10.1.1 uninstall & 10.1.4 install problem. "This patch package could not be found"
Cannot fully uninstall Reader 10.1.1 or instal 10.1.4 as same Microsoft error message comes up:
"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Window installer patch package."
Have tried uninstalling through Windows and then Advanced System Care uninstaller - same error.
Have tried installing Reader 10.1.4, as Adobe usually does uninstall of older version as part of installing newer version - same error.
Tried Adobe direct install - same error.
Checked forums but could not find entry for this error.
Remove the corruped installation using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html

Any idea of what I need to do?
Thanks for your interest in my problem. My operating system is Windows
XP. I had an older version of Adobe Reader installed, but recently, my
computer became unable to view pdf files. So I decided to try to update
my version of Adobe Reader. Somewhere in the process, it was suggested
that I delete previous versions of Adobe Reader prior to installing the
new version, so that's what I did. Now when I try to download and
install the version 9 of Adobe Reader, I get the message that , "The
patch package could not be opened."

Uninstall Reader X - Patch package could not be opened.
I am trying to uninstall Reader X in hopes that when I reinstall it some other issues will clear up. However, when clicking remove or update in Control Panel, I get the same result. "This patch package could not be opened...." Same message I have seen in a host of other postings.
Can I follow the same general instructions for manual uninstall that are in the knowledge base for Reader 8? Are there any additional steps/registry modifications? I am running XP/SP3.You could try using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove all traces of any existing versions of Reader. This utility is no longer supported by Microsoft because it can conflict with Win 7, but you can still find it in sites like http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459

whem installing itunes on my mums new computer which is windows 7 i get this message everytime "this installation package could not be opened. Verifiy that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package"
Let's check your Windows system.
1. Have you done all the important windows updates and service Packs on your system. If not do it now. START button, type in Windows Update and ENTER. Select 'CHECK FOR UPDATES'
2. Let's check your Windows system files for possible file corruption
SCAN and repair possible Windows system file corruption:
Go to command prompt (START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES right mouse click "command prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator"
type in
sfc /scannow
let Windows fix any system files that need to be repaired.
Restart the computer if it did actually repair any files.
3. Check your system for possible Malware. But you have to do it in WIndows Safe Mode.
Start your computer in "Safe mode with networking", go to this link download a free version of Malwarebyte.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
Install and perform update immediately, then do a full SCAN. Remove malware if it indeed finds any. Restart computer to regular windows to let Malwarebyte complete the removal.
To start your computer in safe mode
Press and hold the F8 key as your computer starts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you'll need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.
On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight the "safe mode with networking" option, and then press Enter. Log on to your computer with a user account that has administrator rights.
When your computer is in safe mode, you'll see the words Safe Mode in the corners of your screen. To exit safe mode, restart your computer and let Windows start normally. -
While installing itunes i am getting error "this installation package could not be opened.verify that the package exists and that you can access it,or contact the appliacation vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package"
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer? -

Problem installing windows - 'The installer disc could not be found'
Hello everyone,
I'd successfully partitioned my hard drive and am now trying to install windows. When I click on 'start installation' in boot camp assistant, there is a delay of 20 seconds and then a message, saying that 'the installer disc could not be found'. This is despite the windows CD showing up in the finder.
I've tried re-booting, re-starting boot camp and removing the CD, to no avail. For what it's worth I've also tried a friends windows CD just in case it is my one causing the problem.
Any tips?
Thanks in advance.
RobI had the same issue with the installer disc not being found by boot camp, I tried multiple times with no luck, tried several windows vista home basic discs and made sure they were bootable, still no luck, finally I got the trial version of parallels, installed windows that way and it worked, the interesting thing is that afterwards, I left the CD I was using in the dvd drive, shut down the computer, next time I started the laptop, it wanted to boot up with the windows installation dvd I left in the drive, I cancelled, started mac os then ran boot camp and it worked fine.
Sounds to me like software issues from apple... I hope you find the solution, all this was very frustrating... -
New itunes install error - Installation package could not be opened. Verify
I Just bought a brand new computer last night. I am trying to install Itunes and get the following error. "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists ad that you can access it, or contacnt the applicaiton vendor to verify that this is avalid windows installer package"
I am running windows 7 64 bit home premium. I have verified that i have downloaded the correct itunes version itunes64setup.exe
So far i have tried
-downloading and installing all microsoft updates
-disabled all anti virus and firewall software,
-rebooting and re-downloading
-tried installing quicktime first. (gives me the same error)
-stopping and restarting windows installer
-deleted all items from the temp folder
-tried running itunes64setup.exe as admin and also in compatibility mode
-verified i have downloaded itunes64setup.exe with IE 64 bit
I am at a loss. I can not find any real solution for this problem. I am now 5 hours into trying to find an answer. This is a brand new computer and I have installed no other programs on it than what came out of the box.
Any help would be greatly appriciated!!Well if anyone else runs into this problem, this is how i got it fixed.
I did a complete system restore to the origional factory default on the computer. I would not have thought that this would have been needed as it was brand new out of the box with nothing downloaded/changed on it.
However it worked. The only thing I can thing of, is that on the origional factory install of the software there may have been a corrupt or missing file that when I did a new install corected itself.
If you have the origional windows disk that came with the computer I would use that to completely reinstall windows. If you are like me and they didnt provide you a disk, I made a complete backup of the system to disk and made a recovery disk just to be safe before restoring the system.
Hopefully this is helpfull to someone. -

Please help so I can get iTunes onto my computer.

I cannot get my Acrobat Pro to open. I already uninstalled it and re installed it. But still does not open. The program pops to ask for permission to open the program, but it never actually opens. I trouble shoot it and it says incompatible application.
It sounds like an issue of trying to run XI on VISTA. That combination does not work. Info on both the Acrobat full version (including sub-version) and OS would help. It might also be an issue of running 11.0.0 on a system that needs the updates to work.

I reciece the follwing message when trying to install
"The Installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists, or contact the application vendor to verify that this a valid windows installer package"Hey there Frank0619,
If you have not been able to install iTunes because the Windows Installer service is not available, I would recommend the troubleshooting in the following troubleshooting to help.
Issues installing iTunes for Windows
These in particular:
Make sure you have an administrator account.
To install iTunes, you'll need to log in to your computer with an administrator password. If you're not sure if you have an administrator account, read Windows 7: How do I log on as an administrator? You could also refer to your computer's help system, contact your IT department, or visit support.microsoft.com for assistance.
Install the latest Microsoft Windows updates.
To download the latest updates, visit the Microsoft Windows Update website. iTunes for Windows requires Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 with the latest Service Pack installed. If you can’t install the updates, refer to your computer's help system, contact your IT department, or visit support.microsoft.com for assistance.
Download the latest version of iTunes.
The latest version of iTunes can be downloaded at http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
Disable conflicting software.
Some Windows background processes can cause issues for other programs and processes. These conflicts can prevent applications, such as iTunes, from installing. Disable conflicting processes by starting your computer using MSConfig:
Using Msconfig to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows XP
Using Msconfig to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8
Some security software made by other companies can't be disabled using MSConfig. If you've installed security software and you're having issues installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows, you might need to disable or uninstall security software to resolve installation issues.
Restart your computer.
Install iTunes.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the best,

Hello, I am having a very hard time attempting to install Office 2010 Pro Plus on a system. The error message that I receive is as follows:
The language of this installation package is not supported by your system.
I have tried running the Microsoft FixIt tool to remove any traces of Office 2007 and Office 2010. Also, I have followed the instructions in
KB928218 to manually uninstall any traces of Office 2007.
I believe the user had both Office 2007 and Office 2010 installed previously. There is no article to remove all traces of Office 2010.
Here is some additional output from the Setup log:
