke to probably the 5th person.  This person was in tech support and was very helpful.  He set up a service call for one of their techs to come to my home and swap out the box for me.  Well of course when the tech showed up he had no idea what I was talking about, saying as far as he knew the box was unavailable.  Honestly I wish I hadn't switched from Comcast, the TV isn't any better and either is the internet.
Any ideas?  I said I would just go pick one up like you could do with Comcast but they don't do that.

Call 800-483-4000. Ask to add a new HM DVR to your account and return your existing equipment. You will be refered to a store that is equiped to handle your request. The store reps have an extensive knowledge base reguarding equipment and model numbers. They also have the equipment available for you to exchange if needed. You simply need to add new equipment and return the existing you no longer have a need for. Enjoy FIOS!
