10.1.0.3 Oracle client for SPARC (64-bit) not on Metalink

All,
I cannot find the 10.1.0.3 Oracle client on Metalink account for SPARC. Is this available anywhere?

You have to download the base version also, not only patch set!
To get the patch set:
click tab Patches & Updates, then click link "Quick links to latest ...".
Now choose Oracle Database, scroll down to Solaris SPARC 64bit -> patch set versions 10.1.0.3 to 10.1.0.5.
As far as I know, I dont deal with Client installs much, you can upgrade both Client and Database with the "Database" patch sets.

  • Connect from Windows Client to Oracle 10g for Windows 64-bit

Have an environment currently running Oracle 10g 32-bit on Windows 2000 Standard, and need to migrate to Oracle 10g 64-bit for Windows. Users connect to the 10g 32-bit database using the Oracle Client for Windows 10g loaded on remote PC's. If we migrate to the Oracle 10g 64-bit on Windows 2003 Server Enteprise Edition 64-bit, what type of client do I have to install on the PC's to access the Oracle 10g 64-bit database?
Any ehlp/insight will be greatly appreciated.
    Eduardo in Michigan

In addition to install 32-bit Oracle client to 32-bit Windows OS, you need to know whether your application is compiled to run in 32-bit or 64-bit.
This is critical because 32-bit application can not see 64-bit Oracle ODBC and OLE DB provider.
For example, MS SQL Server 2005 uses 32-bit DTS, and SSIS, which needs 32-bit Oracle client
If you don't know, get a copy of both 32-bit and 64-bit Oracle client, and try one-by-one to know for sure. Please be aware that if regsvr32.exe in the Windows has been overwritten by older software installation, it won't register some DLL properly, and Oracle ODBC, or OLE DB won't show up as well

  • Best practice on Oracle VM for Sparc System

    Dear All,
I want to test Oracle VM for Sparc System but I don't have new model Server to test it. What is the best practice of Oracle VM for Sparc System?
I have a Dell laptop which has spec as below:
    -IntelĀ® CoreTM i7-2640M
    (2.8GHz, 4MB cache)
    - Ram: 8GB DDR3
    - HDD: 750GB
    -1GB AMD Radeon
I want to install Oracle VM VirtualBox on my laptop and then install Oracle VM for Sparc System in Virtual Box, is it possible?
    Please kindly give advice,
    Thanks and regards,

How about computer desktop or computer workstation with the latest version has CPU supports Oracle VM or SPARC?Nope. The only place you find SPARC T4 processors is in Sun Servers (and some Fujitsu servers, I think).

  • Where can i find an oracle CLIENT for win98??

I need an oracle client for win98 to access a 9i database, where
    can i find it?

any oracle 8i client or oracle 8 client can connect to oracle 9i
    database if that helps.
The clients can be obtained from the technet site.

  • Vdisks disappear in oracle vm for sparc 3.1

    hi ,
i implement oracle rac on oracle vm for sparc 3 , and we have 2 guest domain running Solaris 11.1 , each guest domain in a separate SPARC T4-2 Server.
the ASM disks are 32 disks mapped to the two server and then mapped to the guest domains.
the problem here : when i added the disks in beginning it appeared 32 disks on each guest but after i restart the server and guest domain , sometimes the disks appears as 30 or 26 or 31 and sometimes 32. in other hand the disks appear 32 to control domain
and here my configuration of control domain :

    Hi there,
I am a Solaris enthusiast who recently purchased a second hand Sun Fire v210 with 2 CPU's and 4 GB of RAM.
Now I am running Solaris 10 (sparc) on it and I want to toy around with virtual machines on it this is because I would like to run OS X and if possible x86 Linux inside a VM.
Since I am just a hobbyist and i dont have the funds to purchase expensive software does anybody have any suggestions on what software to use and where to get it?
    With kind regards,
    Gertjan

You can't run x86 software on the SPARC platform, so neither MacOS X nor Linux compiled for x86 would work. I'm also not even sure if the UltraSPARC processor in that v210 supports Oracle VM for SPARC (formerly LDOMs), but I'm not a Solaris expert. Essentially, if it is supported, you will be able to run Solaris guests on your SPARC, but that's pretty much it.

  • Installing Oracle Database with ASM on Oracle VM for SPARC

We're installing Solaris 11 and Oracle VM for SPARC so we can install Oracle Database with ASM. There is a requirement when creating the database that the raw disk have an owner that is the same as the database. Everytime we try to change the owner it will always show that the owner is root.
    Any ideas?

    Hi
Please let me know from where you are allocating ASM raw disks for the guest domain.
i hope you are changing the disk permissions using chown -R
Also confirm the permission using command # ls -IL /dev/rdsk

  • Oracle Client for DOS

    Hi!
Where can I download Oracle Client for DOS to connect to Oracle Server version 7, 8, 9 or 10g?
    Thank you for any advice.

Oracle hasn't produced a DOS client at least in the past 6 years. I'm not aware of a DOS client that has ever been produced, but I can't say that for sure. If there was a DOS client in the Oracle 6 or 7 days, getting it would be a challenge-- you'd have to contact Oracle support to see if that have an archive that goes back that far. Most likely, you'd have to find someone who still had the old media. Even if you did, though, an Oracle 6 or 7 client cannot connect to an Oracle 9i or 10g database. An Oracle 6 client can't even connect to an Oracle 8i database.
In other words, you probably can't connect from a DOS machine. If you install Windows, you can use the Windows client from a DOS window.

  • Oracle client for CA Erwin data modeler

Does anyone know how to install and configure oracle client for Erwin data modeler?
CA tech support says check with oracle

    >
I need some help understanding what client means.
    >
Client is any server that connects to a database. I am assuming that CA will be installed on a Windows XP machine and it will connect to a remote database on another server. I am assuming since you have not provided any details.

I can upgrade to 11g database. No problem

OK - not sure what this has to do with your issue.

The client install does not install a database - it installs the necessary components needed to connect to a remote Oracle database.

More specific with what ? The more lucid details your provide, the better the quality of the responses on these forums.

  • Oracle client for SCO Unix

    Hi,
Where I can't download oracle client for SCO Unix ?
    Thanks.

You're right. You can't download Oracle client for SCO Unix.
I'm not sure what you mean by "SCO Unix", but if you go to MetaLink and look at the Certification matrix, you see two different listings that make reference to SCO:
Unixware (SCO) - Terminal Oracle release for this platform was 8.1.7.
Intel SCO Open Unix 8 with LKP - Terminal Oracle release for this platform was 9.0.1.
So, I think you're out of luck.

  • Is there an Oracle VPN client for Linux (64-bit) ?

Does anyone know if there is an Oracle VPN client for Linux (64-bit) ?
    Where to get it ?
    How to install it ?
    thanks!
    Greg

Perhaps OpenVPN will work for you. Unfortunately you did not provide any OS information and VPN requirements.
You can find help to install and setup OpenVPN in Google. You might want to check the Fedora EPEL repository http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL to install the software using standard yum in Enterprise Linux.

  • Problem Installing Oracle Client 11g R2 64 bit on Windows 7 Enterprise 64

    Hi,
I am having problems installing the Oracle Client 11g R2 64 bit installation on my Windows 7 64 bit Enterprise machine. The installer does all the checks successfully, it gets me to summary screen and I press finish to start the installation. It then opens the installation mask where it first says Checking whether Central Inventory is locked by another OUI session. After that it very briefly shows Central Inventory is not locked and then the window immediately dissapears with no other errors. I tried installing at my colleague's W7 Enterprise 64 machine and it behaves a little differently but with the same result. Basically on his machine it never even opens the Install mask, when pressing finish from the Summary it just disappears and never starts installation. I tried installing 11g R1 and that loads the first mask and when i press next it just dissapears. I basically need an oracle client 64 bit installation on my machine deperately. Please help. Thanks
    Alex

One user above reported installing the 64 bit odbc drivers and then the 32 bit drivers. How did you do that? I'm a neophyte to this.
I'm trying to get a 32 bit ODBC oracle driver to work on a server 2008 R2 machine. I downloaded the 11gR2 x64 client from oracle. The install process makes no mention of 32bit vs 64bit installation. After running the instalation I can run the ODBC administrator and generate a DSN for oracle. When I run the 32 ODBC administrator there is no oracle driver available except the microsoft driver for oracle. When I select that it says that I need to install oracle.
I had at first tried to install 11g instant client. However that didn't work for the 2008 R2 machine. It complained about some registry error when I tried to run the ODBC install program. I need to get it to work for a customer asap.

There is a note # 833665.1 on this which states "The issue is caused by the Host Storage metrics collected by the agent" and also a Patch 8477122 has been created for this issue.
However, there is nothing mention in the Note # 833665.1 about the following one message.
    Feb 2 04:07:34 ndc-m9k-2-r1 oracle[7332]: [ID 566193 user.error] n2a get_local_info: ioctl (get interface flags): Interrupted system call
    Can anyone please tell me
    1. whats the significance of the "oracle[7332]: [ID 566193 user.error] n2a get_local_info: ioctl (get interface flags): Interrupted system call" message in the OS log?
    2. Does this message get stops on applying of patch # 8477122 ?
    Thank you,
    Bhavin

There are a number of known issues with the 10g agent on Solaris and patches are available. I assume you are running the 10.2.0.5 agent since you reference patch 8477122. If this is a brand new agent installation i would start with applying the latest PSU update which contains many related fixes. If you are still getting the error after this, open an SR with Oracle Support with your specific error message.
