1 year warranty how does it work exactly?

I have an Ipad air and suddenly the camera stopped working after contacting apple support they told me that its a hardware problem and i need to get it repaire and i would get it fixed free of charge if I have the warranty. So the thing is I bought it in 8/3/2014 and all this happend around 14/3/2015 which is exactly a week after a year had passed. my question is, does apple warranty work like this expires exactly on the same date or does it give the whole month you bought in till it does?

The warranty expires after exactly one year(or two years with AppleCare.) Since it failed close to the expiry date, you may be able to get it fixed for free; ask Apple.

  • Warranty - how does it work?

after 5 happy years with Creative Zen, I've switched religion, and got an ipod Classic 120GB. sadly, 3 weeks after loading it up, the screen failed (no display, just went white and didn't work properly). reset and a restore didn't make any difference.
apple were most helpful on the phone, and said to get it a Service Centre. The service centre (not an Apple store) has agreed it's faulty and are awaiting parts from Apple. What I'm concerned about is that they're saying that it will most likely be replaced by a refurbished model - which doesn't sound quite as good as a new one... is this right?
the original was purchased as a gift for me from Amazon

iPods that need parts replaced are returned to Apple for repair. They are not repaired at an Apple Service center or Apple Store.

If it needs repair (parts replaced, not simply a Restore or something they can do in the store), it gets replaced with a refurbished iPod of the same model/size/color.
All refurbished iPods meet full factory specs, new battery, new case

  • No longer under warranty, how does pricing work?

Seen as it's impossible to contact Apple directly regarding technical issues regarding MacBook, I'll have to ask here.
Firstly, I know the issues with my MacBook are hardware related I've spent relentless hours trying to fix them with thousands of different software methods, so I don't need any advice with that.
I brought my MacBook in the states, it's an early 2008 issue, so the keyboard and wrist-rest's have all discoloured and the housing is practically falling apart.
One of the RAM slots has failed, so I'm running on a measly 500MB's of RAM, it's not the RAM that has the issue but the slot as I've tested both pieces of RAM in each slot.
The DVD drive no longer burns, it's not a software issue as I've restored the OS, the error I get is the dreaded "Laser power level could not be calibrated for this media" I get this with standard CD-R's now and not just DVD-DL disc's, I've tried the 'language change voodoo' a PRAM reset, disc cleaning with little to no luck, I shouldn't have to do this EVERYTIME I wish to burn a disc.
So basically, I want these three things fixed with the Mac, as I'm no longer under warranty I can understand that I will need to pay. Should I contact the nearest 'Premium Reseller' of Apple products? Will they charge more at the resellers than Apple will? Is it a standard one off payment to fix all three?
Any help at all will be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

You've called their tech support numbers? (44) 0844 209 0611 in the UK, 800-275-2273 in the US. I've never found them particularly difficult to reach, though depending on call volume you may have to wait on hold for a while. You can also go to any retail Apple Store in your area.
should I contact the nearest 'Premium Reseller' of Apple products? Will they charge more at the resellers than Apple will?
I'd suggest you shop around. There's no standard pricing, so you may find that repair pricing will vary between service centers. Repairs at an Apple Store are more likely to be higher than the price charged by an independent service center, but not always, so get estimates from a couple of places, at least, and decide from there. If you're in the US, you can look for service centers on this web page:
    http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service/
If you have to replace the logic board, the keyboard and the DVD drive, it's almost certainly going to be more cost-effective (and perhaps even less expensive, particularly if you go for a refurbished MacBook) to just buy a new computer.

  • Language correction while writting - how does it work exactly?

    Hello everyone.
Language correction for czech isn't implemented. Well I knew that when I was buying it, it's not really a big deal, although it would be nice if it was added sometime.
But... I didn't turn english correction off. I use it for witting with AIM and email. I have czech keyboard active as second one and I'm switching into it while writting in czech. Question is. Will iPhone learn additional english words while being switched into english and will it start learning czech while switched into czech keyboard? I'm talking about two separate dictionaries for corrections.
It's rather complicated. But I want to be sure my iPhone learns czech while having czech keyboard active while also having english keyboard on sometime when I use english. Else I have to turn it off completely...
    Thanks,

    Hi,
If you choose a sample that is tagged in the key of E in the loop browser in a song that is in the key of C, it transposes the key of the loop to fit the song. If it is a real instrument loop and the interval is great, it might not sound so good (what they call "artifacts" will sound warbly and odd), so sometimes you might be better served by choosing a loop that is in a closer key.
You can use any loop you like. The sound might not fit well together if the loops are from disparate keys, but on the other hand, it might be okay. If it sounds good, then you have nothing to worry about theory wise.

  • Bonjour: How does it work?

I've tried everything and looked everything. How does bonjour work exactly? I feel ******** that I can't figure this out. My main goal is to try and configure my PCs to connect with my mac. My mac can see the PCs, but my PCs can't see the mac. So what would be the best way to get the PCs to see my mac? Also, I have "Allow all incoming connections" turned on, on my mac.
But also, what does bonjour do exactly and what are some ways to use it? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I really can't find the exact answer I'm looking for.
    Thanks!!!

    Hello there,
This is Apple's summary of what Bonjour is.
"Bonjour is Apple's implementation of the Zero Configuration Networking Standard. Bonjour for Windows includes a System Service that helps applications discover shared services on the local network, printer discovery wizard, and IE plug-in for discovering local Web servers. Bonjour uses industry standard IP protocols to allow devices to automatically discover each other without the need to enter IP addresses or configure DNS servers."
Bonjour is a networking protocol that sends and receives network packets on UDP port 5353. If you have some sort of "personal firewall" enabled, you will need to ensure that UDP port 5353 is open for Bonjour to work properly.
Certain firewalls will only partially block Bonjour packets, so if you experience intermittent behavior, check the firewall settings and verify that Bonjour is listed as an exception and is allowed to receive incoming packets. Bonjour will configure the Windows firewall appropriately during installation on Windows XP Service Pack 2 and above.
It is a good place to start at least. Hope this helps.

  • What is UMA exactly? How does it work?

What is UMA exactly? How does it work?
I have T Mobile but am not subscribed to Hotspots at Home.  I do pay for the BB unlimited internet package.
When I am connected to my router at home, it goes to UMA.  But other times, it just says wifi and is still connected to my router -- but NO UMA.  I haven't made any changes.
    What is this?

Here is a KB that discusses UMA:

  • My iPhone was stolen and I have contacted the police who are using the meid number to locate.  How does this work and what are my chances of getting the phone back?

My iPhone was stolen.  I used Find My iPhone app to lock it and display a message.  The phone has not connected to the internet to locate it.  I contacted the police and they have taken my meid number.  How does this work and what are my chances of getting the phone back?  Are there other ways the theif can use it.  I was told once they put in a new sim card and use it, whatever software the police have, it will show up.

Honestly? In the US (I can't speak to other countries, though I doubt it works much differently in a lot of the world) The police took your report and filed it either in their computers or, on paper. They will now not think of this again. The only time it will cross anyones mind is if, in the course of entering information into evidence about items recovered or seized at a crime scene, the serial number of an iPhone that was found/seized happens to match yours, in which case you will be contacted.
The police in the US can and will do nothing to 'blok' the phone and it's not worth their time to try and locate it unless you know for a fact that it was stolen by a big time drug lord, master criminal, or some other such prime target and they can get a court order to track the location of the phone in order to locate this individual for your own purposes.  If they do that, they'll probably keep him under surveilance for a year or so before they act.
Basically, the police don't care about your phone. If they find it, they will give it back to you. They are not, however, going to go looking for it. They have better things to do.
I'm sorry, but that's the way it is.

My co-worker has given me his iPod to take home and transfer his music to my laptop, however, I am unable to access his music to download it to my computer.  How does this work?

You need to transfer the iTunes Library from the most recent backup you made before the hard drive was replaced.
You can't transfer the full iTunes Library from the iPad back to iTunes.
There are third-party Windows applications that will transfer data from an iOS device, but they don't re-create the iTunes Library exactly as it was before.

  • BPEL Engine: How does it work?

"[BPEL].. Engines will come in a variety of form factors and use different techniques for runtime representation of processes, including:
    * interpretative
    * code generation

    * reduction engine based on Pi-Calcolus and related concepts"

How does it work Oracle version of BPEL Engine exactly? Does it make a package (.jar) of Java classes and process them like usual Web Applications?

It is based on a mix of the first 3 techniques. The code gene part is really internal and is more about just in time compilation and performance optimization than generation of a Java application. -Edwin

  • How does 'RHPH_STRUCTURE_READ' work ?

    Hi all,
I am using function RHPH_STRUCTURE_READ to find my system objects, but I don't understand how it exactly works, on attribute WEGID precisely !
Here is the list of what I need to find :
    - O objects
    - SM linked to O
    - SE linked to SM
    - E linked to SE or E linked to CE
For the first one, I use wegid 'O-S-P' (but I don't see what it does mean).
For the two followers, I use otype 'O' and resp. wegid 'O-SM' and 'O-SE'. Is there a way to do from SM to SE without using otype 'O' and this wegid ?
For the last one, I didn't find how to perform it !
Someone can explain me how does it works ? My way to test it is really risky !
Last question, is there a way to find all my O objects without notify an objid ?

  • JScrollPane, JList, Resizing - How does it work?

    Hello NG,
    I have the following situation:
3 JScrollpanes with 3 JLists to display. 2 Scrollpanes (on the right, 2. and 3.) are in a JPanel with GridBagLayout. This JPanel and the 3rd JScrollpane (on the left, 1.) are in another JPanel also with GridBagLayout. All components have a gridBagConstraints.fill = BOTH setting for resizing. The JLists will be filled from another Thread different from the EventDispatcherThread.
    The Problem:
The JFrame with the components above will be displayed on the screen. Then the other thread fills the JList of JScrollpane(1), then the two other JScrollpanes (2 and 3). After that, a resizing occurs according to the gridBagConstraints.fill constraint to fill the space between the components. So, the 3 JScrollpanes change their size, it seem to the observer that this resizing occurs without intention.
Is there a way to prevent this risizing? How does this resizing mechanism exactly works? Who fires which event? Does anybody knows where to find a good description of it?
So far, I know it starts with the revalidate()-method in the JLists after changing the content of the lists. revalidate() adds the component to the RepaintManger invalidation queue for repainting. But who calls revalidate()? What will happen if the revalidate()-method will be overwritten to do nothing?
    Bye
    Raoul

You gotta throw use a bone here... How does what work? More info please.

  • How does this work?

This is not a complaint, but a confused sigh of admiration. I've got an email account at the university where I teach. When I got my iBook, it took me a while, and a few conversations with IT at the school, to get this account working in the Mail application. (Since I have a Verizon DSL at home, I had to include that SMTP as the outgoing server.) Anyway, I synched this mail account (along with my AOL and .Mac accounts) onto the iPhone, and it works perfectly, both incoming and outgoing. I didn't have to change any of the settings. I thought I was computer savvy, but I can't wrap my mind around this. It seems like magic. How does it work?

The sync process with iTunes transfers the email account settings (for your chosen accounts via your iPhone sync preferences) from the Mail application on your Mac to the iPhone's email application.
The iPhone is running OS X and the iPhone's email client can be considered a mobile version of the Mail application.

  • Was told a USB device would create a PDF automatically from the data contained within when plugged into my USB port. Doesn't seem to work. How does this work and how can I fix the device I received?

Acrobat is not on the USB device - only Adobe Reader needed on the PC. How does this work? How can I fix this device if at all?

You need to ask the people who sold it to you. Doesn't sound like it has anything to do with Reader.
However, you should be wary of devices that automatically try to open files when plugged in. They can also infect your computers with all kinds of viruses or malware.
